XCOM 2 Collection Reviews

Love it. Please consider adding Long War in a future update :)

Thank you guys for fixing the game to work on Iphone 13!!!

Excellent game and we’ve been a big long time XCOM fan. The game crashes frequently on our generation 9 iPad which is a little annoying requiring reloading a recent saved game. Doesnt make us not love the game though.

We’ve taken the time to beat every XCOM on mobile and Xbox, if you have a decent phone to game on we never noticed lag or even dropped frame rate on our 12 pro max. On our iPhone 8 it would shudder for a moment at the beginning of the mission for 0.5-1.2 seconds then run well 90% of the time with no hiccups. Perfect games all around and nothing but love for the series! A must for any gamer!

We have a problem with this game. We are completely addicted. We have 600+ hours on pc and now, who knows how many more on this version. Fantastic version that is missing very little from our pc game. (In fact, we prefer a lot of the interactive mechanics on this.). We are playing on iPad mini(5th) and have had some minor issues with crashing on certain levels which the tech support team helped us with. Overall, a fantastic experience. It might be best not to play with Ironman enabled, however. Buy it and join the fight!

This by far the most snappy quickest best frames of all. Can literally play 300% quicker than console. Loading is instant. Yes its crashes, when the moon is purple.

We love this game. To be fair we own this now 3-4 times over. We first played it on PC. We next bought it on Switch. We then got a Steam deck. Finally we bought this version. Totally worth it! PC is great but not portable. Switch version has very very long load times. On the steam deck the controls arent great and the load times are okay. This port has the fastest load times, the touch controls on our iPad Pro are great and easy, and the game plays great. Take it from the guy who has bought this over and over and over this is worth it! We played it a bit on our iPhone XS Max and also very good but we prefer the large screen on our iPad. But of course cloud saves so we can play our save on either screen! So good.

When you have kids, you dont get the time in front of the TV that you would like. Having XCOM 2 on IOS solves this. Its not only a near perfect port, its a near perfect game. Why are you still reading this? Push the button. Its worth it. 1005 worth it.

Let us start off by saying this game is difficult but if you decide to stick with it, is rewarding. Sure there are times you will get frustrated (Im looking at you 99% hit chance misses) but we dont think it is ever unfair. Shake it off, use what you have learned for your next mission or game. The only thing that is a little rough would be the graphics but that aside, this is a perfect port. Dont expect PC level graphics on a mobile phone is all we can say to that. Everything else is here in gameplay and DLC. For the $15 price tag you are getting a steal. Frequent auto saves and turn based gameplay make this a perfect fit for a mobile game. Perfect for the couch or the poo breaks. You will get addicted and sometimes have a love/hate relationship but it is worth the ride. Happy hunting, Commander.

Love the XCOM series. And if youve been a fan of previous PC versions youll love this.

We’ve beat this game twice and am now playing the highest difficulty. The game goes from feeling very fast paced on normal difficulty to being more like a chess game on the highest difficulty. Great game! One of the best overall game experiences on iOS. This is a top down, turned based strategy game where you equip, upgrade, and control multiple units for combat. You lead XCOM, Earths last hope to survive an alien occupation through many different missions and locations with a large variety of enemies including three different alien hero’s that appear in random. At the maximum graphic settings the ProMax 12 is buttery smooth for this highly detailed graphical environment. Unfortunately, the phone overheats to the point that after 20 min of gameplay, iOS automatically reduces brightness by 50%, bummer! Easily fixed by holding in front of an air conditioner for a few minutes or by reducing graphic quality in options so it’s not a huge deal. The price seems steep for an iOS game but this is NOT your typical iOS game. This is actually a port from a PC game that is so well done it seems like it was developed on iOS. XCOM for iOS is worth every penny as it also comes with the DLC packs from the PC version. To get all of this on the original PC version it will cost you over 3x as much $$$.

Great game, love the dlc, love xcom. We do dislike the bugs. Pls fix it so that you can actually rescue the extra operatives in the mission where you find all of the vips in the lost city. Right now, if you try and rescue the extra operatives, the game crashes.

Its still crazy to us that we can now play full on console ports on handheld devices. We are at a rehab/work camp and have down time on the weekends. This was a great and fun way to spend some time relaxing and playing a well made game. The game itself is incredibly deep and one of the best turn based strategy games out there! If you like strategy games and have some time to kill this is a great purchase! Thank you for making this for iPhone!

Very pleased to be able to play through this game. Works fine without, but its even more playable with a keyboard and apple pencil.

Awesome game but needs Backbone support (controller)

We bought the game on iOS because we love the game on ps4 but we could use help with it not loading when we try to enter the game.

Probably our favorite game on mobile. No IAP. Not a freemium game. Not a free to play. Not a pay to win game. Port to mobile is perfect! Awesome collection. Thank you so much!

The title pretty much says it all. It doesnt get better than this.

