Hear from the Players – Mini Gal4Xy Reviews

Find out what gamers are saying about Mini Gal4Xy:

They really were able to get all of the 4X experience that you were looking for. Its very simmer down though. Games only last a few dozen rounds. You have to make all the same hard choices that you have to make in much more advanced and lengthy games though. Each of the many races is just a little bit different from the others to make replay a thing. Overall we found it well worth a few dollars we spent on it, and we would recommend it to anyone who is interested in the genre. Our only bit of feedback would be to include more instructional material within the game. Once you get going you pretty quickly figure out how the interface works. But at first the icons and numbers wont make very much sense to you. Some of the technologies you can research are also a little confusing at first and could use some text explanation to smooth out the learning curve. But we were able to figure it out by just trial and error. Since the games are so short, you dont have to invest your life into one game to figure out how some thing works.

Very fun simple little galactic 4x. Nice array of technologies and upgrades. Races vary, but not widely. Relatively simple to pick up. The problems: -arbitrary 20/25 turn limit to the game. Why was this added? This adds nothing. You cant finish a game in that amount of time. Frustrating. – in game costs are waaaay too high. To get higher scores you need, essentially, to colonize planets. The population costs increase with every planet you colonize, but your population growth rarely increases along the same rate. With only 25 turns until the game simply ends, this becomes a random chance of winning; if you get good planets with huge resources bonuses, you win, otherwise, you lose; the VAST majority of games will not yield a start good enough for a win. -combat with the AI is broken. The first game after the tutorial, you CAN NOT harm the enemy. You can build 4 ships, each vastly strong than the enemies sole ship, and you will still lose. One game, the ai was able to find our home planet and occupy it while we were barely able to build a single ship – space bandits setting. Our one ship, though numerically equal to the enemy, was obliterated, and the AI proceeded to kill us. This was turn 6. It was at this point we quit. That is simply sill, and utterly killed any enjoyment we had. TLDR: the game has promise and could be great, but it current has a few BLARING flaws that make it almost unplayable. To the devs: we really want to like this game, but pleeeeease get rid of the absurd turn limit; that really kills the game. Its pretty clear you did not have a lot of play testers.

We really enjoy playing this game. Its very quick and we find its addictive to try to beat your last score. We are not sure If its more Strategic or tactical but it did fun to play. We would like to see multiplayer added.

Game repeatedly freezes in starship screen if you click on a starship thats out of moves. Looks like fun if they ever fix that bug, but its not playable now.

Brilliant game, really distills the most fun aspects of x4 into a popcorn experience …. Do need to fix the loss of focus crash, as well as possibly making it a little easier to unlock different maps and races, for a paid game (non f2p) it does feel a little too difficult to unlock new maps and races, while we agree with the core idea still not enough to detract from 5 stars, and im sure things will be adjusted / fixed in the future.

Game is very fun, opens up nicely as you progress. HOWEVER, it desperately needs an update to stop it from crashing if it ever loses focus. The crashes delete saves and ruin games. Its only the sheerest determination that is keeping us playing this right now. When this bug is fixed, itll be stellar.

We do like the execution and what the developers are going for. However, we keep running into a big bug when we pause the game mid-way through to do something else on the phone, (iPhone 8 plus), it has to re-load the app, and we then our save game. 80% of the time, after loading our last turn, the game glitches and Im left seeing a blank star field with no planets. We’ve tried about 10 games or so, and finished only one. Id love this to work, but we cant play it. Bummer.
