Community Insight:

Somewhere in June 2015 is what we got this game as a deal in total it was five to $10 at the time for the whole game. Always been a fan of Final Fantasy titles games.

Im disappointed is so many people writing bad reviews complaining the game isnt free. This has been one of the best games put out recently. Im so sick of pay to play scam games. At least you can play the first chapter for free to see if you like it. This is one of our favorites with good replay value. Id rather pay one price for a good game, with a good story, and great gameplay. We wish we had more like this. We hear final fantasy dimension 2 isnt as good. But we highly recommend this game. Well worth the money in our opinion.

Look great game love the style but having controller support would make the game so much better . We WOULD LOVE IF IT HAD CONTROLLER SUPPORT PLEASE.

Im on our second play through, through the game. Some strongpoints that are consistent through the game is team switching. We love the job exclusives and the switching between chapters. Ya, about job classes theyre the best part of the game. We wouldnt have had it any other way. For not being a mainline, its consistent, and could definitely come across as one. This game needs more recognition.

Give us more!!!!!! Just do is S.E.

Could you please add controller support for that old school feel.

This game is really cool, very fun and awesome. But..we have one concern. Can you make it controller friendly?? To the developers.

In a nutshell if you loved old school Final Fantasy games you will love this. Graphics are true to the originals, gameplay made a smooth transition to mobile and the music is renewed but reminiscent of the classics. Best of all you can try it for free in the prologue and grind away! We only have the prologue but will be downloading new chapters after we level up some.

We would rate this a 5 star if it had controller support.

Tries hard. Sometimes itll even feel a little like a FF especially in the endgame. Falls flat in the character department we think.

When are we getting controller support. Cmon SE. Its 2024 almost 2025. This game deserves controller support. We havent played it since release cause it hasnt been updated! Give us a reason to play again and tell others about how AWESOME this game is.

We almost didnt finish playing this game because it was boring us so much, but it gets good near the end of chapter 3. The grind of meet a new companion, do an episode, then learn that companions job, got really repetitive. Even if youre a Final Fantasy fan, Id say you dont need to play this one.

The iPad app does not allow us to recover cloud save files our iPhone. Otherwise the gameplay is decent and captures the feeling of the older FF titles before FF7.

Great game but needs a controller update desperately.

They reel you in with all the classic final fantasy music and tropes and just as you are finishing up the first major dungeon, they want you to buy the next chapter. You have to buy each chapter and game, with a total cost of 38$. Shammery. We want the old Squaresoft back! Shameless activity like this would have never flown. Our favorite gaming company quickly turning into our most despised, faster than Blizzard did. We wont be looking at FF16 at all.

Every time we leave the app, the music turns off. We have to quick save and restart the app. Confusing.

Please make this game compatible with controllers. We love love this game but cant use a controller with it.

Our only complaint is no controller support.

We love this game that Im thinking of playing right from the beginning. The storyline is great and funny. The job leveling is a little aggravating but hey the rewards outweighs the cons.

We really enjoy this title. We've never quite finished it, though. The main reason is because Square Enix has never added the ability to upload your saved game to iCloud. We'd probably give a 5 star rating if they ever added cloud saving because that's really the only reason we docked them in the first place. Hopefully, it's coming at some point. The day they add the ability to upload your saved game to the cloud is the day we write a full review and add the 5th star. 01/28/17 Chloe save added! Thanks.

We suppose with the Pixel Remasters debuting, Square Enix are curating their remaining mobile catalogue. While save backups to iCloud are more than welcome, Id request wireless controller support, too, allowing for T.V. Play sessions from a distance.

Square-Enix needs to add controller support like Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana has.

We loved this game. It may not have been the best, but the combat system and the job system were really fleshed out for us. However, we have a problem with the font and frame rate. After we updated the game to the newest update, there have been framerate issues (idek how) and there are issues with font. Either looking like absolute garbage or not fitting with the text. We have loved this game, however these issues have deterred our enjoyment. Please update and fix the font so we can love this game again.

