Find out what gamers are saying about Solar Explorer: New Dawn:

Thanks for fixing the banding on the video – we were only a couple levels in (had just unlocked past the moon), and it was worth restarting just to see the video in its full glory. And excellent work on subduing the skip button – its WAY less distracting than it was against the black of space. After playing more than the five minutes of our original review, we think we largely retract our suggestion of allowing restarts at approach/deceleration/touchdown segments – if ever you do consider it, we think Id limit it only to the very first landing (while the tutorials are still guiding you). If we could give any further feedback, it wouldnt be the gameplay – thats great thus far. Perhaps the font sizes and weights on the mission screens could be slightly more coherent, but now were really getting into minutiae. Nice update!

Destiny 1 and 2 needed this type of element to fill the void between planetary missions. Honestly what you have here is a literal masterpiece. Particularly as a multi-platform mobile game. We were a space and aeronautics nerd as a kid and grew up in the 80s(NASAs glory years). Our favorite game as a kid was the moon lander game that was in the Huntsville Space and rocket center in Alabama. This game is about as close as it gets to the mechanics but obviously a quantum leap on the graphics side of things. We wish you the best and look forward to seeing anything that comes down the DEV production chute.

This space game has been the best we have ever played, thanks for that, but we have been looking forward to it, we have won it in 48 hours, we wish that in the future more planets and moons will be added.

This game is so fun for us since we love space and rockets. But one thing, if you could make another solar Explorer: game to colonize the outer solar system that would be great!

We tried this game after seeing a review of it on App Spy, and was not disappointed! Having a lot of fun with it. And we like how it was developed by one person- Im trying to teach myself iOS programming and would love to make an app like this one day Keep up the good work! Cant wait to see your next game.

Wow, we love the physic in this game. Im not a huge gamer but we cant stop playing!

This game is really good but one thing we would like to see come true is new rockets for every new planet you unlock just like for Mars there could be a bfr/starship.

We saw a review about the skip button being to in the way and with the update they fixed it. The game is a good game we are having a lot of fun with it so get it if you want to.

Crashes on iPad 6th generation until you update the software iOS to 13.5.1. We really enjoy the game now. Great graphics!

We have successfully completed each landing on Mars and its two moons. What must we do to get to the next planet?

Been seeking a Lunar Landing type game for what seems like years …. Finally something worthy of our attention we’ve played thru Mars this far have the following observations… 1. Text is way too small to read. Wish there was a pinch to zoom feature. We realize there is a lot of information to digest but we cant tell what is pertinent or simply cool factor GUI stuff. 2. Text to the right side of screen to chopped off on our iPhone Max. We can sorta figure out what it reads but that coupled with the small text doesnt help 3. We noticed on the Mars landings as you make your decent in-planet when attempting to land and you go off course there NEEDS to be arrows or some other clear indicators on how to get back on track. We get that that planet visibility is simulating the lack of visibility but the directional arrows would be helpful for newbies. Maybe a toggle for those who want to go in fully blind and then up the bonus colonist for it would be kinda of cool. But definitely put something there. 4. Pet Peeve- Overall we’ve noticed REGARDLESS of how tight your Initial decent in space is AND/OR on to the planet surface if screw up at the last second you are WAY off course. Conversely, we’ve noticed you could totally go off course at beginning and yet if you realign at the last second you are golden. There is no obvious reward or penalties for staying steady the vast majority of time vs simply going off course then re-calibrating at the last second. More penalties such as more fuel consumption or less fuel consumption bonus should be applied to ensure folks stay-on target most of the time. Over all the game had keep our attention- keep up the good work. Graphics are awesome. Music is a bit repetitive and usually put it on mute but otherwise its definitely our worth the price of admission.

[edit: +1 star for dev response]. As a Kerbal vet we had high hopes for this game, but was very disappointed. Many basic features this game needs to be fun / interesting are missing. We shouldnt have to but we will list them here: 1. Choosing your own re-entry plan as part of the planning element. 2. A readout of total delta-V and duration of each re-entry stage during staging and actual play. Need impact time displayed as well. We have no idea what a good velocity is during the various stages so we cant budget fuel use. 3. Maneuver thrusters DO NOT use the same fuel as the main engines and should not become disabled if you run out of main fuel. 4. Allow the user to adjust fuel load during planning stage, which affects TWR, delta-V, CofG, etc. 5. WAY more equipment options for basically everything in planning stage. 6. A strategic element where you actually plan the missions to satisfy overall planetary goals given a budget and other limitations. Your scope is WAY too narrow for this to remain interesting for more than 10 minutes. We hate to say it but Simple Rockets has you beat and thats a much older game that is basically made in Flash. New Dawn has lots of potential, but it needs to be fleshed out into a more engaging game.

