Updated on 16th March 2022
This update includes a number of bug fixes, notably:
- Damage to Faultless is now correctly calculated when there are multiple increases and reductions.
- If a target is hit by multiple instances of damage from a single effect and they switch cards (e.g. Sky-Scraper or OblivAeon), the switched in card is no longer damaged again.
- Fixed a problem where OblivAeon mode could get stuck in certain cases with The Sentinels.
- Lead from the Front now properly redirects damage dealt by Heroic Infinitor (who is a villain card, but a hero target).
- Rudder in the Timestream no longer gets stuck with empty discard piles when Isolated Hero is in play.
- Destroying projections while Violent Nightmares is in play no longer causes them to be removed from under The Dreamer.
- If both damages from Rend Minds & Souls are redirected to a single character, they only have to destroy one card.
- Fixed a problem where Dark Watch NightMist’s 3rd incapacitated ability did not always work with mission rewards.
- Improved decision prompts for Craft Services Table and other cards with The Sentinels.
- Spite now properly hits Sky-Scraper from PL626 Compound Xi if she switches character cards during the power use.
- When Vitalized Thorns is revealed from the environment deck and played, it counts as being played from the environment deck.
- Targets moved under Resurrection Ritual while dealing damage will no longer continue dealing damage.
- Grasping Shadow Cloth no longer tells you what the top card of the Scion deck is if it prevents a card being played from there.
- If OblivAeon changes pages during its end of turn damage, it will not continue performing any actions from the previous page.
- Incapacitated abilities now work properly with repeated decisions.
- Fixed a problem where the game could get stuck if you destroy Spite: Agent of Gloom on challenge mode during his card play phase.
- Paradoja Figurehead can now be moved to play areas where there is a face-down copy (or a copy underneath another card).
- Fixed a problem interaction with Maze of Mirrors and Global Devastation that could allow OblivAeon to damage itself.
Sentinels of the Multiverse Reviews
This game is the most robust, non p2win card game period (when the servers are working). It is totally unique, you can set up your own difficulty because you can face different villains with different combinations of heros, environments, synergies, Ect Ect. The funniest multiplayer we’ve ever had other than the cat pizza card game (totally different genres) anyways, buy this game!
Great port. We prefer it over the tabletop game now.
We bought all expansions on this game and cant use any of our expansion characters when playing with our wife. Also the game kicks her out when we are on the same wifi network… We have never been more disappointed with a game before. DONT SPEND MONEY ON THIS!!
This is the one game that we keep coming back to since it was released. Thank you for all your hard work .
In spite of all the fixed bug promises, this game is glitchier than ever. The newest bug? Opening a fresh multiplayer lobby and having none of the DLC available. Am we supposed to redownload both full seasons every time we want to play? Come on. CONSTANT UNFIXED server issues aside, at least before the latest update we were able to access all our content whenever we opened the app.
Well done, AAA app. Solo play, multiplayer, challenges, achievements. And so many heroes, villains and environments to choose from. Great interface on the iPhone.
Surprised we binge played this so much when we first got it. Didnt love original card game but for 99 cents had to give it a try. It keeps track of things we tend to forget round-to-round like bonuses and… Other things. Very fun! Only complaint is text is hard to read on our iphoneX especially on villain cards. Would be nice if there was a way to blow it up to read. Have actually taken screenshots and zoomed in that way to read some villain text. Small suggestion: Defeating the villain feels like such an accomplishment sometimes, we wish there was some simple end of game victory animation/dialogue similar to what starts off the game. A little something for the job well-done. Otherwise, love it!!!
5 star game and 5 star adaptation of the physical game – absolutely LOVE the weekly challenges and all the DLC. EXCEPT lately we cant make it through a whole game without the app crashing half a dozen times. Once the crashing is fixed, 5 stars from us.
Absolutely fantastic. With all the variables brought on by different heroes, villains, and environments, the amount of unique combinations of play styles is colossal. There are a few things that could be better, however. The app does occasionally crash, and though it always saves your progress, its still pretty annoying when it happens. We would also like it if we could somehow save which expansions we’ve already purchased online so that we wont have to buy them all over again if we ever switch to the Steam version.
