HOW TO PLAY TICKET TO RIDE®:
Players are dealt a number of tickets and must pick a certain number to keep (depending on the map).
Players are also dealt four train cards of various colours. This number can also vary depending on the map you’re playing on, but don’t worry – the AI takes care of this!
Each turn, players can draw two train cards from the face-up pile, draw two train cards from the face-down pile, draw another ticket to complete, or use their train cards to claim a route! A claimed route is shown by placing train pieces along the route.
When a player has three or fewer train pieces left, the last round starts. Whoever has the most points at the end of the game is the winner!

When we select cards to play, sometimes the cards disappear without giving us the option of picking the placement.
Revised – game is no longer freezing. Changing from 4 star to 5. Already great game modernized. We still enjoy the original version, but this is just as enjoyable and more inline with the times.
Since the issue of not being able to verify our birthday was resolved, we have been playing this game a lot! We really enjoy it.
We were reluctant to switch over to this app because we thoroughly enjoyed the original app. However, after being asked by a family member to download it and play with them, Ive really started to enjoy it. Here are our only two wishes for future development: 1) at the end of the game when it is going through your routes, we wish it was synched with your partners device so you saw the same results at the same time. Its probably not a big deal if youre not playing side by side, but if you are playing next to each other, one can see who the winner is before the other. 2) add back Germany, and for bonus points, add Rails & Sails. :).
Change invitation to say Accept or Reject and give more time to respond. Sometimes we dont have enough seconds to respond to the invitation.
Just that. Super fun when it works frustrating when it crashes.
The error message implies it is a network connection, so frustrating.
Theres no way to turn badging on iOS. So you dont see the little red numbers when playing an asynchronous game. You have to open up the app to check which is not great.
We have been playin this game for quite some time now and we do enjoy it, but lately it has started to crash too often. It is becoming annoying and unfair because you loose your stars. Please fix this.
This one makes multiplayer more complicated to set up. In addition, the fancier graphics make it harder to see if a train is placed or not on a given track section.
With each passing day it seems more and more like the game has very few human players. Is there anyway to say you dont want to play with bots? Or to identify who youre playing as a bot so we know we have to make illogical plays?! Ive been playing our for years and really miss the original game. We had faith this one would get there but we dont think Ive played a human in over a year.
About half our games freeze in the new update. Also not being able to see the number of cards held by other players cards without clicking is a downgrade. Fix these bugs please. Ruining the game.
GG but, the game freezes up when its your turn. This game will dump all of your scores. All of them! Start from scratch.
The cumulative stars ranking system on multi-player is so bad. Its not competitive at all. Players who play a lot of games, even if they have zero skills or intelligence, end up getting stars over time. Intelligent players might have low stars because they play a lower volume of games. Please introduce a more competitive ranking system besides stars, where the increase or decrease in rank is relative to the rank(s) of your opponent(s). PLEASE introduce a chat! We understand chats can be problematic, but there are ways to mitigate this / censor hate speech. Even if the chat was limited to emojis, that would be something. It is not fun to play online without any means of real-time communication.
We were a long time player of the beloved old version by the other dev. Used to play it ALL THE TIME with our family at holidays and Vacations. This new and different dev created version is a BIG downgrade in our opinion. Not only is its frustrating that we purchased all the expansion packs for the old version and would need to do it all over again for this one $$$. But the gameplay is not great at all. Its harder to read the map and cards. Seems like the colors are washed out. The local play is a giant pain in the butt. In the old version you could just play over wifi or BT to connect to other people. Now you have to each create an online account and dodge the bots and randos who are trying to join your game you just want to play with your friends and family. That not even mentioning the fact that it crashed and couldnt reconnect like 3 times. We guess we just wasted $4.99 :(.
Frequently when playing online, the game loses track of all players and doesnt let the game progress at all. Its amazing that they spent all this effort replacing the old version of the game (which had better music and visuals but was extremely buggy) with a new one thats still extremely buggy. We do not recommend spending money on this game until they fix the numerous technical issues.
This version takes up too much memory for our iPad. We also dont like paying for the new platform as well as all the variations we lost. We understand they sold it. Cant blame them, but we miss the old version.
Do you like playing Ticket to Ride when your opponent can see your destination cards and decide which train cards are at the top of the deck during your turn? Us neither.
Gameplay is good. Interface is fine. AI players can take 30-60 seconds just to decide to take 2 cards. Far too long for a single player game. Havent tried non battery saving mode so that might help, but if you want to sit down and bang out a few games in 30 minutes, this isnt your game. Update: Battery save mode off didnt appreciably speed up the game. But it caused the battery drop from 73% to 45% in a single game. Ill be holding off on the DLC until they address these issues. There was previously a better version of this game that they removed in favor of one with micro-transactions. Too bad, that version was amazing, and still had the other expansions available to buy. We dont know if it was the same company or not, but a clear example of removing a successful version and replacing it with a marginally functional one with higher revenue potential.
Sometimes we have enough train cards of the correct color but the app wont let us place them, its so frustrating. We hope this gets fixed.
Ive played this game since the original iterationbefore the modern versionand we think this version has exceeded the old one in every way. On any modern device, its fast, stable, and works excellently. Even when players go dormant, it handles things well. The expansions are OUTSTANDING. Its like having a whole trunk in your pocket. Its amazing. For fans of board games, social games, or any kind of gamethis is for you. Its really a gem.
We like the new Africa game, but this new update is unbelievably slow compared to previous version. Gotta do something about that. Also, please speed up the splash screens! All the times that you show graphics that arent relevant to the game, is such a waste of time. Remember that a lot of us are coming back-and-forth to the game throughout the day to play our turns, so you need to have the user experience quickly get us into the action.