We Tried To Play This Game, Hours Later, Stopped Playing. Please Make It Easy.

We cant land perfectly due to the ship exploding when hitting ground and how do we even fix this??

Good landing game, controls work well, but gets repetitive real fast.

Is game is so hard we cant finish a level please fix it we could give it five.

Great game but the amount as asteroids is highly unrealistic and their placement is game breaking. Why is the game sending ten large asteroids with no spaces between them? Covering the whole trajectory? Or asteroids from behind you with no where to move to? It happens frequently. Great game like we said but come on.

On any planet land at are 3-4 kph will instantly destroy you no updates also.

Its to hard on. The easy setting.

The graphics are amazing the concept is amazing the way you have to fly to the planets to get resources and colonize them is amazing this game is so worth more than three dollars but developer we wish you could make A sandbox mode then you could race other players and see who has the fastest rocket and you can build your own rocket with custom paint in engines.

So, if Im being honest… We didnt love this game at first. We played a couple missions and we were like… Okay? Now what. Later that day, we think the visuals and music stuck with us… Couldnt get it out of our head. So we started playing it again… And we started to really love it. As the challenge ramped up, so did the fun. Seeing the numbers climb on your colony, figuring out the right load-out. The physics of a new planet… Having to change your strategy. It is a lot of fun, and it doesnt hold your hand, in a good way. Oh, and we touched on it… But the music and visuals in this game are great. We hope you keep updating this game, adding more content… Because you have a gem that we will keep coming back to!

We very rarely write game reviews, but we felt compelled to say this game is stunning. Our only disappointment is that it ends! Id love an expansion where we get to further develop the inner planets and develop new technology to star colonizing the dwarf planets in the asteroid belt and outer planet moons! Ok, maybe we’ve been watching The Expanse too much, but we think its a great idea.

Man this game is really fun the story and excitement its addicting and thats what we like about it we hope you can add more planets and more parts for rockets we hope you keep updating the game.

We love how the physics are realistic but at the same time not too hard to master. We really wish there was a way to for there to be procedurally generates planets so that we could play this game forever without the game ending, maybe you could attempt to add some time type of infinite mode; we would like to add that the graphics on this game are console quality and we are very surprised how you were able to pull this off without a phone overheating. Very well done.

We think this is a great mobile game with very nice and fluid graphics, fitting and soothing music, and enjoyable gameplay. Nice job! We love how youre very open to adding and improving to the game based on others input because that is the definition of an open-minded and successful creator. This game has plenty of potential for sure. Maybe the solar system could be moveable? The planets/moons could also be rotatable, there could be mini-games where the gameplay is different. The game is currently repetitive, you know? Very fun to play, but even as it gets more challenging, its the same movements and goals. Implementing iCloud save would be very helpful too if it doesnt have it already. But we love the games mechanics, and we admire the work put into it! Cant wait to see how the game evolves! (One issue right now is that Im stuck – we finished the missions on the moon, and we dont know what to do to move on to Mars. We know that we need more resources, and it looks like we should replay the first missions, but we did and havent gotten more resources. What should we do? Im sure Im missing something.) EDIT: we just read another review where you explained it. So we have to keep repeating the missions to gain resources. Never mind then, all good!

We’ve been getting frustrated lately because alot of mobile games these days have poor graphics, ridiculous ads and get boring after an hour or two. We came across this game in our desperate search for a good game and we were skeptical at first because of the cost, but after all the reviews were positive we installed it. This game is probably the best 2.99 we’ve spent with our apple account so far. The graphics are of Xbox/PS4 quality and the controls are incredibly smooth. Our only critique would be for there to be a few more customizations available. Perhaps different tiers of landing legs that would be necessary for larger fuselages and would allow for higher touchdown velocities or optional meteor shielding to increase the HP of the craft. The higher the tier of these items, the more mass they would have and therefore play a role in the TWR of the craft. The discovery of this game has ended our long search for a good game and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for an entertaining game.

Good game but the moon has no atmosphere so in landing its like landing on a moon with atmosphere.

Incredible. Beautiful and great soundtrack.

