A Glimpse into Drone On My Phone

Want to learn how to fly a drone or improve your FPV flying skills? Drone On My Phone has been designed by the makers of Electric RC Sim to help you learn and improve faster. It includes challenges for both FPV (First Person View) and LOS (Line Of Sight). Many challenges are free and there is no third-party advertising.

Drone On My Phone now includes larger open maps if you’d rather just fly and focus on freestyle or doing things your way.

Drone On My Phone includes MFi game controller support. iOS 13 and higher supports PS4 and Xbox controllers. VR mode is available with a game controller and suitable headset, including both 2d view (like FPV goggles) and 3d view options.

Drone On My Phone also includes Bluetooth multiplayer racing. Challenge a nearby friend with Drone On My Phone over bluetooth.

Drone On My Phone uses our realistic physics engine. Beginner challenges are performed with the full physics engine and additional stabilization to simplify flying while you are still learning. This is designed to allow you to learn the skills you need a bit at a time rather than being overwhelmed with too much to remember at once. Skills to practice include hovering, landing and flying through gates.

When you feel you are ready, there are more advanced challenges to try. High and low rates are also available. Start low while you are learning, then switch to high rates when you are ready to go faster.

Drone On My Phone also includes a Games map which consists of a number of obstacle courses to fly. These are fun and will help improve your hovering and maneuvering skills.

Additional maps with more challenges are available as a low cost In-App Purchase (IAP) to help you take your skills to the next level. An Advanced Controller is available as a low cost IAP that allows you extra control over things such as expo, rates, FPV camera tilt, and drone mode. The default drone mode is STAB (also called angle mode), which gives automatic stabilization and is great for learning. It’s the mode that most store-bought drones use. ACRO drone mode (also called rates mode) is also available via the Advanced Controller for advanced flying such as loops, flips, barrel rolls and maximum speed flying.

To enable a game controller, first pair your controller under iOS Settings, Bluetooth. Button bindings are shown under the Options menu in Drone On My Phone. Once a controller is paired, you can enable VR mode by pressing the appropriate button on your controller. VR mode requires a suitable headset to view properly, such as a Google Cardboard headset.

To challenge a nearby player over Bluetooth, both players should first start Drone On My Phone and go to the "Challenges" page. One player can then press "Host", and the other player can press "Join". When they are connected, the player who is hosting can select challenges and both players can compete in real time. All the free challenges are available to choose from. Also, if the host has purchased additional challenges, then all those challenges will be available as well. Bluetooth has a range of around 20m (60 feet), so you’ll want to be sitting near each other. Perfect for that long bus ride or car trip!

We hope you have as much fun playing Drone On My Phone as we had making it (and playing it!)

Here are some of the great App Store reviews we’ve been getting:

"This is my favorite drone app by far!! Great for a beginner like me trying to learn the basics of flying a real drone."

"… if you can fly successfully using this app, you’ll be able to fly the drone of your choice in the real world. The physics are realistic, and the obstacle course style training – in my opinion – is a really great way to learn to control your quad."

"I’ve been searching for far too long for a good FPV simulator to practice or just play around when I’m at school. This game’s physics are some of the closest to life you will find at the time and the controls are spot on!"

"Hands down the best drone simulator on iOS"

We really like the training challenges on this app for learning to fly drones. Id much rather crash this drone than a real one. It starts out with simple training exercises in hovering and maneuvering and gets more difficult as the training progresses. Its totally worth it to learn to fly in this app vs in real life. We purchased the extra maps and the advanced controller. For the maps, it would be nice to visit that giant city out in the distance on the School map. Maybe thats coming in the future? As for the advanced controls, we must admit theyre a bit difficult at first to navigate through and configure. But after a while you get used to it and can modify the 15 settings easily. The defaults are at jetstripes. Com/controller-defaults nice to have when you screw up the settings. Anyway, all in all, its a fun app to learn to fly without destroying your physical drone, especially if you have an FPV headset for your phone and an MFi controller. Those are cheap to get and totally make the experience better. Highly recommended!

Edit this game is awesome! As long as you play with your hands and not a controller.

Im a huge fan! We’ve tried all of the other fpv simulators on the App Store and this is by far the best. Its allowed us to learn and get used to the fpv control set. We would love more maps like Old Refinery. Thats what we play 99% of the time and we would love more complicated small environments like this with lots of ways to interact and do tricks. The other maps are too empty to spend much time in or practice skills and we havent really touched the challenges. Anyways great job team, thanks for bringing this to the App Store.

