Play the most exciting moment of baseball in this fast-paced dice and card game!
It’s a beautiful day here at the ballpark, and this game has been a squeaker! Everyone expected the league leaders to roll into town and easily defeat the home team. But the scrappy upstarts have played the game of their lives and managed to keep the score tied right until the end. Their fatigue is showing and now it’s their last chance. If the home team batters don’t score a run now, the visitors will be sure to win the game in extra innings. It all comes down to the Bottom of the 9th!
Will you lead the underdogs to victory? Or will you defend the league leaders’ unbroken winning streak?
Bottom of the 9th is a strategic 2-player baseball game played with cards and dice. This faithful adaptation brings the fast-paced fun of the tabletop game to your iPhone and iPad! Choose your lineup from a pool of players with different strengths and abilities, outsmart your opponent in the stare-down, then roll the dice to trigger the action.
Bottom of the 9th offers many ways to play:
- Compete in single player against a computer opponent (3 levels of difficulty)
- Take on the Manager’s Challenge 6-game solo campaign mode
- Pass and play on your device with a friend
- Challenge a friend to play online
- Find a worthy opponent in a ranked online match
- Organize a casual online exhibition game
The powerhouse visitors have six dynamite pitchers to choose from, including:
- Wake Louder throws a nasty knuckleball that can get a lost ball just into the edge of the strike zone.
- Southpaw Straw is a talented lefty pitcher with one dangerously effective (and illegal) spitball.
- Hurricane Patriss is a top notch reliever, and the only thing more hypnotic than his curveball is his voice.
Don’t count out the home team! They have a dozen batters, each with their own special powers, including:
- Mully Nomah can be devastating against the pitching team when runners are in scoring position. He can clobber a pitch and get those base runners home!
- Kerry Rumble has power behind her swing. She has the ability to crush the ball hard, at the cost of hitting lots of fouls. She just can’t resist taking a swing!
- K.C. Petty is truly a powerhouse when the chips are down. The more strikes he gets, the bigger he swings.
- Hannah Cait may look innocent, but when she’s in the zone she calls all the shots! This rookie’s level of control over her swing is the envy of many a veteran.
Both teams have access to two support characters who provide special abilities to one or both teams:
- Dice Dixon has no problem taking chances coming out from the dugout, benching batters and challenging umps!
- Doc Mullins is always looking after the health of the team, whether that means a more rested pitcher or more energized batters!
The Manager’s Challenge solo campaign mode puts you right in the dugout as a team manager. Can you lead your team to the playoffs in a 6-game homestand?
- Play six game solo campaigns as the home team against a revolving cast of pitchers.
- Compete in nine different game situations, including multiple inning games.
- Each campaign game is played using one of six effect cards that change the feel of the game.
- The Manager’s Challenge can be played in Classic Mode (using a Pitcher’s Deck of stare-down cards) or against any level of CPU opponent.
- Four increasing levels of difficulty will put your management and batting skills to the test!
- Earn up to 11 achievements and compete with others on 8 leaderboards for the solo campaign mode.

You guys have hit a grand slam with this game!!! Well done! ___ App does not resolve die rolls during Run phase. The organ music is annoying and cannot be separated from the other audio. Intermittently will not allow submitting line up. ___ If youre a fan of this board game you really enjoy this app it captures all of the fun in a convenient on the go version. To the developers, it would be nice if there was an easy way to pull up the contact sheet while in game for reference. ___ Clever and fun little strategy game. Cute graphics, sounds, and songs. Well worth $0.99. ___ We just got this game the day before yesterday, and we love it. We've played countless games, and this game is so good that its difficult to put our iPad down. We would have given the app five stars but for a couple things. Firstly, expansions. We have the base game AND the big league support expansion. This game doesnt have any expansions. Secondly, theres no option to play a full game so to speak. In every game, one player has to be the batter and one player has to be the pitcher. We usually play full innings, not just the bottom. It helps that we have an expansion. PLEASE FIX BOTH, BUT ESPECIALLY THE EXPANSIONS. ___ We think an equal strike six should at least be a contact hit. The campaign is very defense favored as far as what you can hit. So basically if they roll a s 6 it only matters if you have two strikes otherwise just take the strike and don't bother rolling. Other than that pretty fun, some more players with different stats and traits would be fun. ___ Love the campaign mode of this game. Trying to strategically wear down the pitcher to increase your odds of getting a hit or a walk is a blast. However, once you get a hit, its basically just a toss of a coin as to whether or not youre safe. Im sure its random, but the computer sometimes goes on a tear and throws you out numerous times in a row (I counted it to 14 once). This is just annoying... It seems better to get a walk than to actually hit the ball. ___ A big part of this game is being the first to roll a five or six. However, when you roll a five or six after someones made contact, the