  1. If the iPhone 11 is graphics mode compatible, why isnt the iPhone SE Gen 2? 2. Would it be possible to add the remaining PC DLC? Itd be cool if you could wiggle it in! 3. When we TW: Medieval II dropping!??? We love you guys so much, yes we are a fanboy. You guys are the first to take the step in the quality port department and youre taking all the right steps. We’ve fallen a bit behind but Im an ENTHRALLED to see Alien Isolation on mobile in its entirety! Also going to pick up Company of Heroes since you added the second DLC. Thank you guys/gals so much, Im very grateful youve stuck to making fantastic ports. THANK YOU FOR NOT COLLECTING DATA!!! You guys are TOP TIER OF AMAZING!!

Full fledged X-Com 2 with WotC addon on your iPhone. Yeah, controls can get clunky, we wish devs would add xbox controller support. Other than that, this is a fantastic port, must have for all XCom fans.

We are a big of XCOM series from the first series to XCOM Unknown. We own all copies from iOS, PC, Switch, and PS4 (Big Fan). In comparison from all our experiences, playing XCOM Unknown is truly an amazing experience to be able to play anywhere you want. With the help of Feral, they did such an incredible job to port XCOM Unknown to iOS, this statement is based on comparison with the Switch version. Contrast of visual and optimization between iOS and Switch, you can see a difference between the work that have been done by Feral. Visually, surprisingly looks better on iOS, they flush out a lot of the graphic to make the game more visually appealing and control friendly to operate the game. Optimization is where we give Feral the most credit, because the game on Switch suffer many bugs, glitches and purple arms which suffer at launch and still some part exist. On iOS with Feral help, we experienced zero negative drawback from a demanding game like XCOM Unknown. Feral really did a great job on this one and we will continue to look forward on other games Feral decide to pursue.

We own XCOM 2 on our Xbox and now also on our iPhone/iPad. And honestly, we have to say we think we prefer this version of the game better. The graphics are on-par with the console quality, but the load times are easily 5X-10X faster than they are on the Xbox. Less than 3 seconds of loading to start a mission. The Xbox can sometimes take 30 seconds+ minute. And this is the full experience folks. Everything is here, no shortcuts were taken. Im loving the console style games on our phone lately. We also own Civilization VI and Divinity Original Sin 2 on iPhone/iPad. Lets keep supporting these teams who bring us these fantastic experiences to mobile! Great job developers! Thank you!

Ran through it on easy and was working through it again on normal when we realized we have to delete this freaking game. It is so good that it was negatively impacting our life in a material way. Sleep, work, fitness, personal relationshipswere all in danger. We just wanted to lock myself away and play this game and was annoyed when we had to see people or be exposed to direct sunlight. This review is more of a good bye letter. So good bye XCOM2, you were a wild mistress. Im sure we will text you again on the late night tip, but for now, youre so much fun you are toxic to the rest of our life. Big kudos to the team that made this game. It does crash sometimes but thats because we are trying to play this awesome game on our phones. Its like 2006 when someone would complain the wifi is slow on an airplanecant appreciate games like this are available on a phone at all.

We love this game we own it on our Xbox as well but we really wish there was pvp like on xbox.

We own XCOM 2 on both PC and Switch. The PC version of the game is fantastic and one of our most played games throughout our long gaming history. When the game released on the Switch we bought it because we wanted to play the game while traveling and unfortunately the performance leaves a lot to be desired. Frame rate problems, long load times, and several small glitches really hurt the experience. None of these problems exist on the iPad version. Performance is fantastic, load times are quick, and the interface has been redesigned in such a fantastic way that we actually prefer the touch controls to either controller or mouse + keyboard. This is by far one of the best ports we have ever experienced on a mobile device and this is a fantastic way to experience one of the best tactical games ever made.

Tablet game mostly. So in depth! There is an earlier Xcom thats great too. This one the visuals, the ambient audio, and the gameplay are genius. We’ve been working in the arts as a career and sometimes this game is just looking, sounding so fin great. It is just really really cool. It ran perfect on our iPad Pro, just played through again on iPhone 12 and has been crashing a lot late game so beware. And yes this game will smoke you hard. But you quickly learn that managing your saves is important.

Touch controls are implemented well. This is a faithful port of the XCOM 2 experience. Heres hoping they bring chimera squad to iOS as well. Battery draw is significant on high graphics settings, as expected for an intensive 3D game.

This mobile port of xcom 2is just about perfect. Its xcom 2 wotc as youd know it from the pc or console. Only its still xcom. Full of bugs as it always is. We personally have found one game beaker, a holdover from pc somehow! In the Shens Last Gift DLC mission, activating the elevator and loading to the next map of the mission crashes the game consistently. Only all the pc fixes on the user end either dont apply or dont exist here! We cant turn our mods off as of course this version doesnt have them. We cant change our graphics to minimum as the graphics settings of this version arent the same either. Unless it just loads sometimes like the pc version its stuck.

Image quality isnt ideal, which intrigued us to buy an NS copy, only to find how bad the NS version is. On NS it sure renders better, but with blurry graphics and tiny fonts. Unfortunately we’ve deleted the game on iPad already. Now Im redownloading regretting the money spent on NS.