Great game, could you guys add a crosshairs possibly? Thats the only problem we have so far. Just add a cross in the center of the camera.

This game is very awesome and we enjoy playing this simulator and we love how it works with controllers.

We’ve always been a fan of drone on our phone, been playing it for years now and its still super fun! The addition of just fly and new maps has made the game even more enjoyable. We think the drone flies a bit better as well which is exciting. Our feedback would be this, Id love to see race challenges for the new maps, especially for school since it has gates etc already in place. Id also love to see an online leaderboard for the best challenge time. Sincerely Captainvanover.

Great app but they should open up all of the maps for competitions to free fly.

This is the only app that gets UI steering right. The large area for the thumbs allows for precise controls. But there is no ACRO mode.

This is a good game and the art style is amazing but the game needs a few more maps for the just fly mode.

We just bought this game today and its already convinced us to buy extra maps for like $3. We think that says something. BUT they really should add settings for the drone like how sensitive it is, sport mode, normal mode, manual mode, all that stuff. AND update the maps and make it bigger and add more stuff.

This game is amazing everything about it we love from the basic geometric shapes to the amazing gameplay this game is an awesome single player game that lets you find out just how creative you can be with a drone. Though there is 1 minor problem that just really kills the game for us, its that everything cost money we dont like spending money on games and if you are the same way this game may not be for you this game has 1 free fly map with very little obstacles or places to fly to test your skills although there are a few tutorial missions its not enough for you to just play the game doing the missions we also wish the default layout for your controller wasnt so basic you pretty much only have a forward, back, up, and down we wish we had more freedom for someone who is like us that cant afford or just doesnt like to spend money on games. We hope the developers take our review into consideration.

What we dont like is that when your in or out of free flight its isnt just fast. And we feel it can do better.

This game has no music and cannot do properly with our ps4 controller.

So good but the controls are kinda hard to learn but still a good game.

We looked fun but when we played it there was no tutorial and we did not know how to go down.

This is a perfect drone sim. The normal mode is like a stability/ beginner mode. If you want Acro we believe that you have to buy it but other than that its great!

As a 5 year professional level pilot , and we think we’ve been playing this sim for 3 years or so, this is still the best FPV sim for iPhone hands down. 2 BIG request: 1. GLOBAL LEADERBOARD!!! 2. Fix the drifting of the drone when at full throttle with no input. Smaller request being, heavier feeling racing drone, more rate control ( we think even high is a tad bit to slow for acro moves ), and of course new levels!

Love this app. We’ve spent over 30 hours on this app and Id gladly spend more. Teaches you the basics of flying an fpv drone without spending the insane amount of cash of crashing. Worth spending the few bucks on the extra accessories. Only problem we’ve had is we like to listen to music however the drone buzzing is a little loud. Any way we can get a way to turn it down or off? Thank you!

Im a beginner to quadcopters and this app is such a good simulator that not only helps us get familiar with the control system, but gained a lot real experience as well. The multi-player mode via Bluetooth is definitely another amazing feature! One tiny thing is that it would probably be perfect if the RC controllers can be incorporated into the app via some transition cord.

So, we started at 1 star because we couldnt figure out the PIDs and camera tilt after we bought it. It takes a minute sometimes. We currently our fav drone sim app for IPhone. No sim is 100% like the real thing, the skills generally transfer to a real drone. Good job.

Its a great game! We have an dualshock 4 and its just amazing but pls add the freeroam mode!

We have flown the real thing and this is the best sim on iOS. It seems almost impossible, but after some practice its the best. We love this sim, we have used it a bunch. Now we actually want some more levels… Maybe if they get this message they could make a new level. Maybe a bando or try to fake an outdoor scene with trees? We know its limited, but this sim has made our IRL flying so much better. Thank you to the people that created it!!

We love all the game styles of this and the drone movement is perfect.

Im very glad this exists before jumping into drone flying IRL. At home we use some PC sims with an actual radio and on the go we use Drone on our phone…. Seriously this is so awesome! Two major things that would take this app over the top would be #1 have more maps to freestyle/race in, #2 customizable rigs (what happens if we put increased pitch props over the other, bigger motors affect flying how? 4s speed vs 6s etc etc) With how good this app is, you could probably have a drone building tutorial to get people building drones. It doesnt have to be super in depth but just the core components to get flying fpv. Id pay $20 for it if it had just the first 2 options.

