What Makes Spectromancer HD Stand Out

Super fun and straightforward game. Reporting a small bug though. We bought the expansions. When playing as Sorcerer in League of Heroes, it crashes out of the game each time we cast Sonic Boom. Thats not fun. Please fix.
This game is a true gem. Partly made by the mind behind magic the gathering, it has some similarities to magic, but appreciable differences. The game is FUN to play, and addictive in our case. It is not a money grabber either. You pay the up front price, then you can unlock a few decks for a few bucks extra if you choose. Thats it. Its exactly what we needed something thats not magic, but plays like magic. The game has a very nostalgic feel to it as well. Love it.
Ive played Spectro since the beginning, way back in our PC days with this game. We still love this game. We are so thankful for the developers putting up a patch here at IOS 16. Thank you! If you ever decide to add more expansions, Im in. Honestly everybody, where Magic the Gathering is a great game, albeit rather bloated, from the fun days up until Urzas Saga/Mercadias masks, this game remains fun in a similar but different way WITHOUT being a money hog. This satisfies our fantasy card-like game desires in so many ways. We would still love to see a few more archtypes someday.
We thought this was no longer available on IOS, or that it didnt work anymore but after a recent upgrade Spectromancer on the IPad and iPhone seems to work just fine. Im back to enjoying the crap out of this. Its one of our top solo favorites. Ive not played recently online so dont have any notes there though we seem to recall it working in async mode (our favorite way to play most games).
We have played the game for nearly 16 years discontinuously, from ipad mini first gen to now the ipad pro. Always a great game to play. Happy to be able to play now, but could be more delightful if the broken bug fixed when using power chain or time zoom. It should be surely 5 stars app without this annoying bug.
The game hasnt been updated in a very long time, so you have to rotate your iPad to get it to work. But once it is working, its great.

Id had this back when it was still available for iPhone. Id forgotten just how good this game is. There is a lot of gameplay for not much money, with solo games, leagues, and a campaign. And for a few bucks more you can unlock sets of additional characters and their card sets for even more variety. Highly recommended.
We never write reviews and this will be our first ever. But we absolutely love this game. We wish more people would check it out and wish they still had the iPhone version. To fix the issue with it hanging on the home screen. Make sure auto rotation lock is turned off on your iPad. Make sure to flip the iPad 180 degrees and the screen will turn rotation, then do it again the other way and then it works. The keyboard is wonky but once you log in once youll never have to deal with it again. Ive been looking for games like this for so long. We hate building decks and just want a fun card playing game with pre built decks and this is exactly it. We hope someday they come out with Spectromancer 2. This is the only game we ever play on iPad and its worth every cent.
But since the last update, the game keeps hanging and becomes unplayable, especially when certain cards are played. Mostly chaos wave. We hope this gets fixed soon, and that we get more customization options.

