User Reviews on Cadenza: Music, Betrayal, and Death – A Hidden Object Detective Adventure

Looking for more information? Read a comprehensive review of Cadenza: Music, Betrayal, and Death – A Hidden Object Detective Adventure below:

Game is very long. Bonus is short, but length of main game makes up for it. Hogs are different than usual, which is a nice change. Mini games aren’t very difficult. They sometimes require a little thought, but the skip button charges quickly as does the hint button. Graphics aren’t great, but good. Sound is really good. A tip for you is when you are on the "Marti Gras" street, you need to drag the screen with your finger left and right. Most people would know this, but we didn’t at first…. Have fun, we did!

Didn’t fall in love at first but once we hit the hang of it, we couldn’t put it down. From one Big Fish Game junkie to another, ended up being one of our faves by far.

Best storyline out of the cadenza series.

We agree with other reviews… Nice to play a game without a totally macabre theme. The music was really good. The artwork was great. The game had no glitches. Nice length of play too.

This one was so awesome!!! If it wasn’t for his brother saving him they both would’ve been in jail Sequel! Sequel! Go ahead and do it!

So many HOs and puzzles! We have never seen so many in this kind of game. Slightly less difficult over time, but nicely done. Great value, it went on for a long time. Sweet game. Recommended.

Love the music, varied HOS, the setting…. We just started this game but so far it’s kept our attention and we like!!!

Happy to update our review to 5 stars. For some reason, the Skip Puzzle option didn’t work on our game. While the puzzles are creative and clever, some of them are so small that they are impossible to see. Those we prefer to skip. Now we can. Really good game!

We have played a ton of Big Fish games, and this series is one of our favorites! Great graphics and storyline.

Awesome game. Great story line.

What a refreshing game experience. We love the fact that they tapped into the Jazz culture of New Orleans and did a good job. Great Storyline and thoughtful HOSs and Mini games. Thanks for the ethnic diversity in this game. Loved it!

As another person said, it is great to play a game without magic, fairies and the like. We just started, but this looks like a true mystery and we love it! It’s also very challenging and we’re playing on the easiest level. This will be one to play again on higher levels. We can’t wait. Thanks Big Fish for offering us so many gaming options.

We debated how to rate this. Do we rate Big Fish’s sloppiness and bugginess that would have made any other game unplayable? Do we allow a groundbreaking game to be punished for Big Fish’s sloppiness. We’re rating Mad Head’s creativity. This is without a doubt one of the most innovative games we ever played. It’s a new favorite. We found the story compelling and could not put the game down. We cared about the characters. The artwork was as beautiful as any Artifex Mundi game, and the big band jazz influenced music and singing were perfect. The voice over actors could actually act! The morphing objects are in the HO scenes, and the HO scenes play differently than any HOG we’ve ever played. They were more like puzzles and the artwork and themes and "hook" changed every time. Brilliant! If you read Big Fish’s forums, many posters noted that the developer prepared patches for the bugs. Big Fish refused to update the game. Mad Head is aware of the bugs and has already completed the patched. Big Fish is too lazy to bother updating the game. A professional game reviewer called this game ground breaking and they were not kidding. While the main elements seem like the same tired fare Big Fish has been lazily churning out with angry spirits exacting revenge through magical music with culprits you can guess miles away, that is not what’s going on here. To say more would spoil the game. We got the premise wrong. We got the suspect wrong. We got pretty much everything wrong. We were supposed to get the whole thing wrong! Well done, Mad Head! Also nice was the change of theme. You’re not playing a Caucasian princess in middle ages fairy tale land. You are playing a young African-American woman in 1940’s New Orleans. Bravo! You have to Nancy Drew your way through what seems like an X-File. No spoilers. Also, no spiders or snakes. Thank you, Mad Head. Ah but the bad. Big Fish’s horrid useless navigator app crashes the game every time you open it. The note collectible markers disappear during the third chapter, and randomly reappear near the end. Major GAME ENDING BUGthere is a long puzzle after you pay where you need to locate an apartment. You go up and down 4 floors checking names, switching light bulbs, and picking a lock. It’s fun! But once you START this puzzle DO NOT LEAVE! Once you successfully find Frankie’s apartment on the third floorAFTER PICKING THE LOCK GO STRAIGHT INSIDE. DO NOT TURN BACK. We backed out to see if there were any hidden note collectibles we missed only to get trapped in the hallway with the message "I found the apartment. We don’t need to go back up". We wound up at the entrance unable to go upstairs. No matter what we tried, we were stuck on the first floor and had to start the whole game over from the beginning. If we weren’t enjoying the music, we would have filled a one star review and applied for a refund. Once you pick the lock, go in and don’t leave until there is absolutely nothing left to do in the room and you MUST go to the Mardi Gras festival. So Mad Head Games story, characters, actors, singers, composer, artists and team get a 5 star review. Big Fish, this was sloppiness worthy of one star. Get your act together. It’s 2015. You aren’t a Big Fish in iPhone games any more. Mad Head would be wise to look at working with G5. Bug free, this game is worth $5. If Big Fish fixes the bugs, this game has the potential to be one of the best iPhone games around. If you play these types of games on your computer, buy the bug-free version directly from the developer. If you only play games on your iPhone, be aware of the Bug in the FIND THE APARTMENT PUZZLE. GO STRAIGHT INTO THE APARTMENT AFTER PICKING THE LOCK.

