As a fan of the original Octopath Traveler, Im digging this game. Its faithful to the style and stories of the main games but changes some elements to better fit the mobile platform. You can breeze through the story without paying and the pay elements are not obnoxious. Highly recommended!

This is the first review we’ve written, but with over 70 hours in this game, we feel its warranted. Its a solid little gacha RPG. The story is shockingly good- although our favorite is the first Wealth storyline. Theres a lot of hours you can put in this game, the combat is really fun and engaging, the gacha mechanic feels really fair. We play this game every day. We havent gotten to the most current storyline yet, but we love this game. The graphics are charming, the soundtrack is catchy and endearing. We dont have really anything negative to say about this game. Most of all, the combat is very unique. We’ve never played the OCTOPATH games, so we dont know if its similar, but we really enjoy the style. This is a great game, so give it a shot. You wont be disappointed.

We have a ton of low level equipment, why isnt there a system to sell it? We really wish we could sell old things we dont need or wont use.

We have really enjoyed the game and love how frequent new content is added. Though after getting a backbone controller for our phone, we were surprised that the app doesnt support using a controller to play. Please add controller support in a future update.

We understand the ads. Not complaining about their presence. But when the ads make the game freeze and we have to restart the game, making it impossible to access the contents that comes after the ads, then its a huge problem.

Great game! Dont want the adventure to end.

Square enix has done it again. This was totally worth the download. 30 secs in we love it already.

As a solo RPG, the story takes the front, not the game mechanics. Even with the sound off, the storys pace and connections are enjoyable and sensible.

Wish there a new octopath traveler game soon on switch or somewhere else a 3rd one pls.

Controller support for this type of RPG would be greatly appreciated.

We cant even play this game more than a day because every time we pick it up there is an update we have to download.

The game looks great, and we really enjoy the graphics and 3D/2D environment. The combat system is intuitive, and theres definitely a lot to do. But the biggest, most fun ruining issue we have with this game is: crashing. It crashes a LOT and more than a few times the game has crashed RIGHT AT THE END OF A LONG BOSS FIGHT we’ve been working on for a half hour. This is a game that takes real world currency, and we are really not inclined to spend money on a game that might literally spaz out and take our money, but then crash before rewards are rendered. Its very annoying, and we’ve only put a few bucks into it, but the crashing issue makes us hesitant to spend a penny more. Just get the console version and stick with that, it wont crash as often and youre getting a much better experience with the OCTOPATH franchise.

A hand-crafted game. The pixels dance before your eyes with dazzling graphics. A more nostalgic high definition that other companies should be envious of. Everything is amazing. The music is above par. They have brilliant voice actors and the scripts are lovingly rendered in story vignettes. The gacha system is charming. Found our band. Lovely charming characters. We highly recommend this game. This is the reason we compose chiptune game music. Square Enix is a standard in the industry. This charming game OCTOPATH Traveler deserves your attention. IanXIlyana approves!

Wow, this game has been exceptionally well converted to mobile. Im really impressed with the way they implemented ads. Makes you actually want to watch them. Story so far is great.

A full Octopath experience that you can play at your own pace. Play as little or as much as you want.

Loving the game thus far, reminds us of the original on Switch. The music, the combat, the visuals, the class systems, the story-telling, all excellent. The only thing Im struggling with is understanding the Guide shop and how it works; we know its how you guide new party members to your party, but we dont particularly understand the Step system yet. But we love the rest of it so much that Im sticking with it. Seriously grateful to get to return to this game world on mobile. We’ve been under the weather the past few days and having this to play on iPhone has been so wonderful!

We’ve never written an App Store review in 10 years of mobile game. But we just wanted to say that OCTOPATH Travelers of the Continent is a great experience. For being a mobile game its story and attention to some small details make it enjoyable for what it is. This is free content, we played the main story without any purchases. With that in our we had to write something because as they state when you load this game its a single player experience which for mobile gaming can be less lucrative in terms of monetary gain. But perhaps this iteration was just made on the side as advertisement to lead people to the main series. Whatever the case our only complaint is the lack of challenge scaling early on. For example if the first main story the player chooses gets them to around level 25. Then instead of that being the case for most of the stories have the subsequent main stories scale to maintain challenge. However early on the main attraction is supposed to be the dialogue anyways, but we could see some people who are more here for the gameplay lose interest early on if theyre just breezing through fights thinking its not gonna get harder. Regardless we think this is worth its price (your time) and has definitely made us want to purchase the main series soon.