Loved XCOM for many year. Great to have another version on our iPad Pro. For the most part it is ported well but you need to tweak the buttons. When trying to equip soldiers you have to tap all around them multiple times before it accepts it.

This is one of our favorite games on mobile, but since upgrading to iPadOS 15, it has been crashing constantly on our iPad Pro 11 (2020). Just started a new game and yesterday and it has crashed at least eight times since then. Your dev team had access to the developer betas for a while. Theres no excuse for not having an update out by now.

Its XCOM so of course its an amazing game, but it crashes 2-3 times every session we play. It shouldnt be happening.

Only thing missing is the Legacy pack, which we suppose is never coming out for anything but PC.

We really enjoy the game but we have to save constantly. Which gets old fast. Save at start of mission then at the midway point then just before the end of mission. Save again at base.

We have this game on every platform imaginable. The portable version is our favorite. We were highly disappointed to find that it is not compatible with our new 5th gen iPad. Hopefully that will change soon and we can change this to a five star review.

Im a huge XCOM fan. Was excited to download and play this on our iPad. Unfortunately it crashes frequently. Its almost unplayable. We gave it 3 stars only because its XCOM. It wouldve been 1 if it was a different game.

This game is awesome. When we first got it though, it just constantly crashed to the point where we could not even continue the mission we were on. The developer was very responsive with a few ways to correct the issue in our playthrough. Though we have had one or two additional crashes, they have not prevented us from continuing our progress. We do still wish they had some settings to make it less demanding on our iPad (7th gen) so we could at least keep playing without periodic crashes. Unfortunately those setting are only on the newer devices. But the games and the version for our iPad is still awesome, if some what flawed. We would recommend it, especially on a newer more powerful device.

So many positives about XCOM and if not for crashing episodes and prompts (to use iCloud sync or local files) we would have unhesitatingly given the game a 5-stars rating. For $19.99 (which Id pay upfront any day over in-app purchases) this game needs to perform. One area that does bother us – foes seem to be able to bunch up together and move towards your XCOM team as we moved them stealthy and in Hunker Down. Feels like AI cheating to us and any player strategies feel futile so we dropped the game from our phone. Too bad.

The game is great but touch screen is never a good idea. Please update the game with MFi controller support ASAP for an optimal gaming experience.

Apple support wouldnt refund our purchase of this game cuz our device is not compatible with the game and every time we try to explain it to them they say it doesnt meet the requirements for a refund what can we do to get the refund if apple support doesnt understand what Im trying to tell them.

We have been playing about a week now and overall we love this game as we did with XCOM, enemy within. We have 2 complaints .. 1.) we are about 3 months in (in game) and it is now crashing uncontrollably. It was just every so often but now we cannot even load the game without it crashing. GAME IS COMPLETELY USELESS NOW. 2.) Also this game is WAY too hard! We have read many of the reviews on this. IF you are a hardcore pro gamer and you like impossible challenges then this is the game for you. If you are just a weekend warrior like us and enjoy a bit of a good challenge but you dont have to have extensive background knowledge on the game, then we would steer clear of this game. NOT WORTH THE MONEY BECAUSE OF THESE ISSUES!

Impressive port. Frequent crashes despite more than adequate operating guidelines. Excessive micro-transactions detract from what would be an otherwise excellent game. One would do well to stay with the much more user-friendly and less expensive Enemy Within available.

Hands down the best way to experience XCOM and we a great price for all the content included. Our problem is we have had 3 separate campaigns that we were not allowed to finish because of save issues. Our first 2 play through we tried ICloud saves that would randomnly delete themselves or desync with our local Ipad data completely wiping all our data. We had maybe 10 hours the first play through and 15+ the second. After that we figured maybe the ICloud save was bugged and gave up. One day we noticed the app updating and checked the App Store page which spoke on bug fixes and ICloud saves. Our third playthough we had about 30 hours in and decided to go against the ICloud save just in case we also decided to uninstall and reinstall the game after clearing whatever data. We were excited about the new graphical adjustments and found them very useful. But again despite not using an ICloud save our 30 hours were wiped one day out of nowhere. Hopefully this game can be fixed and we can actually regain our love for this game again.

IPad 8 th gen, load a save, plays for about a minute then crashes to the Home Screen, maybe not enough ram on the 8th gen iPad?

This is in the first bon-scripted mission, second literal mission of the game. We’ve combed the entire map trying to finish the mission by finding the last enemy group but its nowhere to be seen. This is a massive issue.

Last night, before downloading this game, we read that it was written that iphone se 1st generation supports this game, but today this post has been removed and we can not open the game either! Today in the suppoerted iphone section, the name se has been removed.

How is this able to play on an iPad 4, 5 and 7, but not ipad6? It doesnt even let us try to play it, just gives a sorry message a exits. How do we get a refund from apple? This is our favorite game with thousands of hours on steam sad face.

We have iOS 14.7.1 and Im unable to play.

Please add controller support for XCOM2 on ios.
