A Glimpse into PicaSim – Free flight simulator
Learn to fly radio controlled gliders and powered planes in this highly realistic flight simulator. You can use it to practise aerobatics, have a lazy fly on a rainy day, or challenge yourself with tasks such as races.
This free version has all the simulation features of the full version, but just has a handful of planes and sceneries for you to try. It also includes one race. It focuses particularly on simulating soaring flight – with realistic models of wind flow, turbulence and thermals. You can fly with AI/computer controlled planes too, keeping you company in the air.
The full version includes lots more planes (powered, including a quadcopter, as well as gliders), sceneries and races.
The sceneries include a variety of slope and flat field sites. Some are panoramic, with high graphical quality, but a fixed viewpoint. Others are 3D scenes where you can fly in or behind the plane.
It is highly configurable, so you can create and explore new terrains from inside the app, as well as adjust settings such as the wind modelling, aeroplane settings (including size and ballast) etc. You can create your own planes and sceneries on your desktop computer and import them into the app (see the support website).
If you’ve never flown a radio-controlled plane before, you’ll probably find it hard to fly at first. Check the support website for a video and hints on how to fly. PicaSim won’t teach you how to fly, but it can help you learn – persevere and the sky is the limit!

This app has been updated by Apple to display the Apple Watch app icon.
- Add Litermonthalle Nalbach scenery by Detlef Jacobi.
- Improve object editing and plane scaling.
- Graphical improvements. If upgrading on a low-end device, you may need to disable "Separate Specular" in the options if this causes too much slowdown.
- Reduce the wind strength in front of slopes slightly.
If you encounter problems after upgrading, try uninstalling/reinstalling, and if that doesn’t work contact [email protected]

A dead-on sim of RC flying as well as a fun app to be "in the cockpit" with. The races are challenging and you can see how you stack up agains others (and none of the get-more-options-as-you-get-points silliness… It’s all about your skill). A long list of aircraft and many varied flying sites as well as the ability to customize and tweak anything and everything. More thermals, more wind, ridiculous settings for the plane’s handling, etc. Everything from sailplanes to a jet to a hang glider. Best app on our phone.
Please add more prop planes and helicopters.

Well the paid version is even better, but the smoothness and realism of the aerodynamics and controls are amazing. The focus is on gliders, and powered models are few, but it’s the best app for learning how to fly an RC model. If you want to play games, go elsewhere. If you want a good flight sim, this is it.
This game, or simulator is amazing. It’s basic and elegant. It has great potential.
Very powerful simulator, from thermal to detailed landscapes. Give it a try, you wont be disappointed.
Really good on iTouch 4, but is laggy when thermals are set to high. However, on the island map, the runway is in the water (?). We would also like to see how the DLG aspect of this sim works (is the launch preset?) but it seems to be unavailable. We will be recommending this to fellow SS and DLG pilots but we would love to see the DLG unlocked.
The game is pretty boring, and we wouldn’t recommend it. Need we say any more?

Im still learning to fly so this is really nice even though they dont give you many planes or places to go. It is free with no in app purchases so that makes sense.
Nice planes,you should put more planes but there are some cool glitches in the maps.
This we say is the best game you can get for a plane simulator. There are so many planes, gliders and even one drone if you get the full version. ( the full version is 2.99 cents) also if you are wondering how many planes gliders there are there are about 40.
This game is fun cause well, we just like airplanes lol.

Awesome simulator, great graphics and physics.
We are proud to say that we have officially made a tune for the F 18 that will make the game crash at approximately 6747 miles an hour and we feel as if they should fix this issue is that we can reach approximately 7000 miles an hour because that is our goal.
We downloaded this game and played it here and there for about 2 weeks. Im a beginner to RC aircraft and have been flying our current plane in a beginner/stabilized mode because of lack of experience. We took the real plane out to fly today, and it was amazing how much more confident we felt flying in the expert mode after mastering the controls in this game. All in all, the physics and controls are pretty accurate. You can customize control mixes, which helped us tune the behavior in the game to he flight characteristics of our plane in real life. The only downside is that some of the planes appear to be broken. I.e they wont load when we select them.
Its amazing! Its better on Android, though.
We hope the developers see this and fix this because one of the free acrobatic planes do not work and it sends us to the default model. We would really appreciate if you fixed it because we love the app and we use it all the time we have had it for a very long time and we would like to learn to fly that plane. Other than that the app is really good. Thank-you hope you can fix it!
This game is amazing. We love the stunt plane, although, we would give it 5 stars if it could manage to load one of the stunt planes. It says failed to load plane then just takes us to the default glider (which is horrible in our opinion). We only play this game for the e-flight knock off apprentice they have, and one micro stunt plane they have. We wish the developers could just take the 2 seconds to get rid of the bug and send a new update for the game. We would be happy to change our rating if this happened. Sorry if we were rude at any point on this review. Have a great rest of your day!
If You want a plane sim that doesn’t take up that much space it’s good.
We love this game and we could play it all day. Its physics are great and the planes are mostly good. We only have one problem, which is when we try to load the Max Bee plane, it changes to the default glider. We have an iPhone 7 and we do not know if the problem is related to the type of phone that we have. Thank you in advance for reading this review, and also for creating this great flight sim.

Well, we know that there were more planes in earlier versions, but Im guessing your saying Nooo, we cannot let them have fun without paying so they kind of make it so you want to pay the 2.99 for the full version, didnt even mind checking the levels.

Lots of planes, locations, and gobs of user settings… For FREE! Very relaxing, stress free learning with no fear of crashing your weeks or months of model assembly. Like it MUCH! And we’ve tried many others. Well done.

We CANT BELIEVE IT. THIS APP FREEZES ALL OVER THE PLACE WITH A HEALTHY IPHONE6 ON THE LATEST IOS. PATHETIC. DIDNT USED TO ON 4s 5 or 5s. WHEN IM FLYING A 3D PLANE WITH THE HIGH CONTROL Rates SWITCHED ON SOMETIMES A FREEZE WILL CUT OUT ALOT You should adopt the way real flight mobile zooms out when you do a loop. It looks cool. The trim needs to be re made and made to get out of the way.

We bought the r7 simulator. And this one. This one is better. Over 6 years we have bought maybe 3 apps. And wrote 0 reviews. This one is the best one.
Fun Simulator, good for practicing slope soaring.
Why would someone want to download this app? The plane is so uncontrollable,you open the app,next thing you know you crash.
To many adds, the app crash when we oppen it, don’t download.
We were really impressed with this. It’s our favorite iPad simulator. The only issue is there is no reversing on the sticks. We fly with our elevator not inverted and we can’t fly like that on this sim. If they put that in an add in this sim would be perfect.
