Mineswifter (Minesweeper) is a Strategy/Puzzle game from Michael McFadden, first launched in 28th July 2020.
It’s rated 4+ and currently has 763+ ratings on the App Store.
What Makes Mineswifter (Minesweeper) Stand Out
Minesweeper – it's all fun and games until that 50/50 guess. So we decided to remove the guessing.
Mineswifter uses an advanced Minesweeper AI to make sure each board is solvable before giving it to you. This lets you skip the nonsense and SWIFTLY go to the boards you actually wanted to play.
PERFECTLY NATURAL
Mineswifter is designed with a modern and beautiful user interface. Customize everything from the background colors to your play style to make the game work exactly the way you want. Works great with split-screen and a mouse on iPad!
REAL HINTS
Every board is solvable, but not every board is easy. That's why we added a hint system that uses the power of the Minesweeper AI to show you exactly which part of the board is solvable next.
UNDO YOUR MISTAKES
Accidentally click on a mine? No problem! Since every board is solvable, there are no game overs – simply click the Undo popover and keep playing. Mistakes add 10 seconds to your time.
STAT TRACKING
The main statistic tracked in Mineswifter is the perfect game, which is a board completed without mistakes or hints. Try to beat your longest perfect streak or your average time!
DAILY CHALLENGES
Mineswifter also offers daily challenges, which can generally be completed within a few minutes. Each one is carefully curated to make sure it's fun and rewarding for both new and experienced players. Check the stats to compare your performance to players from around the world!
This Strategy game offers engaging gameplay and regular updates for mobile players.

Community Insight:
This app is excellent! The UI is minimalist and modern. We love that every game is solvable without having to guess and the daily challenges add a bit of fun variety to the classic game.
The daily challenges take stats on your first try clearing the board, so there is no resetting until completing your first try on the challenges. Anything else lets you reset any time. (The app lets you undo mistakes and keep going.) The app has a setting where we can change how long we press-and-hold tiles to mark them. This effectively eliminates our issues with another minesweeper app we were using.
We downloaded a different free version and immediately got inundated with pop ups, ads and banners. Love this oneall minesweeping and no clearing banners and ads getting in the way of the game.
Great game and we play it all of the time. Its worth the little bit the money the developer asks for it. Well thought out. Your first click is NEVER a ours and is ALWAYS playable! Love the daily challenges and now crave just the most difficult ones because Ive played so (too) much :-). Its addictive in an innocent way because it is a challenge. If you play without using flags you will still have to guess unless you can keep a count in your head, which we can not unfortunately but after a while you can usually guess fairly accurately. Do yourself a favor and read up on the tricks of the game to make it go a bit smoother for you. Ie: 121, 1221, 11. Again, great well made game.
In a sea of dated Minesweeper apps, this modern take achieves perfection.
Absolutely love this app. The daily challenges are fun and the user experience is wonderful. The themes are all cute, but we do wish there was a dark mode option for those bedtime procrastination games. Otherwise phenomenal.
When you know theres a solution, you are forced to learn patterns you may have missed in normal minesweeper. Thus this makes you better at the game! There is a whole class of probability problems which are necessarily excluded from this game, but thats okay.
Clean, simple and integrates just the right amount of gamification. Great app.
We love this app and it makes minesweeper so much more fun. But could you please please please show us the time average only for perfect games when we get one for the daily game. If we get a perfect game in seven minutes and the average is four minutes it takes away some of our satisfaction from getting the perfect game because it makes us feel slow even though we dont know how long those people would have taken if it was only perfect games.
Great game. One suggestion: It would be better if the game allowed you to scroll a little more towards the edges. It is hard to get a tap on the edge squares to register.