We dont know what is happening, when we had an iPhone 7 we never felt like this. But now that we have an iPhone XR, almost half the games we try or buy the type is too impossibly small to read. This screen is huge, but you cram 5pt high type into tiny little boxes. Are you trying to damage our eyesight on purpose? It is impossible to enjoy a comic format game if we cant read anything!!!!!! Design ON A DEVICE not on a monitor. This is UI design 101!
SotM is a superb translation of the card game, replicating the physical game experience near perfectly. The artwork is amazing. This app replaces the physical game for us in all ways. So why do we give it one star? The game crashes more than a bind person going the wrong way on the interstate. Sure, its annoying, but as a person who has bought both Season 1 and 2 with all expansions, we should expect a game thats stable. So long as this game crashes minimally 4 times per game, it can only get one star till its stability is fixed.
Cool heroes and diabolical villains each with distinctive play styles, intriguing environments that range from the comical (Studios) to the malevolent (Rook City), endless combinations of battles AND all offline?? Yes please!
Issue – app now backs out to main menu every time we move out of it. Used to stay in the active game. This becomes annoying and almost makes us feel like we can only play when we can devote our full time to a game. Starts to feel like we are spending more time loading in each time then playing. Love the app otherwise! Great game. Due to all the stuff you have to try to keep track of, we much prefer playing this game digitally than the actual physical version. Not many games we would say that about.
Played a few games and could barely win the tutorial. Second game we got slaughtered. Its fun, but the games are 30+ minutes and very frustrating. We have deleted it. Its just not for us.
This would be a great app, but it wont d/l the season packs. Its stuck at 0%. In the past this was a 5 star app/game.
This is one of the most expensive games we’ve paid for, yet no full screen support for current devices?
Love the game, play it on our computer through Steam all the time. Wish there was a way to make our purchases through the steam account work for this app. We purchased it without looking at how little was in the base back compared to everything we bought on steam. Just an idea to get some more people to enjoy the game on this platform.
This could easily be a 5 star game but because of the bugs we can only give it a 2. Specifically, we spent 7.99 for the expansion Villains of the Multiverse and it never downloaded (stopped at 80%). Tech support responded fast which was great unfortunately they only gave us obvious suggestions have enough space? (8 GB) strong internet signal? (very) possible delayed downloading (waiting for hours) we want a refund so we can buy a SOTU that works.
In current patch, Stuntmans incapacitated powers are not functioning.
We like the game and the app itself works great with only one glitch that we have experienced and it was something we could fix without shutting down. If you are experienced with this game it removes the hassle of the physical game, and handles all of the numbers for you. This is probably the best tool for teaching the younglings the game as well. If you are new to the game it has a pretty good tutorial that explains how to play well. Now, the reason it got 4 stars instead of 5. The season pass. It is not this great money saver, and the fact they keep referring to it as such is annoying. We did the math and if you want everything in the first season pass then by purchasing said pass you will save a dollar….. Thats it….. 1 dollar….. On the other hand if one of the 3 mini packs does not look interesting buy everything else expect that one and you will save one dollar by NOT buying the season pass….. The choice is yours.
We recently bought the vengeance expansion but every single time a try download the files it crashes. We even tried eliminating the game and downloading it again but it still doesnt work.
Sentinels of the Multiverse is one of our favorite board/card games out there, and we love this digital version. At least one reviewer has complained about the price of the app, but Im glad the developers have the conviction to ask a fair price. The base game allows lots of replayability, and the expansions allow for far more variations on the game than we could ever have time to play. We own the Season 1 expansion and intend to buy Season 2, but we still have lots of variants to unlock from Season 1, so Im not rushing. We also have and love the analog version of the game, but we think we prefer playing the digital version, which has certainly made us understand the game better. One thing we do wish the developers could somehow add, to assist them in the claim that this version is the ultimate rules lawyer, is a kind of sandbox mode. Id like to be able to set up a situation in the game put certain heroes and villains into play with particular cards active to see how it plays out and whether cards will affect each other as we believe they should. That would be handy.
We love this game, it would be really cool if those weekly one shots actually let players who unlock em read the tale. Doesnt have to be long.
Edit: this has been fixed! Thanks dev team. Would really enjoy this game if we could actually continue a game after suspending it… Only seems to work if the app hasn’t gone into the background.
