The Talos Principle Reviews

Had a blast playing this. The puzzles are challenging but not impossible. Often, the answer to one of them would come to us just before we went to sleep at night or after we went and tried a different level for a bit. By the time we reached the last part of the game we were totally engaged and curious about how it would end. Hope they make a part two or a similar adventure! Thanks to all the developers and various teams who created and helped get this game out to us. You guys are awesome!

The Talos Principle will always be one of our favorite games. Yes, the graphics are gorgeous, but the story is even better. There are also a lot of philosophical questions that you are asked, which really make you think. 100%

We gave this game a 5/5. Great graphics, sound, music, and gameplay. The only thing that had us at the beginning was the controls but once we went into the menu and found the right control setting for us the game is so much more smooth and fluid. With all that said its not that graphics, the puzzles, or sound that really grab our interest but the story. This philosophical aspect to it is amazing. Im not finished with the game yet but definitely enjoying it!

A truly challenging puzzle game that really helps you with your Maze.

At first glance this game seems simply like a well constructed puzzler. However once we got into it it was apparent that this was much, much more. Its non-linear design is fantastic and Im totally hooked. Some of the puzzles are very difficult and some quite simple. It gives a good change of pace and there is a phenomenal story and feel to the whole thing. Im totally hooked. We personally changed the controls and we find it much more engaging to use the virtual game pad style.

Surprisingly huge amount of content. Thinking of other $5 mobile games, we thought we were about finished, only to find we were just a quarter way through! They say its 30 hours of content. That might be true if you knew the solution to every puzzle and clicked straight through. Its easily five times that. Two favorite things about the game: 1. It provides many satisfying … But what if I… Ah ha! Moments. (Sometimes you have to put it away for a day before the answer comes to you.) 2. The amazing soundtrack that changes personality to match the world youre in. Its one of the few games we play with the music on. Two nits: 1. The touch target could be more forgiving. (If Im tapping on a drone that might kill us, we probably dont mean we want to walk towards it.) If weve figured out the solution to the puzzle, it can be frustrating to be foiled by the mechanics of the controls. 2. Yes, like another reviewer said, we miss some of the terminal conversation text as it scrolls by. Im just hoping they werent pivotal clues to the final solution. Thanks for producing a great game, with amazing attention to detail, at a steal of a price!

Love the game, hate the controls. The mini gamepad controls seem best for us but when we have to move fast it isn’t pretty. Anyway, still playing.

We love this wonderful idea of a game. We feel like its a problem solving simulation like experience…. Thanks for this wonderful Ride YOOO*

Indeed at first we were worried about it now cant get enough of talos and we understood it now we enjoy it more and more this game is not for everyone.

We were able to immerse myself in this world and successfully work our way through all of the mind-bending challenges using our iPad Pro. 5 stars, and we wish there were more like this Talos Principle around. In a class of its own.

Hello, how can we buy all the extra campaigns thanks! Road to Gehenna!!!! We’ve NEVER had a problem with the controls! We find them to work awesome fast and smooth. Just have to get a little used to it or turn up the sensitivity. We guess it is finicky sometimes to find certain points you need to connect to with the beams but other than that no probs.

We rarely write good reviews. As we are genuinely disappointed in iOS games. Talos principal IS BEYOND OUTSTANDING. The best story of any iOS game. Beautifully constructed graphics. Awesome puzzles! Terrific ambience! We swapped the controls because we are more used to classic style. Still the best game on the App Store, playing for 2 months. Amazing game! Totally amazing!

We used our new IPad for this game and had no movement issues. We used the over the left shoulder view (not first person) and found it quite easy to get around. We were able to control our speed easily and left side of the iPad used a joystick control for forward back and left right while right finger anywhere else was used for direction we were looking The puzzles were excellent, the story line was captivating and graphics for 3D were the best. We think the price is well below what was delivered. We thought all of the Room I, 2 & 3 series and Da Vinci game were the best but we have to Give Talos the nod.

Brief review: we love this game, and the core gameplay – getting all intended gameplay levels, sigils, stars and endings – works well (not perfect) on tough. Not quite as smooth as mouse-and-keyboard on PC, but we have played a 100% game multiple times on iOS and it is very very doable. Our only complaints are that there are a few graphical things that dont display right on iOS (like the mirror or the fans on fan-supported platforms), Road to Gehenna isnt available, and iOS controls DO make it almost impossible to reach some of the games many Easter eggs that involve precise platforming. SPOILERS AHEAD For WaterBear55: Egyptian Arcade isnt impossible – your setup is busted. SPOILERS: two gates (lets call the one closer to the key inner and the other outer) and two corresponding mines. 1: release inner ours and use jammer(s) to get them floating as close as possible to each other. 2: while mines are floating towards inner gate, place a jammer jamming outer gate on BOTH sides of the gate. Ours distance gives you plenty of time. You now have a jammer in between gates. 3: grab outer jammer. Gate will stay open from the inner jammer. Wait for mines to be as far away from key as possible, then jam the inner ours. It will hold both mines away from the outer gate with room to move past. 4: switch inner jammer to inner gate, grab keys, and reverse all moves to leave mines locked inside outer gate and you can proceed through the key doorway. No part of this involves having to rapidly do a bunch of difficult touch-control moves impossibly fast. You convinced yourself your setup was the only way. Good luck!

