"Diabolical" is a 130,000-word interactive novel by Nick Aires, where your choices control the story. It’s entirely text-based–without graphics or sound effects–and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

Famous, feared, or filthy rich—why not all three? You’ve got the money and the motives to build an evil empire worthy of the most ruthless villain the world has ever seen. Crush the good guys and terrorize the populace! Stamp a big red "FAIL" on your enemies’ foreheads! Plunder your way to world domination – or sit back and pet your kitty while your henchmen do it for you.

Will you be a high-tech daredevil, a ruthless military soldier, or an apparition terrifying to behold? What calling card will you leave at the scene of your crimes? Whatever your choices, the results will be diabolical.

  • Play a villainous story of scheming, grandstanding, and laughing evilly.
  • Interview and hire the best possible (or best available) minion.
  • Decide when to use trickery, when to use force, and when to hide behind henchmen.
  • Choose the ultimate, guaranteed-to-be-infamous nickname.
  • Play as male or female, with straight, gay, and bisexual romance options.
  • Destroy the world!

Very interesting premise and its very well written. Honestly Im very impressed by what you can do. We’ve never really been the hero or the villain type which is why we like this game. Typically villains are too foolish and heroes are idealistic. This game allowed us to be a good villain and to us thats helping the people whilst also providing for your henchmen. Honestly a great game and this is only what we got from 2 chapters. Fun to play sadly you have to pay to go further. Thus Im only able to rate it based off the 2 free chapters and the fact you have to pay to play any further. The writing and story and gameplay are great but that is only up to the 2 chapters we’ve played through.

Dont change anything about this game but please do more like it. Its the best one of the rest of youre games.

Dont get us wrong, great idea! Getting to be the bad guy of your own world? Brilliant! But with this? We dont feel like a villain… We feel like another edgy teenager that wants to be taken seriously. This is mainly in part as to what choice you have, besides having some be completely pointless, most just feel silly… And Im not talking The Joker kinda silly, cuz with him hes still scary as his silly antics lead to a dangerous outcome… This, however, fails to make us feel like a threat. Still a good game & a beautiful concept… Just- a poor execution.

Our parents are never going to let us buy the 499 part but we really.

They only have like two actual free games the rest are overpriced.

We would pay for a sequel for this game.

Worth the money, loved this game!!

This was an incredibly engaging story that surprised us on many occasions with just how wacky it could get. A great choice game for people looking to entertain the villain inside themselves!

This was absolutely the best choice game we have ever played. It had a great plot, a lot of funny moments, and lots ‘o’ lovely characters and choices to make. Although we wish there were a longer story and maybe more choices. Also we wish it weren’t that easy to kill Dr. Arachnus. We’re going to download more choice of games games and we also purchased the rest of the story with no. Hesitation at all. Thanks you!!

We really liked the free trial but we’re a little hesitant to spend 5$ on the whole thing. If we’re being honest here though we probably will buy it. Alas, our will is soft and easily broken. Curses. And thanks.

Until they charged five dollars for the whole game.

This is what choice games is about. Not every story is going to be the best or speak to every reader but the mechanics of this game are great. It is Fun with a capital F, with lots of possible endings and worth replaying many times.

Ohhhh our frickin gawd this is the best thing we’ve ever wasted time on! There were lots of hilarious parts, and personally we loved the whole Biff and Mindy thing. We have to point out that this game also gave us an incredible story idea, so… In conclusion this was the BEST APP we HAVE EVER USED!

Very endearing. Beautifully written and interesting characters. More than anything: unbelievably funny! Definitely a bit of a change from most other games by choice of games, but we really enjoyed it.

It was an amazing story to be a part of!

This game, along with choice of the dragon, needs a sequel.

We have yet to play a Choice of Game that we didn’t like. We see you have a vampire story but not a werewolf. We would be ecstatic if you could release one sometime in the future. That being said, diabolical is one of our favorites. Got to love when the protagonist is the main character.

Funny, original and dang clever we loved every minute of this …

You can turn a corn maze into buttered popcorn and project your face onto the moon. If that sounds like a grand time this game is for you.

We found the game really fun, but it never did ask for a real name or gender? Anyone else find that strange?

This was immensely enjoyable. It was written very well and the story was just excellent, we found it interesting, captivating and heard our self laugh out loud several times! Well done author, we hope to see your writings in the future. We are not a person known to give 5 star ratings easily so trust us when we say this is worth every penny.

This is by far one of in not our favorite choice of game it is great we’ve played through multiple times and we have a idea we like games that allow you to be the villain so we think you should make a choice of alien were you play as a alien general or something and you choose ways to conquer planets you can have a love life maybe with other species and in one ending you become the ruler of your race or something thank you for your time.

This game is great; funny, great writing, great game world, great characters, it has it all. We’ve played and beaten this game probably ten times or more and we love it just as much as our first play through. Our only complaints are that it feels short, needs some more customization in terms of lairs sidekicks and stats but other than that it’s amazing. Please make a sequel soon!!!

