Chess Tiger Pro is a Education/Board/Strategy game from Christophe THERON, first launched in 8th March 2011.
It’s rated 4+ and currently has 23,261+ ratings on the App Store.

What Makes Chess Tiger Pro Stand Out

Beginner or advanced, become a chess master, without ever being disturbed by ads.

Do you want to master the most prestigious, the classiest game ever, while having fun?

It's EASY! For starters, there are no ads to distract you. There's no account to create, and you don't even need to be connected to the Internet.

So, how does it work?

If you are a beginner, let yourself be guided by the introductory lessons included. The lessons are SHORT and EASY. Right from the start, you begin playing by moving pieces, and you learn the rules of the game while having fun.

Once you know the rules, you start playing real games! The coach shows you the moves a Grandmaster would pick. Not just one move, but THE 4 BEST MOVES.

Sounds too simple? But think about it… How did you learn to speak as a child? Did you take grammar and spelling lessons? Of course not. You listened to the adults talk and then you went for it! Because that's how you learn!

This app allows you to do just that, AND IT WORKS!

From the very first games, you start learning effortlessly. You immediately enjoy playing, and after a while you notice that the right moves come to mind naturally, as if they were obvious.

Gradually, you deactivate the suggestions and play by yourself. At the end of each game, the coach shows you the good and bad moves you've made. You can better understand what happened, and you can even try out other moves to improve.

If this sounds unbelievable, you should read the user reviews for our app. It has one of the highest satisfaction ratings on the App Store, in all countries.

FOR BEGINNERS, THIS APP…

• contains introductory chess lessons that are even suitable for children.
• shows you all the possible moves of a piece when you touch it.
• explains why certain moves are forbidden.
• can suggest 4 to 6 excellent moves at any one time. The green button lets you show or hide these suggestions.
• can tell you when you can mate your opponent, so you can look for the winning move by yourself.
• can warn you when your opponent is about to play a dangerous move.
• provides 50 trainer levels of increasing difficulty.
• knows and applies perfectly all the official rules of chess.
• analyzes your games and shows you how to improve.

FOR EXPERTS:

• Both USCF and FIDE rating scales are supported.
• Chess Tiger Pro has one of the strongest chess engines for mobile devices (3040 USCF Elo).
• On current devices, as incredible as it sounds, it plays at the world champion level.
• You can set up any position.
• You can save your games and replay them later.
• You can exchange games with your friends very easily by email.
• You can import game collections in PGN format.
• The chess engine displays its thinking, up to 20 moves ahead.
• You can analyze a game by replaying it. Chess Tiger Pro indicates bad moves by coloring them red. The 4 best moves in each position are shown in green.
• Chess Tiger Pro supports variations: you can test other moves and then return to your original game.

OTHER FEATURES INCLUDE:

• The coach can comment on the game as you play (optional).
• When the game is over, the coach can analyze it and show you how to improve.

Player Experience Highlights

Community Insight:

If only this shortage of stars would subside, perhaps we would give 8-9 stars.

Excellent for learning chess. We enjoy playing.

They offer an emmersive, learn by doing environment. They claim that in essence, no mere mortal can stand before them when their full power is unleashed. It is terrible. It is like a firehouse.

This app was a one time investment for us, and the over 5000 chess lessons/suggestions make it well worth it.

Great fun and a challenge. Great for passing time and improving your game. A great training app.

The Lesson Section is Welcome EXCEPT it has to be done linearly, NO SKIPPING ALLOWED. OPENING SCREENSHOT- Saying its inelegant is being KIND.

The app is great in its free version. Paid version provides some evaluation but no real tutoring or insight into opening, mid-game, or endgame strategies. The paid lessons are basic intro to chess stuff and virtually worthless.

We are learning a lot. We love the tips, and trying to figure out why its giving us those tips.

We won! We appreciate the applause, this game it is a good habit to stack.

We find it a good teacher, it eveluates your games and shows you where you went wrong or where you made a good move.

Endlessly Fun game. Ive gotten better. We really enjoy unraveling the puzzles that arise by perfecting an attack or a defense by rewinding to key positions and trying different lines.

This app was so helpful and literally got us to the national chess championship and it gives hints, tips, and tricks and it was the best decision ever. Got to get it.

Best way to learn the chess it teach you the move.

Great app, lots of ways to learn, and fun approach.

This is a great app for playing offline chess with zero tracking! The only improvements we would make is adding an accuracy measurement for games and a Chess960 version.

This App made us fall in love with Chess all over againbest $10.00 investment for us in this decade. If there is a better Chess App in the App Store, someone has yet to create it.

