We played this game years ago as Silent Service on PC and now its even better as Crash Dive. Great way to burn time and never seems to get boring. One of m favorites.
We play for hours at a time. Every day at a time!
This game is extremely fun and has high replay value. We keep coming back like a moth to a flame. The graphics are fun and detailed and we really get the feeling of stalking prey while creeping up on a convoy and planning our attack. We also feel the fight or flight instincts kick in when Im discovered and smash the CRASH DIVE button!
Love this game. One thing that would be cool to add is to be able to play as a destroyer hunting subs.
There needs to be an update that allows you to use actual U-Boats used during the Battle of the Atlantic.
Perfect game full of fun. We always go easy. (I cant destroy a convoy with over 3 escort dont judge) But, we did complete the destroy a convoy with your deck gun though Phsss we do that ALL the time. (Try it). Makes it SO easy. In summary perfect game for historian and gamers alike.
We are enjoying this game immensely. It awakens fond memories of Sid Meier’s 8-bit Silent Service game. The developer has done an excellent job of creating an addictive balance between simplicity and sophistication, just as the original did. Well worth the small price.
We’ve been playing this game since it came out still the best sub game on iPad.
We really want to be able to walk around in the sub and on top of the sub and an upgrade system.
It is stupid how fast the other ships are. Its not realistic. If we are going 9-15 knots, then these others ships are going 600 knots. Fun game though.
This has got to be our all time favorite game. Just wish there was a Gato version of it.
Love this game. Lately though, the sky graphics are black and white. We’ve tried restarting, new campaigns. Etc.
Bought this game 5 or more years ago. Still fun. Not too challenging on easy but a real struggle on hard. We dont think its been updated in a while but works on latest OS, so Id still suggest. Also – NO in-game purchases or ads! We hate those games and delete them quickly. Thats part of why we’ve kept this so long.
Very entertaining game, also unrealistic physics corvettes dont act like tugboat in real life. Also the leaderboards are false unless these people have used a unlimited torpedo fuel hack. Doing war patrol, and missions we suggest an option for different years so you use latter U boats such as the type 21.
If you hide under the ocean liner the destroyers are allowed to drop depth charges on top of the ocean liner resulting in unrealistic play.
Please let the player look up and down and make the submarine look more realistic and please add third person so o say we wasted our moneY.
The leaderboards are getting very offensive. People are using the extremely long fields for name entry, to make many offensively hateful political messages.
Since when can two enemy ships collide and not damage each other or sink. Its happened quite often so that needs to be fixed and then you have escort ships dropping depth charges while up against their own ships. We sank a battleship with our deck gun which is really impossible to do. Just not a realistic game and its an insult to actual submarine warfare. Since this game hasnt been updated in years we highly doubt its going to be fixed. Theyll just steal your money for a crappy product.
We’ve played several sub games here at the App Store. A couple were pretty good submarine games, especially being free or very inexpensive. We dloaded this game and can’t say enough about how good a sub game it is. We emailed the creator/author, he replied promptly and was very cordial, friendly. After playing the game now for a few weeks we can’t say enough about this game. The level of realism is great and the creativeness of the game maker is remarkably impressive. We don’t mean to oversell the game but we certainly don’t want to undersell the game either. We attacked a convoy head on with a Corvette warship dead ahead. We fired a spread of 3 torpedoes (missed) and the Corvette and we basically scraped barnacles as we passed each other. We figured it was time to completely submerge and turn on the speed and use a decoy. As the Corvette went left, we went right. Before the stern of the Corvette disappeared to our left we saw a depth charge launch from the stern and land probly 75 yards in front of us and explode. We were in the process of diving and figured I’d missed his first barrage. As our periscope disappeared underwater his next depth charge landed right above us and exploded. We figured we were dead, nearly was. Alarms of almost every kind available went off at varying levels of damage. We managed to dive, repair and disengage to fight another day/convoy. We could write many paragraphs about how fun this game is. It’s worth every cent and if you like WW II submarine games we promise you’ll love this game. We’re a 59 year old retired teacher and have a blast playing this game.
Now we must have a good WW2 Pacific Ocean game For US suns.
We know sometimes it will tell you what type of uboat you have and we were wondering if we can pick are on model?
This game is among our favorites. We have played for hours at a time and have several top ten petrols, so easy to master. We do have one question, after the initial convoy attack/escape, when you reengage the convoy the destroyers do not protect their convoy. They break off and race to the initial contact point, leaving the convoy unprotected! Surly the allies did not do this. We think the high scores would be a lot lower if the destroyers always stayed and protected their convoy. Just our thoughts- once again this is an awesome game! 2 thumbs up!
Liking this game so far. We would really like to see a clock display to know what time of day it is. Hunting down ships submerged would be nice to know the lighting conditions so as to come up in darkness to hunt better.
Very nice. Tutorial could be better. Enemy ships ram each other looking for you to no ill effect. Other than that a fascinating and challenging game. Cannot figure out how some of the high scores were achieved.
