Community Insight:

We really enjoyed this one…good storyline, lots of extra items to search for throughout the game including morphing objects, a nice variety of HOP and the mini games were challenging. The graphics were crisp and the main game and bonus chapter were a decent length along with a secret room after the bonus chapter to look for additional items. Overall great game.

This game was a lot of fun. Thanks.

We have played dozens of these games and this one is very good in comparison. We like the puzzle piece collectibles and the morphing objects, they are tricky at times in this game. As are the mini games but we like a challenge. Dont get us wrong, we only do casual mode but we still like the thought that goes into making the game tricky. You have to go back to scenes many times to use different objects to open things so that gets a little repetitive but so far so good.

One of the best games Big Fish has to offer. Longest game of any we've played in a long time. Definitely worth the $2.99 we paid. Most games aren't half as long and they want $6.99. Good story line and we have to agree with the other reviews…most of the mini games are too easy, we normally refuse To give up on a game until we figure it out. Have to admit this is the 1st game we had to skip 2 mini games. Very enjoyable…highly recommend this one.

We really enjoyed some of the challenging puzzles! Most games are way too easy in these style apps, but this one had a few curve ball mini games we loved! Some monotonous hidden objects but they did a good job trying to change things up by making things morph and not overdoing it. Really long game! Not 100% sure we followed the story line but we were impressed with all of the linked puzzles and the many layers. Not what we were expecting. It was a hidden objects game mixed with a point and click adventure without the options of dialogue.

Game working fine, great puzzles, very addictive, and entertaining.

We have to be honest, we're the first one to complain at mini games being too easy. Now we're going to whine about some of the mini games here were too difficult. To us, and we enjoy playing the mini games, they didn't make sense as to how we were suppose to play. Even after looking at the guide it was just too difficult to figure out. Sadly, and we Really hate admitting this- we had to skip some of them sigh. However, we did enjoy the HOS. All-in-all we thought it was a good game.

Just one of those games you can't stop until you know what happens.

Loved all the puzzles and HOPs.

Really enjoyed it, morphers, puzzle pieces, collectibles and difficult puzzles for the most part. Good story line.

This was not only one of the longest games we have played, but, also one of the best. The introduction of mini-games to reach HOS made them more enjoyable. Only bad point is the use of darkness to hide things. While we understand the challenges it produces,it makes it tougher for us 'older' players to see at all.

We thought it was a long game, not short. We found some of the puzzles on the hard side, but we liked that. We'd recommend the game and we look forward to the next Grey Family game.

Fun from the beginning all the way thru the bonus game. Well worth the money.

We have to admit that since Big Fish went to their greedy policy (after they were bought out), of "No buy until you Try", we Never buy a game without a review. So when a new Grim Tales came out, we waited and waited for a review (a tip of the hat to Dracy!), we were nearing the end of the "discount" period (haha New Big Fish has added a new wrinkle to their Greed Policy: Give the users such a short time to buy that there isn't time for good reviews to have time to finish and have a decent full-review before time runs out and you have to mortgage the house to pay full price). However, let that stand for our soapbox for the New Big Fish, and on with the review: So, having no reviews, we finally had to make up our mind by using the history of "Grim Tales", of which we have purchased every one. Folks, although this game is not for little children, or those queesy about skeletons, and adverse to references to the dark arts or the after world, this is arguably the best Grim ever. Incredible graphics, tons of rooms, great voice-overs, easy transportation via the hint button (no penalty), and a pot that puts many other HO games to shame. It is probably safe to say that Elephant games gave enormous thought and time into this game. Big Fish, if you reviewed your own games before you released them, we might not need reviews. That is why people give you a bad rap. This game, however, was darn near worth more than 5 stars, even considering the few translation to English mistakes. BUY this one, and when (or if) Big Fish ever has a Real discount sale, like we used to see, Buy every Grim title out there.

Once again, took Dracyy's advise and bought the game. Great fun! Enjoyed!! Key West Jessa.

Excellent!! Story line made sense. Graphics were well done. Loved all the little extras to search for. Really enjoyed the music and background sounds. Well done!! Thanks.

