This is the best DND app we have used, with so many options available from both official and home-brew sources. The ability to create your own is tricky to navigate at first, but when you figure it out it is a powerful tool to have, making home-brew games much easier to set up. The pro option is worth every penny, and we have not run across any bugs that detract from our experience.
This is the best builder app for dnd we've used and you get all character options for free as its all peer to peer file sharing or making your own. Perfect for building characters with home brew or the newest features (just make sure to join the discord unless you like typing) Ive been playing TTRPGS since 2014 and character building has never been so easy for D&D as well you can import other game systems on the never version of the app.
Prism helps us so much with our DnD! It saves us so much time.
This has been a godsend for us making dnd characters. The support team has also been incredibly helpful anytime we needed something.
This app is great as it helps us learn dnd. But this app needs way way more variety, the app needs artificer, and more species and some more. Yes we are using the free version but we feel it is missing a lot to make it better. Seriously this app needs more. Also the free version should let people make 3 characters instead of 2 as 2 is too limiting.
We really like this app. It has helped us a lot in our playing of dungeons and dragons. It has made things a lot easier things have been a lot more organized, but there is only one sub class for each class. And the biggest thing here is that there is only 1 feet. The grappler feet which we take, but which would mean that every single character that we make has the grappler feat and on every couple levels, we have to take the abilities school improvement. Dungeons & Dragons is a game about choice. We feel like we are being restricted in our choices.
We can see why people dont understand this app but with a little bit of tinkering its amazing. Yes, the import can be a bit overwhelming at first but the discord has a whole channel dedicated for importing. If youre wanting a character sheet app that is a quick download and play, this is app is not for you. If youre willing to do a little bit of work and importing, then this app is perfect. Also a one time charge of $10 isnt half bad compared to D&D beyond charging you for each book or for a monthly subscription. Keep up the good work.
We cant add the friends cantrip, like it doesnt exist at all, which would be fine, there are a lot of spells in dnd, understandable if you must some but theres also no option to put in a custom spell or anything far as we can tell so which is annoying.
We tried to make an Aasimar. The only option is a variant aasimar. You have to import from discord to try and make this thing useable up front so you can create base game characters and looks nothing like the preview? We could just be stupid trying to use this app so we guess you could say its not foolproof.
This app is so useful. If you are thinking about buying the pro, do it! It is definitely worth it.
Amazing app, it makes making a DND character as simple as a couple options. If anybody is new to DND then this is the perfect app for you. Also the 10 dollar fee is a one time purchase for all of the content, so thats a plus.
Im not that math/tech savvy when it comes to putting our own character sheets together. But prism makes it so easy to make characters and simplifies it down to sections, that are easy to access and navigate. Plus they go the extra mile of doing the work for you when it comes to leveling up even after our character is created! Id say the only thing that would make it perfect, is if it could keep updating with more content, such as more races, and more classes/sub classes. Other than that, its really good app.
Great app, but can you please add the artificer class.
This app is great. But for some reason we cant edit our custom spells or weapons anymore.
The way files are put into the compendium via a thread on Discord was OK, but now is a hot mess with trying to harmonize with the 2024 edition. What a disaster!! It is totally not clear what is what from official to homebrew. There should have been (or should be) very specific description guidelines for posts. Are only the admins taken officially, and which of those. Makes sense for others (volunteers) to help out the developer, but are they nicely posting official or their own homebrew? Who knows?! Better to go back to pencil and paper than dealing with this rats nest. Gave 2 instead 1 star because it used to be great.
Nice layout, pretty easy to use. Nice side swipe to see additional pages. Remember to go to their Discord page for importing additional material.
We like the app a lot! Its our go-to for character sheets on our phone. It compacts everything in a way that is understandable. However, having to pay for more than 2 characters is a little much for us. Im the type of person who loves making characters that Ill never play. The app is also missing a lot of content so you have to join their discord, search for and download the content you want.
Id love to give this 5 stars but there are features missing that seem so obvious we cant imagine why they wouldnt include them. For example, no custom spell tab. Its missing spells from most expansions. Same for subclass abilities. If we have to leave the app to look up a spell or ability because we cant put the deets in the app then why do we have the app.
With the plethora of different apps for TTRPGs it can be difficult to find the best fit for you. With that said, Prism is by far the most user friendly and powerful app that we have had the pleasure to use. We originally tried to use D&D Beyond and other various apps (5eCompanian, FifthEditionCharacter for example). After having used Prism for the last, we believe, two years, we can definitely say that you wont find a better app for your D&D, Call of Cthulhu, Star Wars: Edge of the Empire, or Pathfinder needs. Sincerely, a throughly pleased user of an amazing gaming utility. (Proud operator of Prism scroll, PrismDM, PrismDjinn, PrismCthulhu, and recently PerformanceChk).
The core races are fine but we just want a bit more.
This isnt the best app for what it does. But it can be FREE instead of 100s of dollars!!!! 1000% recommended, already told all our friends about it! Please try it out.