We love the app, but we really wish there was just an open huge field that we can just play in. No time, no goals, just play. We think people learn in different ways and we think It would be fun too.

This is a good game but it really needs a free flight mode and a more open spaced map.

We’ve been in the Fpv hoody for about 6 months now. But practicing on the full app, allowed us to progress very quickly. Please add more spaces to fly.

We love the sim But there is an issue with the drone at full throttle where the drone will kinda auto turn and go off to another direction not straight. But overall we love the game and we think u should add bigger maps like a city map with skyscrapers.

As far as we can tell, this is the only acceptable simulator on the iOS store. The speed of the drone is appropriate. The graphics, while basic, dont get in the way of the feel of flying a drone. We just bought a mavic and because of this game we felt way more comfortable taking risks with it.

We love the work you did on this app. And Playing this simulation actually helps our real life drone skills cause we actually have a drone myself. But,I hope you do more updates.

This app is simple and shows all the basics of flying drones. The graphics are not flashy and complex which actually keeps the app from lagging like a lot of the newer apps do. Flying a drone is not like flying a plane, which a lot of people can already do, but this app makes it easy to learn the controls and concepts. It also works offline, so if in a subway or on an airplane, you can still play/practice. 2 player mode over Bluetooth is fun and convenient. We would like to offer a few areas of future improvement: customizing controls more, such as rates of turning, a score board for best run times. The ability to reset the race in 2 player modes. Races with more than 2 players would also be a great upgrade. A method to mute the sound within the app would be nice. Additional drones could be fun. More maps would also be a great bonus. Thank you for putting together this great app. We hope to see more improvements in the future!

We recently just got a drone but not new to RC as we’ve flown RC planes for many years. We wanted something we could practice on before ruining our drone in real life. We’ve been downloading many of the drone apps from the Apple Store, and this one by far seems to be one of the better ones. We like that it has learning games to help get used to the controls and differences from planes. There is good spatial feedback to help us perceive where the drone is in relation to obstacles and goals. For us, being a newbie, the flight characteristics seem very real world. Kudos to the developers. We look forward to see what may happen in future updates.

This is gonna be short, we love the game….. Its honestly amazing with Acro mode. But one suggestion, make a really big map with obstacles in it. Like it can be a big park with a playground or just a copy of the old map but way more room. We feel limited when we fly and we would like more room like real life. Please take this into consideration and keep up the good work?

As a new drone owner this app has helped us practice and get better without risking a crash out in the field.

New to fpv and this is super helpful in getting the hang of flying before the real thing! Plus its free!!

We’ve been playing this for the past week and its our first experience with an fpv drone. We’ve started to really get the hang of it and Im having a blast. Our only problem is that theres only 2 maps, and we wanted to ask if theres going to be a new update coming out and when because getting some new maps would really make this game so much more fun.

We got really into this game and got both in-game purchases, but it has never been able to restore them even once in the last few years. We keep trying, definitely refuse to buy them again. Edit: developer has since responded and restored purchases! Thank you!

So we love this game soooooo much and we even bought the maps and it just made it better but the only thing that we ask is for another update we see a lot of potential in this game and would highly recommend this to people so yeah great game and please update it.

It helps us fly our drone and it helps us get better at flying and helps us be a pilot for it so thank yall very much.

Love the app, love the games. But would love a freestyle big open map to fly around without being constrained to games.

Why would we need to pay to get maps?!? That is so weird just let it be free. We just want to play them. We are giving a five star because ego be polite but it will or else be a four star. Edit: ok but still eh like your game.

This little sim is much more fun with a controller! We love it! Thank you guys for supporting this feature. Also purchasing the full app to fly fpv is worth Every penny.

This is a very good overall mobile fpv sim it seems better than anything we’ve seen but there are a few problems. We really would like there to be more frequent updates this game has lot of ptential, one of the things that needs updated is multiplayer it just searches forever and never finds our freind. One of them is its too smooth compared to a real quad there needs to be some prop wash and other imperfections to make it more realistic, we would also like more detailed rates and setting like pid tunes and other quads to select, we would also like more maps like abandoned buildings and parks and stuff, also instead of paying individually for maps and settings make the whole app cost 4 dollars and give every thing within the app. Overall this is a very good game and we would recommend to anyone. This needs a lot more frequent updates the last one was almost a year ago.

This app has Acro mode among other settings you can tweak. We’ve tried several of the apps that were really basic and were way too easy. This one is actually challenging and has quite a few skill challenges.
