A Glimpse into Klued Up: Board Game Solver

Throw away your pads and pencils, Clued Up will make you a Clue champion.

Clued Up transforms your messy notes into a crisp table, showing you for each card, at a glance: who’s holding it, who’s not holding it, who’s suggested it, who’s seen it and the likelihood of it being the card in the envelope. All you have to do is enter the details of each turn.

If you don’t want to give your opponents a chance Clued Up can go beyond just a smart scorecard. If you enable automatic deductions the app will cross-reference all of the turns in the game and locate cards for you, going way beyond what a human could achieve.

Clued Up works with pretty much any edition of Clue.
Including:
Alfred Hitchcock
Alien Vs. Predator
The Big Bang Theory
Doctor Who
Downton Abbey
Dungeons and Dragons
Family Guy
Firefly
Five Nights at Freddy’s
Game of Thrones
Golden Girls
Harry Potter
The Haunted Mansion
Juicy Couture
Legend of Zelda
The Office
Penny Dreadful
Rick and Morty Back in Blackout
Scooby-Doo!
Seinfeld
Sherlock
Simpsons
Star Wars
Supernatural
The Twilight Zone
The Walking Dead

If you don’t see your edition listed you can use the card set editing feature to create any edition you like and store it in the cloud for others to use.

Instructions
Game Setup:

Enter your name then the names of your opponents in the order they are sitting, starting with the player on your left.

Select if you want the game to automatically locate cards for you. If you select to use this feature, as you record the turns in the game the app will cross-reference the location of cards from all of the player’s responses and deduce for you what cards must have been shown in each go. Be sure that your opponents don’t mind you winning if you leave this switch on (or don’t tell them).

Once you’ve entered the names of the players in the game you’ll be given the option to select which edition of the game you are playing. If you don’t see your edition listed then you can create a new edition. Any edition you create will be stored in the cloud for yourself and other players to use.

After selecting your card set you then have to enter in all of the cards you have been dealt. Enter every card you are holding and then press finish.

Playing the Game:

On the main screen, you have a list of all of the items. Eliminated items are shown in blue, items held by you in green and solved items are shown in red. Underneath the item name, you will see additional information such as who does or does not hold the card, who has suggested a card and who has seen a card. You will also see stats indicating how likely each card is to be the final item as a percentage and with the progress bar under each card.

To eliminate items you need to make suggestions and enter in the suggestions that your opponents make. The app will automatically eliminate a card if it is shown to you and, if you’ve selected to have the game located cards for you, when entering another player’s suggestion, if a card is shown and it’s known that the other two cards in the suggestion are elsewhere or not held by that player the game will automatically eliminate these.

To enter your suggestion you pick the items from the table and press the ‘Your Suggestion’ button. You will ask the player to your left, if they don’t show a card to you press ‘No Cards Shown’ and move on to the next player, if they show a card you select the card from the wheel and press ‘Card Shown’.

To enter an opponent’s suggestion you do the same thing except you select ‘Other’s Suggestion’ and, on the next screen, select the player making the suggestion.

You can manually enter that a player holds or doesn’t hold a particular card by swiping the cell to the left a pressing the Eliminate/Uneliminate button.

The app will tell you when cards locations are deduced and categories are solved.

You can undo your last move if you make a mistake by pressing the menu button and selecting Undo.

Our family thinks you guys should add an accusation button.

Helpful to keep track of potential cards in play, understand need to show adverts. Need a mechanism to change the order that other players are being questioned in without having to reset the game.

We have Clue FX, the electronic model that talks to you. Well, this app WOULD be perfect if you could change ONE THING. When you click on accusation, you should be able to click on who is accusing, and then click who showed what. In our version, you are not accusing just one person of holding 3 cards. You are accusing the whole table and anyone holding one of those 3 cards must show you that card. But this app makes you only accuse one person.

The iPad version of the app Clued Up is fine, but Klued Up does not work right in any of the 21 card sets with 2 players. 21 cards minus 3 for the Confidential envelope leaves 18 cards. So 9 cards per player. The iPhone version seems to think you get 7. So it never calculates anything correctly, particularly rooms. It lets you enter 9 of 7 cards okay but you have to go with your gut and choose a room with 40% odds not 100%. It seems okay with 3 or 4 players. We finally bought another app for the iPhone. We used to graph all this out as a logic problem so this does beat that, but only on an iPad apparently. We were contacted by the developer, so they are responsive, kudos. On box technically the game is for 3-6 players only. 2 player version of the rules include setting aside some cards to look at when no one can prove anyone wrong, as a sort of virtual 3rd player. But the iPad and iPhone apps are still not consistent with each other. The developer said that they may put in a setting. Changing to 4 stars. We only have so many iPads and iPhones around the house when everyone is playing but this at least only effects 2 player mode.

Makes the game easier to play, super fun.

This great because it shows you the percentage and everything for a clue game.

Cant undo a mistake, even the undo doesnt completely fix problems. You need a way to edit a wrong assumption. Too bad it cant just be a electronic detective note sheet, it feels like its cheating. Also we play with younger kids getting more clues than older players and this doesnt work well in that scenario.

Crashes in game & wont reopen. Have to delete/ uninstall then redownload & re put in all the cards & game rounds to play further.

It assume people have certain cards to early so it gets it wrong.

It works really well and its very useful for playing clue with family or friends!

Needs the option to correct the app if the app gets it wrong.

We want to be able to remove cards from play on our own. Im smart enough to know what card is shown without having to watch an add. We did watch an ad once, it hung up on the ad for 5 minutes. We had to close the app and reopen it. Thanks. If we can make our own adjustments, Id give 5*s.

No clue card features and tries to get you to cheat.

Need to be able to simply pay for the app and use it. Not pay every time you use it!

We played two games with it both times we solved it and it was wrong!!!

It updates to the wrong one on many hands. Caused it to guess wrong. Got the game for help, not to be misguided.

It doesnt give you any extra info when correct answer is given.

Our siblings and we love this app and love using it when we play Clue. However, each time we play we get tired of having so show what we have. Its too risky when you have 2 or more things when someone is making a guess so when you show your cards someone automatically knows you have more than one. And its too much work to make a rule about having to show cards instead of showing the phone-we like playing outside and it gets kind of windy. Our older brother suggested that the app should allow you to send one item that you have when its your turn to show any cards you have. For example if we have the candlestick then we can just click show candlestick and itll pop up on the guessers screen or something like that.

This is actually a great app, really should be 5-star. However, we deducted 2 stars, because they do something sleazy. In the description, they tell you that the app will deduce the correct card, based on other peoples moves, which is awesome. What do they leave out…. That this feature costs $1.99…. EVERY GAME. We wouldnt mind paying for this feature, if it wasnt EVERY GAME, and if they were honest and told you that beforehand.

So frustrated. App froze with an ad just as we were to make our. Guess.

The game is not that fun do not use this game.

But heres the problem Can you play multiplayer?

Absolutely amazing app for analyzing the game however we found it takes away some of the fun. Everyone looking at their phones instead of each other and the game. Also it takes away the thinking and detective work that is part of the fun.

We played and the players werent the right categories. It didnt take away cards when both us and the other player used them. It will do its job if you are playing with a giraffe. Make sure your partner is playing for the 2nd time if you are gonna use the app.

If not for charging $2 per game for full functionality itd be 5 stars. Works very well, handy app for playing the game. But $1.99 per game for the card solver is a bit much.

We didnt like it, it made no sense to us it asked us if we wanted them to show us that card so we were choosing what we wanted it didnt make sense.

What is is an authentication token!? We were trying to create a custom card set and there was a glitch were when we were trying to name suspects they were locations! (I clicked suspect as the card type) and we tried to delete this card set because that glitch was so infuriating, but guess what? It said we needed an authentication token! 3 stars out of 5. If this is removed then we will probably give it a better review.

First time we used the app, and the first time we ever guessed wrong. This app is crap. It "deduced" that another player had a room and it was completely wrong. We were pretty sure that it was wrong, but wanted to try the app out. Boy was that a mistake.

Did the in app purchases and was 100% wrong both times. Rip off.

Sometimes when we are shown a card it wont let us tap the card we were shown FIX YOUR APP!

To use all the features charges you $1.99 PER GAME you play. Unbelievable.

$1.99 for a card reveal is to much. Would prefer a one time fee.

The items are not up to date to the new board game.

This game was fun for a while. We liked the part where you can make up your own game.

We got this app and we played a game of clue and won! Im bad at the game and this helped. Its just a shame that there are too many ads.

Its time consuming, kind of fun. However, it has a few kinks. You cant change guess if someone accidentally doesnt show a card. It also has other glitches. But in general it worked ok and was interesting to use.

We tried to play but we got confused.

The single issue with the crappy review given is that there is no offering to remove ads. We dont even mind the $1.99 per game for the solves because you have a choice as to whether you want to spend that money or not but Im uninstalling this immediately because we will not deal with the ads. Which makes us sad because in every other way otherwise, we would love this app.

Difficult to get started but definitely worth it. Let’s everyone cheat at the same rate.

The app is very good–it processes the odds of any of the various cards being one of the 3 required to identify. Really makes it clear how certain it is & lets the user know when it also "finds" a card in someone else’s hand. The bombardment of ads takes what is a practically perfect app and makes it an almost abhorrent money grab. The constant ad bar at the bottom of the app is rather annoying. We were under the impression that, if paying $2.99, there wouldn’t be any ads, though to be fair, it was never promised to be ad free when we purchased it. When the app determines who is holding a certain card, it allows you to know that specific information–if you either watch an ad (which doesn’t always work well in a live game) or pay $1.99. Initially, we didn’t think the $1.99 was a bad deal, but then we found out that fee was for each game played, not a one time expense. And if you spend the money for an ad free game, but don’t finish the game, you’re out the $1.99.

So there’s no way to turn off the ads, and they want $2 for each game you play. Seriously? What a rip off. This should cost $2 total.

It’s confusing and difficult to use. You will spend more time trying to get it to work than you will actually playing and may even hold up the ge for everyone else. Just use the paper.