Limited to 2 characters AND export is a premium feature. If PDF export was free we would consider paying for pro, as strange as that may sound. Instead, we just get the impression that the developers are primarily interested in squeezing as much money as they can out of their users. Sure it's nice that there doesn't seem to be a limit on the number of custom entries you can put in the compendium, but that doesn't do much good if there are only 2 character slots to work with. If there was a character limit but a way to export a sheet without paying for pro, that would telegraph that the devs are trying to make the app functional for free users. The main functionally of a digital character sheet (IMO) is the ability to make quick changes and then be able to undo them easily. That functionality is worth paying for, but not if we feel like we're being forced into doing it. (As an aside, we don't know what the demographics of the dev team or their userbase are, but we have to tell you, Discord is not nearly as universal as you seem to think it is. Promising "additional content" and only actually having it accessible to those with a Discord login of all things is a frankly baffling decision. Not to mention that it's a horrible place to actually store anything long term… We personally don't have any problem with having to manually input what we want, but this system seems like a huge issue to us).
Hands down, the best app for 5e. We paid for it the one time, and we have been able to create so many cool characters. Its the app Ive used to track our players before, we use it for all our characters, we cant recommend it enough.
This is the best digital character sheet maker for dnd 5e, no questions about it. The interface is easy to understand, the homebrew system and its surrounding community on the discord allows for great innovation, and the devs are responsive and professional.
Not only is this app nice to look at but it really helped us navigate all of the stats during character creation as a new player. We highly recommend this app.
Their are no paywalls and you can get every item and background and race without even paying a dime. You only need to pay for more slots.

Ive always used this App for every D&D campaign we used, and it has never failed us, no problems that are super frustrating, this app is really easy to use.
Hi we just got this and its already doing better than dnd beyond lol but more directed to the creator the discord like has expired. Every time we try to click it and go it doesnt work. We tried to copy the link. Nope. We tried manually. Still a no. Id like to ask for so help please.
The app as a whole is great, it guides you through the struggles of making a D&D character, but there is a character creation limit, you can only make more characters when you pay $9. But again, overall the app is wonderful for D&D character creation.
What a find! This is an amazing app for your TTRPG crew to have. So many resources, so many home brew options and an intuitive UI that makes it a breeze to use. You can also use it as a standard paper sheet as well which is amazing – we love how clear it makes each step and how you can level up your game experience.

We cant use this with foundry or roll20 and thats how we primarily play. Please add a way to export as a json file.
We would pay again if we could add modifiers to the dice. Would love to add a custom die that was a d8 5 or d20-4. It looks like we can do it via the character sheet, if there is a way to do this from the dice roller we'll gladly up our star rating :).
This app doesnt offer ANY worthwhile options in character creation. No artificer, a handful of races, even less bank rounds, 1 Wizard subclass, have to pay 10 bucks to do things like use dice and import files. If half the effort was put into creating a functional app as there is into putting in pretty colors, this would be the definitive 5e character sheet app. Instead its a waste of wifi broadband downloading it.
We have been using Prismscroll for years, we tried many (all that we could find) of the existing character creator apps out there, none truly compare to Prismscroll. We also highly recommend the PrismDM app (been using that to run our game for the past year and a half.) we need to give Sam a shoutout as the most responsive developer Ive ever come in contact with. Im pretty sure he lives with a shock collar to alert him every time a question is posted on discord. His responses are extremely timely and helpful. Overall the app is excellent on both form and function with the ability to create pretty much anything you can think of. There is an active discord that is happy to share feedback and homebrew. Thank you for this app.
First we want to say that this app is amazing. It has an incredibly friendly UI, it is clean and easy to navigate/understand, it has no lack of pages to add information about your character. We even love the little celebration you get when you level up. The thing that kills it for us is the lack of depth. There needs to be more options for backgrounds, playable races, even subclasses needs more (Ive only seen one subclass per class) we bought the premium version because for what the app has is great, and what it offers in premium for only $10 is better. But we were hoping to unlock more subclasses and races with premium. Will the creators ever come out with more options.
We couldnt help but notice that there are a few race options like kobolds and the artificer class are not included Should probably look into that.
We are trying to put together a party of our friends and all of us are new. We are by far the most invested in DnD and so we have had to help our friends every step of the way. Making a character is so easy because it fills in most things for you and when you have to choose things most of them have a randomize button. This made our life way easier because it meant that we didnt have to make 4 different characters for our friends and instead could randomize most things. Overall great app for new and old players.
We were worried when we thought we would have to create every piece of info. But we found out that if you go to Prisms discord from the Apps menu you can download the info for free!! Fantastic App.
Developers are actively improving this app with really excellent functional features. Our personal favorite feature is how fully fleshed out some of the character classes, subclasses and class options are done. And the community support is very, very active. Hundreds of new items created since Ive joined. Im very excited about this product!! Update: we've used it since it came out and it gets better every day. Support is amazing.
Ok we get that you are trying to make money but at least add the races to the people who dont want in-app purchases because we have a character that is a Minotaur but apparently we hate to buy extra CLASSES?!? We have seen other character sheet apps that give all the classes for free so we would say that you should up your game if you want to stay in the market.
So, Im a D&D nerd and a year or two ago, we were looking for a DND creating game, tried one, HORRIBLE only provides 2 races to choose from, then we tried this and AMAZING we LOVE IT! It not only lets u make 2 characters EASILY but it also lets u create ur own races, monsters, items, etc., and guess what IT WAS EASY! Theres also prism Pro, havent tried it yet, but even without subscription it is AWESOME 10/10 will always use in dnd club.

Ive been playing 5e for about 2 years and Ive never needed another tool. The app is clean and concise, is constantly being updated to keep up with new WoTC releases, and its functionality is fantastic. For the casual player who dabbles in home brew, the ability to plug items into your sheets is simple and comprehensive. The character builder is vast and accurate, as well as convenient. Ive made dozens of characters, NPCs, specialty items, and even monsters on here and theyre all easily accessible, customizable, and simple to browse and interact with. Im starting a campaign as a dm online and Ive recommended all our players use this app for their character sheet instead of the websites integrated character creator. All in all its a well designed and well maintained app made by a stellar part of the community who understands what the player wants and how to give it to them in the most convenient and consistent way possible. And for times that youve got specific requests or recommendations, their discord is very active and the developer often does livestream Q&As to help further develop the app and keep in touch with the community.
