Galaxy Invader 1000 – Casual Game Review
![]()
Galaxy Invader 1000 is a Casual/Action game from Rob Wilmot, first launched in 6th July 2013.
It’s rated 4+ and currently has 16+ ratings on the App Store.
What Makes Galaxy Invader 1000 Stand Out
First there was the original Galaxy Invader (Galaxy Invader 1978). Now this sequel, also known as Cosmic Fire Away, blasts you back to the 1980's again when games were simple but very addictive. An accurate recreation of the VFD LSI game by CGL, Gakken, Tandy and other companies of that time. Fun for all ages with three difficulty levels. All those retro sounds and that vacuum fluorescent display are here. This was a classic and very popular toy back then. Now it is a rare and collectable item but YOU can own it right now! These types of machines were made by companies such as Grandstand, Tomy, Entex, CGL, Tandy, Bandai and Epoch to name but a few.

- Game ends when you obtain 1,000 points or when all 3 Missile Launchers are destroyed or when Invader captures G-zone or when you have shot all of your 250 Missiles.
- When you obtain 700 points, one Missile Launcher and 50 Missiles are given as a bonus.
- To start a new game simply switch slide to "off" and then to "on" again.
- If using with iCade or compatible controller, press the iCade button on top left and you can now use a joystick and red fire(5) button.

Community Insight:
We cant believe someone actually created an ambulation for an actual electronic game of the 1970s/80s. Whoever you are, please oh please make more emulations of other games! We will say that the controls are a bit hard to grasp using a touchscreen, but we guess Ill have to get a controller to fix that, however, Im giving it five stars plus plus plus because this is exactly the kind of thing we need in this new digital age. Please let make other emulations of other games and heres a challenge for you, if you can find an old Merlin or a master Merlin, we would just absolutely love it if youve made an emulation for that as well, You might want to try Simon before moving onto other games as thats probably the easiest thing to emulate. And again, excellent we cant say it enough very very excellent work! You should also know that Im a person with multiple disabilities and this more than helps with managing our disabilities thank you for helping out people that have multiple disabilities. This is so needed now.
5/5 game/app. The sound, graphics, controls everything is exactly like the old handheld. We were looking at your other apps and its Amazing what you do, keep retro alive our friend.
Same sounds, look, & game play as the original handheld. The left to right toggle takes a little getting used to playing on a phone but youll be a pro at it in no time.
Our two sons and we played this game on the original device. We finally installed a phone jack on it so the family could get a little peace and quite. Our sons are all grown now with families of their own. But we can relive those days playing space invaders on our iPads.
Since theses games are getting expensive and hart to find, this is a good chance to play them! Thanks.
Just like we remember! Works very well. Like the controls, mostly with 8-bitty.
We have the actual game (Tandy Fire Away). This is one of our favorite games from our childhood. This is just about as dead on as you can get. Great game.
We had this game as a kid . Plays just the same! Great work.
The game is a retro style game. It has very simplistic UI and no fancy graphics. But the game play is very fun. If you are into the retro style game, you get to try this one.
This is a fun retro game! The design is great and reminds us of a game we used to play ages ago :).
