Not done yet, so it may turn out to be too short, but it’s very enjoyable.

Very good .. New and inventive HOs and puzzles. Some puzzles very difficult.. Maybe we did not understand the rules… But enjoyed the scenery, colors, scenes, and a good story and playing.. Cleverly done… Looking for next one! Thanks.

We agree that there were too many cut scenes and dialogue, but the game was fun to play. Nice story line. The puzzles were challenging, but not too easy.

We’re with everyone else on that it was a good game, good scenery, etc. What we did have problems with was on the iPhone plus (and we have good eyesight) it was really hard to see the little drawings of the HOS. We can’t imagine how people with poor eyesore or a smaller phone would be able to see what was on those little pieces of paper. Otherwise it was a nice smooth game.

Eipix isn’t our favorite developer when it comes to visuals/artwork but we found this game absolutely beautiful! Yes, it was a bit dark but went with the story and theme of the game. We found myself many times just sitting and staring at the game for long periods just to admire everything about the scene. No glitches, great new story, definite eye candy and everything we look for in a game. We’re actually shocked at the 4 star rating here as this game is far superior in every way than others by them with 5 star ratings. Don’t miss this one!

Just finished… Beautiful graphics, very good story and games that were both challenging & easy, loved it, well worth purchasing.

We play so many games but this was so well done. The voices and actors were the best. The games were a little different from the norm but lots of fun.

Although it’s two years old, we’ve enjoyed playing this game. Too bad you didn’t credit the violinist who played they Bruch violin concerto in the Emporium scene.

Excellent and very clever game! Loved the way this mystery was split into three separate investigations. Very clever! We even enjoy the credits; very clever. Once again Eipix delivered!

Dear Big Fish~ Please give us more creepy, eerie, hair-raising games like this. We particularly like ones with things that make us shiver or squirm like rodents.

Good game. No funky magical runes or strange "other" worlds. Just a good story, good puzzles and good fun.

Great new series, with a very intriguing storyline. Loved the character voiceovers, location, hidden object scenes which contain morphing objects. Collectibles to find, along with a teleporting map – which is not always available (Keeps those brain cells working!) our only objection was the dark scenes, in which we had a hard time seeing. This however would not have kept us from purchasing or recommending this gem of a game. Great job developers and thank you Big Fish for such great entertainment. KdBoots.

Hols our interest and a variety of hidden object scenes and puzzles.

We really enjoyed this game! We hope they continue this as a series of games. Especially of this quality. We cannot wait to play the next in the Vermillion series.

Beautiful graphics, spell bounding, long-playing, customized settings, many different types of puzzles and HOPs. We didn’t want this game to end!

Our knee-jerk reaction was to give this 3 stars. Some promising puzzles were unplayable, and the latter half of the storyline was a jumbled mess so that the next step was never clear. But, the graphics, voice acting and complex HOPs were first-rate. We also enjoyed the incorporation of elements from Alice in Wonderland and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Thus, we are rounding up our score of 3.5. We may actually play again and focus on getting the many collectibles (including the "souvenirs" available at the very end).

This game is wonderful! Challenging! We love the Victorian theme and story line the characters, graphics. Everything! We rate it four stars because the HO games are too dark. We are seventy years old and our eyes even with our glasses can not see the objects and particularly the drawings of the objects we are supposed to find. How light a game can be may be a good option choice in the "Options" category. A good many older people play these games so provide for them in your presentations.

The quality of this game is impressive. The cut scenes are enjoyable (I didn’t skip them for once). The objective was interesting. We can say enough good things. The only reason we gave it 4 stars was because we could not skip some of the puzzles. We always like to have that option. We didn’t even mind paying the full price. We can’t wait till part 2 comes out!

This was an amazing game, and the start of a new series. The storyline mixed fact with fictional characters, and even fairytale folk. Objectives were regularly updated but we would have liked a journal to understand all the nuances in the game. The game was a decent length and had a bonus adventure. You could customize settings. Loading was instantaneous between locations and there was a marked teleport map (if so chosen) to transport you immediately between locations. At each location you must find a hidden symbol, which we believe was a red chess queen. Morphing objects were confined to the HO scenes. Inventory was labeled and interactive and there were complex items to assemble. The graphics were not the greatest, but some were darkly exquisite, such as the Emporium and the Alice in Wonderland garden. The HO puzzles had some variation, but there was no alternative to them. The puzzles/games were intriguing. There were many different and varied types, including rotational stuff, games of skill/dexterity, building equipment, disabling a bomb, and quite a few with codes. In short, there was something to please everyone. There were also some interesting surprises along the way, but we won’t spoil them for you. This game was fun, challenging and held our interest. We wish that we could have blown up the rats with dynamite instead of using a cat to scare them away! Our true rating is 4.5 stars. We deducted the half star due to lack of a cohesive journal and also due to the clarity of the graphics. Still it was an incredible game and well worth playing. Lynxie sends to the DTE! We won’t play the next one, after the heads-up from Izzyoc and KimTwilight. Rats are one thing, but after Phantasmat, we are not subjecting myself to another formulaic gory murder-themed game.

