Community Insight:
Im enjoying this game. Keeps us occupied.
With many of the HO games, we dont pay a lot of attention to the story. This one (focused on Venice) kept us interested throughout. We also enjoyed the variety of games and puzzles, although some of the puzzle directions could have been clearer. We also enjoyed the graphics and illustrations.
Very good story taking through Venice and talking about Marco Polo. Good mini games and HOPs. Not much horror, so that was pleasant. Just some ninjas. Very cool. Now we even completed it a second time though and it was fun still.
Lots of reviews both ways. We seldom review, but this game makes us want to! We don't know that there's anything groundbreaking, but for us this is a solid game that we enjoy replaying.
We dont get the reviews saying the puzzles were too difficult…?? We did this game with our 4-year-old. The clues and hidden objects made sense and were not so far apart that he couldnt remember where we saw something or needed an object. The gameplay was separated into very manageable sections. Also, it was not creepy or gory, which is nice for playing as a family. Loved it.
H.E. Series has always been known for its attention to detail (each game plays as a stand alone) and this latest offering is no exception! Immaculate details, gorgeous artwork, and interesting facts. Gameplay is smooth, storyline is action packed and around every corner is a new surprise! We never would have guessed Id be going toe to toe with a ninja! Perhaps the best part is all the personality they give those characters you interact with….like the one ninja playing around with the pearl and his sidekick whaps him and tells him to knock it off all without a word. Its just a hoot! Verdict: Buy and enjoy.
Very good game. Another five star-er for Hidden Expedition. Although, a little short. Hopefully, the next one is good.
We like these games a great deal. The puzzles are all different and challenging. The only reason we did not give it a 5 star is because sometimes we will be trying to place an object where it belongs and it takes several tries before it will except it. We enjoy these games greatly especially since they do not have the supernatural aspect that many of Big Fish games have in them. We hope we will find more like this series. These are our favorite type of games. They make us think. Many of the puzzles are very challenging.
We're not sure why, but we are enjoying this game much more than the first time we played it. Maybe we've changed the way we view games. This one is colorful and historical. We love history. The sparkles are extra fun and lovely. Our favorite games have the best sparkles :) If the visual experience is top notch, that's 75% of the game's success, in our opinion. Moving the pieces about was smooth. The mini games were interesting, although a couple were too hard to understand – it seemed parts were missing. The HOPs were much too easy and unremarkable. Good game and still extremely playable.
We only hold back one star because it was a bit short and the puzzles were very difficult. The bonus was VERY short. But it was a nice adventure detective-style.
Get ready for a spellbinding and action-packed adventure in which you are a member of a special network of secret agents who travel all over the world to retrieve lost or stolen artifacts of significant importance from the clutches of evil-minded people. We're ecstatic that this favorite series of ours has returned, and this installment demonstrates why it has the total "wow" factor! The twist of the fictitious feud between Marco Polo and the Zambetti family adds spice to the storyline by giving it a rancorous edge. You have an amazing physical prowess to overcome any obstacles hindering your goals; for example, you will jump out of an airplane to continue your pursuit of the antagonists who have committed the crime. In order to avoid flatness, the settings will diversify in appearance as you steadily mobilize from one country to another. You travel from the exotic ambiance of the tropical Fijian islands; to the neon-lit, high-rise buildings of bustling Tokyo, Japan; to the European flair of Muraco, Italy, where vibrant and colorful rows of buildings line the old cobblestone streets. The illustrations are saturated in stunningly beautiful colors, with many soft and pastel-like shades that evince a serene environment. You will refer to your handy-dandy H.E.L.P. Box a hallmark of this series – for retrieving incoming messages and for other purposes. You can customize your settings. The inventory is labeled and interactive; items require assembly. In custom mode, the teleport map facilitates brisk travel to labeled locations and indicates available actions. Transition between scenes is smooth and quick; no glitches to report. The HOSs are artistically and thematically crafted to suit the storyline. A plethora of micro-HOSs are sprinkled throughout to level up the gameplay. We especially like the story-driven fashion in which you find items in accordance with the sea captain's interrogative inquiry. Some of the puzzles are presented in multi-layered steps, with each subsequent step advancing towards a complete solution. We are pleased that the level of difficulty has been elevated in some of the puzzles to appease the players who prefer greater challenge. We always look forward to reading the Fact cards the more interesting set of collectibles which convey historical information on varying landmarks, inventions, etc., relative to each visited country. If there is a general quibble that we could detect, it would be the lousy, blotchy graphics. But we did encounter an uncharacteristic glitch in which our screen froze up, resulting in having to reboot our iPad. This game, though, for us, is the all-around package. This is the best installment in this series compared to the last few. We suggest at least playing the free trial.