This game has beautiful graphics that are polished. Dont want to see a cut screen? Just tap skip. The controls while simple to use, even for a disabled person like myself, still require a lot of skill to use. It took us 7 times to actually land the first time on normal. The game has so many unlockable parts and achievements as well as unpredictable missions. Theres so much fun to be had here for such a small asking price. Thank you devs for a beautiful and fun game. The physics are top notch. This game deserves a ***** rating easily. We noticed no bugs or lag on our iPhone XS MAX.

What a Beautiful game! Love everything about the game but one thing. Its just the same three missions over and over again with different backgrounds. Even as pretty as it is it got old to play.

Well done developers! What a fun and initiative game! Like nothing we have ever played before. Having said that Im a part time gamer, so games dont come easy to us like maybe the rest of these pros. Im good at entry, the level out but Im absolutely horrible at landing. Anytime Im out of the yellow land zone we may as well restart. Is there anyway you guys can make a training zone where we can practice on what we need practicing on, rather than having to restart each level. At that point you got an automatic 5 star for the game. If only we could go to practice landing over and over until we become proficient at it. Again phenomenal game, Im having a lot of fun!

What a great title for mobile- wonderful graphics and soundtrack. Thanks for making a pay to play title with no ads or subscriptions!

We completed all the missions on the first planet but the game will not move on to the next planet. Im stuck redoing the exact same missions over n over. Do you have to complete the missions perfectly to advance? If so then this was a waste. Edit: thanks for the assistance. After your instruction we were able to advance. We do wish it was a little more obvious or if there was some in game guidance.

Fun game, however we seem to be continually stuck at 80% on the moon level, we complete the levels and still advance no further, we would also agree with the prior review of being able to retry the failed stage and not being forced back to the begging, perhaps allow this for easier difficulties but removed for harder difficulties? The game is fun and challenging Im just lost as too why Im stuck at 80% on the moon stage unable to advance.

Challenging with beautiful graphics. Harder than it looks especially with the meteors and outside landing zone approaches. However, we found myself losing interest after reaching Phobos. Just gets repetitive. Great work though.

We love the game. The graphics are stunning. Our left thruster only works sporadically during the first descent portion of all mission s causing our ship to get beat up.

Great physics and graphics and pretty fun. Im glad we could just pay a couple bucks and not get stupid ads or buy ons. We liked the idea of unknown signals on the moon curious if there is a cut scene or something related to that story. Great job on this game. When will you do the outer solar system?

We really did enjoy the game but it was quite short. We’ve completed the entire game through the weekend. Hopefully in the future more will be added.

Looks good and is fun for a bit. Then it gets repetitive and boring. Story is fairly short and bare bones too. Right now its not worth the money.

We want to rate this 5 stars but the beginning is a huge flaw. You get into the game and hit face 3 difficult stages, back to back, with no checkpoints. You miss the third one, you go right back to the beginning. Its a huge turn off for new players when its way too hard to even start the game.

First off, the graphics and sounds in this game are great really love that. Also the first two entry stages arent too bad to handle and are pretty fun. However, we’ve had a lot of trouble with the landing stage. Could there be some assistance with the first landing to help you get used to it? There is the short video that explains how to land it but its still pretty difficult, and we have yet to successfully do so. Also, like the last review we read said, there needs to be checkpoints; going through the first two stages again every time we fail the landing is really irritating.

We are not good at runners with ultra sensitive controls, nor do we enjoy them enough to suffer their repetitive frustration. Great graphics, but our least favorite type of game play, so its ruined for us. If you like ultra sensitive controls with little to no forgiveness for error and being forced to fail receptively to then try the same task again and again, by all means buy it. At least it is pretty to look at.

We want our money back. We tried this game for an hour and all you literally do is play the same minigame and land on planets. Nothing really changes. Not exactly worth the money in our opinion. By all means, the graphics are beautiful, but this game is just unplayable to us. Please refund our money.

We tried 5 times to land on the landing point but noooooo the rocket goes crazy and it doesnt land he just goes left and we need to turn him right and he spins BUT we DONT WANT THAT SO MAKE IT EASY PLZZZZZ.

All you do in the game is do the same thing over and over again at different difficultys.

This is a runner app posing as a… Spacecraft handling app? Who the f knows. Game designer simplified deorbitting a spacecraft that has 6 degrees of freedom (xyz translation, pitch, roll, yaw) into a simple three control runner app filled with annoying unrealistic mechanics. Save your money.

Awesome game. Cannot put it down. Graphics are beautiful. Worth every penny and some. Just do it. You wont regret it. The only item that seems to get us, is after a mission. Its not always clear what you have to do next.

Challenging with great graphics. Addicting and exciting. This is one well-done app. Its reMarkable. Thanks.
