Player Experience Highlights

Community Insight:

We stumbled upon this game, and Im so glad we did. Its perfect for a casual gamer like us who wants something interesting, with some depth, but not overly complicated, that can be played in a few minutes, like during a break from work. The design is awesome and the UI as easy as can be. If you read the short manual, then play once with the tutorial, the strategy will start to click and youll get the hang of it quickly as you continue to play. We really appreciate the fair up-front price with no ads or unfair IAP. This developer did a great job, and we appreciate that. We need more developers like this who monetize the right way. Thank you so much for making this game! Its really fun to have a board/dice game you can play here and there when you have time.

This app is actually based on the board game of the same name from Portal Games. Its plays quick and is relatively simple to learn. As you play, you get different buildings to play with so it a always changing (you could also replay the same setup an infinite number of times). The tutorial provides everything you need to know to play. Over time you will learn the strategies to get better scores! Perfect game for those small down times at the doctors office, etc.

So, Im ranked in the top 5%. We keep playing and playing and playing and….. We can not get to the next level to open new levels. It is a really horrible tease to show more levels but have no way to access. There was no warning up front of what it would take to get more levels. Beyond irritating.

As others have said, developers would stand to benefit from actually listening to reviewer feedback and making level unlocks cheaper. Its a great game but sadly we will never experience more than half the content because we do not have the time to play the same levels over and over again to grind crowns. Some is ok but it is too much. Great game with a pretty good implementation for mobile.

We were looking forward to this game since we saw Rodney Smith demonstrate the physical dice game on his YouTube series How Its Played. However, our local board game store never got it in stock and we never got around to ordering it from Amazon. When the digital version finally debuted, we were really excited to finally get to play it, but by then we had forgotten how to play it. Well, the iOS version doesnt exactly help that, the tutorial is just a quick overlay and the manual requires tons of scrolling through text. We rewatched the How Its Played video and was able to jump right in. Once we got started playing, we quickly fell in love with the game. While we would love to have all of the maps available, we do appreciate then replayability and having to choose your next one carefully. We sat down with the intention of playing one game and before we knew it, we had completed 6 games and unlocked multiple maps. Definitely going to be playing this game for awhile.

What score do we need to get to a new level.

Agree with other reviewers. Maps progressively require more wins to unlock which we like to a certain degree, but its too much. The player board is not viewable in certain situations where it would be helpful to see. And the undo button is limited to the main action phase. Aside from this, the game is entertaining.

We can not get the game to work. Frustrating, it loads then crashes.

Sadly, when automatically offered a reroll (Canteen) in Settlement #2, it is not possible to view your play area to be able to better decide how to proceed. Working mechanics is already in place on other screens (tap and hold outside of the dialog box to hide it temporarily). Why in some place but not in another? :^(.

What is the point of requiring you to replay levels so many times to unlock additional levels. Will never buy another Portal game again.

We rarely rate games anymore but we so surprised and excited about this. The op game was terrible if you didnt have the wooden pieces from Imperial Settlers to help you track how many resources you had. This app is even easier and very fast playing. One of the best roll and writes.

Really good implementation overall. Wish the cloud save functionality was working so our progress would follow us between iPhone and iPad. When they fix this it will be a 5 star rating.

Title says it all. This is a solid and fun implementation / adaptation.