It’s an excellent app as far as it goes. But it’s insanely overpriced, because you only get like four or five villains, four or five environments, and 8 heroes to work with. That’s not a lot to work with, especially considering the apps base price. We got this app when it was on sale for 99 cents…. It’s barely worth that much. Imho this app is NOT worth the full price of 6.99 or whatever it is… maybe if they at least included season one expansion pack with it but as is this app is not worth full price.
Sentinels of the Multiverse is one of our favorite card games ever. This app could be a four star, pushing five star. But it’s insanely prone to crashing on previous generation iPads. Once per game is a minimum, and we are not exaggerating. How can we rate it higher when we can never finish a game without reloading after a crash?
Sentinels of the Multiverse was the board game that got us into hobby gaming. Now that we have a young child at home, we find it harder and harder to have the time to set up and play the physical game. However, the Sentinels app has been quite an addition to our digital library. We can speed through a game in our spare time, and come back to the same setup if we dont have time to finish it in one play session. The base game has some of our favorite characters in the whole game, and the community for this game in friendly, and helpful in finding out the secrets to beating some of the harder villains, as well the multitudes of variants that are available. Also, the developer is faithful in catching bugs and updating everything, to make the game functional on phones to tablets, even allowing players with different content to still join games and determine together what content to play. We’ve bought all of the additional content and plan on supporting this developer and game well into the future. Do yourself a favor and grab this game as soon as you can.
This is one of our favorite iOS games. We love the super hero theme. Each hero and villain has their own unique deck. Thousands of different matchups.
The game is fun to play. Multiplayer is really well done. The only complaint we have is the weekly one shots. The decks are predetermined for these so if you can’t beat it the first time your strategy becomes memorizing what gets played and when so you can beat it. The lack of randomness to it is kind of a let down.
The game is great in that it takes away a lot of the calculations of the card game. It is a really fun game and we highly recommend it. Please note that the "Digital foil hero collectors pack" is advertised (from their page) as "new artwork with ANIMATED foil digital effects" however there is no animation at all. If you move your phone around you will get a slight different hue as if you were holding a real foil card but there most definitely are NO animations. These are just 2d alternate artworks with a slight color hue change. Outside of that, it is still a great game and very fun.
First off this game is fan-freaking-tastic, honestly is reasonably priced for all the DLCs and stuff, TONS of replay value. Anywho theres only one thing devs we find imperfect with the app, and that is we cant buy mini-pack 4 (has chokepoint) we dont buy the season passes for all the content at once, we buy the expansions one at a time as we the get the money for them, and well by now we have all the expansions, except for mini-pack 4, and theres no option for us to buy it like there is for the other mini-pack expansions. We would really like to not have to buy season pass 2 for it (or if we have to at least give us some sort of discount since we already purchased the other expansions in season 2) anywho, wasnt sure if you devs were aware of that tiny little flaw in your DLCs there or not, regardless the game is perfect, Its our absolute favourite game on our phone we play.
We love this game! We bought both season passes but now it has been over 11 months since the last content release and there is no mention of any of the rest of the expansions being released. We feel like we were scammed and would not have bought the season 2 pass if we knew it would take them at least 12 months (possibly longer) to release the next part of the season 2 expansions let alone the next two. Villains released June of 2017 and it is now July 2018 with still no new expansions. We’re worried it will be 2020 before we get what we paid for, IF we get what we paid for at all. So all in all it gets 1 star for poor customer service by not ever mentioning when the next product is coming out and taking money and not providing the product promised. Also there was a kickstarter project set up specifically for the season 2 expansions. So why is it when people fund the product and buy the season pass that there is no season pass products?
We came upon this by chance, looking for TCG games, and we decided to try it on a whim. It was love at first sight! As a Magic: The Gathering player, this was easy to pick up and learn. But thats just scratching the surface. Everything about this is amazing! We love the comic book atmosphere, the heroes, the villains, everything. Love the lore associated with this as well, and we cant wait to see more updates and new characters.