We didn't like this game as much as most. Fair map – it does transport. Graphics were just average. Storyline – same. There were too many things to collect for us – morphing objects – bobbing head dolls were pretty cool – & puzzle pieces – & u don't even get to do the puzzle – they do it for you as you find the million pieces. The only way we'd forgiven having to find 3 or 4 puzzle pieces in most scenes would if they'd let us put the puzzle together. We saw no need to in that. It was ridiculously short – even by today's standards. We finished the whole game in a day while taking time out to do other things. Needless to say, we wish we hadn't spent the time & money on it. There were a few saving graces. The HOP'S were fun & different. But there were way too many mini-games. We don't usually like the dang things, anyway – we guess probably because we're not very good at them. We have to rely on the Guidance strategy is & this one had several solutions that were incorrect – or we mis-copied them. Never know, but we usually do pretty well. (With good help). The game didn't help much, either. We still don't know. We hope our next one will be better. We were on a good streak, so now we're afraid we're on a bad one.

Customized refresh rates as fast as 15 seconds. Many inventive HOPs and puzzles. Teleporting Hint button. Long-playing. Morphing, puzzle parts, collections, etc. Another excellent Elephant game.

Held our interest throughout. Enjoyed the variety of tasks in the puzzles and HOS.

We usually don't buy games with no reviews, but this one did not disappoint. Morphing objects, great hops, and challenging mini games. Good story line, too. Definitely worth the price.

Elephant Games did this next chapter in the Grey story (each plays as a stand alone) and once again you have to save the day! Gorgeous artwork, transporting map, labeled inventory custom difficulty. Collect figurines (scattered throughout), morphing objects and puzzle pieces (every scene). One scene has a chinchilla (adorable) no vermin noticeable. Definitely an improvement over the last offering! Verdict:buy.

We liked the game until Chapter 3 the future. We can't get the matches to work. At the point where we just might delete the game.

Deducted a star because the main character's voice was SO slow and annoying, we had to keep skipping the dialog. Cutscenes and minigames were good though; some very good item design.

Another installment in the Gray saga, with more time traveling. It was an enjoyable game. Dracyy, that chinchilla was cute but when it jumped and screeched we thought it was a RAT and almost fainted! You could customize settings on this game. The graphics were dark, gloomy and dreary but still good, and the cut-scenes were exciting! No journal once again! Just notes so we couldn't explain the story if we tried! Objectives were updated at least. The inventory was labeled and interactive and had plus items to assemble. Loading was instantaneous between locations and there was a marked, if so customized, teleport map to transport you, and it was necessary because there's lots to do at each location. Also good for us lazy folks! The HO scenes were varied and not overly numerous. There were a lot of puzzles and games. Some were rotational junk but others were good and there was a super puzzle. Some were games of skill/dexterity. The hint system was of the non-spoiler type. The game was lengthy and had a bonus adventure. Lots of collectibles for those who like them; not us because they are a distraction to the game. The extras had a secret room, which we didn't really care much about either! We deducted a star only because there was no journal and we could have used one and also because the game shut down a couple of times. No fatal flaws though; the gameplay was actually quite smooth and inventory usage was not a problem. We look forward to the next installment. Lynxie sends to Dracyy, KimTwilight and the rest of the DTE.

It was good up until we got a black screen and it won't go away. We really don't want to start over and possibly have the same thing happen again.

Hey BF. You are offering this same exact game again. Why do you do this to us? The version we played is version 1.0.0 released Early September and the version you want us to purchase again is also version 1.0.0 but released September 16th. We were fooled into buying the same game once and that was one time too many. We started a list of games we've bought and now check it twice to see if you are naughty or nice. And we have to post this on the first version because we cannot post a review on the scam version since we would have to purchase it again. Not nice.

This isn't one of the best we've played. It was really annoying that there were several spelling mistakes throughout the dialogue – especially the very first line in the game! Don't you edit the writing? We were sort of bored of the game halfway through.