game doesnt register it. Then you lose. Rinse, repeat. We took video of the problem, sent it to tech support, never even got so much as a response acknowledging they were looking into it. Aside from being broken at one of the games core mechanisms, its a really well done app. If they fix this issue, its an easy 5-stars. Until they do, its basically unplayable. ___ Please make them random. We almost always lose due to dice rolls alone. Im definitely not griping. Im the second person to say this on here. Fix and we will give 5 stars right away! ___ This game is better than most dice games. The mechanisms are quite deep and bad rolls are seemingly mitigated through use of various powers and abilities. Your opponent has an arsenal of abilities of abilities as well. All these abilities give the illusion of luck mitigation but actually creates an overly complex interaction that is actually worse than the simple roll of a dice. Also, there is a bias of RNG towards your AI opponent. ___ Imagine this. Your playing this game. Guess each pitch right. Get a contact swing. But they get a 5 or 6 first roll... Now imagine that happening 7 times in a row. Dont waste your time in a rigged game. Play something that is actually rewarding. ___ When playing manager mode, the CPU rolls S-6 (which is an automatic strike) 92% of the time. This is statically impossible. With two 6 sided dice to roll S-6 seven times in a row. Each time the batter guesses pitches and gains bonus effects. The game throws S-6 or B-6 (automatic Ball) therefore negating you bonus effects. Its infuriating when playing against the computer. If you do get the chance to crush it the CPU rolls a 6 to steal your home run. We love the board game but the computer version is definitely skewed against the player. ___ We've played about 20 of games of this game, and while the concept and game mechanics are great, we must be either the unluckiest guy ever, or the dice are very rigged. About 1/5 of our hits land us on base- statistically they should be 50%. When we predict the pitch its always a ball, when we dont its a strike that gets modified to a 6. Ill reroll to match or beat a 3 three times and fail often. Its just frustrating to make all the right in game decisions and lose repetitively to being incredibly unlucky. Im sorry we purchased this game and would not recommend it until we get a dice coding fix. ___ If it was free, it would be okay, but it isnt worth $s. ___ This is quite addictive, as the games can be short. Our only complaint is that you soon start longing for new players or even a full 9 inning game. We hope that the developers soon incorporate expansion packs! ___ The game plays fine. No issues. Cant find a single online player to play against... ___ The distribution of random die rolls just seems so skewed its not believable. Over a large sample, the computer always seems to roll low on balls and high on strikes. Also, we had 19 contact runners thrown out in a row... Sheesh. ___ Do you enjoy watching paint dry? This game may be too spicy for you. What a truly boring endeavor. Since it somehow costs $5, we have really tried to put extra effort into enjoying this game, but we simply cant. Its the opposite of fun. The game play is excruciatingly slow. If you actually manage to put a ball in play, then you seem to have to keep rolling until you get thrown out. Nothing about this game is well done. There are blobs that are meant to be players. We assume thats a reference to whatever horrible board game this is based on. We want our money back. We promise to spend it on something more exciting, like watching grass grow or perhaps a glacier race. ___ So not fun. Watch as it guesses your pitch 15 times in a row and rolls a 1 every single time it needs to. Lame. ___ We want to amend our original review which is below. Playing campaign mode is so different and so much more fun than the solo games against the AI. Its opened up a whole new world for us and we cannot get enough. (Original review) Its a fun game, certainly original and so amazingly well done but (and this is a big but) the dice rolls feel far from random. In fact, most times we can guess what the roll is going to be depending on each situation. Not saying the computer is cheating, but after a dozen games there is definitely a pattern. ___ This COULD be a great 2p game if it wasn't for the server error we keep seeing. And, no one seems interested in 2p games as we can never find an opponent. We bet if they fixed the 2p option, this game would take off!!! ___ Great implementation of the board game! Love playing this! And the online multiplayer works really well! ___ We love the music and the "paper" scorecard at the end of the game. We would love a solo mode like the physical games has. Or a way to play a series under different starting conditions. Hopefully, the expansions will be added in the future. ___ This is a very fun board game whether u like baseball or not! Does need more modes as others have suggested. Not sure what's going on for online play because can't find anyone to play either in casual or ranked. This seems like super fun 2 player games. ___ Update: Unfortunately two ranked games we have played have ended because of "server error." Hopefully this gets fixed with a patch. Great adaptation! Excellent features right out of the box. Unique mechanics, good tutorial, many modes to play. Please add a timer for async play. Maybe after the timer runs out then the players turn ends. ___ Enjoy opportunity to play on iPad. Game is a fun and engaging way to play quick baseball. Would like to eventually see some kind of similar take on two minute drill football strategy in future.
