User Reviews on Saga of Nine Worlds: Gathering

Looking for more information? Read a comprehensive review of Saga of Nine Worlds: Gathering below:

This game is long and visually stunning. Refreshing storyline. One of our all time favorites! Nicely done!

We’ve just begun playing this and it seems very good. Norse mythology is a favorite of ours, so we hope this game is good. We also hope the next Dark Parables game is good because if it is not, Epix, you will hear from us.

Maybe it’s just us, but we find this Viking tale VERY confusing. And, unfortunately, that makes it not much fun. We’ll pass.

Although the graphics are very good, neither the story nor puzzles drew us in so we’ll pass and wait for the next one.

And it was hard to follow what was going on because everything wasweird. We guess maybe the story arc was too complex? We dont know. Maybe its just me.

Behold the mighty Norsemen, who set sail upon thee seas, valiantly battling fire-breathing dragons, under thee honor of their almighty Gods! Eipix used to be one of our favorite developers; now, they simply regurgitate their rehashed story lines and formulaic mechanics into every game within every series. Even their HOSs have become trite, recycling the same types without any refreshing creativity. They kind of lost their "wow" factor. With this new series, we were hoping that they would have taken a much-needed diversion from the norm, towards an invigorating path filled with captivating innovation and elevated gameplay. Unfortunately, they mostly did not. We are disenchanted by the storyline, which is the foundation of a game, holding all the supporting components together. The plot moves along slowly and fails to build up moments of excitement. What they did do well is to successfully integrate Norse mythology and the Vikings theme into the environment; for example, the wood-constructed Viking ships, adorned with striped sails and serpent-like masts. Rune stones raised stones with a runic inscription are omnipresent throughout this game. The characters’ appearances, including their attire, appropriately complement the theme of the storyline: horned helmets; cloak-clad women; steel-armor gear; long haired men with braided beards; and weapons of warfare, such as swords. The dwarves are an important part of Norse mythology due to their masterly skill in creating artifacts for the Norse Gods. Their roles here are reminiscent to their roles in Lord of the Rings in which they created weapons and jewelry for the elves. However, we find their personalities to be sapless and devoid of compelling emotion. Surprisingly, we thought that the graphics have improved; we don’t notice the typical blotchiness that this developer is known for. You can customize your settings. The inventory is labeled and interactive; items require assembly. In custom mode, the teleport map indicates available actions; but it does NOT facilitate brisk travel to labeled locations. It has become quite frustrating to repeatedly tap on a desired location to find that magic spot in order for our touch input to be acknowledged. Transition between scenes is smooth and quick; no glitches to report. Gameplay is story-driven and implements a twist of allowing you to control your destiny. Even the map is incorporated into the gameplay. We are pleased that the Journal records information about the characters we encounter, as well as varying mythological beliefs, traditions, inventions, etc. The multi-layered HOSs a trademark of this developer are taken up a notch in both ingenuity and complexity. They are thematically and artistically rendered to enhance the storyline. The puzzles, multi-layered as well, are effectively fused into the actions in progress, as their solutions will solve a quandary. But, as creative as the puzzles are, we find most of them to be beginner leveled, thus depriving us of the challenge needed to quench our thirst. You discover well-blended collection sets within the locations and within the HOSs. We have to admit that we’re feeling a bit jaded because we thought that this game would be over the top. Something is amiss here. It seems that the mediocre storyline, the lack of connectedness to the characters, and the underwhelming puzzles diminish our overall satisfaction. And that map makes it painful to navigate between locations. Therefore, our true rating of 3.5 stars is lowered to a disappointing 3 stars. Lynx Minx: hotties in the house again!

Note to KimTwilight: The hotties and the graphics were the only redeeming features of this game! Note to Izzyoc: Happy New Year! Thank you for such a comprehensive list of upcoming games. At least we can logically and happily await some games. Domini, Mad Head and Boolat are generally rated between 4 and 5 stars, the next EIPIX game is within a series most of us have enjoyed, and we should have a game soon released by Artifex Mundi. So gamers, dont despair! The next couple of weeks should hopefully be better. On to this game. As much as EIPIX gave us, it wasnt enough to make it an enjoyable experience. You could customize settings. The graphics and cut-scenes were fantastic and electrifying. There was an actual journal which contained notes, objectives and trivia about Norse mythology. Inventory was labeled and interactive and there were complex items to assemble. There was a marked teleport map to transport you instantaneously between locations, when it decided to work properly. At each location you must collect an Yggdrasil tile. The HO scenes were clever and interesting. There was no alternative puzzle to the HO scene. Morphing objects were also included in the HO puzzles. Although there were a lot of puzzles/games, many were simplistic and others were boring rotational stuff. We normally dont skip a lot of puzzles but in this game we found myself doing so just to get through this game. Although we love the fantasy genre and mythology, we didnt love this game. The map was finicky and there were touch screen sensitivity issues. We had trouble following the nuances in the storyline, even with all the information given in the journal. We tried to enjoy the game but it didnt thrill us. EIPIX should not have released a game so soon after the last one if their quality assurance wasnt up to par. There was no excuse for that map or the sensitivity issues. We will not replay this game, and we feel like we wasted money. Our true rating is 3 stars rounded down to 2.5 stars. However, tomorrow is another day and hopefully a couple of good games await us if Artifex Mundi releases one! Happy gaming, players! UPDATE: You can pre-order the new game by Artifex Mundi. We did it but we dont know what happens when it is released. (Does it automatically download?) This is the first time this distributor ever did a pre-order, to our knowledge. They give you a percentage off the price and the game looks like it will be a winner! We buy all their games so we believe our gamble will pay off. This one will be incorporated under the crime genre and it has much to offer. The question now becomes, Do you trust us? We have been gaming in this genre for 6 years, so you already know the answer to that question! UPDATE NUMBER TWO: Artifex Mundi didnt release the game today. We guess we wait. As for Adera, the Hit-Point game, it was a pass for us. Terrible graphics, seemed cheaply developed, no real tutorial, HO scenes were boring word lists, no map and except for the first episode, each additional one (there are 4 more) is $3.99. So the game will cost you just shy of $16.00! Would we pay this much for a BigFish game? Are you joking?

We give this game 3 stars for the numerous HOPs and objects to find. Non-linear, difficult to follow the story, Viking titles detract from game play. We only purchased this game, because we dont have any other new games to play. We really dont like costume dramas!

Visually pleasing and long, but not logical. We couldnt figure out what to do next. Hit Hint a lot. Many games often didnt work. Glad we only paid $2.99. Not worth a penny more.

We thought the first land scene looked familiar…. It’s the same background used in the most recent Phantasmat. (and the similarities don’t end there….) So while we’re all about recycling … From boxes to boyfriends.. …. You would think the obviously talented group of artists at EIPIX would want to create unique storyboards for each game. