Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead 0.F Reviews

Absolutely love this. It got us into the game and we’ve been playing it so much since our computer doesnt work rn, this is perfect for us. You said that 0.G was coming this April, but its now May and im super excited for it. Thanks!

We recommend this to everyone with The MurderUnicorns tutorials on YouTube. Quick q for the dev tho, do you plan on updating to .G?

The port is around about perfect, and the dev is chill. We do have a question though: given the release of a stable version later than the current one, should we continue playing our current character or wait til the update (I havent made all that much progress with this character yet)?

When you play the game for a while on PC, you want to get it on mobile, right? That was our thought. This developer ported the game and made it cost money for the same product. Okay then. We paid the money and got what we paid for! The game is mostly untouched and decently optimized for mobile (not as much as the official version though.) and surprisingly even moddable through the files despite Apples restrictions. Then things went downhill. One day we opened the app and it had started on some odd menu, and then things went south. J started the game and lo and behold, our menu was frozen! We couldnt access our save files through the game so we had to pick through the files to get our saves backed up. When we re-opened the app, brushing it off as a small bug (not a fresh install), it didnt display anything at all! We honestly believe that this is just a poorly emulated version (NOT EVEN A PROPER PORT) of a game that already HAS a mobile port to go off of.

This is a great port for a great game and Im really glad we can play it on the go however we have not been able to get the graphical Overmap to work and its really time consuming to read the ASCII Overmap.

This game is a ton of fun and the port is pretty well done, but theres a major bug that locks you into the dialog screen. Currently there seems to be no way to exit out of dialog, even after pressing escape. Hopefully there will be a fix soon!

We cant even get off the start screen the touchpad controls they have made will not respond Im on an iPad Air 2 we were really looking forward to playing cataclysm how unfortunate.

IpadOn our m1ipadpro, when we press the esc, enter or arrow keys once, we often press twice in the game. The keyboard is Logitech k380.

We had a problem with the screen resolution and it seems to be fixed! Thank you!

Game runs great on our iPhone 11. Only got one issue, when we change the resolution, if we swipe up the keyboard, the resolution will reset, in the setting menu our changes will still appear but are not applied until we make a change and that lasts until we swipe up the keyboard again. Update: Following devs instructions, now we have no issues with the game. Excellent port!

Is there a way to change the font on IOS?

Slide up to open the keyboard then the resolution is reseted.

It is unusable on iPad without a keyboard. Basic menu navigation is impossible and if you get to the load/save screen, there is no way to back out to the main menus. This is not at all designed for iOS.

Playing this game on iPhone is the first and only way we have ever played this game and we have put in hundreds of hours so far. Our current game has made it past the first year. Its a great game and this port really works except for a few minor issues: Crashing: often when Im driving the game crashes. We have to manually save frequently. If there was a log generated on crash we would gladly share it for fixing. Keyboard swapping: once youve accumulated stuff you are going to be using the filter capabilities a lot. This means we use / or F and type then we need to minimize the keyboard again to see the list or hit the escape button. We also have to swap between number keyboard and text keyboard when Im doing advanced inventory management. We have two small suggestions that would help with this. The first is that Esc and tab should always be visible, right now they scroll up when we pull up the keyboard. Probably need to move them to the bottom of the screen. The second is to add a button next to the virtual arrow/keypad to toggle the keypad between numbers and arrows. This would help greatly with advanced inventory management. You need number keys to choose advanced inventory locations for both sides, but you need M and , to move all of one type of item or all items or keyboard to search for items. Its time consuming to keep swapping between different keyboard input functions for common tasks. Would still like to be able to create custom buttons for common functions like find / to reduce keyboard mode switching, but these items above would go a long way in improving the user experience. Again an excellent port!

Once running it is great, but it rarely loads properly: just open to a black screen with the overlay in place. Its a shame because it is a great once it starts and the overlay is fantastic, but it also works well with the magic keyboard. We need to uninstall and reinstall every time.

We hear this is a great port so we hate to lower the rating, but we think you should make it more clear this wont work on iphone SE, as we saw you mentioned it isnt supported deep in reviews for previous 0.E version. Upon starting the screen is just black except for the overlay UI which does nothing.

This is a good-faith effort to port a keyboard-focused game to iOS with or without a keyboard. It inspired us to learn the game, knowing there is a supported app. There are few deep roguelikes on the platform so its very welcome. One issue on iPhone is that vertical scrollbars (e.g. When examining an object with e or in V mode) are apparently scrolled on PC with page up and page down. Could there be buttons for those? It may be tough to get right because in e mode the text is under the d-pad and so the user may want to hide the overlay but then how will we tap new page up/down buttons that live in the overlay??

We actually have checked and it says 100 on everything as well as saying the sound pack is true Question though does having too many world mods bug out the game? And if so its probably why we get no audio.

Works in all ways as intended! A great port, there isnt much to say, it has everything you need. Edit: we were having issues with a keyboard but that was a our end issue, no complaints at all!

Great port with a active developer.

Lots of accessibility features and a decent amount of mods and tilesets. It runs without fine even with lots of entities in the world, and even has additional content built over the core CDDA. For some reason the game sound doesn’t work though, the soundpacks help a lot when it comes to immersion and it’s not there. Also for the devs, when you update the version can you please try to keep it on the same app or find a way to completely transfer settings and keybindings? It’s a drag to redo all of that because the game is unplayable without adjusting those. Don’t get us twisted though, great work! (Also if you’re reading this and have never played this game, prepare for a stupidly deep roguelike. Where even how you put your clothes on matters)

Been playing this game for years. PC broke so we’ve been impatiently waiting for this newest version to come out on IOS. If youve played this on PC youll have no problem picking up the controls and its the greatest feeling knowing we can play CDDA whenever we want on the go. Thanks again to the developer for your hard work.

We really like how this mobile port is designed, but there is one problem that we find annoying. When we restart the app, it resets the terminal width and height settings in options, meaning that we have to change them back each time we start the game. The settings seem to default back to 80×31 terminal size, which we find too small. We’ve tried manually changing the settings in options. Json but they still reset back to default. Im not sure if the app is doing this, but if it is, please make it so it doesnt reset these settings!

Gameplay is fantastic except very often when traveling the game will just flat out crash.
