Find out what gamers are saying about JackQuest:

We were hoping for something to match the quality of Goblin Sword as something to play after finishing that game. The graphics, controls, and world set up werent doing it for us at all.

The game was a good 7.5. The start game button is the same as the continue button we think. We pressed on the start game button assuming its the same as continue button and it restarted the 2nd story mode. Kind of like it glitched. Specially since trying to mute the back ground sound and the attacks, it glitches out, takes us to our Home Screen. And the sound is still on. Yikes.

The controls are a major let down.

While we are a fan of platform games. This game has found many cons on our list. If it were free the rating would be 3 stars but considering you must purchase to play we feel we should be less lenient. The health system in this game is beyond lack luster and needs a work-up/update. It is stingy to say the least. Each hit takes away half a heart and you gather hearts as you progress through the story. You can refill hearts with potions that drop (RARELY) or purchasing them from the merchant (EXPENSIVE). This becomes incredibly infuriating when you hit a save point next to a boss with 1 hit until death. The game is fun, but falls incredibly short next to other games such as Celeste. We will change our review if we see the devs work on something to make the game a tad less stingy with the health system.

It says press a button but we see no buttons.

The game is way too short to justify the $6 asking price. There is only one map, three bad guys, only one item (to breath under water), one extra weapon besides the sword, just a few secret hidden places, and a shop that has a few items. The game play itself was great we had no issues with the controls. But, it is just way too short to justify $6. We feel ripped off.

We have 1/4 of the controls showing unplayable.

The developers appear to have fixed the control issue (both the control sizes and responsiveness). Now, the only issue is that the game is short. Aside from trying to speedrun or get a deathless playthrough, theres not much replay-ability.

Hi friendly developer! Your controls are not great… Actually they are pretty bad.

See edit below also: So when we pay 6 dollars for a game we expect it to take more than an hour of playtime to beat. The entire game should be the first level of maybe 10 total levels. The controls are ok if you have baby hands. Developers need to add a feature that allows the user to configure them for those of us whose hands are full grown human sized. We actually loved the game, the design, the side scrolling, action RPG is great and theres even a half-hearted attempt at a story. But the game is so short that we feel ripped off. 0 replay-ability. Once you beat it and know where the secrets are, there is no need to ever play it again. Its a swing and a miss that just needed a lot more gameplay for the price they charge. Edit: Theyve updated the controls so we’ve bumped our rating up to 3 stars. However, the major issue is how short the game is. Wait for it to go down to .99 cents.

This game looks good and we like the style, but the lag is crazy! Its like Im playing in slow motion, then the frame rate corrects for a second then its back to slow motion. Im playing on the new iPad so thats not the issue. We’ve tried other games and they are working fine. We hope we didnt just waste our money.

The game itself is good and we see improvements on the control but the problem is you dont know whats the next mission for you, You just have to run around and around to know whats next , put some objects of whats your next mission is and where you have to go on the map please.

A pretty fun game however the controls are still very difficult which makes defeating any boss nearby impossible. If you try to move left or right and are not perfectly over top of the controls it does not move in the intended direction or doesnt move at all.

See edit below. We agree with the other reviews that the controls need work, but we found it playable and we see the devs are already working on it. We LOVE the game overall. The layout and bosses are challenging and the save mechanism took some getting used to but it works well and makes you think a few moves ahead. Love the pixel graphics. The problem is, we beat the first world final boss Korg, and it froze as he was sinking down. We had to close the app, reopen, and beat him again. Second time it froze with Damsel in Distress Nara on the ground and our pal Jack trying to wake her up. We suppose Ill try again and see if it goes a little further the third time. The problem with that last sentence is that we’ve done it twice and now its easy, which gives you an idea of the replayability. Figure out the tricks, thats it. That said, if the review we read claiming this first world is the ONLY world, Id say its worth $0.99 at most and thats IF the controls and freezes are fixed. Solid three stars so far. Down to one if we cant get past the freeze, and down to one if we do and find thats the end of the game. Here goes nothin Yep. Third time through the final boss, we got through the end scene. We could give it a compelling story in ten minutes; they failed to. And the first world final boss is in fact the only world final boss. Stick with Adventures of Pip, Oceanhorn, Sword of Xolan, Goblin Sword, Grimvalor, and Swordigo.

This game is awesome! The Developer was kind enough to let us try the beta version before it came out and we cant put it down. (Thanks again Crescent Moon). Highly recommended to anyone who likes platformer & retro dungeon style games.

This game brought us back to the days of our childhood! It is pixel perfect and gives us that metroidvania feel on our mobile. Its a fun game. Pick it up.

Controls are a to small and hard to use …. Almost unplayable, they need to be larger. Update helped a lot !

Please, fix the controllers asap. Even using gamevice, it is not responsive.

Bad controls make game unplayable. Looks good but we couldn’t play it for more than 5 minutes. Fell into spikes cause we couldn’t activate the jump. Enemies ran into us because we couldn’t activate the attack.

While the controls can be a bit not great at times. They work for the most part. And its a small hurdle. Very well made game. Very fun and challenging and engaging. And not for the easily angered. It can get very hard. But we love it.

We know its an early game but the controls are way to tight. Jack feels he weighs three tons and you have to press the buttons exactly on the icon to do anything. It took us half an hour to finish the first boss and it was a freaking slime!

Gameplay is good and level design so far is fun. But the controls are so small. How did no one notice this during testing?

Controls are finicky and inconsistent. Its ok so far but not worth $5.

Feels like Jack is wearing weights in his shoes which makes it tricky to time your jumps. Only played 20 minutes and got past the first boss but man are the controls a hit n miss sometimes. We want to spend time relaxing on our break but seems to give us stress instead haha.
