Looking for more information? Read a comprehensive review of Legendary DXP below:

We splurged for the starter pack that removes energy ($5), and it was so worth it. The game play is great, graphics are great, plenty of campaigns, good lore. Awesome version. Im used to the marvel board game version so this is a fun change of pace. Well done!

So we love playing the Marvel version of Legendary along with all the others we own (Firefly, Aliens +expansion, Predator, Bug Trouble in Little China) and we know that some of these are Legendary and some are Legendary Encounters but they kinda play the same. We have spent a lot of money on Hess physical games and we would PAY just as much to get this version in physical form. Campaign is tough but figuring out how to beat them is half the fun. Please continue to make virtual content and Ill keep buying it! Thanks for a great Legenday fantasy-ish game. Bill.

We downloaded this game in order to confirm how to play legendary card game with actual cards. It did not disappoint. For a relatively small price point you can play many games that get increasingly difficult and help teach strategy. We also love that you can play other people, more specifically you can challenge friends. We only marked it down because even when playing alone, it frequently loses connection. There have been times when we have to completely get out of the game and come back. But the fact that it brings us back to where we left off makes it a small annoyance and nothing horrible. We love this game.

We love this game- our only wish is that more people were into it.

We originally purchased this, then it changed, and we lost interest. We picked it up again, and was enjoying campaign despite some ui annoyances like the screen getting blocked when you try to view empty discard. But now Im on a level in campaign where Durissa continually pulls cards, so we cant even play, much less when. So thats a game breaker unfortunately. We were enjoying it till this buggy level.

Great reskin of a wonderful game!

Runs smoothly, different forms of gameplay are very fun! In game currency can be hard to come by, but we’ve gotten enough gameplay out of it even without buying expansions, Im not gonna mind spending a couple bucks on some of the expansions soon.

Should be easier for unlocking updates without having to pay :(

To many times it has locked up and made us restart the game or cost us our turn. Waited till the end of our timer for our coop partner to make a choice that it did not show they had. Then it ended our turn while we were still at the waiting screen and could do nothing. Luckily we have not spent any real money nor will I.

There are a couple glitches that need fixing. The multi-player function may as well not exist.

So Ill say first and foremost, we are a huge fan of the Marvel Legendary Deck Building Game. We own every expansion that is available at the time of this review (yes even the Villains and Fear Itself expansions) and we have played several hundred hours of the board game. We will be using words specific to the Legendary franchise, so if you have never played before, it may be a bit harder to follow along. We were excited when this hit the app store as the main problem everyone knows with the physical game is it does take quite a bit of time to set up a new game and clean up afterwards. This seemed like a great way to skip all that and play some Legendary when we were short on time or on the go. However, playing this game has highlighted some of the problems we had with the original Marvel Legendary: specifically, the solo campaign. We play 2 handed a lot, and we were reminded why we prefer this over solo. The arbitrary scoring system that Upper Deck has doubled down on in this entry really creates a level of frustration that feels so unnecessary for an otherwise enjoyable experience. If you are like us and want to get a perfect rating on each campaign level, be prepared for hours of grinding because even if you know the game mechanics inside and out, luck is going to play a large role in whether or not you can get a 3-star rating. It has never made sense to us why a solo player should lose points for Scheme Twists and Master Strikes, since those are literally just part of the game. It should matter more if the player is able to overcome those challenges and still prevent enemies from escaping. It just never feels good to feel like you are building a great deck, but still get a 1-star rating because sorry, the game randomly decided to throw 6 Scheme Twists at you back-to-back at the start of the game. But the real travesty is that as much as we love the Legendary game mechanics (and believe us we do), aside from the agonizing solo campaign grind, there isnt much to do. You can set up games with friends, but unfortunately we dont have many that are interested in seeing a reskinned digital Marvel Legendary. You can play alone with bots, but this grows old rather fast as they just seem to get in the way rather than actually help defeat the Mastermind. We have attempted matchmaking with random players online multiple times, and in about 90 minutes of accumulated queue waiting, we have successfully found a group 1 time. The game has many cosmetic items that are clearly locked behind a pay wall, as they cost a premium currency which you can grind for, but youll earn such a pitifully small amount that it is very clear the intended way Upper Deck wishes for you to gain these items. And the worst part? Loot Boxes. Of course loot boxes. And of course, you can always get repeat items so purchasing and grinding for Loot Boxes isnt even a guaranteed way to get the item you were hoping for. The last topic Ill cover is the Raids. They are somewhat fun, offering unique scenarios. Defeat a really tough Mastermind with a specifically chosen set of heroes. However, the goal of the Raid is to do this as many times as possible. So if you want to climb the leaderboards, you will have to repeat this scenario again. And again. And again. And what is the prize for proving you are the. Person with too much time on your hands? A random cosmetic item. Thats it. And considering it can be something you already own, this whole system just seems like a way to try to give players something new and exciting without putting any actual work into doing so. We’ve been pretty harsh on this game throughout this review but Ill end by saying this: The Legendary formula is fun. The game itself is great and theres a reason why the card game has sold so well and still attracts new fans almost 10 years later. But Legendary DXP with all its Loot Boxes and lack of actual multiplayer content feels like a stripped-down experience. This might be a great alternative to the physical board game if you have a group of friends who consistently will play this together. But for the solo player such as myself, it doesnt offer enough to meet the excitement we first felt when downloading the game. We earnestly hope that Upper Deck will remove some of the Loot Box aspects (or at least lower the price to admission), and perhaps find new events to grow a larger multiplayer community.

