Its about time for a game to makes sense.

We got to the point where you need to use a pointer on the belt of the armor. Since we already attached it to the harpoon it wont let us use the pointer and we cant go any further in the game! This was a problem over a year ago and, silly us, we thought they fixed It! Tried the suggestions but it looks like Ill have to start the game all over again! Frustrating.

Love the art/graphics style and the fact that you are interacting with the characters, makes the game seem more realistic rather than just going around and picking up stuff by yourself. For the player who had trouble with the fight scene: for each bad guy, the foot and hand icons will light up in a certain sequence (I think there were four in each sequence, same icon may be lit more than once), you wait until the sequence is done for that particular bad guy and then you select the same icons in the same order, that particular bad guy will be disposed of, then it will go to the next bad guy, a new sequence will be shown, you copy, and so on.

Whats not to love. Amazing graphics. Well written storyline with addicting thrills and suspense. Challenging puzzles. We will look forward to playing again.

Ok, 1) we dont write reviews. And 2) Im pretty picky about our adventure puzzle/escape style games because the first puzzle game we played on the App Store that we paid for was The Room, and all of their subsequent sequels. So we are accustomed to pleasingly challenging, well thought out, well designed and relatively long-ish games. That being said… This game EXCEEDED our expectations! We thought we had reached the end 3 times before it actually ended, and even then theres a short bonus chapter to complete! We thought we had played all of the decent to excellent adventure puzzle games out there but this game proved us wrong! The puzzles are a mix of easy to challenging without being ridiculous, and the customizable difficulty mode is excellent for people who want to make the game as easy, difficult or somewhere in between. Graphics are good, story is good, but the real shining glory here is the length. We usually get through one of these style games in maybe 2 days of intermittent playing. But this one was at least 3 days of regular multiple hour playing sessions. If you get this game, which we hope you do, we hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Im off to get the other Vermillion Watch game right now so we can continue to have our adventure puzzle game addiction satiated.

Devs: Please update this and the apparent gamebreaking glitch pointed out in other reviews(dinosaur button) and Ill totally purchase. Seems fun. Edit- redos load fixed audio but the apparent glitch so you cant move forward is no bueno :/

Not good. Lots of things are too small. Some of the scenes where you have to find hidden objects are too dark and dim to see objects. Theres too much automated motion to drag you around the game. We’ve never seen a HOP game that moves your player so much. Youre not allowed to move yourself nearly enough.

We havent had any technical problems, so we guess Im lucky. The mini games are varied, and the HOPs really nice. The morphing objects are particularly hard. But there really are a lot of WOE moments ( What On Earth ) trying to figure out what youre supposed to do next. The first in the series was like that too, so if you played that one be warned youre going to get more of the same. The inclusion of the Oz characters is gratuitous. They contributed nothing, and only Lion actually had a personality like his namesake. And what is Ahab doing hanging out with them. But our particular problem with the game is the bonus chapter. Practically all of it is a minimally redressed old game. We loved that game and if the devs can still use so much of it they should have fixed the old game so we could still play it. Really ticked .

What we admire in general about the Vermillion Watch series is that it is a stand alone in the hidden-object-adventure genre, attributing this perception towards the aesthetically pleasing artistic design and the unique conceptual storytelling, incorporating diverse literary figures into each game. The plot takes place during the industrialized Victorian era, and the settings exhibit an authentic representation of that time period. The dialogue is well-written and avoids moments of dullness. However, in our opinion, the twist of introducing altered characters from "Wizard of Oz" into the storyline feels out-of-place actually quite contrived. The beloved characters from one of our favorite childhood movies are striped of their trademark personas that we hold so dear to our heart and replaced by a bunch of Yanks from the US, including Wild-West cowgirl Dorothy, with her gun in tote (no clicking of her red heels here, folks) a nonsensical contrast to the reserved formality of the Victorian period. There is nothing "Wizard of Oz" about them save for the shoddy metallic outfit protecting the "Tin Man" so what is the point? We’re surprised the Wicked Witch of the West didn’t fly in on a hot-air balloon to lend an "evil" hand. Having said that, there are other aspects of the storyline that we do find compelling, such as the focus on Egyptian artifacts in Europe during the 19th century. The refreshing changes in scenery are a highlight, especially the exploration of the zoo. Most of the characters’ are stylized in vintage-like Victorian fashion. For example, relative attire includes: top hats; scholarly spectacles, attached to jackets by chains; trench coats; scarves; long, flowing dresses; regal jacket bodices; and boots. You can customize your settings. The inventory is labeled and interactive; items require assembly. In custom mode, the teleport map facilitates brisk travel to labeled locations and indicates available actions. Transition between scenes is smooth and quick. Gameplay is not pioneering, but it is still executed with creative approaches. The multi-layered HOSs are thematically rendered to suit the storyline using items related to the time period. The puzzles are entertaining, and several offer a decent level of challenge. We liked the one in which you assemble the accessories that will tweak your appearance to resemble Mr. Marlow. The collectibles can be well camouflaged into the environment; look within the HOSs as well. There are some hiccups that devalue this game’s worth. Many of the scenes are dimly lit, hence the dark coloration, which makes it difficult to locate items. Furthermore, this developer needs to rectify the current-trending glitch regarding inventory usage, which has now become a pervasive hindrance throughout their recent games. We are consistently experiencing difficulty while acquiring and placing items within the scenes. All-in-all, we recommend playing the free trial. Our true rating is 3.5 stars to account for the previously-mentioned quibbles, including the off-kilter "Wizard of Oz" theme. Our main problem with this particular game is that there are just too many characters whose purposes are meaningless and fail to enhance the storyline, thus resulting in a frequent disjointed feeling. Therefore, our final rating is lowered to 3 stars.