Simple to pick up, with fun mechanics and lots of replayability.
Is there anybody gonna mention here that you cannot change your character name in Single or Campaign mode for that matter as it automatically crashes when you start typing. We love the game as it reminded us of Astral Tournament and Astral Masters card battle strategy style that is similar to Magic the Gathering. We dont have any issues with the entire game but ATTENTION to the Developers, please fix this crashing issue even if its just a little deal.
This used to be one of our favorite games for the iPad. We mean, it was developed by Richard Garfield (of Magic: The Gathering fame) and was just so much fun to play. After years of not playing, we reinstalled it and was having a blast. But then it got very buggy. Main menu screen buttons wouldnt work (switching to Home Screen and then back or rotating 180 degrees fixes this) and it crashed rather frequently. Now, in the middle of a League of Heroes tournament, we cant go one turn without the game crashing. Force quitting, restarting iPad, and reinstalling the game doesnt work. This is a 5 star game with so many catastrophic bugs that we cant give it more than 2 stars. Looks like 1 star if we cant get it to play for more than 5 seconds. Such a shame.
Absolute no response to any clicks iOS 14.5 iPad Pro 12.9 2nd gen After a half dozen tries, no success, today buttons are live on first try. Will try to play and adjust rating. As another reviewer commented, rotating the screen fixes frozen start for us. Nothing fancyjust turn 180 degrees (we have screen lock OFF).
This is one of our favorite game! We recommended it to our many friends. Since we updated iPadOS 16 the application has rotation issue. It is still working, but stays in portrait mode instead of in landscape mode. Im hopping youll fix this issue. Thank you in advance. Also Astral Masters is our another favorite game, which is not in the AppStore anymore, nether in our purchased list. As we know you create this game too, If so, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Bring it back to alive (we love Astral Masters more then Spectromancer, but they both are our besties).
The game hangs on the main screen. None of the buttons work and it hasnt been updated in years. Precisely why we dont buy games on the iPad anymore. No regulation and games eventually become unplayable.
Ive played Spectromancer on the pc for years and just tried to load it on our iPad and it plays the background music but none of the buttons work. We updated our iPad and its supposedly compatible but nothing works in this game. Please help.
Spectrometer very quickly became our favorite iPad game. And then IOS 9 came along and now the game no longer works. PLEASE design a fix.
This is the best card game available in our opinion, please come back to update we are very sad that we can no longer play this.

Hang on Kard Combat, we're gonna let you finish, but Spectromancer is one of the greatest card games of ALL TIME.
So far the only game that we can compare this to is Hearthstone, although we think we like this one even more. Different in some ways, but in all ways mostly better, and you can also change the difficulty level on it if you are just starting out. Dont hesitate to get this one. We even did all the IAP (which generally we dont do since its usually gems and shards or coins..crap like that). What about bringing in more features, spells, and categories developer, even though there is PLENTY to keep us busy? We WANT MORE.

We love having a global chat in a card game. Most ios card games don't do this and we wish more would. This is a fantastic game. Please continue to update. We have no idea how to buy the expansions. We would probably buy them if we knew how to do so.

So much fun. Not too challenging and we like all the wizard types. One of our all time favorite iPad games, we just wish the spells could be configured to be less random or hand picked for different kinds of opponents. We still recommend it to card game fans. :).

Great game play. Strategy card game type, similar feel to Magic. Occasionally freezes and requires us to quit the program, losing the game in progress.
Give the online version a try and see if you like. Good replayability and depth.
You can't build your deck?! PC version is better for that reason alone. 4$ down the toilet.

Well had this game for years and it appears the game has not been updated for a while. Shame…. It was a very good game, but can't even play as it crashes upon start every time with the most recent update as of Oct 2015.
Great game, but the developers are just terrible about updating their games for new devices. Please update the graphics for the retina display iPad & iPhone 5, cause right now the graphics look so blurry on our iPad we barely want to play anymore. On our iPhone 5 it still has black bars from only being optimized for the smaller screen.

First Review we have ever written for an Ipad game. We played this on the PC when it first came out a few years ago and we don't remember it being this good. It seems they've added some things to make it even better. If anyone knows of any other card game similar to this other than Kard Combat (a total rip-off of this), please let us know. This is the best one we've found. We've been playing on 'hard' and it's quite a challenge. The art work is great. The music is excellent (although as someone else mentioned, it is a little repetitive – maybe they could add some more tunes as an update). But none of this gets in the way of the really great gameplay. It makes you think ahead. But, it never seems to get tedious. This review is just for the single player. While we usually don't get into online gaming against real people, this game is definitely making us reconsider. Excellent choice, you won't regret it. Easily 5 stars.
We have played since the game was first released and it has kept us entertained ever since.
Simpler version of Magic: The Gathering. The only downside is… No custom decks in multiplayer mode.
Easy to learn, good strategy, great graphics, fast play. Excellent magical combat system.

This is a very good game. Kind of like Magic but plays really fast and it easy to learn. Cool illustrations on the "cards" and decent sounds and graphical effects (for a "card" game). Worth way more than the $1 we paid for it. Get it.