Pc port? Cmon Square. Get with the times. We love the game. Hate the outdated 1997 support in 2021.

We dont mind paying for quality games. Just be transparent about it and let us know what Im buying at the beginning. Once you progress through the prologue you are forced to make a purchase for the next chapter or buy all the chapters. Fine, Ill fall for your lame gimmick because Im a sucker for nostalgic FF games. But then to not even work Ive tried various times to make the purchase for the chapters without luck. We keep getting An Unknown Error Occurred. Just have people buy this regularly through the App Store and drop the get hooked and spend model.

This game would easily be a 4 or 5 if it had controller support.

Unless you love the job system and have 15 dollars to spend on jank then pass, even then the free part of the game doesn't even let you experience the job system, which y'know is important to the battle system.

We purchased this game a few years ago on an older iPhone. We have upgraded to the iPhone 14 Pro and now the full version of the game is not there. We can only play the prologue, even though Ive purchased the full version of the game. Any suggestions.

Yet another poorly made SE app.

Please support gamepad and controller for us old school gamers.

We HATE pay to play games. CEO of Square Enix. We need to come up with a way to make money off of this game. Employee. How about we just make it look like its free. Then, we make them pay a lot of money just to play other parts of it CEO of Square Enix and everyone else at the meeting table. Claps continuously, love that idea we hate when they do crap like that.

No controller support in 2021 is just lazy. Crap.

Ive played this game thru 2 times and Im doing it a 3rd time. Worth every penny. Truly amazing. Fun and challenging with plenty of side quests. We highly recommend it.

If you already have FF1-6 and The After Years, and youre eager for more classic FF, dont hesitate to buy this game. FF Dimensions plays like a sequel to FF5, with that games glorious job system, but with 5 characters in your party, and a much larger variety of playable characters. Also, like FF5, there is a fantastic auto-battle system, with lightning fast battles that you can take control of at any moment with ease. The battle menus are also laid out very conveniently compared to some other Final Fantasy games of this style. The prologue is free but its so short we dont see the point. We wouldnt bother playing without shelling out the $13.99 for the complete game. This is not a free to play or pay to win game like others are complaining about. The prologue is a trial. Pay the $14 and you get a full, great old school Final Fantasy game. As with most mobile FF games, there are control issues. Be sure to go into settings and switch to the Slide d-pad option or the game is unplayable. The Fixed option puts the d-pad on the left side of the screen, which is terrible. And the default option makes it impossible to talk to NPCs or interact with objects without constantly aiming your character in the wrong direction. The interactive objects are not marked with ! (or anything). Dealing with random chests, barrels, and pots is an absolute nightmare using the default controls, because its difficult to tell if youve even checked them.

This game is great for us since it is a combination of final fantasys five with the ability and jobs and six with the atb bar returning as well. The story is okay we saw a tempo in the story but that is a easy fix. If there is one thing to change it would be the story because it doesnt make any sense but the game itself is great.

The old school FF1-6 feeling of gameplay with the sprites, equipment, and diverse party is great. The in-depth job system expands on what III and V built allowing you to really build a party of your own. Finally, the story, splitting into two teams and allowing you to experience two separate, concurrent stories was a really enjoyable part that made it so the game never felt too grindy or too mush of a slog since you could grind a few lvls/job lvls and then swap to the next party for a breath of fresh air. Only thing it lacks is a post-game since it is just 3 bosses repeated with no real reason past that. Still a solid optional challenge compared to other titles… Looking at you FFVI.

We gotta say we didnt regret buying this, the story was a good inspiration, the characters are what most of the previous casts of characters dont, and they were interesting, and the gameplay is really fun and challenging, you should at least play through it once.

Beautiful mobile final fantasy. Would be perfect with cloud saving.

Dont now what people are talking about it was free for us but ya.

