We’ve learned a great deal just practicing with it. It teaches you the basics quite well.
We really like the app, and the functions they have designed. It allows for a unique way to apply rudder, which actually works better than other designs. We are a pilot and it helps us sharpen some of our skills. Especially simulating emergencies.

The thermals, winds and clouds felt realistic and interesting. For $5 its awesome. It would be awesome at a much higher price. After soaring for quite a while, we got low and started planning our outlanding, but then caught a thermal and went back up to cloud base and even explored around the edges of the clouds. When we decided to come down, the spoiler controls seemed backwards to us, but you can test out the proper direction. We were able to locate an airport and land. The screen limitation of only being able to look forward makes it necessary to really pay attention to your airport and judge the pattern carefully. We were able to bring it in to a good landing on the runway, and was a little disappointed that the brakes didnt have any effect, as we rolled and rolled and rolled and rolled. But hey, thats a small thing. Im really glad we found this app, and hope the developers are happily continuing the project!
We knocked off one star because there are a few problems. Navigation is a bit wonky, and altitude instruments in the gliders are all off. ASL should be identical to the aircraft ASL instrument. France and Italy are very difficult at the start. No lifts anywhere near by after released from the tow. So you end up just landing way before ever getting a chance to get to a lift zone and gain any altitude. These are not deal breakers. This is so far the best glider simulation currently available. A very nice start to this second version by a excellent developer. Looking forward to improvements, and additions. Alternate airstrips or airports would be great.
This is a really fun app but the sound does not work.
As another reviewer wrote, the navigation is a little wonky in this sim but the flight models and graphics are great. Its the best sparing sim we’ve found for iOS and keeps us busy on mornings when we get rained out at the club. More options in terms of sailplanes and locations would be welcome, although Im not sure whether the developers are still updating this title.
Would like to see more additions like a duo discus, asw-27’s, maybe even a nice motor glider to shake things up ? 4 stars great sim for a mobile device, only reason why it’s not a 5 is because there is always room to improve. :)
We liked the free extreme soaring and decided to buy the extreme soaring 3D. The menus are virtually the same except for the sites. Paid version had several US based sites, free version had mostly European sites. Good news is the app is very realistic. We are glider pilot with over 500 flights. Got too slow while in a thermal in the ASK-21 and the sudden stall was dramatic.