The iOS version of this game is super well optimized, on our iPhone 13 Pro it actually plays a lot better than our Xbox One X (worse image quality, but much higher and more stable framerate). This game does need to be updated to support ProMotion, the frame rate is consistently high and but persistent judder makes it feel less than entirely smooth.

Also reminiscent of portal. Less humor and more serious tone. The basic level is good and doable. Getting all the stars or the advanced ending will either take tremendous patience or sneaking a peak at online tips here and there.

How is it you a hit like this game and have yet to follow up on it with a part 2?

A-mazing. Just excellent! Put on some head phones, turn out the lights, and enjoy being immersed in this world. The graphics are pretty good. The play is great. Very well done game for the person who likes puzzle, escape adventure type of 3D adventure games, a bit of suspense. We definitely recommend this.

Buy this game! Developer put so much love into this pocket world, that you can just walk around and gaze at its beauty. Puzzles grow in complexity from simple to really tough. But theres never a point when puzzle cant be beaten with logic and observation. We’ve missed the last star inside the tower and thats the only time we needed to look on youtube wheres the 30th star in the game. Game tells a compelling story. Voice acting is fantastic. You really see the story of human tragedy as it unfolds. Some easter eggs too. Three possible endings. Just terrific. We’ve put almost 50 hours as per in-game timer to reach the end. Buy. This. Game. You wont regret it. PS playing on ipad pro. Touch controls, no controller.

Great graphics and story line. We highly recommend this game.

We have to say that after playing this, all other games seem disappointing. It is very frustrating and challenging at times but well worth playing. Only issue we have is that we had almost completed everything and it seems we walked through a gate that ended our game and reset all progress. We would have loved to have made it up the tower as that seems like the ultimate goal. Not sure we will invest all the time again to reach the point in the game we had previously achieved. All in all very enjoyable gameplay, but disappointing way to end it for us.

Totally fantastic and immersive game, it worth more than what is offered we would gladly buy this on console.

(Please do yourself a favor and get this game on console or pc instead of ruining the experience with touch controls. This game deserves it.) Story This game makes you question your existence by asking profound philosophical questions about the nature of consciousness and what it means to be human. Gameplay Very fun and well thought out puzzles with a beautiful world modeled after ancient Greece.

Im literally blown away but the sheer amount of content there is for this game, and that its available for anything under $30!! Most games like these we can finish in a day or two, but this one kept us (someone who is very ADHD) occupied through quarantine for like a week! Theres so many little easter eggs and hidden treats that make exploring every inch of the world absolutely worth it. On top of all that, we found the story remarkably relevant considering uh… The global pandemic, LOL. It was really nice to see the sheer love for humanity, even with all our past and current mistakes, in practically every inch of the story. So many stories that deal with the kind of situation this game presents would take the humanity is inherently evil and destroying the world path and we’ve heard enough of that ecofascist bull in the past weeks to last us a lifetime, so it was a treat to be able to open up this game and see a story that actually values life, individual lives, and just all the beautiful creativity of humanity. Thank you so much for helping making our quarantine a little less hellish!

Wonderful game concept in all regards except the guards. We came here for a mental challenge, not a physical reflexes challenge and certainly not to expend what little adrenaline we have left after a day at work. Is there a version without guards? Beautiful graphics and creative puzzles. We particularly like that its not explained, as we enjoy figuring things out and it makes the fun last longer. Im quitting, though, after only finishing three or four of the rooms. Its so lovely, that we hate to leave it undone. But facing the guards makes us feel nervous and angry. Not our idea of a game.

Update for iPhone X: one small bug. Please change the persistent iOS home indicator from being persistent to auto-hide. As it is now, not only is it too easy to accidentally go home, the bright white bar really distracts from the games visuals. We loved this game on steam. We cant wait to play it again on iOS. So far, the graphics are awesome. The controls are a bit strange, but you can revert to a traditional two-stick scheme, which might be easier in some of the later levels where timing is critical. Bravo for bringing this awesome AAA game to iOS!

Challenging, beautiful, vast, intelligent, suspenseful, good story line, can replay levels. We could go on forever about it. We wish there was more!

The reason this game has maintained our attention for as long as it has is because it is unique. We enjoy the freedom and openness of the worlds. While some may find the puzzles monotonous, we enjoy the ability to manipulate the environment in various ways to solve them.

Got it for our IPad Pro. A great port for one of the greatest puzzle games ever made. Puzzle fans will not be disappointed.

