Electric RC Sim is a Sports/Sports/Simulation game from Ben White, first launched in 13th September 2013.
It’s rated 4+ and currently has 61+ ratings on the App Store.
What Makes Electric RC Sim Stand Out
Experience all the fun and excitement of RC plane flying without leaving your chair! Electric RC Sim is a flight simulator for radio controlled aircraft. Fast startup plus realistic physics and graphics make it a pleasure to fly. Use it to learn to fly (I did!), hone your skills, or just have fun flying around.
Learning to fly an RC plane takes practice, and Electric RC Sim can help you learn much faster. If (when) you crash, just press the reset button and you're flying again. There's no need to fuss with building, repairing, or waiting for a calm day, saving you time and money.
Includes:
- two drones: simulates 4 motors, 3 axis gyro, PID controllers. Practice flips!
- all my favourite aircraft: two trainers, a slow flyer, an aerobatic plane and a flying wing
- aerobatic plane: learn to perform moves such as knife edging, snap rolls, ground loops
- P-51 for some scale flying fun
- ducted fan jet with massive control surfaces: crazy fast and crazy fun. Do flat spins like Maverick!
- control line plane: great for learning control basics
- "antigravity" trainer: have fun while learning the controls without having to worry about gravity
- four different flying fields, each with different wind conditions
- handy help guide for beginner pilots
Features:
- detailed nonlinear nonstationary flight dynamics model
- photorealistic graphics
- intelligent camera view and zoom helps improve sense of space and speed of your plane
- landscape and portrait view: portrait view helps with sense of altitude of your plane
- works great on iPhone; looks amazing on iPad
- realistic engine sounds: gotta love the sound of a screaming brushless!
Advanced controller (available as an optional In-App Purchase):
- set rates, expo and trim per model
- access to additional drone modes:
- hold: gentler for beginners
- expert: a blend of acro and auto levelling
- acro: sticks control turn rates – flies just like a 3d heli!
To prevent accidental purchases, you can disable In-App Purchases in your device settings.
Customer reviews:
"I received a physical quad copter/drone as a gift, and having never been around one had issues flying it. I was hesitant to practice, fearing causing damage to the flyer or persons/animals. I found this app which allows simulated flying in a safe environment with the exact controls my particular model used. After a couple days with the app I was able to fly the real thing with confidence, and within a week was completing flips, spins, fast direction changes, and expert maneuvers. I can't recommend this program enough."
"What a great training tool… Superb stall and flight control simulation. Love the wind…"
"Most realistic rc sim at the moment!! … novice to experienced will enjoy"
"Portrait view is a great idea, and the camera zoom works perfectly. UI is simple and to the point…"
"Once I heard the word 'flips'… Awesome"

Community Insight:
This is the best RC flight game on mobile. Planes go fast. Fun to fly. Good to play. No ads, which is wonderful, and only 2 total purchases possible. And yes the controls are TIGHT. The F-18 is the best plane. Invest in the full version, because the lite only has 3-CH trainer. You will love this game. But mostly you will love the F-18. It goes about 60 mph.
We love this game so much and its so much fun we hope you can make more fun.(the nickname was not working so we had to put in a crazy nickname).
Let us start by saying: this is a very realistic RC flight simulator. You will however want to upgrade to the advanced transmitter if you want to enjoy this sim to its fullest. Our only gripe (if you could call it that) and more of a suggestion would be for the apps developer s would be to ad multiple camera views, like: follow and cockpit view for example. Flaps and retractable landing gear are also a must and smoke would be a nice touch as well. This flight sim is great for novice as well as seasoned pilots. First time flyers will find it very easy to learn on and will save anyone lots -o- $$$ on damaged replacement parts/planes, etc. Five stars here folks.
We purchased this application to learn how to fly a drone before we actually flew one. This is the most useful application we have ever used on our iPhone. We are screen mirroring on our flatscreen using our Apple TV and we are well on our way to becoming a drone pilot! Thank you for this training application. Developers get ***** 5/5.
More drones/ auto correct,return.
Great app but needs more airplanes.
The great part of the app is that you can set the controls so they're not as touchy, making it easier to learn how to fly. We'd like to maybe the addition of a helicopter and possibly a first person view like you'd have if flying a drone with a camera. We'd recommend it to anyone.
Expect a bare bones simulator with good physics. Snap rolls, tip stalls, hammerheads are all decently modeled. Outside of that, it's minimal. The environment is just a stitched bitmap. Definitely a true simulator, not a fly through the ring type game.
Just like flying a real RC plane and you don't have to pay for anything extra in the game. You have 11 vehicles and 4 backgrounds. And there aren't adds or anything other than what you want.