Too many times the Guide is needed. We thought that we could choose between the three locations, but we should have first gone to the ship.

Note to KimTwilight: we know we will play the MadHead game next so we were thrilled to know we at least have an in-game teleport map, and that you liked this game. Thanks for the heads-up! We were so frustrated by this game. Just know that if you play the locations out of sequence there is a fatal flaw and you cannot finish the main game. Trust us, we learned the hard way. We are not even bothering to go over features; EIPIX gameplay is the same and we have had many of their games over the last few weeks! This storyline was so convoluted and ridiculous; we were annoyed that the developers mixed an entire bunch of characters together from classical fiction. The graphics were incredibly dark in certain locations, so we basically decided not to bother finding the collectible stars. In addition, the quality assurance was sorely lacking, and due to this issue we had to skip certain mini-games/puzzles. The HO scenes were varied but there was no alternative puzzle, and we found several of them too dark to bother with morphing objects. Its unfortunate that this game had so many technical issues because the actual gameplay was interesting and unusual at times. The game was actually lengthy including the bonus adventure. We believe that our final rating will stand at 3 stars! BigFish, you need to take EIPIX to task for such terrible quality assurance (touch screen sensitivity issues and difficulty when trying to apply inventory items). On the plus side, tomorrow night we are getting a new tablet, and we sure wont miss this 30 foot extension cord! Happy gaming to all!

Gotta love a lady Peacock Feather adorned fedora with a weapon. Off to a Great start. Update forthcoming. Miss LC in S.F.

This game is Not challenging, just inscrutable. Its really Frustrating us!

Okay so it is an interesting addition to the Vermillion Watch series, but there are glitches in it that stop progress in the game, we have already tried a new profile, deleting and reinstalling the app and not skipped any of the cutscenes however, it gets stuck on either chapter 2 or 3 so please update it.

The premise of the Vermillion Watch games is everything we love in this kind of game. Victorian, steampunky, great artwork. The game is a hot mess and a waste of money. It literally makes no sense. We were so excited to play it and so disappointed.

It has taken us hours to try to complete the museum section because 1) the map and hint dont actually tell you where you have tasks, 2) there were so many bugs we had to quit and reopen the game to get the next piece for gameplay, and 3) now we cant complete the section anyway because hitting the button in the Earth room (which we assume will swing the dinosaur head into your foe) doesnt do anything, and its one of the last steps before completing this section. So we cannot advance. There were many other bugs too. And when you hit the button to show you areas of interest and possible directions, it doesnt show you everything in a room.

The game completely frozen and cant move forward. Need to do better in guidance for fixing such an issue. Dont bother wasting money.

Absolutely frustrating and ridiculous!! We cant get it work and have tried everything imaginable. Hint for this doesnt work either. Please fix this for us so we can play the game or Ill never buy an Eipix game again.

The bug is still there when trying to complete the museum section involving the dinosaur head.

It was a decent game. Towards the end there is a button to push in the dinosaur cave. We press it and it does nothing. Since we paid for the game we feel obligated to start from the beginning ugh… So close the end. We hope it doesnt glitch second time. Frustrating…

This game had a lot of potential. We really like the series and world theyve created. We thought bringing in the Wizard of Oz characters was hokey. We were enjoying the game, albeit frustrated with the map and having to use the hint button more often than we liked. Until we reached the bug that halted our game play: the dinosaur and red button. We attached the oxygen tank, press the red button and nothing happens. No amount of app closing, iPad restarting, hint pressing, or finger tapping has helped. The game is broken and we cant move on. Which is complete BS and needs to be fixed. Dont buy until its updated!

At this point Im done with anything Big Fish releases. So many bugs its nearly unplayable. Unfortunately this is far from the first game with these problems. Eipix has especially gone downhill in the last few years. Requesting a refund is a just a loop of frustration. At this point Im uninstalling everything big fish. Looks like g5 will get some extra business from us.