What a surprise to finally play the first game of a series, which was never released before on iPad. The context comprises a dark supernatural fantasy, which takes place in London during the 19th century when you inherit your uncle’s fortune, along with the responsibility of protecting the city from a sinister monster. The scenery is embellished with a copious amount of Victorian-era furnishings and decor, such as the old mansions with winding, carpeted staircases and arched bookshelves built into the walls; rows of attached townhouses illuminated by the gas-lit street lamps; and the industrialized brick factories, which hide the secretive underground world of corruption. The characters are dressed in eccentric fashion–true to Victorian vintage, with a touch of steampunk–with the related clothing and accessories, such as the following: women’s corsets over bustle skirts and lace blouses; high lace-up boots; top hats, which represent the social status of a gentleman; gaudy embroideries; fitted jackets with buckles; and scholarly spectacles. The graphics are mediocre, as usual, in the crispness and clarity of details. The murky color scheme creates an unrelenting trepidation throughout the fog-enveloped cobblestone streets as you explore London’s slums during the dusk hours. You can customize your settings; options are sufficient. The inventory is labeled and interactive; items require assembly. In custom mode, the teleport map permits brisk transport to labeled locations and indicates available actions. The visionary ideas and the innovative mechanics, as demonstrated through the HOSs, are a clear indication of why this developer is amongst our favorite in this craftsmanship; for example, we’re referring to the scene in the Pesticide Factory where you turn a spinning cabinet around to activate differentiated formats. The clever themes complement the storyline in such a novel approach that we feel drawn into the storyline. The puzzles are varied and well-suited to the concept of the story. One type is to rotate various body parts to assemble a complete profile of the attacker from the alley. Others are of the "moving one object affects another" format. The collectibles are significantly camouflaged within the inky background, rendering them a challenge to find. In summary, we think that this is a well-rounded game composed of the main requirements we adore, including enough creativity and diversity to satisfy anyone’s craving. We do wish that a journal was incorporated, but it certainly is a trivial quibble. We did not experience any glitches–something not surprising about Eipix. We have greatly enjoyed the last three consecutive games, and we hope this uplifting trend continues. A solid 4 stars from us!

We like this game (enough to have played it several times) and highly recommend it. In addition to the points made by others we think the music and sound effects are great. Our only reason for not giving it a five is the hidden object scenes sometimes had small cards as clues and they were very difficult to see well.

We really enjoyed this. It’s obviously an Eipix game, but has a different feel to it. The story is a mess, and they’ve already name checked so much of late Victoriana we don’t know where they go from here, but this one was a lot of fun.

We love the watch series but they don’t take the best to mobile screens needs some tweaking like zooming in and finding an object doesn’t automatically zoom you out.

Graphics are great, love the story line but theres not a lot to do. If we want to watch a movie Id do it on our tv.

This game was rather difficult to play because the HOPs had a lot of clues which we could not see clearly enough to play. Skip button used too often because of illegibility issues! The characters were familiar but not well-presented; the game assumes you know all their stories. We didn’t care for the voice actors, speaking ponderously in an unnatural accent is boring, not menacing. Too bad, a lot of good characters were wasted. Why use hideously wrong British accents if the actors can’t do them well?

From what we can see it’s pretty. But it is really dark. Have to tap items two or three times to get them to work. Haven’t bought it because we’ve been burned before. Will wait for reviews from people you have played whole game.

Graphics were superb, and it tried to be clever…a bit too clever, we thought. This led to some pretty silly puzzle interactions, even for this genre.

This game has some very interesting puzzles which are new and challenging. We liked that. We only played the free selection but we were impressed by it. We DIDN’T like all the cutscenes, though. Too much talk. And we didn’t have any map in the free section. Will it provide one later? If you skip a game, it will show you the steps you needed to take to complete the puzzle. We like that, too. It doesn’t just show you the completed puzzle, like some games do. We were impressed, though not impressed enough to spend $6.99 on it. It seems we missed the introductory price. Update: we started to play it, again, and hated it! It was WAY too dark to see anything. The first HO scene we completed accidentally when using the pinch screen to make it easier to identify things. We kept hitting items we didnt even see! We got to the house, opened the wall and decided to forget buying this one. Why they decided to make things so dark is beyond us. And, we cant believe we liked this the first time through!

Very dark and dreary. You get kind of depressed because of that and it stops being fun to play.

The game admittedly is five years old but is still for sale on the Big Fish site and shouldn’t be. It was fine until we got to Chapter 5. Pretty sad Guide for this game after that. At least two parts of the actual game do not appear in the Guide at all, so at one point if you can’t solve the puzzles presented, tough luck. You’re stranded with no way out of that section of the game. We resent paying for a Collectors Edition game that we can’t even play to the end, despite multiple attempts to troubleshoot. You’d think this would have been corrected sometime in the last five years, but you would be wrong. Don’t waste your money (at least on the iPad version).

Again it is not 65% off because other games that are 55% off are the same price!