For those who are new to the game think of Sentinels of the multiverse as a card game where DC and Marvel characters and storylines are combined. Many of the characters and stories will immediately remind you of someone or something from those two companies. This is not to say that this game is some cheap imitation. Like a parent and child though they are traits that can be seen in both this game also has its own heart and soul! Now, for those of you who might be familiar with the game we use to own the physical boardgame and the shattered timeline expansion. The card game was fun but keeping track of the modifiers was a chore. Sometimes we would forget to factor in an effect from the villain or enemy card and we would have to go back an undo damage or add damage or apply some specific effect. The app is the preferred version that we play now since this fiddly element is completely automated. This game is really something special and the developers are quick to fix issues and provide new content. This is a game that has legs and you will come back to it in the long run. For the great support and fun experience the cost of admission is well worth it! Again to the developers and producers thank you once again for this gaming gem!
We enjoy playing the base game, however for an iOS game the expansions should only cost two dollars apiece at most for what they give.
We love this game! It is by far our favorite game on the iPhone, as well as our favorite ever card game. There is amazing depth to this game. Nearly endless possibilities when it comes to villain and hero matchups. If that wasn’t enough, there is a weekly "one shot," kind of like in the comics, it is a carefully crafted game challenge of a custom heroes team versus a villain, with a backstory. When you win you get to "bag" the cover of the challenge as a keepsake. There are different conditions ranging from "mint" to "good" based on how many attempts it takes you to beat the challenge. Brilliant. However, with the update we are unable to update Season Pass 1. It wants us to repurchase it when we attempt to download. When we attempt to restore purchases it is stuck on "Waiting for confirmation…" Please fix this so we can return to playing this amazing game!
After playing a game like Hearthstone, this game seems very clunky and convoluted. Enemy’s hand and your hand are on separate screens. Strategy wasn’t very apparent. Seems like you just picked cards to reduce damage or inflict damage. Maybe we didn’t give it a chance but we were bored during the tutorial and quit.
This is a faithful recreation of the actual card game, but for significantly less money. As a word of warning, the DLC is pricey. It’s way cheaper than buying all the same actual card expansions, but some will consider it expensive for App DLC, and you kind of need it to really get the full experience. That being said, the game is still a lot of fun, and is definitely worth it.
This game is well written. The play is enjoyable. It takes a lot of thinking and the variety of possibilities is amazing. We are amazed that they could accomplish so many card interactions with so few bugs. If you ever find one, they are responsive and will likely send you emails when the fix is released. The whole thing was written to stay true to the heart of the card game and not to nickel and dime you. It can crash at times but rarely looses your spot. Trust us, we have put many, many hours on this game. The multiplayer works but we usually play on the bus and therefore don’t use it much.
Per the maker, there is an issue with version 2.5. Do noy update and remove autoupdate otherwise you wont be able to restore prior purchases.
Bought season 1. It took our money but does not download the content. When we click buy, it says we’ve already bought it and that we will get it for free, however it does not download. Hitting restore purchase reverts it to an "unsought" screen.
The app only contains the base set, you have to spend way more money to have the expansions! That’s ridiculous! Do not buy, stay away!
App description states there is a pass and play feature, which is nonexistent, only online multiplayer. We bought it so we could play with our kids. Guess not. Also, $50 for both season passes? What?! For an iOS game? And a battery hog. A lot of reasons to avoid this one.
Great app based on a great game. You should get the game too! :) EDIT: After playing more, we just get a bit frustrated by the glitches that causes it to shut down occasionally.
Its now using 1.8gig of space and every time we open the app, it uses up our space until it says we have no space left and closes down. When we check our usage in settings, all our space has been used up.
This game definitely speeds things up from the card game variant in real life. Not that we have played that but we do have a similar game. We like how some of the heroes are spoofs of Marvel/DC heroes but still retain originality. The game can be hard but with the right strategy and a bit of luck you can win. One thing we would like to suggest is that you make a bluetooth multiplayer mode. We cannot find Game Center on our new iPhone and we think they removed it. A pass the phone multiplayer mode would also be good to give others a taste of the game, but you don’t have to do that one. We are glad you made this and keep the updates comming.
The different heroes and villains are so clever, the implementation is so good, and the gameplay is as simple or complex as you like. The weekly one shots from the publisher add a recurring challenge. The best game we have played on any iOS device.
