This game has to be perfect,the classic wonder boy dragons trap is one of the best games of all time and to have on our iPad is unbelievable. ADVICE : if you want to have a good experience playing this amazing game we recommend using a ps4 or xbox controller believe us youll love it.
We played this with an Xbox controller, so we cant comment on controls. We wish more games of our childhood were redone with cartoon visuals. 8-bit was fine back in the day, but a cartoon format works so much better. We love how you can hit a button to go in to retro mode and sync in to some nostalgia. This is the right way to bring back old games!
This was our favorite game when we were like 12. We downloaded it and am blown away by the quality….. It actually is better than we remember the original – what a great job they have done…. What a surprise…. This game was and is excellent – cool story…. Hopefully they are working on Wonderboy in Monsterland!
This is a great game that we played on our Apple TV. It works flawlessly with a PS4 controller. The graphics are lovely, and the game is actually quite long and engaging. We would like to see more classic games brought back with modern graphics and sound as the developers did with this game that originally appeared on the Sega master system. Please remake some more classics!
Great game. Takes us back to the old day especially with the 8bit(I think) mode lol. Keeping it classic while literally keeping it classic!! Great Job guys. Now make The old Goonies 2(but is really goonies one and there isnt even a goonies 2 movie) game!!
Game is awesome, we never played the original and have no nostalgia or love for the series. However this is a fun remake and its awesome that we can switch to the original graphics and sound on the fly. Our main and only gripe is that we cant play it with our MFI Razer Kishi. Please add support for other popular controllers. Frankly since its an MFI controller Im surprised that it doesnt already work. Apparently DS4 and xbox controllers are all that work. Backbone doesnt seem to work either.
This is a beautiful and fun game. We think it is great and we love they fact it is supported for all our devices. We just wish it had iCloud save capability so we can pick up where we left off on any of our devices.
The game play is fun but when we advance far, but then we die, we have to begin way too far back and have to start all over. More saving places please.
We love what the team did with Wonder Boy: The Dragons Curse! Graphics and art style are perfect. However, we assumed the iOS version supported MFI controllers. It looks like it only supports DS4 and Xbox controllers. Its a shame that MFI controllers are incompatible. We tried using the Backbone One and it isnt working. Can MFI controllers be added as a feature?
Freezing on Apple TV all of the sudden. Tried lots of things. No dice so far!
Supports controllers, but only the PS4/Xbox ones. Very annoying. Would not have bought it if we knew, but its misleadingly labeled online.
Says it supports iOS controllers but our MFI official Nimbus+ wont work with it. Huh? So we havent got to play it to test it out. We bought it with the intention of playing with the controller and Im sure not going to use a on-screen controller.
Why doesnt this game support controllers? Backbone controller doesnt work on it and its listed to have controller support. Awful.
The best thing about this game is its advertisement, the controls are horrendous. Save your money and dont buy this below average joke of a game.
Okay so first off before they even added the update to give Xbox One and PS4 controller support, our Xbox controller was already working with it! We havent tried it since the update, so they may have added some refinements but we thought that was cool. We definitely recommend playing this game with a controller so you can get the most out of your display. As far as the game itself, we have to say that we had never played the original game or any other WonderBoy/MonsterBoy game. So we didnt know what we were getting into but the game looked promising so we bought it. We have been really enjoying this game! Its basically a side scrolling RPG with some plat forming. So yes, good game. Even better with a controller! The only thing we think that could use some improvement is the help menu. Its just a bunch of pictures with button mapping.
Having tons of fun playing this game. Awesome remake of a classic. One complaint we do have is that when we click on the top right of the screen to change items it will switch to retro mode and then we have to pause it to switch back kinda tedious.
Wonder Boy 3 was a classic platformer for the sega master system. A new team has lovingly updated it for iOS with lush, hand-drawn graphics and an excellent orchestral soundtrack. The controls arent as precise as Id like, but they wont hold you back from enjoying this game. Bravo!
We never heard of the Wonder Boy game series until now. The new art style is what first drew our attention. After getting use to the somewhat old school game mechanics, we quickly fell in love with this game. We love the option of being various creatures with slightly different playing styles. We almost competed everything in the game but unfortunately now it keeps crashing. Hopefully a new UPDATE will fix the issues.
Thank you for letting us re-live our childhood. We used to play this on the Sega Game Gear. Not only has the game been released with modern graphics and sound, but with a simple swipe we can switch to 8 bit mode! There is also an extensive gallery of game art and development videos. Easily worth the price.
Loved this game as a kid, love it now. Beaten it now on normal and Hard mode. With all the rotten games on the App Store with high ratings a rating below 4.5 doesnt give this game justice.
We really do like the game, its great! But it seems to be stuck in French or something. We’ve noticed some other people having the same issue, any way to fix it? Great customer service! Hopefully the problem will get fixed in new update! Thanks a bunch, 5 stars!
El juego esta bueno, no us gusta mucho lamecnica del controles pero se puede bregar con eso. El juego llega el momento que frisa y deja funcionar, no e podido continuar por ese problema.
So this game is pretty fun so far, but there is literally no sound coming from the game at all. Has anyone else had this issue?
We just bought the game and it was automatically set to Japanese Im confused cause we saw it on YouTube as English and we were wondering if theres a way to change the language.
At different points in the game it freezes and then continues to freeze at Game Center login! Only option is to uninstall and reinstall losing all progress. Great game cant wait to actually play it! Responding to the developer response…. This has been an unknown issue for months if you look at all the reviews before ours that have the same issue. Thankfully the issue has become slightly less frequent and we were able to complete the game which is actually pretty great so Ill bump up to 3 stars, but still has some bugs to work out.
Have always loved this game, so we jumped on it when we spotted it on IOS. Problem is that it will not load on iOS on our Phone without freezing, and on iPad it runs super slow and laggy… Fix maybe, and Ill rate 5 for sure!
This game is clearly fun, he level design is good and you feel the old-game nostalgia when playing. But… The format on iPhone is just awful. NOTHING justify this format. The game do not use any smartphone features in particular. Worse, the controls are horrendous since you alternate between plate-form puzzles and monsters fights. The game itself isnt hard, but you keep on dying because the controls make everything harder. We do not mind hard game when the level design is thought this way (ex: Hollow Night). However here we feel like its not the developers intentions, it just feel like a lazy attempt to remaster an old good game on iOS to make some $$$ without even wondering if this format is even appropriate for the gameplay. Well, its not, its just incredibly frustrating. If youre looking for some challenge, go ahead, but be aware it might not be the kind of challenge you are looking for.
This game would be so much better if it had cloud saves.
Cant even pass the beginning area without losing the game. The controls are awfully difficult! Hard to move and jump and attack. Sometimes your character gets stuck on the monster so its instant game over. Complete waste of time and money!
Update 12/2/19 – Just tried again to play this game, but nope, buttons are still horribly placed and impossible to see the screen. What a waste of a great game. Its not even playable. Seriously, how am we supposed to see what Im doing when our thumbs are blocking the screen? Has this really not happened to anyone else? Its cool that you can adjust the button size and fading, but how about a relocation drag and drop option. Personally, Id place all the buttons as far away from the screen as possible. Motion button, bottom left corner, 3 other buttons stacked above each other farthest right side. We used to LOVE this game, its truly one of the best, but theres no way we can play this as it stands. Its impossible, or incredibly frustrating. 1 star for now, Im not gonna play it until we can play it.

First and foremost the art/animation for this game is gorgeous. And the programming to make it all flow so good must be top notch! Glad to have this in our digital collection! Plus how you can swap back and forth from retro to modern is awesome! Worth the buy for sure, thanks for an awesome game!

This game is amazing and a wonderful remake! This game has been a favorite of ours since we were a child. 30 years later its amazing to go through again. So happy to have this title back and better than ever!!!
We’ve only played a few minutes of it so far, but the port seems absolutely fantastic! The on screen controls are a little bit difficult, but that is to be expected considering we are playing on pieces of glass. However, we cant wait to get home and test it out with our MFI controller.
Its beautiful but also can switch to original graphics! We like how you can re size the pads to exactly what you want… However we still havent found what works for us yet. Its hard as hell and we only just started and got to the canyon. Geez. Would be better if we had a bigger screen probably.
Amazing game, we grew up playing this game. Love it then, love it now!
This is the really first game we played when we were a kid! On a Sega Master System console that our mom rent! For us in a video rental shop and we were lucky that she rent this game for us with the console. Yep back in the days consoles like this was expensive, at least for our mom. We love to have this game in our pocket now and the remake and music is so well done, we own this game on Nintendo and Mac as well. It is of course not as simple to play it on iPhone, but we are sure developers can figure out better way to control the characters, it is pretty hard to play the game but this is just first release and we will probably get update soon. Thank you Lizardcube, Dotemu and Playdigious to make this happen. 9/10 stars from me.
So this game is great. A ton of fun. However, the lazy attempt of iPhone X screen is hideous. We have real estate to use on the side of the screens except they use it as filler; a backdrop of sorts. On a Xs max not so bad. But on a x the screen is too small.
Pretty fun game, we like how we can resize the buttons to make it how we want them, great gameplay, Looks amazing, but we were in the middle of the desert and it randomly switched to retro visuals,It did this again to whenever we went to the store to buy weapons we dont know how to fix this bug and its really inconvenient.
Whenever we log the game with Game Center, the game froze please fix it so we can have some achievements while playing it thx.
The menus appear to be French (might be Spanish for some reason. Our phone is localized in English. Is there a way to fix this?
This game is really good… What we’ve been able to play of it. However, after reaching the dragon that turns you into a mouse, the game freezes on the loading screen. We would like to keep playing. Please fix this.
