Player Experience Highlights

Community Insight:

Would be 5 stars but the AI partners are not intuitive. Nothing beats playing with a real person who knows how. Otherwise, its lots of fun.

Need to allow high/low/no options for same number of books! No beats low, low beats high.

Excellent chance to play Bid whist.

North doesnt play realistic, doesnt get rid of his trumps. We could be the best player in the world, but if North doesnt play logically we cant win. Therefore why should we play.

Played 5 straight hands and had to defend against east /west all five! Who wrote the program.

This game is alot of fun and there are alot of options that are provided to customize your game to the various rules/styles of playing Bid Whist! The main gripe we have is that the AIs game strategy as your partner could be improved. Too often we find the AI cutting over us for no reason, especially when they have losers in their hand. This periodically happens when we have the bid or when Im in the process of winning the book to help our partner when the AI wins the bid. Another case is during a no trump bid, the AI also has a bad habit of winning a book and not giving our suit back to us so that we can continue leading the charge on our bid. If these issues can be ironed out, this game is one to be played all the time.

It could use a little upgrade for example our partner when we had a bid our partner plays the Trump back to us. Well, we only ones who have Trump therefore leaving us vulnerable to the opponent turning a book which he couldve cut if he had held onto the Trump. In other words, we should have them in a crossfire. He shouldnt push trumps back on when were the only ones who have trumps and our number two flex,in a no Trump, even though he might have a winner, he needs to get out of our way because he might not have another winning card in his hand and then he let us vulnerable to the other players, In other words, if he doesnt have a couple of one in cards to get back to us or if hes not able to get back to us, he should get out of our way. Let us run the boy.

Good introduction if you already know, the basics set up is awesome.

This was fun and exciting until it was changed. Not sure if that is AI or just updated. The previous game had a function to stop play once the contract is set, this is now playing the hand until the end which is Not Bid Whist. Once the contract is set. The game is over.

[[ Looking for the setting where our partner doesn't play against us and give away books. That type of behavior gets you kicked from the "grown folks" card table. Deleting the app now ]] Above is our review from at least 2 years ago. The Ai partner cuts you out of books they can lay off on. And personally underplays (not play the winning card) on books they should go get. But the opponent NEVER has these clashes. Idky the partner can't play with the same level of competence as the Ai on the other team. Or if they just ALWAYS play to win the book. At least we can adjust to that. But we have to show the cards every hand of play just to make sure our partner is playing correctly. And they don't. Only giving two stars bc 1 star reviews are not taken seriously.

Games is user friendly and work to give time to study the hand being played.

If you won the bid with a Trump, shouldnt you always force your opponents to play their trumps as well? This is Bid Whist not spades.

Why dont you allow real random deals? Its ridiculous how the other team always has a bettable hand. NOT FUN.

We enjoyed playing against the AI. One quirky thing Ive noticed. It seems to play best at level 3. The playing gets weird at level 6.

We only receive four cards in the same suit, whereas the other team ends up with enough to bid six. We know what their suit will be, because we only have one card in that suit.

Our issue is it seems like east/west get the more hands to bid! We enjoy the game but seldom does 1st, 2nd hand passes before it get to you.

We want to learn and the prompts help us develop our skills to bid and play.

The best bid whist app Ive played. It plays like a real person would. Unlike other apps out there, this one follows your lead, gets two-suited, etc. One improvement would be for our computer partner to stop skating and play its winner immediately if the computer opponent is fishing. Weve bumped heads until we realized it was doing that. Minor adjustments that Ive adapted to.

Very rarely get dealt hands you can bid on. Play anyway because we love the game.

Play all the time but adding this app can help us improve us strategies.

We know that free apps are subject to many unwanted ads, but we read and do not look at pictures. We also read English. The app was good until it started showing the Ads in Chinese language.

Great game. Only thing partner passes when hes even board and lets a no trump bid in and he has no aces in his hand to get in.

If a low bid could win a high bid as indicated in preferences we would rate this application more stars. Thanks for the game. UPDATE: we received a solution from the developers: select low beats high in custom settings (we also selected auto after hand is determined), start new game, and that worked, thanks team.

Looking for the setting where our partner doesn't play against us and give away books. That type of behavior gets you kicked from the "grown folks" card table. Deleting the app now.