Inferior Graphics, no rhyme or reason to any of their scenes, Just an irritating sure to complete.

It’s like they use the same template over and over again with the same elitist storylines. The good guys are ALWAYS the elites, the wealthy and the royalty. The bad guys are ALWAYS the meanie peasants who try to steal from the rich elites. And we, as the players, role-play a character where we put ourselves in danger… Even killing others.. In order to save the elites and their million-dollar possessions And this game is the same … Where "Lord Kingsbury" purchases ancient artifacts for his personal collection displayed in his mansion. And those meanie peasants will stop at nothing to steal HIS priceless Egyptian statue. Typical propaganda for the masses. This "elites vs peasants" theme is in at least 95% of the games we’ve played … And we’ve played hundreds over the past decade. It’s not surprising tho… In real life, there is a "elites vs peasants" hierarchy everywhere in the world. As far as this game… The trial was just boring. The player’s hand is held the entire time so that you are forced into a linear "do A-then-B-then-C" structured game. And there wasn’t much to do. Even the HOGs were boring… Had almost no interactive mini-actions within the HOG. And there was no option to switch to "connect-3" or "bubble-shoot" game. It’s like these BF games have become interactive booklets, where the player taps the screen every so often to advance the storyline. The developers pump out Hidden Object games that use a linear storyline to simply thread the HOGs together. There are other details in the game that are worthy of criticism. But not as important as the template of propaganda and mindless story-tapping described in this review.

We usually like the Vermillion Watch games but this one has bugs to the point now that we cant get past one part because it wont work like its suppose to. We even looked on the guide just to make sure Im not an idiot and just missed something. The hint button is glitchy at times too. There was a spot where we would hit the hint because the game was being confusing as to where we needed to be and the hint would tell us to go back a room and when we hit it again it would tell us to go back to the room we were just at, super annoying but we figured that one out on our own and moved on but being stuck at the room where we need to do the oxygen tank and push a button just to have the button do nothing is beyond annoying. Apparently everyone else is having this same issue so why wont you fix this guys?! The story is meh and the game play is frustrating.

We were enjoying this game UNTIL we could not complete it since, we too am experiencing the museum room Dino head/button flaw which occurs near the end of the main game. This issue has been noted by many others as well in the reviews. It needs to be fixed ASAP. We can’t finish the game, or access the bonus game and additional features, until this major bug is fixed. As noted by the others, no amount of button pushing or clicking will move the Dino head to knock the bad guy into the water (as it appears it was supposed to do based on online guides, video walkthroughs, etc. We have consulted in our many attempts to solve this problem). Please fix this ASAP. It is VERY frustrating to have paid for this game yet be unable to continue due to this bug. We will update our review and star rating once this issue has been resolved. However, as of right now, this game deserves zero stars and we will be asking for a refund if it does not get fixed soon. Our recommendation is to avoid purchasing until this issue is resolved.

Unintuitive puzzles. Makes you feel stupid but there are literally no indications of what is needed to solve many of the puzzles. Wish we could ask for a refund. Never played a worse HOG ever.

This is a nice long game. The puzzles were just too confusing and therefore we skipped many. We didnt find the instructions very clear.

How are you supposed to get past this…. No directions and no skip? Anyone?

We have played HUNDREDS of dollars worth of these games and this is the very first we deleted because it SUCKED! Challenges without instructions, inescapable loops; looking at Game Forum, we are far from alone in our frustration! So very disappointed in the usually wonderful game-makers!

We were pretty much enjoying the game until we got to the end of the museum part and got stuck in the Earth room. No amount of pushing the button made the Dino head move. Ok, so we close out , start over and save museum till last !! Same thing. Can’t finish game and feel like we’ve been ripped off. We usually really like the vermillion watch games but doubt we will buy another.

Got to chapter 2 and the fight scene and nothing. Could not skip, forums were no help hint was useless just stuck. Puzzle was random? Are you kidding? How am we supposed to advance? Want our money back.

Paid for it, now can not get past a silly fight scene with Dorothy in a coach. It just goes on and on and on. We follow the hints but it never ends. Very frustrating, no Skip. Frustrating waste.

Please fix. Button for the dinosaur head does nothing which prevents the game from continuing.

Well, after three years of people complaining about a glitch in the Earth Room with the Dino mechanism the developers STILL havent rectified the situation and since you cannot proceed with the rest of the game, we just threw money out the window. We mean in three years you couldnt fix this glitch? This shows nothing but laziness and no pride in your work. This will be the last game we purchase from this developer.

Game glitches and wont let you continue.

We actually PAID for it and we barely got an hours worth of play when it froze up.