$10 seemed a little steep when we bought the app but we had a lot of fun with the free version and more with the pro. We feel a little better with chess and its fun to look back at your games and see how far youve grown.

Im enjoying the app and slowly improving. We like the analysis stuff and that we can go back moves to try a different approach. The interface is nice but wish we had more context sometimes, in particular for why a move was a bad one. Its not always apparent, for newer players, who something was or wasnt good choice and the analysis isnt always clear on the why. Oh and no ads which is great. Would buy again.

App will sometime freeze during game requiring computer to be restarted.

We've already learned a lot through the app's use of suggested moves, threats by the computer opponent, and analysis of the games we've played, and the offline capabilities of all this makes it five stars against the competition. However, the menu and interface is a bit painful by 2025 app standards. Low-resolution backgrounds, pieces, and buttons aren't as slick as the competition. We keep the piece set on Flat, board to Grey, and background to Dark, but some of those backgrounds and pieces look like they were clearly made in the late 2000s and never replaced. (we're looking at you, Metal and Wood pieces. Same to you, Wood 2 and Marble boards.) But still, we will keep coming back to this app versus the others because it's a one-time payment for some great features, letting you know how to improve your game, something that's locked behind subscriptions on other apps. We just hope that improving the look of the app is on the roadmap.

Mejora el nivel con las ayudas asistidas!!!. Lo mejor.

Love it! Learning a lot with the suggestions mode.

Want to learn and be challenged this is the best low cost chess app around. Our game has improved tenfold.

Ive used plenty of Chess Apps. Chess Tiger Pro is the best one out there. Loaded with features.

Number one strategic go to game for us.

Really curious if the engine increases difficulty independently of the trainer ELO. We find ourselves winning most games and then periods where we cant win at all.

Worthwhile- app is helpful for practice.

Using this app is a great way to keep skills sharp & fill empty time.

Program falsely enters stalemate mode for three repetitions when this has NOT happened.

Hi everyone this is arguebly the best app on the App store for iOS iPad OS and macOS. There is 1 thing that we would love to see on this app is more piece visuels. Our favorite is Chess Alpha visual set which is not on this app and it's a common seen visual set on many other apps and we would love to see it on this one.

Really enjoying this chess game with no ads. Appreciate the encouragement it offers.

Chess tiger pro is one of the best chess app out there for improving your game. It has different level of difficulty that helps you progressively get better. It is very user friendly you can adjust settings to match your playing style.

Customization and playability is off the charts good, genuinely helped us learn chess and we had fun while doing it. Very very worth the purchase.

We like that it is a one time payment and well worth the money. Im learning a lot and improving our rank.

This is a great app that only charges you once.

We like you can choose your opponents Elo. Much of other options.

And no better way after so many years is to sign up to Chess Pro. Great companion to helping us the strategies we forgot. Not to mention a great and easy and fun to use Chess SW. Many.

Best $10 spent on a mobile game.

Great fun helps your feckless game.

It is super helpful for people trying chess.

This chess game is well suited for learning the game and improving skill. If you want a little advice during a game you can ask for it. Or not. The game encourages you by saying things like, An expert wouldve made that move, or you just made our day, etc. Its a little funny but we kinda like it. The game is visually pleasing and clear with a lot of options to do things like go back a move, switch colors, during a game. It also remembers your last game so if you exit, when you start it again youre game is right there waiting for you. We would say the app is well designed and fun. We intend to continue using it.

This app has a lot to offer, historical games to study with on the fly analysis. Best move tips, unlimited redo's for trial and error learning, plus many more. We don't usually pay this much for an app, but this one is worth the money. The downside, we now have a good idea of how bad we are at chess. Hopefully for you it will be telling you how good you are and how to get better. (Update: this app is worth 10 times what it's listed. The power of analyzing your games, won or lost is priceless if you are wanting to improve) (Another update: we noticed a review saying Hiarcs might be better. We bought it and while it is good. We still like this app much better.).

How can we move several times under fire with the King and you move once after we Queen a Pon to a stalemate? Joke of a rule by developer.

Love the app. Have you thought about adding a Fischer random mode to the app.

Very flexible and easy to use.great to learn from.

Rating is not consistent with other pro softwares like smallfish. Which makes higher level games not so competitive.

Ive had this thing for years we cant even remember when we first got it and we thinks its x1000 better than chess.com its suggestion settings and also its threat detection as well is amazing great way to learn chess and how the pieces work.

The best organised chess teach/advice/play app that Ive found/played & learners from.

Great app, we just have to complain about something. It seems like when you set it to a weaker AI, rather than make a wider variance of moves from good to mediocre, it will always make a mediocre move. When you set it to 1000 elo it is very repetitive in the opening, and never plays the most popular ones.
