Like for real. MadHead Games has moved onto to bigger pastures, exiting mobile games and ending some of the best titles, including this one. Nice long game, involved and clever. One of three with the Alice/Belle/Pierre storyline. We will miss MH and its innovative approach to mobile games.
Played on an iPhone 6 Plus Im a huge fan of Lewis Carrolls works, Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking glass. We also became a huge fan of Big Fishs imaginative narratives through their Dark Parables collection. So we were totally ecstatic to give this a shotand it did not disappoint. Just so you get an idea, Im more of a casual player when it comes to big fish gamesI enjoy the mini-games and hidden objects stuffbut all in all, its the experience, atmosphere, and narrative we enjoy most. This is the 3rd game in their Nevertales series. First off, we love how closely knit this game is with the other games. But back to this gamewhat we like is how they immerse you into their world. We enjoy the first person perspective and how they capitalize on it. You do feel like you are looking through the protagonists eyesfrom swimming underwater with scuba gear and mask, to fighting knights with bows and shieldsto even the transition between screensits just really good. Another thing we like is their blending of both Carroll booksfor those familiar with it, its an added joy to see how they used itand the fact that they allude to other tales, too. Finally, we did enjoy the placement of the puzzles and hidden objectsit made sense, flowed with the plot welland some of the ways they did the hidden objects was smartI didnt even realize we were doing a hidden object portion until we had thought about it more (such as the Alices mother giving you the battle plan). All in all, Big Fish has another winner with this oneAnd we love how they made use of the Queen of Hearts and the Red Queen from the Carroll books.
So, everyone but us adored the first installment in this series. We didnt hate it, but too few mini games, and seriously repetitive gameplay. This one upped the ante. Some repetitiveness, like the several storybooks where you find two symbols at a time. But otherwise very original. The mini games are not as many as Id like, but boy, the ones they have are awesome! Multilayered puzzles, that we like figuring out on our own, but if youre stuck or want more instruction, thats available as well. Just like the first Nevertales, the extras are impressive. You can go back and find any collectibles youve missed after the game. Finding all of them opens the Red Heart Casino. There you can play Solitaire 2 ways, Blackjack, Forklift games, the Target game again, and an infinite version of Gears avoiding obstacles as he flies up the tower. Then, if you get 500+ points in the Casino, you get access to a large jigsaw puzzle. Throughout the game, in addition to collectibles in each scene, you also find morphing objects in each Hop. After the game and bonus game are played, you can replay the hops to collect any morphing objects you missed, and also get 3 stars in every hop (which you get an achievement for.) The only achievement we missed was to look at every note. We did good early on, but once the action becomes intense, and we dont need to refer to the notes to know what to do, we stopped looking. Unfortunately you cannot go back and look at the notes after the game, so make sure you look at all of them in-game, if you want that achievement. Overall a nice riff on Alice through the looking glass, with Mallek thrown in as the ultimate villain. If you can stand more story than gameplay, this one is definitely worth it!
Friends & Followers, One of the best hidden object/adventure games this reviewer has seen in a long time: Intriguing plot, beautiful scenery, nice background music, interesting characters, along with many twists & turns in the plot. And what a long playing time that can be extended to multiple days if one so decides to play the additional "two bonus chapters" as we like to call them. There is the option of visiting a casino, amoung other places, if one racks up enough casino chips/money and/or points after making a card house with all the hidden object cards that were collected throughout the principal story-Brilliant! Whilst there was no actual voice perpetuation by the characters themselves, and the storyline was disjointed at times, this game is well worth investing in, sale or no sale! This series just gets better and better! We’re really enjoying the continuing story line between games. Clever and unique! PLEASE give Gears his own little adventure!!
We cant get past the first part. When the game downloads it doesnt allow the top row of keys to function on the keyboard. We’ve tried restarting phone and uninstalling and re-downloading game. Please advice on what to do to fix the problem.
We’ve seen 2 pages go into the in-game journal, but when you go into the journal, there’s nothing there but a wooden base.
Dont bother buying. Even if you can solve the flower puzzle, game wont take solution and you are stuck.
We bought the game and cant even play because the top row of the keyboard does not work so we cant put in the password CARROLL to even begin! Highly upset , please fix ASAP!!
When you finally figure out the next move chances are it wont work. They give you a mechanic owl in the game; sometimes it wont fly when you need it to. Had to put flowers in shadow forms for a mini game; figures had to be put in just so.. Meaning we fought it for a couple minutes and deleted the game. We paid full price for it going off a couple old reviews. We are going to assume the game was built for one form of OS, and now that we have had multiple updates to apple OS the game wont properly work.
Why doesnt this game load the top row of the keyboard? We cant even play past the very first scene because a password is required that needs some letters from the top row of the keyboard and it wont let us type them!
We just like the puzzles but we find it difficult to play if your not sure how the puzzle is suppose to be played. The guide wants you to download something else to figure it out. We’ve already payed for the game, shouldnt the strategy guide come with it? Not really interested in the story line just like the puzzles. The older games were much more user friendly.
We paid for a tutorial with our game and NEVER got it!! Right on,the first few frames we went to find the tutorial and nothing. If you are going to have the tutorial you should put it into the game. Not have to bother with finding the tutorial!! We want our $2.99 back!!
Great game, but can’t get the card by the maze so we can receive the black axe. Playing on iPhone. Please FIX!!!!
