Description

*** A highly realistic sailing simulator for the iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch. ***
*** A MUST HAVE for sailing fans. ***
*** The best sailing game. ***

Have fun sailing fantastic boats in 3D in-shore regattas, right from the comfort of your phone and without even getting wet.

In this game, you will use the wind to move your boat fast and win regattas against other boats. You will be the skipper, the helm-man and will also trim the sails.

The main features of this realistic sailing game are:

  • Online sailing: sail against real people!
  • Or play in ‘solo’ mode: you’ll compete against the computer, with different difficulty levels.
  • A perfect way to refine your sailing techniques and tactics, or to learn how to sail in life-like situations.
  • For beginners, cWind can coach you from marker to marker, by means of steering helps and progressive tutorials.
  • A very complete instruments panel will give you all the data you’ll need to brew a winning tactic and arrive first on the finishing line. But if you find that’s too much, you can switch back to the ‘basics’.
  • Several boat types, from a 19th century cutter to the latest Imoca 60 footer. And now a new beach catamaran. The boats have their own characteristics and need to be sailed accordingly.
  • Several regatta courses, some easy to start with, others very difficult to complete. Some of the regattas are even more challenging than what you’ll ever encounter on real water! So make sure you choose the right boat for those… and keep her well trimmed at all times!
  • The game implements the ISAF 2013-2016 racing rules of sailing. Respect them or you’ll be penalised, like in real regattas!
  • An on-screen radar will show you a tactical view of the course and will guide you from marker to marker.
  • Two game modes: pure regattas, or regattas "with a twist", where you will hunt for "magic things" on the course to capsize the other boats, steal their wind, give you a turbo boost, and more…

You will have to use the wind and tidal currents to your advantage. You will steer the boat by tilting your phone, and you will trim your sails yourself for maximum speed.

cWind Reviews

Like we just wrote, it’s a very VERY Good sailing sim that is very realistic.

Sadly though, some rule applications are a but buggy. Also has a lack if boat types, we suggest dinghies such as a 470 or a laser. Also ac72s would be a great addition. Overall a fantastic tactical game for any sailor or beginner looking for some more practice.

We have had several races where we have recieved a penalty in obvious cases where the other boat was at fault (port/starboard, windward/leeward, clear ahead, etc.) It takes the fun out of the game when the basic sailing rules don’t apply.

It was very bad and a wast of our money. When we got it it would not open and it wont work this app is a joke dont get it!

An excellent app to help tune your skills when you can’t be on the water. The multiplayer function is great for bragging rights amongst your family and friends. We were having a problem with the app when we first got it and emailed the support team. They responded right away with some suggestions and then kept us informed about the progress they were making to fix it. Less than two weeks later they emailed us again telling us to keep an eye out for the update and sure enough, no more problems.

Being a sailor, we appreciate being able to deal with the wind and current influences along with the variety of boats to race. A great way to stay mentally connected to sailing when not on the water.

Amazing app. Sailed all our life and this is as close to the real thing as we could hope for on a pad! Bravo!

Very fun sailing simulation. It has a realistic feel to it in how you control the rudder and trim the sails. When we’re playing we feel as though we’re actually sailing. We totally recommend this app.

We enjoy the game. We play on both an iPad and an iPhone. We wish our game was saved in iCloud so we could resume from a different device.

Very nice racing sim – probably the best out there. Very addicting sim. Definitely worth the price. Wish you could do more match racing. Would like to see more choices in racing modes – match racing and windward/leeward course. Also get rid of the currents, as this just slows down the race.

This game is not very good, not very good graphics. Hard to understand where to sail to.

Enjoyed it a lot. Good graphics and pretty realistic.

With the new update the sails look trimmed out too far sailing upwind. Just a visual thing as far as we can tell, but it doesn’t look right.

Not a bad sim. The only improvements we would make are a little better wind indicators and the ability to pan out to view the other boats and quickly drop back onto the behind boats look. Also we would like to see more boats and more short courses. The fun is always at the markers.

We’re seriously impressed. This is exactly what we’ve wanted in an iOS sailing game/simulation. We could see how it would be hard for someone who has never sailed before to pick this game up, but then again, we could see this being a great tool for learning points of sail and tacticionship (yes, we made that word up). For a seasoned sailor this is great way to combat those sailing urges when you can’t get on the water. Gave 5 stars because it was everything we wanted in a racing simulator. But, we would like to see improvements in graphics and environment interaction (such as darker water for wind puffs) in later updates. Overall not perfect but very very good… Much more enjoyable on our iPad3 then iPhone5 Thanks developer for hours of enjoyment!

Should have cockpit view but any ways best app ever. Also u should add bad weather and or even just weather scenes. You should also beable to take down sails and decide which one to keep up.

Definitely the best sailing simulator games for the iPhone/iPod/iPad!

Although the first few courses are somewhat boring, one you unlock the next few the game becomes interesting. Worth the money. Small improvements in graphics would have earned 5*.

We like it. This game provides a nice simulation of how sailboats perform. It would be nice to slow the game down a bit, make the mark that must be rounded more apparent, and add wind shifts/lines.

If you can’t get out on the water, u can still hone your strategy. Sheeting interface a bit odd.