FPV view, Needs more rc models (cargo plane, boat plane, 4channel trainer with flaps, etc)and new parks with actual objects ( benches, trees, ponds, etc.). And possibly new parks with elevated ground, and other with ponds. And settings to change the wind power on each different map. Other wise we would recommend buying this if you want to have a rc alternative if you can't fly.
We have RealFlight and Phoenix flight simulators, but only on our desktop. This app is on our tablet and allows us to have fun flying anytime we have a few minutes. Nice selection of different style planes for each flying preference. We also like the new quad….it would be nice if there were maybe a small beacon of light (LED) on the rear to keep us oriented. The black and green props can sometimes be hard to distinguish at a distance, especially if you do flips. And even though we don't fly with thumbs only on our transmitters, we have no problem making the adjustment at the flying field. We have tried almost every flight sim app in the App Store….this is by far the best.
For less than the cost of a 16 oz coffee, this little sim offers a way to start anew, or brush up on your RC flying skills. The choice of planes and quadcopters is great and they seem to us to be quite realistically modeled. We put about three hours of time on this sim before getting back into the air with an RC trainer after a 20-year hiatus. It definitely gave us the confidence to toss that new plane in the air and fly basic maneuvers again. The latest update includes a new flying environment and an aerobatic quad. Nice to see the developer offering substantial updates to his product.
We've had electric rc boats and cars for years. Every couple years we would build a plane only to crash it on its maiden flight(stall!) we're not as good a pilot as we thought we would be. This app is easy to use and feels realistic. We were really able to see progress in our flying skills after a couple hours of practice. We're so glad we didn't have to build all the planes we've crashed! We then upgraded for the extra fields(different wind conditions) and planes which have been fun to play with. Really for the price, it's a bargain.
This app is great for practice. One request is to have a track or a course where we could fly our planes through.
Title says it all. Tons of included planes.
Lite version of this is not so hot but this is a good game. We paid for updated controller and never saw any difference in the controller. Well, we reckon the programmers need to be paid for their effort. Its still a really good game.
Ive tried a couple other sims but this is by far the best. Needs a couple Heli models to round out the selections.
IF YOU ENJOY RC AIRCRAFT, BUY THIS APP IT'S VERY MUCH WORTH IT. We enjoy flying each aircraft equally. Our wishlist for this app includes: 1. More aircrafts for each category(jets, warbirds, slow park flyers, maybe even a Goodyear blimp, etc.) 2. Biplanes(WW1 warbirds) 3. Standard Helicopters(cobra, Blackhawk, utility copter, etc.) 4. FPV for the drones.
This app is great and is a great way to start flying line of sight. If we could only get some more locations and maybe some racing quads that would be great too.
Drones does not hover… Period. For comparison, try pica sim for powered planes. In our opinion the best. (By far) Smooth graphics. Good for practice on RC flying.
We were looking for something that could fly in 3demension as if we were flying a drone like the phantom. The drones didn't hold steady in one spot. But it was good for practice.
Fun game but hasn't been updated in a while. Needs new planes and locations.
All of the RC planes are decent, but the drones have some weird physics. Instead of falling like a stone, they glide down slowly when throttle is off. Also, sometimes it seems the quad is overly smooth. It tilts dramatically but does not go fast. We really hoped the Drone 250 would help with racing drone skills, but these, along with other difficulties like flipping unexpectedly, make the drone sims useless. Overall, the planes' physics are ok, but they also need work on the physics while gliding.
Flying wing starts out in the sky, and just falls to the ground. We purchased this just for the wing. Save your money.
Have an RC air plane that we've been trying to fly on water for years. After many crashes and repairs, found this app! What a lifesaver.
Flying the simple trainer at the beach location is good therapy. Great app. Only wish would be another flying location, and FPV for the quadcopter.
Best $2 we've spent an a while! Very satisfied. Thank you to the developers for an elegant, easy to use, yet robust app.
We love training on this app. Great choice of aircraft. Could use a stunt course for the next update.
We've tried several of the RC airplane sims in the App Store and this one is by far the easiest to use and quick to load. The controls are accurate and realistic. We wish there were some more planes and locations. We'd be willing to pay for those. We also wish the background were higher resolution but it's a relatively minor issue. Overall very entertaining and helpful as a new RC enthusiast.
New review: With improvements made as were suggested by many this SIM is the best Drone flying experience you can get.. Old: Needs controls that provide more stable flying experience. Should also have a second zoom window.
Enjoy this app it's realistic as you can get on a phone. Worth the money.
Straight up flying (and crashing) at a mere fraction of the cost. We just bought our fist quadcopter last week and have flown RC planes in the past. This is the basics of how it feels. This app lets us play in the sun at the park at night from our couch and do things that normally would make the RC hobby too expensive for our tastes. It may be a simple flying app combining physics of aerodynamics with a bunch of pixels, but it does it really well. Thanks.