Will keep A eye on this game and look forward to updates.

Please have a paid version for offline bot play.

We really like the game but there are some issues. For example when we recruit Assimilate it wont let us play it to KO another Assimilate card. Unless we misunderstand how to play these cards most times it wont let us KO a hero that matches that symbol.

Great came occasional crash, just need to swipe out of the app, when it reconnects you pick back up like normal.

Great digital adaption of the game, but they really need to add an offline option before we will sink money into this game.

Cant just use as guest or with Game Center login. Requires registration with Upper Deck.

Title says it all. We have no idea what to do and it doesnt bother to explain. Uninstalling.

We truly love this app! Our wife and we play 10+ games a day! We are anxious for the new expansion!

A lot like the real game would love the marvel variant as well.

Decent re-skin of Marvel Legendary for digital media. Content is fairly limited, and honestly not convinced more will be added anytime soon. Art is nice, and UI is relatively straightforward on pc and iOS. The game has been prone to freezing or otherwise glitching out since inception, and theres no reason to believe itll ever be fixed. Player base is small, so you need to coordinate with players on discord if you arent playing with friends. Energy gating is fairly severe, so you are quite limited in how frequently you can play certain game modes. We give the app 3 stars because it does provide a mostly functioning way to play Legendary digitally. Otherwise its fairly disappointing.

Glad we didn’t pay for campaign access, hope this saves someone 5 bucks, 2-3 is unbeatable with the scheme and hero’s you get. Hard paywall to get us to pay for the good cards in the pay to win shop presumably. No random games or custom games either, so Im tired if being screwed and uninstalling.

Game just crashes every time we try to play it. We’ve tried 12 times and each time, it has crashed. Very frustrating.

Is a great substitute when you dont want to worry about setting up Legendary, or trying to convince friends new to the game to learn.

If you love Legendary than this is your game. Only gripe is we wish they had the MArval or AVP card decks.

Marvel Legendary is a fantastic, well designed board game. This is that game including a couple of expansions, but with original art and lore. This conversion to digital format is well done and retains the feel of the original (except the setup and putting away of the physical game; a great benefit of digital). The only problem with the game is the massive technical problems. It is a 100% online game. Often that is fine. More often than it should, it means your solo game will crash when your network hiccups. Right now, we cant play because the app says an update is required, and the App Store says there isnt an update available.

Really the text is so small we cant see anything at all we need to take screen shots to see what the cards say.

You could already be playing this truly incredible game. We cant believe how great this digital port from the physical game is. Give it a try and it will not disappoint you.

Great job on this translation of Marvel Legendary into digital app form. We have a great little community on Discord to keep things entertaining in Co-Op and Gauntlet games; and the Raids give everybody a common goal! Looking forward to continued Expansions, animations, and other general game improvements. Hope to see even more players join in our ongoing high score in Campaign is waiting to be topped!