The game only gives you 2 chapters then you pay 4 dollars other than the ripoff it’s a good game please fix that.

Though the only part of this game is free, we really enjoyed the concept and options. A good mix of cartoony and action.

We gave it five stars. That’s our review. We loved it.

We loved the sarcasm and lighthearted tone contrasted with dark content. The premise of being a villain is really fun already but the fact that story was well executed was what made it so fun.

As a general rule, we don’t review things. That being said, it takes something truly special for us to go out of our way to praise something like this. This is, without question, our favorite story that we have read in a long, long time. There was a little bit of everything that we could have possibly wanted. Some people want to travel the world, leaving death and destruction in their wake. We are not one of those people. We have dreamed of being a super-villain before, and this allowed us to pull it off perfectly. While there are dark and moody super-villains, this focuses more on the light-hearted, sympathetic perspective. Yes, you rob banks and kill people, but you also have fun with your minions, do paper work in noisy cafs, meet friends and foes, and talk on the premier super-villain social media sites. You also take baths, and go on vacations, and who said that the super villain can’t pull a prank on their foes every now and then? Many people bought this hoping for a serious game. We were hoping for a good story. We got a bunch of laughs, a good (if rather wacky) story, lovable characters, and enough love to give this a five star rating, despite our typical no-reviews policy. Good job authors, good job.

Worth the money and we never say that lightly.

We love this game we haven’t played many of the choice of games apps but we’re sure that this by far must be one of their best we want to play this game till we have every scenario played out and explored every choice!!!

We enjoyed myself thoroughly and laughed our butt off. The choices were hilarious and allowed us to feel like a crazy, funny, unpredictable villain. That being said, we felt little danger with any of our choices and it was more like reading a book than an interactive novel. We had fun, but we feel the choices lack substance that would make many play through a fresh and new. We enjoyed the threesome romance option, but the love interest was more of a side note than anything else. We still enjoyed it immensely and hope for an improved sequel.

Make no mistake, the writing and world that have been created here are fantastic and engaging. It’s definitely a wild ride into classic comic book tropes that will satisfy the most theatrical individuals. Unfortunately, the app seems to view the "options" aspect of a choose your own adventure as more of an added feature rather than a primary component. Decisions frequently serve no purpose, planning points can be ineffective (and are given out quite randomly), and, worst of all, choices are constantly nullified, either by the character having a contrived reconsideration, or by some random event occurring that makes you unable to act upon your choices. It can be very frustrating when this occurs. So while this is definitely a fun way to spend an afternoon, just know that it’s more of a good book than a widely interactive choose your own adventure.

It didn’t really give you a lot of choices, but the writing was experienced, and humor was implemented accordingly. However, we think it would make it a little better if there were more choices that could affect the story further.

This game has the ability to make you feel as an all powerful villain, only to bring you down by a humiliating string of events that sometimes seem even random for its setting. We left each chapter heavily unsatisfied with how our all powerful villain couldn’t handle even the simplest of heroes or other obstacles. We still enjoyed it, but it could’ve used some more upsides. You aren’t a billionaire supervillain just by sheer luck after all. Your character should at least put up a good fight against some of the nemesis’s they face in this game.

Loved the story first time round. Was very disappointed to find your choices have close to zero impact on the story.

There are a few games, now, within CoG’s repertoire that we would qualify as interactive literature in the vein that we probably all look for…. So many of the recent releases, however, scarcely allow you to develop your character with any sort of decision making and proves quite annoying. We understand that to do so requires more work but in purchasing these games, we are paying you for that work. This game specifically reads very juvenile and leads you down paths without any decision of your own that may seem very out of place for what you’d actually like to do. It’s frustrating and has led us to not even finish some of the games we have purchased from CoG. They just aren’t fun. If you want continued business, go back to the highly interactive releases that are truly worth our money.

We typically purchase anything Choice of Games puts out sight unseen because the quality is consistently high. Unfortunately, Diabolical is the most disappointing Choice of Games product we’ve played. The writing is acceptable, but for a game that’s supposed to be centered on making choices and playing the lead character in your own way, there are very few real choices to be made that determine anything of significance. Most of the key plot points are pre-decided and not affected by anything you decide at all, including your character making silly and out-of-character decisions that make little sense. There are plenty of spots where the author could have allowed for more choices to be made, but instead they make the decision for you and tell you what happens.

We love the concept of being the villain, we really do. But if you compare this to some of the other Choice Of games, it really lacks both in content and choices. The price is simply too high with too light of content and choice for it to be a serious recommendation. STEER CLEAR, and go play a DIFFERENT Choice Of game.

Most of the choices doesnt affect really well to the character we wanted to be. ‘Cause most of the time the MC seems to be pretty foolish to us. A bit linear to be exact. You know those kind of games that will make you immerse in the story because of the choices and how it reflects back to to you as the MC. This does not make feel that way. We’re sorry but this game is just disappointing. We wish they made more improvements to the character development.
