flocks – Simulation Game Review

flocks is a Simulation/Puzzle game from nada studio, sl, first launched in 1st June 2021.
It’s rated 9+ and currently has 126+ ratings on the App Store.

What Makes flocks Stand Out

Flocks is not just another puzzler.
It's a world of never-ending, simple and beautiful "scenarios".

You will need to think outside the box in each one of them.
But it won't be tedious, we promise: they are physics based, they are fast, they are really fun, and there are many of them.

Instead of controlling a single character, you will be handling groups (Flocks), combining and splitting them to solve every challenge you face. Grab objects, move them, pile them… Anything you can think of!

The beautiful design is intended to create the illusion of being a simple two-dimensional illustration, while allowing you to enjoy a real three-dimensional realm that you wouldn't expect.

Have fun!

This Simulation game offers engaging gameplay and regular updates for mobile players.

Player Experience Highlights

Community Insight:

We organize our apps by color, and the only reason we got this game is because the icon is yellow/orange. Now Ive beaten the first stage of levels and love it.

We want to like this game. It looks clever, we want to support developers, and we like that responses are given to reviewers. That is so refreshing. We gave 5 stars. But either Im doing something wrong, or maybe the App Store telling us our iPad is compatible was not correct. Its brutal to move a little person anywhere. If we roll our finger across the objective, the character will move sometimes. If we tap the objective, hell just throw something at it. And if he gets behind a tree hes lost in the forest and we cant select him and have to restart. We dont have a controller but did try with that feature turned off and on.

The artwork is simple and whimsical, and the puzzles arent tough. Mechanic is a little different but straightforward nevertheless. Totally recommended for anyone looking for something new.

Due to the small amount of levels, this makes us be able to complete this very quickly. Because of this, we think this should be a bit cheaper, to make the moneys worth. This is the only reason Im downgrading our review from 5 stars to 4.

Its ok in our opinion the levels arent really that hard. Completed the game in a few hours.

Not amazing, not compelling. Some of the game mechanics do not work the first time you try them leading you to believe youre doing something wrong. Just a weird game.

Im sorry we really want to like this game. But the controls are lacking (especially driving, jumping off/on to things) and take away from every good aspect of the game because driving and jumping is mostly what player does. By the time we finished some levels we were so frustrated that it wasnt worth it. Once the developer gets better controls going, this will be a sweet game. Also, the developers are very responsive so we are sure they will perfect the game soon enough.

This game has a lot of potential but it is also buggy to the point where we had to repeatedly restart levels and lose progress.

Some cool puzzles. Great unique graphics. Love the mellow feel of it. The controls are like 75% of the challenge (in that the controls are difficult to get the hang of). We gave it an hour of play before moving on.

Overall the game was a good idea, and we like the concept. However some of the objectives are just too vague. For example, Im on the level crusher where you have to crash a car. And despite the fact that we successfully crushed the car and it passed through the crushing machine, we still fail the level. We have no idea why we are failing the level. Ive accomplished the objective. There needs to be a bit more to help the user fully understand all level objective requirements. At this point we cannot figure out why we cannot get past this crusher level and have just given up on the app.

Really really fun to play. Way chill than Starman, which could sometimes be a little too intense (but in a good way). Flocks certainly has a unique art style and a bunch of original game mechanics. It's also a tad reflexive, and the end kept us wanting more!! Good work devs, you made it again.

This game has beautiful style and interesting puzzles from what Ive seen so far. However the mechanics are not intuitive and unfortunately we got stuck fairly early because the new action we were being shown (drag down to turn person into ball) did not work. We are probably doing something wrong here but its not intuitive and the grouping/ungrouping of the flock is also clunky. We assume the puzzles get better as you move past the tutorial stage but what we saw was fairly simple to figure out although occasionally a bit tedious to complete.