We have been a fan for five years and we have to say this kind of game really tingles our brain.

What an absolutely fantastic storyline. So much fun and history.

Love the bonus content, especially the ability to go back through the scenes to replay, and find the hidden notes. Great storyline.

We never rate stuff; we don’t know why, probably because it’s a "p-i-t-a" to type on an iPhone. Anyway we loved this game. Great graphics and interesting story line. The fluffy-fairy-kingdoms-hogwarts-spells story lines get old after awhile (I kinda hope the Big people at Big Fish read that last line). Bottom line-good story line, really good graphics.

We had no problems with this game. Fresh new storyline, great graphics. Good map, hint recharges quickly.

We just watch the walk through of it and it was fantastic.

We have never given 5 stars before! We play these games all the time and cannot say we’ve ever enjoyed a game more. Great music, good graphics, well planned story, challenging yet not a game that makes you wanna pull your hair out by the root, and the extras were outstanding! Very nice!

Im playing on iPhone & as much as I’d LOVE to be playing on a tablet -its no smaller/harder to see things than any other game! Im actually playing on an iPhone 4 & every time we open the game it reminds us it’s better played on 4s or higher & we didn’t have any issues beyond some minor annoyances/slow loading. *Because we ADORE New Orleans we were going to play, & unless it was horrible, purchase the game. So we were THRILLED with how fantastic this game really is! *The New Orleans themed storyline combined with clever new game play -not just the puzzles & hidden object scenes which are awesome, the game overall is just different! Im loving it! The music is spot on, the storyline was great & had us stumped, even the extras were fun! KEEP IT UP MAD HEAD, this was the first game in a LONG TIME we couldn’t put down -I wish we could’ve played even longer!

We love New Orleans, the jazz, the atmosphere and the joy of Bourbon Street. This game captured the flavor and had a variety of mini games that were quite different than the usual. The storyline was interesting and kept us involved. We would definitely love a sequel,

We like the story line. The directions to open the door just mean to hit the left or right door that many times.

It was nice Jazz music along with interesting challenges.

The game was entertaining enough, we suppose. But it was way too small to see on an iPhone. Also, the mini-games alternated between way too easy, and downright tedious. As a former resident of the Crescent City, it would have been nice to see more effort put into the geography of the place. The maps in the game are 100% wrong and/ or made-up. Other than that, the game is an acceptable way to pass time.

We enjoy it, however we can’t do most of the bonus content because we have to find collectibles, notes, and morphing objects. When we consulted the guide the collectibles weren’t where they were supposed to be.

We didn’t buy the game because we can’t solve the problem which is when the woman said left left right left right we go to the game guide and the same they didn’t show us how to solve it they were only repeat what the woman said even the picture didn’t show what to do.. Is there Anybody help us? .. .

Didnt really find any glitches until the very end but after completing the game and finding all 40 of the bonus items the bonus content did not unlock as it was supposed to which is frustrating after all that work. It is very small to be played on iPhone even for us, a 22 year old with perfect vision, but we didnt have to skip any mini-games or puzzles and just had to go back to find hidden music notes we missed the first time (sadly for no reason /: ). Would have been a great game otherwise.

We also got stuck at the double doors, so we followed the walk through. There must be a bug in the game because it did not work. We will not purchase the game.

Followers, Poorly designed game that is irritating to play. Voicing, background music, story flow and characterization are terrible. Glitches in Hidden Object scenes, along with map for game being of no help. Definitely not a game worth purchasing, although if one does enjoy jazz music, you might be able to put up with the blatant lack of quality control and poor game design. Thank you for your continued support. Happy St. Patrick’s Day! ~Kamen Rider.

There are glitches in the game that prevent you from moving on. For example, there was a dictation machine that we were supposed to use on a map and when trying to do the puzzle for it, the machine disappeared and needed to start the whole game over to avoid the glitch. Such a waste of money. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

This game looked amazing & right up our alley. Before downloading any game we make sure it can be played on our iPhone 4. After reading that this game CAN be played on iPhone 4, we downloaded it. Excited to play the game we open it only to read that the game should be played on iPhone 4s & up. Really? Thanks for dangling that carrot..
