A Glimpse into WARS ACROSS THE WORLD

WAW is a unique strategy turn-based game concept, on a boardgame spirit, which aims at simulating in one single system ALL conflicts throughout the world (and beyond) from Prehistoric times to nowadays, from grand massive wars to asymmetrical conflicts.

The Main Game Features includes:

  • Game is turn-based, using the I GO U GO system, each player taking one side (sides involve sometimes more than one nation).
  • The map is divided into numerous regions, with various terrains and sometimes structures (ports, fortresses, airports …), and potentially sources of income when necessary.
  • When maintenance and purchase of forces is needed, or to acquire new event cards, a simple income system is activated.
  • Combat units may be from the land, naval or air domains. You will find different types, such as infantry, cavalry, artillery, guerrillas, submarines, flat tops, fighters, elephants, anti-aircraft batteries, etc … All of which can be combined into different stacks for easy handling.
  • Leaders are crucial in the game, as they have three main usages: first they give bonus to the base combat values of their stacks, second their morale values are use to check victory or defeat levels, and lastly they are necessary to launch attacks on the enemy.
  • Two opposing stacks in the same region generate a battle, which is resolved in a semi-tactical way in two successive rounds. The game automatically calculates the various bonus and penalties of sides, their respective morale levels, allows for event cards play, and they each combat unit of each side shoots simultaneously (in most cases) at the enemy. Losses are taken in terms of hits and panics. The moral level of the initial army affected by the losses and panics suffered, which in turn may lead to rout, pursuit and breakthroughs.
  • Multiple Events Cards packs are granted to each side, that they will use to influence all aspects of the game, such as alliances, income, movement, weather, leadership, number and quality of troops and finally many tactical aspects for the battles. This ensures both a real uncertainty in the game and a great replayability potential.

The application contains the scenario Normandy 1944. Several other scenarios are purchasable in content inApp, including: Hamilkar 264 (First Punic War), Hastings 1066 (Conquest of England), Saratoga 1777 (American War of Independence), Waterloo 1815 (Napoleonic wars), Bull Run 1861 and Missouri 1861 (Civil War), Tannenberg 1914 (World War I), Malaya 1941 (WW2 Malaysian campaign), Bulge 1944 (WW2 Battle of the Bulge), Berlin 1945 (End of World War II) ) and Six Days 1967 (Six Day War).

Other scenarios will be added regularly.

Playability is great. Historical feel is very good.

When can we expect the Easter Rising to be available for purchase?

Really fun game actually, really wish they would fix the Switzerland scenario. Add some like the Franco-Prussian War, maybe the Sino-Japanese wars scenarios, lots of options for them to continue adding.

As a history buff, this game is super accurate in its historical events. And it is fun to play and watch as your army crushes the opponents into the dust. We wish some of the battles would be free because some people Dont have the time or money to spend a dollar on one battle and never play it. One dollar is not a lot but all the battles, geez. But we love would recommend to anyone looking to sharpen your mind and even learn strategies. WARNING, easy to get addicted to :)edit:please add the Vietnam war, kursk, and more end of ww2 when the Soviet Union would launch offensives and also add ww1 battles and more American civil war battles, and maybe sea battles?

Reminds us of the old card stock strategy board games. Nice selection in scenarios through time. Look forward to expansions and hopefully a Vietnam era!

You guys have done an amazing job with the game, but we would like to see more WWI like the Somme or Verdun, maybe even a battle for France or Norway.

We are compelled to write a review for the first time because this is the game we’ve been waiting for. We love strategy games and there are several good ones in the App Store, but for us personally this one is it. Mainly because of the nostalgic feeling it has to it. It reminds us of the classic table top strategy games that our friends and we used to play as teenagers. We have purchased close to a third of the maps (scenarios) that are available and have enjoyed very much the ones that we’ve played so far. We will be editing this review with a fifth star if more maps/battles are added in future updates. Speaking of whichsuggestionsGettysburg, Isandhlwana, and Stalingrad would be a few awesome battles to recreate. Or maybe a mid 80s NATO vs. Warsaw Pact Scenario like the movie Red Dawn. That would be so cool. Any way keep up the good work!

Its a really good game but srsly add some more well known battles and some naval ones too like midway Solomon Islands kinda of things.

Great game. But it would be 100x better if there were MORE FREE maps that were larger.

Overall, WaW is a really good game. The strategy elements and replayability is top-class and the map design is usually pretty good. Speaking of map design, the Golan theater in Kippur 1973 is a massive white-and grey brick with no terrain or textures. Additionally, the RNG, while a nice feature, is often a bit out of control, sometimes rendering quality advantages such as those in Rhodesia 1972 and Six Days 1967 redundant due to the power of the games RNG mechanics.

Lets start with we love this game but we would love to see an option to have infinite turns. We always feel as if we are up against the clock especially in Berlin. For example the Germans can win every time if they simply pull back and defend Berlin the city until time expires. Also in many of the civil war scenarios it can be difficult to build an army especially as the confederacy. So we feel as if a option to enable an infinite amount of turns would make the game a thousand times better because then the Germans could not just fall back to Berlin and defend until the time expires and the confederacy could build up an army. Also for example in the battle of the bulge scenario the allies would be able to counter attack and push the Germans back instead of how it turns out where the Germans push them back almost to the edge and then they attack and capture a few towns then time expires. Please please add it as a option where you can enable it.

Its a really good game but you have to pay to play anything other then one map.

We’ve run into an issue in the Normandy game. When the German has the Certainty on the New Front card in play it will display a unit to bring back to full strength but you cant select any and cant advance the game, you are simply stuck and can only quit the game. A shame really. Not sure what combination is causing the issue.

This is a great concept for a game, and we would love to see it at full potential. Currently, however, it is near unplayable for a couple of reasons. There are a lot of bugs Im encountering, most of which require us restarting the game. Also, the tutorial covers very little of the actual gameplay, so the game is basically self-taught, which is annoying considering how complicated the strategy is, and how much you have to think about. We would be much happier to try to learn this game if there werent so many bugs.

You only get two maps for free, those being Operation Overlord and the fictional battle for Innsmouth, one of which you must download. Normandy isnt even that realistic, considering the beaches all have only 1 unit and a couple bunkers to bust. Mediocre gameplay, historic inaccuracies, and pay to play make this an all an all bad game. Do not recommend.

This is a fun set of games. We have not played all of the scenarios, but the few we have played have been quite enjoyable. The system is simple enough to pick up quickly and has some intricacies to master.

An excellent platform for a variety of ages. Game delivers a simple yet satisfying campaign system with extra nuance from cards and period flavor. A bargain for less than a cup of cheap coffee… Most impressive.

Scenarios do not end when criteria for win are acheived.

Good game but make the tutorial a little less complicated. Also since you have a Korea map make a Vietnam !

Wiped out our purchases and wont restore… Avoid.

We were very disappointed in the game. Online instructions and drawing a card was confusing. After so many attempts we gave up.

Just recently downloaded and purchased three additional campaigns. Went to open the app today to play for the first time and it immediately closes.

Very weak AI. Beat the expert level in each of our first 3 games. Won Hamilkar on turn 2 as Carthage against expert Rome and Normandy as both German and Allied. Cant wait for online play against a human opponent.

Excellent game so far. Better tutorial needed as the game has a lot more depth than you would think for an iPad game. Malaya 1941 and Normandy are a lot of fun. If they can keep the scenarios going they will get a lot of our money.

One other thing Id like to say to prospective buyers who may balk at the additional IAP / DLCs. A number of these battles are just .99 cents which is less than a song on iTunes. The overall quality is very high between the atmosphere, the maps, historical backgrounds etc these are good little historical games that are ideal for IOS. With Slitherine totally out of the IOS market now real historical IOS gamers should get behind this game system and ensure its success. Either that – or be prepared to deal with non-sense fermium pseudo-strategy games where wars are waged by purchasing gems from scantily clad cartoon women. Wargamers unite ! – And let this emerging system flourish on this platform. Edit Jan 16 2019 : Thanks for the bug fix / enhancements patch. Now bring some more of that cool DLC and Russian Battles over to IOS ! Bring Russian Battles to IOS as well and we’ll buy that too. – You guys should get Pocket Tactics and Touch Arcade to review this game. It needs and deserves more attention and sales !

This could be a great game platform. Visually it looks great. We got the Waterloo, Bull Run, and Hastings scenarios. In Waterloo, neither Wellington or Blucher would come out to fight Napoleon. Maybe we need to try to increase the AI level. Also, we captured Brussels, in supply, but no automatic victory. In Hastings the game froze several times in turn 14 when our Norman army was a territory away from taking on the Vikings. Had to go back and reload the game several times until it would not freeze up. Bull Run seems to be ok, so far. It is the little things and bugs that have us worried about this app. Maybe the PC version works better. We hope they keep working on this. Would love to change our rating to 5 stars.

Nothing says fun and realism like watching allied aircraft in stacks of 5 come in and obliterate all our tanks and infantry with impunity turn after turn… Would love our money back. Way too much gamey tactics and rng luck, at least in the Normandy scenario.

One of the best war games on iPad. Give it a try.

You are basically paying 2$ for a tutorial and ONE other map unless you are planning on spending at least 10$ more to give you more maps and scenarios we recommend you do not buy it.

Honestly, this should be free. We didnt spend $2 for a tutorial – which isnt even interactive – and one mission. Save your money.