The only thing that keeps it from being perfect is that it goes out of its way to give you the worst hands. Other that that its a good game.

Best bid game out there. Our one complaint is that we have it set for a low bid to take out a high bid but too often Im not slowed to do so & must bid a no Trump or go up a bid. Fix that & this will be a perfect App.

Id pay for a good bid whist app without ads.

We get ityou want to challenge the players but this approach that seems to favor the computer opponents has to stop!! No one can be that lucky where the first computer opponent has the Trump and their partner just happens to have either the rest of the Trump or the best of the off suits. Meanwhile, our computer partner is hit and miss on how to play cards let alone Bid Whist. Very disappointing playing experience in an otherwise good app.

There should be a WORKING option for bids. A low bid should win over a high bid. A 4 high can be taken out by a 4 low and 4 no. A no bid takes out everting.

Good first attempt. We think that the scoring is off. We believe on any 4 bid, a 4 from the opponent stops that bid. Here it takes a 5 to stop a 4 bid. Other than that its not a bad game.

For those of us who play the game its sort of a waste of time, way too many dumb moves Ransage.

We enjoy this app! HOWEVER, the AI needs to be updated. Examplewhen winning a bid, your partner(computer) should always play their best cards(Aces in other suits, etc), before giving you back the lead. In NO Trumps, you NEVER play the tops off a suit(aces)unless you can control the suit. Meaning, Dont lead with ace if you dont have king, queen or jack. Play a low card, and maybe partner has king, queen etc. Also, If we win the bid, and our partner has no more trump cards, HIS VERY NEXT play should ALWAYS be a weak card in his strong suit. This is strategy to let us know he may have an ace in that suit. We hope this makes sense, coming from someone who has been playing bid whist his whole life. Which we learned from our grandfathers generation, who played in bid whist card clubs practically, his whole life.

We just installed this app and played three games. The computer strategy complements our own. On the third game we helped our partner run a Boston on a 4-no trump.

This is the best bid whist game Ive found for iPhone so far. Gameplay is simple, doesnt take up too much space, and the rules are customizable. The only suggestion is to improve the AIs logic. Our AI partner doesnt use the best logic when playing, but its not a big issue. Still a great game.

We cant get it to play fully like the real game, even though the settings say you can. We have it set for low taking out a high, yet when you play, only a no trump takes out a high. Thats not the real rules. Also, we have it set for minimum bid 4, yet the computer keeps sliding in with 3s. No big deal, just annoying to see for a real bid player. Lol. Our final issue is the ads interrupt our music, not ok. Im ok with ads, we dont need to hear them or have them override whatever we are listening to. Other than that. Solid app. The computer makes an ok partner, not like our crew, but doesnt make dumb moves.

We set it to show the kitty if there is a trump bid. However it only shows the kitty to the declarer. Is it a problem with the iPad and iPhone? We have tried to change it in custom rules but no luck.

Sporting the kitty is not working. It does on a different device.

Your game consistently deals the best cards to our opposition.

We definitely appreciate the customization. Two improvements: 1. Would love an option to pay for the app, and not have ads. 2. We believe it was mentioned in another review, but have a condition (or option) set that if either team gets to -7, they lose as well, rather than allowing for infinite negative scores. Any plans for statistics in the works.

This game would rate a 5 if rules you want to use could be permanent. What ever changes you make never update.

Love this game. It allows for jokers, kitty and choice of rules we are accustomed to playing by. No bugs in the app. The best bid whist available.

The deal usually favors the AI. Question whether it is truly random. Bidding is very aggressive. No back door loss so you can go indefinitely negative.

The advertisement forces you to play the game and then it will not give you an exit. It causes us to have to exit the game that is not cool LOL any assistance in correct the issue.

We have played some others but, the AI partner doesnt respond to well on plays done by us. This one seems to pickup on hints given by our play. If we dont have the best card we will send a card out for our partner to play its best, like a Joker or ace. Other games have the partner hold it. Good game, so far.

This game is alot of fun. Im surprised more people havent downloaded this yet. Alot of options are provided to customize your game to the various rules/styles of playing Bid Whist! The NeuralPlay customer team was very helpful and wasted no time helping to clarify our issues with implementing our choice rules. Now that Ive successfully changed the game to our liking, we find ourselves playing during any free moment we get! Since Spades is so redundant, its nice to finally have a good whist app.