You will NEVER get the 5 star characters and you have to pay to get them . And its very expensive & still a chance to NOT get them. You cant skip , have to go threw EVERY CHARACTER story line.

This game is so good, the stories, the characters, its just so amazing, however, we would like if they could make it so that you could turn down the game volume in the settings, but it is still a amazing game. Also, how did you guys come up with this?! Its amazing, or should we say Marvelous?

It is an amazing game just like the game on the switch; it is also outstanding. The game pretty much speaks for it self of how good the game is.

At the time of writing this review, we have been playing for 391 days and have logged 681 hours of gameplay. We play every day. We have beaten Octopath Traveler 1 a few times and Octopath Traveler 2 once. We love the series. We think this is the best JRPG that is available for mobile gaming at this time. There are a number of assets taken from the original games but also those that were custom made for the mobile game. Same things goes for the music, and Yasunori Nishiki, who did the music for the console games, composed music for this game as well and his compositions are all excellently done. The critiques we have for the game are: 1.) The micro transactions, while optional, are not generous and a player can easily spend large sums of money trying to get characters from banners. The guidance rates from the free banners are extremely low. You often have to pull from a specific banner 200 times to get the banner character for free, and the draw rate is so low that you very well could draw that many times and not get them. 2.) Some of the side quests, called traveler stories, for 3 star characters especially, are redundant and unoriginal. Not sure why the developers wrote the same plot 8 times for each of the 3 teams of 3 star characters. 3.) Drop rates for materials used in-game to upgrade items are very low and can take forever to farm when you are trying to upgrade weapons to their maximum levels. Overall, we enjoy playing each day and will continue to do so as long as the game is in development. We do wish Square Enix would improve the guidance rates of characters in banners and be more generous in general with the game, but we still like it and enjoy it.

We played the first octopath game prior to this game and we really enjoyed it. However when it came to the mobile game, it is significantly more accessible and there is honestly more content than there is in the first game. The first game was perfect and we’ve even replayed a couple time but the phone game is so much fun. Its similar gameplay yet a different story and a completely unique and engaging storyline. We love this game and it is completely underrated. 10/10.

The game is good and its core is fun. BUT, it is really painful when the dialog is not skippable and keep running into loading circle upon browsing through different menus. We just want combat after combat, but now its like combat for 5 mins and you are forced to click through stories for 10 mins for next battle. REALLY PAINFUL PLZ FIX.

We cannot log into the same account on both our iPad and iPhone. This should be easy and effortless. We love playing this game! Please fix this!

The game is all around very beautiful. The only problem is that for some reason, the app version of the game is missing its English dub. We know that it has an English dub, because we just watched a video that had a clip of the game with its English dub.

Cmon dawg there are TWO games that arent on mobile, pls just add it.

Good lord this game is excruciatingly slow. Interesting pixel retro during gameplay mixed w gorgeous illustrations couldnt save this one for us. Im all for available backstory and investment into characters, but we couldnt even make it thru the setup to the actual start of the game. Maybe Ill try again when we have more patience!

Its. Ok we’ve been a fan of the final fantasy series since it first came out. We love the side projects square enix has made, however we’ve tried this one 3 times now and to be honest, we’ve fallen asleep everytime. Its sloooooooooow. Not even enough action to grip you. Im gonna give 5 stars because we love the company. Just think we dont like this one.