Our problem with minesweeper was always that youre forced to guess. Imo, that should never be the case in a puzzle game. This variation did exactly what we wanted out of minesweeper. If we were able to request one change to this app, it would be to add an ability to place dummy flags. When nothing on the board is jumping out at us as a guaranteed bomb/free cell, Ill place down some flags as a non-commital guess and see what the board looks like with that permutation. Sometimes, Ill reach a paradox that proves the starting guess cant be possible so we know a flag cannot be there and can uncover that cell. Occasionally though while doing this strategy, Ill missclick somewhere on the board (which is easy to do with thumbs on a touch screen) which can cause our non-commitall guesses to be committed. Which can result us in losing the game off a missclick. If we had a way to place dummy flags that have a different colour and/or shape (maybe a question mark), we could use this strategy for visualizing the board in different possible configurations without being at risk of a missclick losing the game. Thank you.
Great app. Our only gripe is it does not have a custom difficulty setting.
Flag toggle box needs to be bigger. Constantly misclicking mines thinking Ive toggled the flag button.
Classic game. Very addictive. But the controls are finicky sometimes. Its very frustrating to lose a string of perfect games because the app didnt decides the long-touch you did to flag a tile was actually a short tap instead. Kaboom. Except our finger is usually still right where we put it. Oh well. Fun game nevertheless. But it would be nice if it only blew us up when we deserved it.
This take on the old ours game actually improves on the original. While most of these games in the App Store are a lazy rip-off with no functionality and worse game mechanics than the original, the developer of this gem actually put some thought into it. We sense they must be a fan of the game :-) Simple yet powerful, we highly recommend Mineswifter.
We played the free version and it was so brilliant we felt bad not paying for it so we did. We havent even tried it yet but based on the other reviews, Im sure it will be great. The one game we played so far on the hardest mode available was solvable but not easy. We got stuck at a few points and questioned whether it was really solvable but decided to try and logic it out and figured out that we could. We found the flagging and uncovering function to be a tiny bit clunky but apparently thats customizable in the paid version so Im sure Ill manage. It was nonetheless a clever scheme and the biggest issues were the limitations of the phone rather than the app. Ill try the pinch to zoom and see how we like it. It is refreshing to be able to play minesweeper and devote your full intelligence to the puzzle instead of just clicking through a 99 ours field that will inevitably rely on guessing right at multiple points. This app is a gem.
Being able to know the game wont end in a stupid 50/50 is so relieving. We wish the game board had some padding around the outside though as sometimes we have difficulty clicking on the squares at the edge of the board.
Get rid of new game confirmation! Otherwise an excellent game, could be 5stars were it not for the double click process to start a new game.
Love the no guessing mode, and very well designed. Looks great, colors are all distinguishable, eveything you'd expect.
We have had several circumstances where a guess needs to be made to continue the game. We used the hint feature to make sure there was not a solution but it brought us to a tile that could not be figured out without using hint. (Edit: Im an idiot it was solvable).
This is the best version of Minesweeper for iOS we can find. We cant fathom why it doesnt show up immediately on search for Minesweeper. Theres no ads, a super clean interface, and really nice statistics. We love this version and it might honestly be our favorite on all platforms.
But some maps are frustrating, there will be some that have mines that are surrounded by mines that have no number attacked to them.
The best implementation of Minesweeper.
We have learned so much about minesweeper strategy by playing this. The interface is fantastic. Making every game solvable fixes the biggest annoyance we had with minesweeper and on top of that makes it much easier to learn strategy because you know there are no 50/50s. The hints tell you where you should be looking, each time we use it we learn something new! If you asked us to come up with one thing that could be improved, we could not. Simply fantastic.
Good UI, very responsive, daily maps are fun. Just wish it had a customizable board.
It would be nice to have the option to visit far past challenges or more challenges. Replayability isnt as good when you completed all the latest challenges and Advanced mode isnt very fun.
Play the daily boards everyday. The one thing we would like is a breakdown of where our time falls in the distribution of everyone elses time. We can see the average solve time and the fastest time, but am we in the top 60%? 80%? Thats what Id like to know :).
Nothing else to say besides this is entirely worth your time.
Too often, we reach a point where there seems to be more than one set of possible bomb positions based on the information given, and must simply click on a button at random. We're willing to believe that we might occasionally miss some clue, but not this often. We end up clicking at random, rather than applying logic.