Wouldnt even open; hung up on the first screen.
We used to love playing this game on an older version, but with this one, we dont like both versions of the map. They are too busy looking and the road colors are too small.
We have all games at the old app, and Us, Europe, NY, Amsterdam, and Netherland board games. We played this game for over 10 years so meet the professional.
Its just a chill game with chill trains.
Fun game solo works well! Online games are slow laggy and glitchy causing lost turn and ending of games.
We misunderstood the rule. Now we see how you start with 45. We updated the review. Great game but we were disappointed when the Game didnt end when we had only 1 or 2 cards at the end of our turn.
[[[An update: There seems to be a bug: two of our old games are stuck in our current games list, even though theyve been inactive for a long time. We left them due to a glitch that made it impossible to continue. Now they still are being showed as active, which is confusing and makes it hard to manage our real games. Could the developers please close or remove these stuck games?]]] Ive been playing your game for a long time, and although it was hard to adjust to the new app when it was first released, every new update has made the UI more comfortable. Now, Im once again spending several hours a week enjoying our favorite game. Huge thanks to the developers for listening to the users and making all these changes. A few small notes about things that might still need some adjustment, if possible: It seems a bit illogical that you can add a player as a friend before the game starts but not after. We dont want to add strangers as friends right away, but if we see during a game that their playing style aligns with ours, Id love to be able to add them as a friend at the end. Ive noticed that the game occasionally freezes. Exiting to the main menu and rejoining the match solves the issue, but it takes time. It seems to be getting better, so we assume youre aware of this bug, but we thought Id mention it just in case. One more thing: very rarely (maybe 23 times out of a hundred games), we accidentally place trains in the wrong spotsnext to the intended oneespecially when Im trying to place a station (Europe map). This doesnt happen often, but now every time we place a station, we feel a bit anxious . Im a young woman without any fine motor skill issues, so we think this might be something to look into also? In any case, thank you for an amazing game, the regular updates, and the festive Christmas interface! It lifts our mood every time we log in. :) Happy holidays and a joyful New Year.
Ticket to Ride is our favorite board game. We love being able to play on the app when we dont have enough people around to play a live game. Our favorite expansion packs are Pennsylvania and the Old West. We would love to see these expansions developed for this app. Keep the expansions coming.
We miss all of our expansions in the old app, but this is a great implementation as well.
Our husband and we bought the full expansions when only the base game was available and we are so glad we did. This game is a blast! Our favorites are the USA versions.
We really love this game but its so frustrating how often it freezes mid-game in online play, locking us out and forcing us to lose stars. Would appreciate if the developers could focus on this issue over adding expansions and new colors. Or at the very least, work out a way to prevent players from losing stars if the game freezes.
We love the game, but we abhor how disincentivizing it is to earn stars. The higher you go the more you lose when you dont come in first yet you arent equally rewarded for winning. Ridiculous.
The game is fun but crashes constantly.
We love this app and love this game, however, the playing online with friends feature seems to not be functioning. Im not sure if its because of the Bubble extension service or the app, but our friend and we are having issues after sending invites to each other.
Have several of the Ticket to Ride Board Games and had all of the original iOS Ticket to Ride countries, then had to switch to a new Ticket to Ride iOS version with a limited number of countries and am still waiting for France and Germany. How much longer do we have to wait.
As a fan of the old game, we had previously submitted a negative review when this game first came out. However, they have made a huge number of improvements that have made this game a lot closer to the original, and much more fun to play. Our only complaint is that the bot players really detract from playing online with actual players. We would much rather wait longer for human opponents to join our games than to have multiple bots ruining a multi-player online game. The bots do not seem to play with any specific strategy and randomly block routes across the board, which isnt fun for anybody. Please create an OPTION to EXCLUDE bot players from open (non-specific invite) games, and we will gladly give this game a 5-star review. Thank you.
Good game overall, but its shocking that there is no way to create a private game. So even for asynchronous games, everyone needs to be on at the same time to join the game, or you end up with randos. Its such basic functionality, theres just no reason it shouldnt be possible.
We are so tired of this app crashing!!! So frustrating.
When you play a game like this you really need to put misbehaved people on a no play list.
A little bummed that when someone leaves a game, it kicks everyone out rather than fill position with a bot. Happens pretty frequently, making our family and we regret buying the expansion pack.
We are a family of five. Ill spring for the $30, but not times 5. Can you confirm if the in app purchases are shareable in a family sharing account.
We only recently became a TTR fan, and this app blew away our expectations. The artwork, the simplicity, the simple way that rules are presented for all of the different expansions we originally just got the base game and thought it was an incredible value for $3. We somewhat tentatively got the full expansion and we dont regret it (well, we guess we do spend a lot of time playing).
We owned the version before this one and bought other maps we no longer have access to in the old game. Its sad that we cant get them back and have to purchase them again. Love this one though.
Good app of a good game! We would do -1 or -2 stars because this is the third time in the past few years Ive had to buy this game app with no credit at all for now previous dead versions, but thats not a fair reflection of this version. This app plays great.
We love this game. We love the sounds inside the game. Its fun and its easy to understand. Youll blast off into fun when you play this. It only costs $2.99. Buy this game.
Great game! Only issue we see constantly is with the game kind of just freezing randomly like itll be our turn and it just wont let us select any cards or really click on anything. We have to go to our phones Home Screen and when we go back the game starts working again, but issue happens again a lot.
What happened with the scoring changes? Now you can get a negative score in second place.
We are DYING for turn notifications. This new version of the app has come such a long way since inception, but the one thing that would make it complete is push notifications. Please and thank you.