We are not a beginner, however all our experience is with fixed wing aircraft, have started flying quads recently including an expensive 3dr iris+ with gopro camera, lots of bells and whistles like altitude hold as a few here have asked for, the iris is a great camera quad but we never get aggressive with it, not wanting to crash all that money,,this sim really works once we got used to our thumbs not feeling the sticks, if you have never flown anything at all or need to improve on your skills we highly recommend this sim, the quad is spot on with the real thing, power it up enough to yaw on the ground and watch the props change speed from left to right rotation, very nice job, and in the air roll and pitch are perfect, NOT having altitude hold a real plus here teaching our throttle thumb to pay attention, you can really sence the lift versus weight and learn proper throttle management, practice with this, you will soon be showing off with the real thing,,,,,fly drones,,,,also wanted to mention this sim has real photo background scenery, not a digital video game look, much much more real feel,,isn't that what a simulator should create? Only thing we would like in a sim and even more on a real quad is,,automatic 400ft altitude limit built in and auto ground avoidance, the quad would over ride our input making hitting the ground impossible except in land mode,,,and the ability to switch this mode on or off,,,Mabey on the next update.
Love this sim, very realistic. We second the request for an altitude hold feature for the quad.
Best two bucks we've spent to date. We're still inside the learning curve of the multicopter world and using this simulator is so much cheaper than wrecking a high dollar drone. FPV capability would be a really addition as well as the ability to plug our transmitter (Spektrum Dx6i) in using the audio port. Well worth the money.
This is a cool way to get a feel for how to fly a quadcopter. All you crash is electrons :) When you finally buy one, you'll be thankful you spent time with this.
Got this to learn and practice as a new quadcopter flyer. So far so good, app is great! Keep the updates coming.
Really nice to be able to fly quads in acro mode. Did not understand how rate mode worked until we enabled acro. Now we can fly our real racing quad in rate mode more confidently. Great improvement on overall app guys. Good job.
It looks very nice. Other RC apps look like they were made for DOS or something. Would be great to have a glider version with a park with thermals.
It is a very fun thing to do when you're a little bored. It's a great game. But we really liked the way the joysticks snapped to your finger in the old version. There should be an option to switch between the two modes.
The sim is much better then it was, It is fly able now. We can think of one thing that would make this a lot better, and that would be a hight hold button for the quad like some do. With that this sim would get 5 stars.
We really recommend the flight simulator, its the best on the app store. But it'll be nice if u can at Fpv on the quadcopter.
What a great training tool. Only thing we could think to add would be gear up (with appropriate AC) and a trim tab like a real radio. Couldn't image how far this simulation has come since we did our AF UPT in the 70s. We would have paid (and did pay) tens/hundreds of millions for this kind flight simulation. Superb stall and flight control simulation. Love the wind. The runway on the no wind option could be a little wider and a little further away.
We recently wanted to start rc flying but didn't own a PC so DL this app on recommendation from a friend and it feels like the real thing and is preparing us for wen we go out there and fly this is the best phone RC Sim.
We are new to RC flying, so this app helped us a ton. It helped us build some confidence before we flew our real RC planes. Highly recommended this app. It's great for beginners and totally worth the money. Hopefully they will add some more planes/ advanced settings (rates/flaps/gear).
This is a good app to buy before you start flying the real deal.
This is an excellent RC flight simulator! If you have the full paid version. :p we purchased this app and it was worth it! We agree it can use more variations on weather/wind. We would like to suggest a dawn/dusk setting with the models equipped with lights, this would give this simulator an almost infinite replayability option and verge of an epic RC simulator app. Great job! Looking forward to more options. -RAD.

We found this app which allows simulated flying in a safe environment with the exact controls our particular model used. Alongside trying PicaSim (another amazing RC sim on the AppStore), we have found Electric RC Sim to be a beautifully simple app with a clean interface, unique RC models with their own individual flight characteristics, nicely done panoramic environments, smooth gameplay, and many other great features. We especially like how the camera automatically zooms up on your RC plane as you fly it farther away. We have been interested in flying quadcopters for quite some time now, and decided to get this RC Sim to practice. Was very happy that we did! We highly recommend you invest the $1.99 in this app, and get in some virtual flighttime (where you will be using an indestructible quadcopter that can respawn indefinitely) before you spend your $400 – $4,000 on a fancy camera drone quadcopter (one crash may be its' last)! After receiving an actual quadcopter from a friend as a gift, we can confidently tell you that Electric RC Sim's quadcopter flies very much like the real thing! Thanks jetstripes.com for making a high quality RC flightsim, and offering it for a price within many peoples' reach! And thank you fellow Electric RC Sim users for supporting them! (Yipes! Yes! We know! We wrote something like that in our PicaSim review, do pardon our monotony. We cannot help ourselves when it comes to encouraging others to support companies that care about their customers and their products, not money.).
We use the Quadcopter for practice before flying outside works great.