On one hand, its just minesweeper, what else can really be said: however this app is super clean and well designed. It makes it really easy to jump into games. It tracks your win percentage and perfect game streaks. Makes it a challenge to try and improve your board clear times. Im addicted to it just because its so easy to start up a new game and play.
We wish we could share a photo of our current session, but we're forced to guess. We absolutely hate guessing in minesweeper, but hey algorithms aren't perfect. This app has a lot of polish and it easy to use.
Its hard to find fault here. Minesweeper is a simple game thats been done many times, but knowing that every level can be completed without guessing has made us stop and think longer, learn new patterns, and play more often because we dont feel like the board is rooting against us. Add to it the fact the the interface is pretty much a perfectly polished app – graphics are great, pinch-to-zoom works, and the options for how to flag mines vs reveal spaces is customizable makes it hard for us to even suggest improvements.
The latest updates have been weird. One caused crashes on launch. The next one fixed the crash, but made the colors look hideous. Please fix. We use increase contrast setting on iPhone for preference. Dont change colors of the app just because. Bad move.
Game is amazing especially the daily challenges, although the hold to flag seems a bit finicky. Hope sooner or later we get an option to change the sensitivity or how long/hard we have to press to flag a tile.
This version of a minesweeper game delivers exactly what you want. The controls are natural, the daily challenges are fun, and the boards are always solvable. That way, you dont get to a place where its a roll of the dice on a 50/50 chance of where a ours is. Highly recommend.
No-nonsense app that doesnt waste your time with end-of-game surprise failures. Slick interface with customization options. It has right click support for trackpad/mouse use on iPad. No ads. Its well worth a couple dollars. One nitpick: it would be nice if their privacy policy clarified use of analytics/trackers. Otherwise, they dont seem to collect personal info.
Honestly the best version of Minesweeper ive ever seen, in presentation and gameplay (it fixes Minesweepers most annoying trait!). For the price of Free, you really cant beat it. This app made us finally learn how to play Minesweeper, and now Im pretty much addicted and the developer support is astounding. No complaints.
This is THE best game of Minesweeper Ive ever played, and its super accessible on iOS. Im a stickler for UX and Mineswifter does it well. Looking at our Screen Time right now, we played this game for 11 hours 7 minutes last week; Ive gotten more value out of this game than any AAA title Ive played on PC or console. Even if youre familiar with Minesweeper but never loved it, give this app a try.
Relaxing, beautiful game! Love it.
Well made, best minesweeper Ive found for iPhone/iPad.
We play this literally every day. Hands down the best version of Minesweeper since Windows XP. Lightweight, easy to use, intuitive, and works on every Apple device we have. Big fan.
Great UI, looks nice, play is very intuitive. We love the way it guarantees that the mines are placed in a way that the entire board can be solved without any need for 50/50 guesses. Knowing that, it adds an extra challenge on harder levels to think through the possibilities and deduce at least one free or ours square that then opens up more clues. If you havent played this enough for that to make sense, try a few games and you will see what we mean. Literally hours of fun with this game.
Love the game, and have been playing since close to release. Feels like something has changed in the most recent update with the length of time needed to distinguish between a clear and a flag. Im suddenly clearing many squares that we intend to flag, but didnt have this issue before.
Great, simple app! Really fun and responsive without any lag whatsoever.
We loved playing this and windows 95. This is a beautiful revision of that game. The only thing missing is the ability to disable undo. If we hit a ours, we would like to not be able to undo and continue playing. Please add the ability to disable undo. Still a great game though.
Love the game! We have two bites of feedback; 1. Separate vibration options. We like the feedback when we long press to place a flag, but not when we move around the screen. 2. Create an option for a portrait orientation advanced board. A landscape board on a portrait screen is not ideal.
This is hands-down the best version of minesweeper that we have ever played. Brilliant work.
Its exactly what we were looking for, and even though we will probably not use some features, its really nice to have them there.
Its minesweeper done right. If youve ever liked minesweeper or just puzzle games in general its worth a download.
Simple and clean minesweeper without ads or gimicks. Perfect for killing time.