Good sailing trainer. Fun to use when the weathers to bad out for the real thing!

Great idea, it has a way to go to be perfect but worth having if you are into Sailing.

Good intro to basics of racing.

If you are racing friends in beginner mode it works good, but if you are in solo mode in the two advanced levels forget it, you will just get mad. The bad: Going downwind, the wind direction changes wildly every time you trim in, so that you can not get any speed. Unfortunately, your the only one this happens to and not the whole fleet. When rounding marks expect anyone on a port tack to hit you, they do not try to avoid you as in a real race, and when that happens you will loose. When you get hit by the AI sailboats they can do a 720 before you go 20 feet. If you do the fouling by the time you finish your 720 the entire fleet is almost to the next mark. This is where the model falls apart. It’s not the same for both you and the AI’s, if it was it would be a really great program. The good: The for new racers is seeing who has right of way, 2 changes that would make it much better would be to post that info at the top or bottom of the screen in green or red text so that you would know instantly what action to take, and being able to review each encounter after the race. The start process, is what you would expect in a real race. We hope the developer will be able to fix the issues above and the short comings how you see right of way, as this app has the opportunity to be something really great. We could see us at the yacht club racing on our iPads in the off season with this app.

Sail controls are sloppy. Enough with dialogues popping up and BLOCKING YOUR VIEW of the screen. The helpful screen messages are really annoying. Yes we know we could sail faster with a spinnaker… But before the start? Really!?

Poor graphics, lame controls, unrealistic competition (beating us in a tutorial by 5 knts?!), and the pop up messages… Tons of them! Developer says they can be shut off, then you get no info at all. We like the concept (true racing sim) but as a lifelong sailor it’s frustrating and unsatisfying. Save your $.

Every time your in the lead some other boat comes out of nowhere and wins the race.

This has really helped us understand sailing.

We have just started using it, however it is very accurate. Looks like it has a lot of fun and learning potential. Help and training issues can be improved.

Good simulation of sailing. We have years of experience racing small sailboats and this game is pretty accurate. A few rules are wrong and we are having trouble getting others for the multiplayer game, but otherwise quite good.

We love everything except the boat selection Here’s some boats you should add Optimist 420 Laser F18 wind surfing Thank you and PLEASE IMPROVE.

At first, this game plays upside down on our iPad(?!). Just only this game. The graphics are horrible, especially the shore and water. Display is overcrowded with data which should have an option to be turned off. Some even useless (like speed with an arrow pointing at your boat). Fixing all this would give this game 4 starts. To have 5 stars it must be flawless for the price it cost. Go back to work guys and fix it!

Pretty frequent updates, and a solid game. Good job developer!

We played the game once for about 20 minutes then it crashed and now it doesn’t work at all. We’ve killed all apps and restarted our device all to no avail. It was a fun 20 minutes but not worth the cost of the game.

We would like to see more boats like Volvo 70s, tp52and ultamate trimrans. We would also like to see a spin on the acc. And a cockpit view as well thank you. We would just like to say we think you should make a ship sim.

We are an avid big boat racer, and this is the only sailing game worth playing. If you can find others who have the game, online multi player is great. We wish there were more people to play with. Well worth the price, and the developers were helpful and prompt with questions.

The best sailing simulator for the iPad and it will only get better. Love it!

This is a fun game for a sailor, but the later courses need to be fixes( current issues), we think there should be more boats like the ac 145!!

Great sim. By far the best visual and ease of play for the os system. Also better than anything out there for the Mac. Already has given us many hours of fun. Good price point as well. Cheers.

A true to form simulator. Controls take a bit of time to get accustomed to, but gameplay is ‘easy to learn, tough to master’

The old virtual skipper (PC), is way better than the actual version. This looks like the old one and that’s good. The graphics are way below the capabilities of iPad or iPhone. The terrain can be improved. Where is the spinnaker? Despite these considerations that we hope will be addressed, this is a very good game. And relaxing as well.

This is a very good simulator, but we agree with several earlier reviews in that including better competitors and more realistic competition and courses would be better than tacking into a 20 knot breeze with an 8 knot current. All in all a fun simulator with quite good trim and point of sail intuitive reaction.

We think we have found it. Learning a lot that can translate to the beer cans this summer. We just have to learn not to panic. But we have enjoyed just driving our boat into the competition and creating mayhem and millions of dollars worth of damage.

The simulator is very good, our only compliant are the sudden changes is the right/burdened yacht conflict and the difficultly sailing downwind with massive changes in apparent wind with gross trim requirement.

GREAT sim, graphics could be better (smoother edges, water improved) etc. But main annoyance is the screen won’t rotate. Our ipads are always in a case with keyboard. This means that they are always oriented with the home button on the right. (it’s the only way they fit in the case). So unless we remove it from case and keyboard we can’t play the sim. Not practical to hold the ipad, case and keyboard upside down to play. Also check out the water graphics in "top sailor". Your sim now works well, but time to improve the 80’s level graphics. Needs shading, lighting and transparency.

This aint the America’s Cup. Its just a game. If you want to go sailing, then spend 22 million dollars, get yourself a nice boat, and head for the Isle of Mann. If you just want to have a little fun playing a sailing game, then download this one.