Average graphics, dull story, too many mini games, we found ourselves really wishing it was over so we just deleted it and missed nothing.

It's pretty good but prefer being given the word for hidden object scenes. A lot of inventory to collect. Took us a while to figure out we need to put list by flowers to collect, which was strange because we would have thought we would use scissors. So not so obvious things to do. It's alright. Just not one we prefer.

UPDATE: we found that this game contained very frequent laborious and tedious puzzles, which were patterned to be mostly rotational and "one move affects another" in nature. In addition, some of the micro puzzles were minute in size causing us to strain our eyes; namely, the one where you move and join insects to follow a pattern. Had this been enlarged, we would have persevered. The most frustrating gripe was that we were forced to skip the concluding puzzle board due to unfavorable user-friendly options. Most puzzles boards confirm your choice to skip certain parts, which we rarely do. So when we could not turn off all of the sun's rays in order to obscure the moon disk's view, we figured we could skip that part. So we pressed the skip button anticipating that option; and to our dismay, the whole puzzle self-completed and the game was over. We are a lover of puzzles so these grievances disrupted our enjoyment. If you love these types of games as stated in the first sentence, then this is the one for you. The premise of this series is typically formulaic in that you travel back in time to catch an evil doer wreaking havoc on your family. Prosaic? Yes. But there is something captivating in each one that is distinguishable as they contain elements of apprehension, mystification, and clairvoyance. Baleful and sinister personas are brought into focus; one in particular is depicted as a freshly stitched-up, wretched beast with a symbol-infested, tattoo-etched face, who reminds us slightly of the ever so notorious, Frankenstein. The graphics/colors are dark, faded, muddy, and visually unappealing; they lack the refinement and delicacy that define sophisticated, adept quality. The artwork is garnished with occult-like, macabre, and ritualistic imagery attributing to an ill-boding and pernicious ambiance. You can customize your settings; the options are standard in nature. The inventory is labeled and interactive; items require assembly. The sensitivity and movement of items are immediate. The map is organized in an orderly fashion allowing for fast, coherent transport to determined location, along with marked available tasks and labeled locations. Transition between scenes is fluid and brisk. The textual information is translated in the form of acquired reading materials; one deficiency is that interactive pop-ups remain open due to these reading materials, which can cause confusion and repeated access as if there is something left to do. A journal would obviate this issue. The HOS are interactive, puzzle-like, and multitudinous; they were imaginative in nature, such as the one where you must find items in the dark room with a flashlight. The puzzles were unvaried; most were mechanical; some tested your dexterity skills. The instructions were unambiguous and logical – mostly. The collectibles were very conspicuous in placement. We experienced no glitches. Our snivels are the substandard graphics, unvarying puzzles, and lack of a journal, which is why we deducted two stars.

Lots of travel need . Noticed that is the way with most new games. Possibly to make the games appear longer. When expanding the screen, the game play is difficult.

The game was just okay. Some of the puzzles were quite difficult which took the enjoyment away. Not really thrilled with this particular storyline. The worst part is that we were 3/4 of the way through the game, and when we tried to resume it, all we got was a black screen. The game wouldn't load. We finally just deleted it. We won't be reloading it because it's not worth starting over again. Very disappointing.

Boring busywork, glad it's over. Quality of games, especially popular series sequels stinks.

Its impossible to play this chapter. Every click opens the puzzle, you probably were completely out of ideas.

Dont buy this for use on iPad. Ours froze during second chapter. We had many discussions with Big Fish and tried all their fixes. Eventually they agreed the game doesnt work well on iPads. They couldnt refund our money because we got it through App Store.

We really thought we would like this game and did in the beginning. But now Im stuck on a scene and it wont move us forward. We used the Hint button and it tells us to use the matches to light the flame, but then the game tells us to use something else. Ive tried rebooting, redoing and nothing works. We paid for this game…no more.

Played the game for a few days. This morning, we get a black screen. Closed all apps. Restarted iPad. Downloaded IOS 10. Still a black screen. Very frustrating to have to delete an app and re-install. Then it's boring to play the game again, to get you to where the app failed.