It's OK if he only had to pay 2.99.
Right after we purchased this game went downhill. From the storyline to the mini games that have little instruction and too complex. We finished the main game and tried to play bonus game but was stuck right from beginning trying to put the ring into the mini puzzle. No matter how much we try to drag to the center it wont work. Want our money back.
This game seemed promising at first. We especially enjoyed being caught under water! There were lots of creative problems to solve, but as the game went on, they became harder, not as interesting, and frustrating. The game play is way too small for iPhones. We couldnt scroll through our items without activating the map. Most puzzles we couldnt solve because the parts were too small on our phone. The HOPs were ok, and the story went nowhere. What did the pearl have to do with anything. Guess Im just confused. Dont pay full price for this one, folks.
Although we love this series, we did not love this game. We cannot and will not rate a game 5 stars when we feel it is flawed. You could customize settings. The storyline was easy to follow. There was no cohesive journal but objectives were regularly updated. The graphics embodied the culture of each nation one visited; however they lacked visual acuity and should have been way crisper. Inventory was labeled and there were complex items to assemble. There was a marked teleport map to transport you instantaneously between locations. At each location you must collect a key symbol; the indicator changes from a pale yellow to a bright golden hue. You must also collect fact cards, which impart knowledge and are enjoyable to read. There wasnt a plethora of tasks at most locations. The HO scenes were not extraordinary and it would have been nice if an alternative puzzle had been provided. The puzzles/games were for the most part on the trickier side; we like to find solutions so at least there were some new ones and they werent simplistic. On occasion there were some touch screen sensitivity issues, but they werent overly noticeable. This game was extremely short even inclusive of the bonus adventure. We deducted stars for length, graphics and lack of enjoyment. Our actual rating will be 3.5 stars. Happy gaming, everyone! UPDATE: to those of you who havent played Noir Chronicles, it was a winner.
The hidden key objects dont change color when located. We forget whether or not we have already found a key when moving back and forth. Also, the Hint button usually does not transport to the next scene. It usually states to move on, or words to that effect. The puzzles are complicated, so we skipped most of them. We wish there would be two levels – easy and hard. Too many pieces of equipment to assemble. This bores us. We enjoyed the varied HOPs. Very inventive, and some in-game puzzles within the HOPs. Worth the $3.99 price.
Story not very engaging and the mini games were pretty pointless.
We usually start a hidden object game and want to play it to the end. This one couldnt keep our interest. We finished the game but it has been over a week and we are not that interested in doing the bonus game. Some of the Hidden Expedition games have been great. This one is not.
Unlike previous versions of Hidden Expeditions, this one is extremely hard to play, with very little flow in logic of what to do in each scene. We found ourselves constantly stuck, and Im no newbie. There was one scene where the character the player assumes is handcuffed to chair, yet the next move was to reach a cabinet on the desk which was too far away for anything else on the desk. Hidden Expeditions used to be a safe bet for purchase, and we bought this one before we even began to play. We dont think Ill finish and will delete it. Such a shame. Game designers, please do better next time and dont waste our time and money.
It takes about 10 tries to navigate back without selecting one of our items instead. We were trying to play the arrow game and every time we tried to select the right arrow, the pop up closed. A pity since it looks fun otherwise. Unfortunately is seems like a lot of the hidden object games makers have just written off smaller phones.