TL;DR: Game is good but you have to start over every time you get a new character. Even though this is a GASHAPON. And the entire POINT of the game is to COLLECT characters. Nobody has the 20+ hours it takes to get the characters good enough to actually use. Octopath is a genuinely amazing game with good storylines and amazing art. Its gameplay is generally good – but the leveling system is truly horrendous. Every single character you get you have to level up from 1, which would be fine – except it takes about 4 hours to reach level 15. Level 15 is low. There are 6 character slots. Now in the beginning you can level them all up at once, theyll all level up at about the same rate. But the moment you get a better character? Well all of the trash heroes you started out with will still be wherever they are but that new hero will be at level 1. Hours and hours will be spent leveling up that 1 good character (you cant beat the monsters required to level up and finally theyll be good enough for an actual quest – except, uh oh! The trash characters you started out with cant beat this boss or whatever. And now you also have another good character, oh and now you have a bunch of good characters! But oh no! You need to swap out characters to defeat certain enemies and most of your characters are low level because it takes hours and hours to get a low level character to a still low level? Great. Back to the grind. Plot? What plot? All we know is kill monsters for 10 hours so our low level hero can be over level 20 (which is still relatively low). Yeah. Like the game but geez. Who has the time. Or the patience.

Love the game, but please add controller support!

We dont really post on reviews but we will say the game is good, the story is cool, the fighting system we think is better then the PlayStation game, when Im playing the PlayStation/switch version we get confused sometimes bc Im used to the mobile version also. The Mobil version has better gameplay then console. The only downfall we feel is getting the rubies, they should offer little more rubies daily, even purchasing rubies is not worth is to us, we play a lot of mobile games and the rubies they offer for the money is not close to worth it. They asking way to much money. 99.99 for 1k. Rubies that 5 summons, we would give it a 5 star if they higher the amount given for rubies.

Hope to launch internationalization language adaptation.

We really hate having to redownload your entire game every month. We dodnt even play last month because of it. Then we finallu update 3 days ago, just to have to redownload the whole friggen thing again today. Do you really have to overhaul clientside every 28 days.

The story is awful and slow. Just spent 15 minutes in a single cutscene. Please just let us skip your horrible writing. In ordered to get the character you want you have to pay at least $100, and even then there is often a chance you dont get them. We cant believe that anyone would spend real money on this game. The actual gameplay isnt horrible, but it cant save it. We spend almost as much time mashing through text as we do in combat.

This is one of our favorite games but we would love a better one controller support please and thank you.

They need to flag it as compatible with Mac and Apple TV for full ecosystem support, and add controller support for more laid back play.

Story + Soundtrack is wonderful But 1-3 star is useless even 5th awakening 4 star is useable when 5th awakening 5 star is so-so without awakening but 3rd awakening is usable and 5th awakening is useful And The worst is step-up banner (or rate-up banner) can only do with paid gem with additional gem which make it worse than JP version Without 8 4 star with all 5th awakening, dont think you can beat even 1st round-up boss in story mode.

The app force quits during pvp due to an exploit. Even though its not your fault the devs treat it like you withdrawing from the match and it just keeps getting worse. Dont waste your money until its fixed.

Unskippable cutscenes and now they added game pass and Unskippable ads.. We might as well sit and watch a movie!

When we were first introduced to OCTOPATH traveler on the Nintendo switch by our mother, we are mediately dived into a Ophilia, The Cleric thats not just at the music and all of the games is amazing we’ve played every single Octopath traveler game we havent beat the final boss in any of them yet but if you havent listened to any of the soundtracks yet you are missing out.

The story, the characters, the turn-based fighting. This game is the best. If you are a FF7 or Suikoden or Trails fan, play this game! You will love it too!

Really enjoy this game. Tons of content/mechanics/stories. Dont judge it till you complete all 3 chapters of first part of the game. After it this game just open her doors of magic, thanks to SQENIX<3 PS would be great if you add some customisations for our beloved heroes.

We can not watch them for rewards.

Been playing off and on for a bit,I would love this to be a controller supported game! It would be a much smoother game and would deserve our 5th star.

This is a very well structured RPG experience. On top of that there tons of content that only gets more challenging as you progress. We give it 4 stars only because you have to draw characters for awakening stones that enhance your characters and Im not really a fan of making a core part of the game contingent on the gacha aspect of the game. This is somewhat remedied though by the game giving you a free gift of 10 rubies everyday, getting them as quest/arena rewards & the dev team giving out hefty numbers of rubies during events. Even still though youll find yourself hesitant to use them as you never know if the next draw event will have a better character. Despite all this you could play the game with whatever characters as they are all quite strong, so the rubies dont have to be a make or break factor.

Please!!! We would love controller support!
