Description

The critically acclaimed puzzle board game freely inspired by the Mahjong Solitaire: play solo or against players from all over the world with Online and Local Pass & Play modes!

In Dragon Castle: The Board Game, you will pick tiles from the central castle to create sets of tiles of the same kind in your own realm and score points. You will also build Shrines, trigger powerful Spirit abilities, and appease the tastes of the Dragons to score bonus points! May the best builder win!

HOW TO PLAY
During your turn, you can take a pair of identical tiles from the central "castle" and place them on your own realm board to build your own castle. Alternatively, you may sacrifice these tiles to acquire shrines or extra points.

Every time you create a set of tiles of the same kind, you flip them face down to score points and build shrines on top for even more points, if at the cost of limiting your building options! You may also take advantage of the spirits and their game-changing powers to manipulate the board… Finally, don’t forget to check the active Dragon, and to follow the building requirements to score bonus points.

TEST YOUR BUILDING SKILLS IN SOLO
Play against up to 3 adjustable AIs to sharpen your castle building skills!

OR PROVE YOUR MASTERY IN MULTIPLAYER MODE!

Dragon Castle: The Board Game Reviews

Thanks for making a zoom tool. Now its much easier to select tiles.

So glad we found this game! We like the solo play. Everything is smooth and gorgeous. We like that there are so many play options. It can be more simple or complex, depending on how you choose to play. We appreciate the fair premium price with no ads or IAP. We need more developers like this. It could use a little battery optimization (like a low battery usage mode), but its not bad as is considering the graphics. It could be a bit better though. Very good game, a match only takes 10 minutes, thats the perfect amount of time. This is the only mahjong game we’ve ever really liked. Its a very clever competitive concept. We love it!

Truthfully we’ve never been a fan of Mahjong but these developers have found a way to make it feel new and competitive beyond collecting tiles. We have only 1 complaint about the game. There is no way to randomize the Dragon or Spirit you have during a game. If there was we would definitely give this 5 stars. We feel its an easy yet simple game mechanic that should be on every kind of game that allows for selection.

The tiles need more contrast for depth and the play area is ridiculously small even on iPad. There is no reason whatsoever for 3/4ths of the screen to be sitting empty in solo play and half of it in 2-player. Insipid design. Why do we have to hit a button to end our turn when we have zero additional actions we can take and there is no undo button? What possible sense is there to this? Insipidly unnecessary. And why is there no undo button for tiles youve placed?! This is truly unforgivable in a game like this. 2 stars until this is all fixed.

We are a fan of the game and overall we love the interface design. BUT, we’ve found that the clock recording the time set for a game is totally useless. If we create a game for 30 min. And someone joins, you would think that the app would give each player 30 minutes of time to play. This helps avoid a player getting stuck in a game with someone who never finishes their turn. Ultimately if they dont play, their time runs out and they lose. BUT that isnt what happens. The clock for the other player only runs as long as we are still in the game. If we leave to play a game with someone else the in game timer stops. Completely defeats the value of it. So we have 4 inactive games open right now and even though we’ve taken our turns, our opponents have zero reason to worry about coming back to play because they will never run out of time. This is very discouraging. Games like this need to be able discourage game abandonment. Please fix this.

Its a lovely game and we enjoy it but after a match ends it just disappears with no indication of final scores! We get a match end notification and that is it. If this were fixed this would be a great game.

Sadly we cannot seem to revise our older review. The developers have fixed everything we were having trouble with, and it all works seamlessly. Love this game and this implementation.

Devs clearly didnt spend enough time testing. Multiple screens have critical bugs where the user can creat a situation where it is impossible to proceed. Id give this app zero stars if we could. The quality control is just that bad. Ill be requesting a refund from Apple. Please more fully test your app before shoveling trash into the App Store. We have enough shovel-ware level quality apps already.

We’ve had this game for a couple days now and we love the creative twist it has on the solitaire game Mahjong. The app, however, crashes whenever it is connected through cellular data (not because our phone is an XR, it works great when there is WiFi) A solution to this problem would be great because the game crashing whenever there is no WiFi partially ruins the purpose of a multiplayer mobile game. Other than that, Id love to see this game grow!

Game crashes upon opening immediately. Attempted to uninstall reinstall. Rebooted phone. Cannot even play the game at this point on an iPhone XR. Reviewing update – Updating to 3 stars after the most recent update. Found a way for game to not crash. Game will still crash when WiFi is enabled but with WiFi disables is not capable of booting up and playing the game. Still playing on iPhone XR.

The game opens consistently now so updating our review! Super good adaptation of an already great board game. Some suggestions: – Add a way to randomize spirit and dragon selections – Make it more visually clear (perhaps by color) the different floors of the castle – The AI doesnt make strong use of the dragon bonus points and doesnt pay much attention to them, AI priority may need checked.

Wonderful job. Gameplay is solid, interface is good, everything works and the dev team is on it. :)

To keep this review simple: Great, unique, 2-4 player tile collecting/matching/scoring game with simple rules but a lot of strategy and complexity, and a huge replayability value thanks to a 100 possible combinations of spirits and dragons that each offer an additional action or a way to score points for the given game, thus opening the path to dozens of different strategies. The app itself is very well designed both in terms of esthetics and functionality – beautiful asian themed artwork and music, intuitive user interface and straightforward controls. Offers 3 difficulties of AI (that plays very well) and both offline and online multiplayer. Also Im very much addicted to the animation of picking up/dropping tiles and the satisfying clicking sound they make!! Very much like real mahjong tiles! Completely makes you forget that youre not actually touching those tiles yourself. The only complaint we have is that you cant choose your color in a single player game, which isnt a big deal, but the different player boards are just so beautiful. Also, we think the option to design your own board layouts like in the physical version would be great!

Crashes. Reinstall fixes for a single use but ultimately crashes on start.