It’s a very good game and has beautiful graphics (as is to be expected of a port of a pc game) but also will heat up your phone and has slightly clunky controls (as is to be expected of a port of a pc game). All in all, though, it’s an absolute steal at $5. Our only real criticisms for the game itself are that some of the ‘puzzles’ involving the robots feel less like puzzles and more like the reflex tests of an action game; and that it’s not always clear when the game is saved (there’s a saving indicator on the pc version we guess that didn’t make it into the mobile port?

We played this through recently as was quite impressed. Some puzzles did require that we ditch the default tap and swipe controls, and we eventually just kept using the virtual game pad. We noticed there was an expansion for other platforms and hope that gets ported to IOS, too. This game is definitely worth purchasing!

This game has brought us much more than we thought it would. The puzzles are sincerely genius and the learning curve is perfect. It starts off fairly easy and gains difficulty quickly. There are also many secrets to discover in this game. The secrets, while not required to find, are very satisfactory when you find them. We only have 5 stars left to find and will continue to look until we find them. We got to admit though, some of these stars seem impossible to find. Thanks developers for creating a great game. However, some of the secrets can not be gotten because of the controls.

Do you guys mind adding a higher poly count version of this game for iPad Pro or IPhone 8 and above users? We guess it doesnt seem quite as obvious on the phones but on the iPad Pro, the poly count and textures looks so low res and washed out compared to the PC version. Im not expecting it to be be on par with the pc but it seems like the graphics were designed with the 5s or 6 in mind. Would love to see a A title game looks its best on iOS.

Easily the most immersive iPad game we’ve played. Good puzzles that are challenging but arent too hard, and interesting storyline.

From the beautiful landscapes, thought provoking puzzles, and beautifully written story, The Talos Principle is by far one of the most amazing games we have ever played and probably ever will. We thoroughly enjoyed every second, and could hardly bring myself to stop until we had 100% the game and the DLC. If youre on the fence about getting this game we highly recommend it.

AMAZING!!! Lol climb the tower just do it.

We love this game! Beautiful graphics that transport you into another world. If youve ever played the old Myst or Riven games youll love this game. Some puzzles are easy and some we’ve yet to solve. No adds, no pay to win. A genuine game that relies on your own skill and intelligence.

Overall, Im maybe about half-way through the game and it is breathtaking. Graphics are incredible and the puzzles are very challenging, not to mention the story is thought provoking and intriguing. However, we are playing this on an IPhone 6s and find that the game occasionally crashes. It helps when we use low battery mode and airplane mode but we dont know if this is a compatibility problem or a problem with our phone. Luckily, the game is fun enough where the crashes arent a deal breaker.

This gam gud and fen af tbh. We giv it all stars.

The controls are frustrating on iPhone. We played through it on PC and loved it, but after trying for a few hours Im still not used to the controls that are limited and cumbersome on the touch screen format. They did as good of a job as they could converting the controls but its a game made to be played on PC or with a physical controller.

ABSOLUTELY GREAT GAME! However, the only issues we had were with the virtual gamepad as the movements are a bit wonky. But, for a mobile port of an excellent pc and console game, we think we can manage.

Im only about an hour in and we are entertained, intrigued, and very pleased. This is easily one of the best games available for iOS and deserves to be permanent resident in the top sales charts. If youre perusing the reviews to decide if this is worth buying, our opinion is a resounding yes. Solid and satisfying puzzles are the heart of the gameplay; immersive lighting, graphics, and ambient sound effects create a beautiful and believable world; top-notch voice acting hints at your place in this world; and an excellent plot and presentation keeps you searching for answers (and questions). The only negative points we saw in the reviews pertained to a somewhat frustrating default control scheme (switch to the virtual stick in the menu found in the upper-left corner of the screen), and occasional downloading problems (bug Apple). Scrolling through the reviews, Im impressed that the devs are paying a lot of attention to what is, for them, an older game (originally released in 2014). As someone who paid for Bioshock and Xcom (not cheap by iOS standards) only to see them abandoned and unplayable, we appreciate Croteams commitment. Apart from the obvious references to Greek mythology and Paradise Lost, Im also picking up vibes from Portal, 2001 – A Space Odyssey, and even the original Battlestar Galactica (the first voice reminds us of the Ship of Light). Just our impressions, and Im sure others will have equally varied thoughts. TLDR summary- buy it.

We would say that this is a thinking persons game: creatively designed, always some new twist. We finished the whole thing, and it was manageable, since each puzzle could be completed in a relatively reasonable time frame. A real pleasure!

This is the best adventure or puzzle game on the entire platform. Theres no contest. CroTeam smashed it out of the park when they made this game and bringing it to iOS is magic. We strongly recommend playing with a MFI controller. Hooked up to a TV, this game is gorgeous. Our son loves playing it too and seeing the gears turn in his head as he tries to solve these puzzles is a cherished memory Ill always have. Thanks CroTeam from a huge fan, and a father to another fan.

Challenging puzzles, immersive story line, thought-provoking philosophical dialog, beautiful graphics, and 10s of hours of content. Dont pass this one up.