It takes away from enjoy playing this game with no option to choose sides Allied or Axis and doesnt settle well to sink American ships. We stopped playing this deleted this game.
Poorly written sim which is more a arcade game. Note to designers, escort ships do not turn on a dime like rally cars running cones! The also don’t do well when another ship plows into them to shove them out of the way to have a go at the sub!…… Save your monies for a cup of coffee as you will get more enjoyment.
This game has nice, not great, graphics but could be better. Accuracy of ship maneuvering is crap. We’ve never heard of a corvette doing what appears to be 30+ knots while the sub is slower than molasses. Additionally, the turning radius of these ships are ridiculous. A corvette, although fairly maneuverable, didnt turn around its funnel. The corvettes in the game can shove a 26,000 ton ship with ease and run down the side of said ship dropping depth charges the entire time. Also, at periscope depth the corvettes should have a MORE DIFFICULT time locating the boat with ASDIC, not an easier time. Other than the above, which makes the game inaccurate and less fun to play, it is an ok play, but be aware you will have a difficult time applying actual u-boat tactics because its just not realistic. We mean, we sunk a Queen Elizabeth class battleship with the boats deck gun.

Great mobile sub sim thats a lot of fun. Would be awesome if you can add a snorkel option which will allow us to recharge batteries while submerged at periscope depth. You can place the snorkel up/down switch in the space next to the periscope up/down switch. Thanks.
Many so called submarine real time apps. This is by far the best.
Not a bad arcade WW II German sub shooter. Limited repeat playability because the missions are so similar. Only one kind of sub is modeled, the Mark 7 u-boat. Would have been nice to have other subs and more varied missions. It is entertaining for awhile.
A little simplistic, but it is fun. Once you learn the mechanics it is actually quite a time killer. It puts you right in position to sink ships and can be a challenge.
Simple, yet challenging game we found to be totally addicting right away.

This is a great WWII submarine simulation. It has all the great stuff you love, in a very straightforward package. Periscope view as you hunt, crash dive for the escape, and run slow as you creep away. Damage and repairs as well. Simple missions or longer campaigns. Good ability to change settings, from arcade to simulation. This is the only real game like this at the moment for idevices.
Thanks for telling us about ‘no more single escort’ we love the game. Many hours of great enjoyment. We had been looking for an excellent submarine simulation for decades. This is it. Not since "MicroProse, Silent Service" in the late 1980s have we had so much fun. We got suckered into updating. Now 5 plus destroyers every time. Save us. Deleted update and re installed earlier version, now we are happy.
Very realistic game allowing proper tactics. Don’t get too close or your periscope will be spotted. Proper positioning and torpedo attack technique can yield a paralyzing blow to the escort ships. Use the cover of night to close within deck gun range while surfaced and save torpedoes for big, dangerous targets. Defensive tactics with decoys, tail stinger torpedoes and diving techniques all help you survive. Complex enough to keep you coming back for more on hard levels, easy enough to make it fun for a beginner. Make sure to read the directions! Excellent graphics! Best submarine game for iPad and iPhone we’ve found.
This was an awesome game but when it was recently updated the realism factor is now gone. Boats just spin other boats around and the devs changed how you can hunt and shoot what used to work and was successful is no longer so. It is disappointing that such a great game was cheapened to this level. What we used to play all the time we no longer touch. Don’t waste your time!
Every time we see an escort coming the steering is choppy so we always am severely breached with errors can you fix the steering please.
We like the game a lot. Must change how the AI acts. As an example, if we dive and hide under a transport ship, the enemy ships should not be able to pass thru a transport ship and drop depth charges.
We have a iPad 2 latest update with its associated key board but it does not respond to any key board commands. The Crash dive up is the latest version. What’s wrong???
Fun game but a little pricy for what you get. For $6.99 we were expecting more to do. There’s not really many options for missions, mostly just sail around and sink as many ships as you can. Also,it’d be nice if you could see the sub instead of just from the sub’s perspective. Don’t get us wrong, it’s fun and lots of maneuvers and things to do for a sub sim game, but could be better. If you love naval games, buy it, but if you’re on the fence, may want to search elsewhere.
This game has huge potential. Suggestions, please change targeting crosshairs to a lighter color during night missions. Include submarine vs submarine battle. Include oxygen gage for long convoy action. In easy mode include max range indicator during submerged/scope down attacks. This game is very playable and reminds us of the original silent service pc game that we played for hours. Hopefully future updates will include addition map choices. Pacific action would be very fun. We highly recommend.
This is a must have for fans of the sub sims. They are always refining this game and adding new features even after being out on the market for years.
This is the FIRST ipad game that we have not had buyers remorse with! It is great for a quick sub fix on the run or just from the comfort of your own couch. It plays well and is refined and polished… Overall an excellent game for those looking for more than just a simple arcade shooter! Fans of Sub sims like silent Hunter 3&4 will be right a home and the different levels of difficulty will keep you challenged and coming back for more! Bottom line …. We love it!
We’ve been playing this game for more than a year. It plays great… Very stable… Excellent game design and physics. We recommend it!
