Total Mutant Mayhem on iOS!

Duke Nukem takes his Mighty Boot to the Big Apple. Using G.L.O.P.P. (Gluon Liquid Omega-Phased Plasma), the maniacal Mech Morphix has transformed the creatures of New York City into an army of bloodthirsty mutants. In Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project, Duke must deploy W.I.N. (Weapons, Insults and Name-Calling) to rid the city of goo-based bad guys, and return peace and tranquility to The City That Never Sleeps.

Originally released to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Duke Nukem in 2002, Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project blends together the best elements of Duke Nukem 3D and the best 2D sidescrolling of the first two games in the series, Duke Nukem and Duke Nukem II.

From babes, bombs and Battlelords, to goggles, guns and Gargoyles, revisit Duke’s dynasty with these re-released classics. Return to a time when the King Of Action didn’t need regenerative health or auto-aim – a time when action games were actually about action, an era when heroes had the strength to carry as many guns as they wanted and use as many cheats as they needed.

Celebrate Duke Nukem’s 20th anniversary in sunshade-wearing, quick-quipping style with a title that – alongside the re-release of Duke’s first two adventures – recognizes a series that’s had a tremendous impact on an entire industry, and represents the best of Duke in a way that no other game could.

*** Key Features: ***

A Good Day To Duke: Rip ’em a new one with 9 brand new weapons, including the G.L.O.P.P. Ray, Pipe Bomb, Pulse Cannon and the almighty "press-to-kill-everything" X-3000.

New York, New York: 8 huge levels across various regions of New York City: Rooftop Rebellion, Chinatown Chiller, Metro Madness, Unholy Underworld, Fearsome Factory, Tanker Trouble and Deviant Drilling. And the last level is, let’s say, a little out of town.

Evil Has A Snout: Blast, jump and smart-ass through more than 25 enemies, including Pig Cops, Gator Grunts, and Roachoids.

What Are You Waitin’ For?: A potent blend of old school gameplay and smooth 3D visuals, Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project brings together the best of both Dukes for the ultimate Duke Nukem experience.

Let’s rock!

Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project Reviews

Runs well on our ipad 4 and iPhone 5S. Controls work good too.

But very lagging in iPod touch gen 4, please fix error next version, thanks.

On 5s works fine, just controls could be even smaller and more visible..

The game works fine on the moga gamepad but where is the update for ios 8 ..

Constantly locks up when using a MOGA controller.

We don’t understand why there are all these performance issues when the game is not demanding. We have an iPhone 4, not an S or any variation of the 5’s. So if it really isn’t meant for the older devices that are more than capable of running a higher OS than 6 mind you, then just say so. Was there QA at all before release? We wonder… Because this isn’t the first time our nostalgia with Duke Nukem has been murdered by bad ports. Please fix the game. We paid for it, we just want it to work properly. Or give us graphic options to turn off…. Something!

The game is a good port with great controls. Unfortunately the save system is completely broken right now which hurts an otherwise awesome game. The game loses track of saves and you cannot even create a save file without starting a brand new game. Hopefully the devs fix this huge oversight soon.

We just bought it, and it doesn’t work with our iPhone 6, whenever we click on the game it get us back to the home screen! We don’t recommend it at all!

Our god please fix the lag on iPhone 4.

Just bought the game, have the most recent iPad, all up to date, and we open it then it closes right away. We would love to play it…

We’re having all kinds of problems with the biggest upgrade pack. We have to restore purchases after we die once. Make this work and we’ll change our review. We’re on a wifi 32gb ipad air.

Crashes on launch on an iPad Air running iOS 8.0.2.

We have an iPhone 4 and this game lags and does not preform well. There are times were the audio cuts out and will stop playing. The lag is unbearable and makes the game unplayable and we’re sure an iPhone 4 can handle ps1 graphics.

Only Duke Nukem 3D is better. But honestly, Manhattan Project has better Duke one-liners and a much better story. It takes only one level to get the controls down, then you’re kicking alien butt and makin’ bacon of the pig cops. We found myself laughing at so many parts of this game and we’re only about a third finished. A very long game! If you consider Duke Forever the disease, then Manhattan Project is the cure. The King is back!

This game is so epic, we wanted to play it on Xbox Live when it was out, but never got to, now we play it here and am loving it, all but one thing, please add a save button, the auto save doesn’t save a thing unless we start a new game and quit, then load the app again. Please and thanks.

We love this game so far. Its real fun with the moga controller. Thanks so much for making it compatible with controllers really makes this game a true 5 stars!!

The game is a lot of fun. Graphics are top notch, controls work well and it’s challenging. On that level it’s a 5 star game. However the save system is horrible. We play the game for 30 minutes. All along we get messages that say "progress saved" during gameplay… But if we decide to quit and then pick up the game later it takes we WAY back in our progress and we’ve wasted a ton of game play. They need to dramatically improve the save system and this game will be much better. Right now it’s so bad we really don’t want to play it much.

Pretty annoying when we play for a long time, restart later and it’s at the beginning again. We would give it a -5 if we could.

Awesome game. Best mobile game we have ever played. Its a classic side scroller with all the fun of duke nukem classics.

It is a great game we were actually wrong about it. However… The sound was working for two seconds until we put ear buds in, then it just become silent, we tried other games, the sound works on the others. So we realized that it was just the game, so we guess Im just going through it without any sound, unless the next time we go on, how knows.

