A Glimpse into SimMayor

Being a mayor is a tough job, but someone has to do it, right?

If you’re a fan of simulators, and even more so city building / mayor simulators, this is the game for you!

Summary:

  • Customizable settlement
  • Over 125 buildings to buy
  • You need to keep your residents happy
  • Respond to disasters
  • Fund the emergency services correctly
  • Correctly fund utilities
  • Make Profit
  • Enjoy yourself!

SimMayor is a text based city building mayor simulator which gives you control of everything. When starting the game, you can name your mayor, the settlement and citizen names or, you can just choose to randomize them, it’s up to you!

Once you’ve chosen the main details, it’s time to choose your starting budget, climate you then choose if you want the real experience of being up for election each year, or to just have control indefinitely.

If you’re a fan of city building simulators then you’ll know that a good place to start a new settlement is to actually get some residents, right? With a choice of multiple residential buildings, you can start to create your ideal settlement.

Next up on the list, jobs! Nobody just wants to go through life without being able to earn a living, right? With a choice of multiple commercial and office buildings, it’s your responsibility to make sure your residents are employed. Whether it’s working for a fast-food restaurant or, for a Tech Startup, any job is better than none.

Along with making sure everyone has a job, you had better make sure there are enough utility buildings to keep the settlement ticking over. From making sure the garbage gets disposed of to making sure there’s water coming out of everyones taps, it’s all on you! If you start to fail in this area, you’ll soon know about it! Residents will not keep quiet for long. Whether they start to talk about you on their social media or decide to riot, you need to be ready!

This now leads us into the emergency services! To help keep your residents safe, you need to employ people for the police force, ambulance & fire service. If not, those fires will start to spread further than some nasty gossip about the mayor.

Just to keep you on your toes, you will have a range of different disasters that will pop up. Will you choose to repair buildings caused by a fire or will you simply let them all burn to the ground?

Will you repair buildings that have been vandalised as part of the ongoing riots around you because people don’t have clean water?

To help raise the mood around town, you can throw events and bring your residents together to have a great time! If this can’t raise the public opinion then nothing can!

Finally, it’s time for you to make some money. To do this, make sure you have enough commercial buildings to bring in profit each month once the payments have been made for everything else. If you can’t get the hang of this, you can always accept a bribe that’s offered to you, but you need to cross your fingers that you don’t get found out!

Im having so much fun with this game but you said the next update will have ores but that was a year ago so we would be hoping to see that soon-kalob.

It was our favorite life simulator game now Im stuck with BitLife .

We think the population should be reworked. People should be able to immigrate and leave, and people will come not based on housing, but instead on attractiveness, which can be increased by parks and landmarks. Also, people should be able to die and get born, and the population growth increases with more people. But, overall a great game, also cut down on the ads. Maybe half the amount of ads?

We like this game and all but we think we can use some education buildings.

It needs to be more than 25 we have to spend an hour just to get the amount of buildings we need. There should be a 100x build button or even 1000x.

We cant buy any building and we have enough money.

Over all the game is a decent playable game Here are some suggestions: School- under jobs we count the uneducated, but we have NO WHERE to educate them. Allow people to make more money we need to add factories or employment centers which generate 1000+ jobs. Its unrealistic to believe that we bought 30 males and still cant employ over 50% of our city. Allow the city of grow on its own, add developers offering to build in the city. Add other way to make money outside of corruption and taxes.

The maintenance cost are killing us starting big or trying slow either way we cant profit ever.

The game was very basic to a normal simulation game. The biggest problem we had was when we need to gain money to boost our likes and create our city but due to the game their were so many riots and the game was locked for bigger police force. Dont put out a game that isnt helpful and doesnt allow room for you to grow within the game. Horrible.

Maybe a term limits option? Something where you can set having term limits to see how many points or money you can make in that time to compare scores to other people. Or just have it at no limits. Our proposed term limit range is 1-5 terms. Also, maybe there could be an event option called campaign and you could do it every few days to make an election year more interesting. Enactment date would be cool. Maybe after an election you lose, you have a certain amount of time before the game ends to finish stuff up and maybe still extend your term by a month after. If there was an opponent for elections. An opponent that posts on social media, and even has their own approval rating to have more fun during elections.

Really good game, hoping for more updates.

The ads run ridiculously frequent. If you enable the auto-time feature each month passes at random. Days pass randomly. Game mentions it takes 30 seconds for 1 day to pass and 15 minutes for a month to pass. We’ve had months pass back to back within 30 seconds after each of which we had to watch at least one 5-10 second ad. Fun concept but the ads are a bit out of control and the time feature must be fixed.

The bones are there, but the developer needs to reevaluate utilities needed- we can have 10 landfills and that still wont be enough for a city with 5,000. We have no idea how to make a profit starting from a vacant city, even with the largest budget. Ads are a little annoying but not bad. We can see myself coming back after the developer addresses balance issues.

This is more for the developer than consumers but this is what we’ve found in about 2 hours of play. We like the idea of this game and hope to offer several constructive criticisms. 1. Building names being set to null when bought 2. Extend term sometimes breaks game and there is no new election or monthly reports. Just endlessly clicking the next month button 3. (Not a bug) Buy buttons can sometimes be frustrating as theyre so small 4. We’ve found several times once public approval goes to 0 there is no way to get it back up (potential calculation error with 0?) 5. Tax rates and public approval. We set our tax rate incrementally higher up to 100% and public approval did not drop, but the citizens rioted at 100% taxes with a 100% approval rate.

We will gladly update review if it turns out Im dumb, but when we enter sandbox mode we cannot make any purchases.