Prologue was great. Only problem so far is the way the exp shows after a battle. It's a little confusing and hard to tell how much each person is actually getting from each battle, which is important if you want to focus on leveling a certain person being that it seems like each character gets different amounts from certain types of monsters. Otherwise great game and we'll be purchasing the full game as soon as we can. FF8/FF9 for mobile…we seriously cant believe you people are slacking on this. It should've been in the works years ago, as well as more games like the old Nintendo ones. Hop to.

So, this is quite fun to play. The overworld theme is nice to listen to, the character sprites couldve been better, but it really gives off that ff vibe. Just like ffV, it has the highly praised job system, but it also has the new fusion ability mechanic where you need two specific abilities to learn a new skill. This includes stuff like magic missile, Aqua breath, and others. The story is decent and the battles are challenging. Worth it.

Its a shame that this was the only new mobile FF thats an actual game and isnt built around micro transactions like Brave Exvius and Mobius. This game is almost identical to Final Fantasy 5 in its art style, use of the job system, and unoriginal plot but at least it doesnt take itself too seriously and can still be appreciated for its campiness. This time you have two parties, the Warriors of Light and Warriors of Darkness, each receiving different jobs that cause them to be developed quite differently. And this game is hard. Set ATB to active, crank the battle speed all the way up and prepare to die multiple times to bosses just like the good old days.

This is by far the best Final Fantasy RPG mobile game if you are a fan of the classic nes/snes games. The story is gets a little predictable as you progress through the game but the characters are entertaining and you have all the classic elements such as job classes, spells, weapons and lots to explore. One feature which we absolutely love is the auto battle which speeds up the battle sequence for your random encounters. It makes grinding and leveling up so much less painful. The one negative thing we have to say is that the game takes over and does way too much talking and cut scenes for the story progression. Sometimes we just want to keep battling and moving forward and instead theres 10 mins of talking and character interaction. Once its over and you move on to the next cave or castle it takes over again. Other than that this game is great and we play it about once per year since its so much fun.

Theres not really much else to say about this game except that we felt like we were playing a lost Final Fantasy game from the Super Nintendo era. This is a game for people who loved Final Fantasy 3 and 5 with the best job system in any Final Fantasy game to date. We were really disappointed that dimensions 2 was nothing like this but heres to hoping the next dimensions game will be something similar to this.

Take the guest star party member system of FFII, the jobs of FFI,III, and V, along with the light and dark and character development of IV, and you have an idea what this game is like. The first episode is free and gives you an idea what the gameplay is like, then you have to actually cough up money, surprising we know. It's not always true but "you get what you pay for" and for the apps that you pay nothing, you get nothing as quality. -1 star for the INSANE difficulty spike later on in the game, and the amount of grinding you'll need to do so that you can unlock the fusion techniques you want.

This is a solid FF game, and it features play length comparable to the console titles. Worth the money.

Being a spinoff, we had pretty low expectations. In fact, the game sat idly on our phone for months before we started to play it. It's actually very enjoyable. The feel of the game is like a "Final Fantasy 5.5" in terms of the engine generation. The job system is astoundingly well balanced and thoughtfully designed. The random encounter enemies are stupidly strong. They regularly smack you for over half your HP. But this makes expendable items meaningful unlike the other FFs where you never use them. The story is simplistic and unoriginal but the game mechanics make it worthwhile. It's also quite a long adventure. It took us well over 50 hours to get through. Highly recommended for those who want the nostalgic FF experience but want a game they haven't already played ad nauseum.

Reminds us of the best Final Fantasy's ever made. FFI, FFII, FFIII, FFIV, FFV, FFVI and FFVII. The older games were so much better than the new ones. This one is just like those. After FFVII they started to loss what made them good. We just wish we could get all of these on the PC including this one. Infact it would be nice if we could play the itunes games in the itune PC app, wouldn't that be nice. With cloud saves as well.

Considering buying a full FF game at a store costs $50 bucks – this is a great value right on your phone! Much better than the overwhelming amount of free to play, mind numbing crap that permeates the App Store. Happy to pay! :).

There are a lot of bad Final Fantasy games in the AppStore, and there are a handful of great ones. This is one of the great ones.