Technologically speaking, this looks great on iOS, despite a few bland and repetitive environments. We had a couple of corrupt save files. We addressed this by replaying the latest stage or the one before and continuing through. Nothing permanently broke the game. For Duke Nukem fans, all the cheesy 80s-90s humor involving Duke kicking more alien butt is here on full display. Story 5/5. The platforming game style feels like a step back from the full 3D Duke games we are used to, but it is an adaptation that works well on mobile. Unfortunately, there are a few bugs with jumping, grabbing platforms, and bouncing off enemies. Duke can also only fire in 3 directions and weapons are the only way to hurt enemies. Also, there is almost no strategy to fighting. Just fire first, preferably with a pipebomb on a higher platform, and keep moving so you don’t get shot by an offscreen enemy. Gameplay 2/5 The sound is what you would expect. Bland ambient background music. Gun blasts, and John St. John’s stellar voiceovers for Duke. Sound 4/5 The presentation is what really hurts it for us. Although technically impressive for high res textures and full 3D environments, it has a very sixth console generation appearance involving a lot of bland repetition. Also, the character models are fairly low poly. There is some variety between locations – Streets, Club, Subway, but each slog on too long with the repetition. With so many artistically presented 3D mobile and mobile platform games available today, we cannot forgive this. Presentation 2/5 This is a game we cannot ignore as a Duke fan, but if it wasn’t a Duke game, I’d probably write it off as a Playstation 2 Era novelty at best. Overall 3/5.

We paid for the full version for both our phone and iPad. It will only get us to the End of 5-1 on our phone.

Epic game, but glitches with flying DUKE… Please fix, then it will be 5/5.

This game brought back a lot of great memories. But unfortunately it crashes every time we launched a saved game. Wish we never bought it! For the record, Im using an iPhone XS on iOS 12.2.

We cant finish the game because glitch.

How disappointing! We spent several hours progressing through the game only to have a crash upon opening. This is happened twice already and we have lost hours of time. Im not going to try again because you never know when its going to crash again. There seems to be no way to recover this.

Dont waste your time. Locks up.

Every time we load the game we get to the screen to select easy normal or hard as soon as we click on one it glitches out to our home screen very disappointed.

Thank you so much. Now work on ios 8.

This game is great a must for any platform 2d. Brings back old school game.

Add duke nukem forever to the App Store if that’s too big plz port land of the babes.

Real deal! No freezing on iPhone 4s.

We only played the first one and a half levels, and it’s bretty gud.

Compared to the PC version the control on this isn’t very good, which made an already frustrating game even more frustrating.

The game overall is good but here are some glitches. We are unable to grab onto pipes to move across the game screen. This glitch doesn’t enable us to actually enjoy the game since we cannot move on with the objectives.

The game is great, but it’s way too glitchy. We can’t even run half of the time, and when we do the game makes us automatically die!!! Please make an update for this game.

El juego es muy bueno pero ahora us encuentro con un bug en deviant drilling part 1 que no us deja jugar se descontrola duke. Sera bueno que lo solucionaran.

It’s very bad & slow on iphone 4 ios 7.

Love playing this game but too often, we are not able to do anything at the beginning of a level. Duke will only float across/up the current screen.

No fixes for issues and IAP. Whatever happened to pay and play. Manhattan greed.

We’ve been playing Duke Nukem since the 90’s and they have yet to address this issue. To find certain secret locations and nukes you have to jump on small ledges to do it. With a camera angle that’s zoomed out it makes it nearly impossible to obtain combined with horrible controls. We honestly give up playing this and it’s only been an hour. It’s not the difficulty that pisses us off its the bad design that makes this game utter garbage. Take this as a word of advice stay far away from this game it’s not worth your time and money. Also what the hell happened to Duke Nukem 3D for iOS. All of sudden Apple pulls the game off the App Store and now we can’t redownload it. What a joke we payed money back a few years ago when it first came out for iOS. It seems like they don’t stand by there product or even tell people that the app is getting pulled. If they would have told the people that bought the app that it was being pulled we could have at least redownloaded it on our phone before it happened. That’s pretty shady in our opinion. Hopefully this review helps others to decide whether or not to buy this game for themselves.

Will not be compatible with next iOS. Please update.

You added IAP to an OLD game that never had them previously? Congratulations devs; you are scum.

What is a word for worse ever…. The controls are absolutely useless… Should be able to rate at zero or less this game deserves it.

Way too many glitches ! Loses sounds and you can’t move the player. Waste of money It’s a shame too, Duke Nukem is a great game.

When we PAID for this game it didn’t have the pay for option. This must of been due to a update. We’re not going to pay twice for same game. This was a crooked and very deceitful of those that put this game out. I’d like a total refund but you can be assured this won’t ever happen. Apple shouldn’t condone such business practices.

We just started playing the game on iPad and we have to say it far better on our G3 which we are not using anymore because of being out dated machine and software. Not even started the into the second level and we cannot play anymore because all he does is walks on air across the screen and we cannot do anything with him. Pretty sad to have glitches this soon in a game. Well when you decide to fix this problem we may be able to pickup and play again until then it dead game for this gut. That why we give one star.