Way too many ads. Hard to really get into the flow of the game when you are bombarded by ads. Cut the ads in half, then cut that in half like 4 or 5 more times and youd still have a lot of ads but maybe enough to allow us to enjoy the game.

The ADs are outrageous. This would be such a fun game had it not been for the ADs, which kills it. We dont play it for that long because the ads seem so frequent. If this game was affordable buyable, Id buy it. But we guess theres bigger profit in monetizing via ads. At least change the frequency of the ads or something!

Im getting ads every 45 seconds and bombarded with random events its making the game unplayable but otherwise this is a really fun simple time passing game!!

Cant buy any building at all when you select unlimited budget.

Chill with the ads. We were really having fun but the game decided to not respect our later saves and today we have 1000% more ads (I was able to play without any/only optional). Also, learn to manage states and maybe actually utilize iPhones background abilities/memory? No reason at all for a game in 2021, of this simplicity , to not be able to run in the background and to retain its state and other data. Good luck! This game is really fun otherwise and had us hooked for 2 hours last night.

Tried to play this game, restarted it eight times. Settings just flat out never matter. We turn on manual time, and yet days and months still automatically pass. We turn on tutorial, and theres silence. We turn on elections, we remain godking of our town.

Nothing really ever happens and its confusing to work! Had high hopes, but was very disappointed!

One: make laws, Two: add taller buildings, Three; make a map like locations, Four: make your own mods, five: use mods, six: maybe add capital cities, seven: last one (Inflation!)

It is possibly one of the best ideas for a type of game. We would suggest only to make it more accessibly organised. For example, it doesnt have to show every house or business one by one, when you can integrate it by showing a total number of them etc. And also create a more realistic way of dealing with the energy needed numbers, or emergency workers numbers, a lot of money is gone by trying to fulfill those needs.

One of the least user friendly games. If it actually told you what to do we would like it better.

Look we get the free game ad policy but each month lasts 60 seconds and each month is followed by an ad like we dont want to spend 34% of our time watching ads its not worth it.

Would love help on how to employ residents.

From the amazing social media manager to the nice and relaxing gameplay this has a chance to overtake bitlife….. Just dont sell it this time please…… Also good job for not collecting data.

We love this game. The idea is amazing and not anything we’ve see before. Of course it needs more. It is very confusing in some aspects like; learning how to make money, how to read the stats of your city. Keep working hard on this game and it could be bigger then Bitlife.

With us being a huge fan of this game we think there should be some improvements … Once the city gets to a certain population. We feel the population should grow on its own. This could be due to immigration. And numerous of more reasons … And the population shouldn’t grow based off the housing you buy. It should be more things to add attraction to the city to pull more people into the city and etc. Then with that we can add deaths of citizens then possibly births of new citizens and more so. This is just an idea that we think would be a great addition for the game .. We think the population could also decrease if your are mayor for ever without re election and and acceptance rate goes down the people as the population should have a choice to leave or not . Just another idea that we think that would fit perfectly with this game.. More real life corruption and overall better public relations and events.. Such as corrupt politician events and etc. Love the game. Huge fan of all of the games keep it thanks for taking the time to read.

The game is incredibly fun to play. It is a game we’ve played for only a couple hours but Im addicted. At first we were going to delete the game because all our buildings were gone because of a bug, but they fixed the problem immediately and we decided to keep it. We hope the game developers continue to update the game because we see great potential. We recommend people to get the game because its fun, easy, and a good time killer.

If it werent flooded with ADs, this game would be enjoyable. It takes only a few minutes to get through 1 month. At the end of the month, when your monthly report pops up, it asks you if you want to watch an AD to double your income for that month. We never say yes on any game with this option, as we hate our games being interrupted by unnecessary ADs. We said no, same as always, with this game and was still flooded with ADs. If you enjoy ADs, play this game. If you arent as annoyed by ADs as we am, its worth the download. We played it MAYBE 4 hours total before we had to un-install it due to the number of ADs. Its fun and addicting, but not worth the ADs, IN MY OPINION.

Couldnt play this game for more than 2 minutes without an ad showing up. Liked the idea of the game, but the relentless spamming with ads is unbearable. Made it unplayable. There is no incentive for the ads. No reward at all. Uninstalled, hope for an update with less ads at a later date.

Havent played it but love it.

Nice game but instalife needs to come back.

So we immediately found this game interesting. As most that are playing it now, we came from Prayr. We never really played a sim city like before, so our first play through was a complete mess. Went broke and didnt know where to go from there. Admittedly, we got mad and deleted the app. The next day, however, we tried again. We started small and really began to get to know the game. We were determined to build a clean, tropical island settlement. We find it difficult to figure out how to gain decent income. Even with all the information on screen, we always had way more jobs and utility buildings versus the population. The corrupt money pop ups are rarely worth the drop in public opinion, yet its also not hard to build it back up with an event and 100% on basic necessities. Perhaps the better route is to play like a corrupt slum lord but eh. We were still beginning to enjoy myself on the benevolent route and was getting close to the end of our first year as mayor. Then, after an ad from the monthly report screen, all our data just… Poofed. Disappeared into the ether. Keep in mind, we not only had auto save on, but also saved manually a few times. The data went from the end of October 2021 to January of year 0001 with a ton more money, no buildings and our 800ish population all suddenly homeless. We went to load, and nothing changed. We were very disappointed, having played with the upmost concentration for well over an hour prior to the data loss. Feeling discouraged, we came here to give a review. Like Prayr, the concept is lovely. And like Prayr, it still needs a lot of ironing out to truly get lost in and enjoy the game for any longer than a few minutes on the toilet. Ill keep it installed and see what happens. Im still cheering you guys on, looking forward to the updates and we hope our review had some helpful feedback.