The idea is there and it’s really early in the apps life. The developers listen to the community well, we were apart of the beta and they did a great job communicating with us and updating the game. We’ll deal with early bugs but the game works and it’s fun! Little rough for new players but trust us when we say the dev team is listening to all feedback and they won’t disappoint in the long run! Excited for the next updates!

This would be our favorite game if it didnt short out and need to be restarted so often. Fortunately, the game auto saves perfectly and theres an in-game option to refresh, but when it starts happening every other turn it gets old quickly. Past that… Legendary is our absolute favorite table game, and we’ve run into no situations where the cards work differently than they should. Campaign is fun, and energy system gives you a lot of play value even if you dont want to pay.

We like the game. Its fun. We would happily buy the full game… Except for the fact that it crashes a lot. We couldnt even get through the tutorial because it kept crashing. So we have no idea what is going on. We tried multiple times to finish the tutorials. When they update the game and fix the crashes Ill add a star and buy the full game when they fix the crashes. Ill add the last star once they offer a full buy option that isnt an in-app purchase so that we can share with our family. Great game. Has a lot of potential but is heavily weighed down by the crashes.

We love the Marvel Legendary board game, and was happy to see this app available. Still some bugs getting worked out, but theres a lot of promise. We hope they eventually can get content like Marvel into the system.

This is closest to Legendary marvel. Not encounters.

The games a really fun re-implementation of Upper Decks Legendary system, but holy Hannah, it locks up a lot while playing. Also, Im not entirely clear why even the single-player is always online; it seems like a waste of resources.

We love Marvel Legendary and when we heard that this game existed we were excited. The game is well made and the animations are good. The one thing that kills it for us is the fact that after each turn the game will reshuffle all your cards. There is no discard pile. That might not seem like a bad thing, but it can be. You buy new cards but you hardly get to use them because you are constantly getting the 1star or 1 attack. You can nearly set up combos.

Awesome game but the app keeps restarting and will not let us start a game. It continuously restarts. We have tried deleting and downloading it again but have had no success. We hope they can get this fixed soon.

The game simply crashes on the loading screen on our iPad Air. Forum link is broken. Any plans to fix this?

If the game is having any server issues at all, you cant play. Cant play on your iPad on the go because it requires an ative internet connection the entire time youre playing. A pay to play model for a card game makes no sense. Just let us pay for the game and play it offline. Terrible model for a board game.

We have downloaded the game several times, and it will not load any actual play modes. Tried restarting the game, and tried campaign, training and multiplayer, and all of them show the heroes and villain screen before sending us back to the main screen.

So as a major fan of the board game, we have enjoyed this app. The new expansions have raised the bar significantly! We now can choose heroes/villains. More are offered, and we have to say again how nice it is to not have to clean up after each game. Its exciting!

DXP is a very fun digital adaptation of Marvel: Legendary with original artwork due to the lack of the Marvel license. Dont let that stop you from playing it though because we actually think the original art has its own whimsical charm (Turning Deadpool into a dragon for instance ) It also has a good tutorial and single player content that keeps you engaged and teaches you the game pretty easily. The game also has fairly constant updates, a fun community on discord (which kinda feels like a pre-requisite if you want to find online games consistently.) Although we do kinda wish they dropped the heroes and masterminds for an expansion at the same time. All in all we highly recommend downloading this game if youre at all interested in Marvel: Legendary, and want to play it cheaper although if youre like us you might pick up the physical card game too. Edit: The New U. We is very intuitive and the new single player raids mode is a ton of fun and a great way to level up.

We love the board game version of Legendary and own every expansion(except that cinematic waste of time one). We were really hoping to see a similar game, but instead this one is a mess. . The so-called campaign is just a series of regular games with each chapter against a set mastermind using different schemes and hero combos. There is no story at all, so it amounts to a solo mode with unknown restrictions that you have to spend energy to play. . The raids are ludicrously difficult with almost no rewards and they take half your energy to even attempt. Due to the random nature of the cards, you could lose a raid in 6 or 7 turns without any chance to even learn the combos they have forced you to use. . We dont mind buying expansions and upgrades, but if its just a re-skin of the table top game but with horribly designed restrictions, Ill just go play the physical copy and find another digital time waster.

Legendary is a fun series of physical card games. As for this app? Well, we cannot get past the registration screen. Wait screen of death…
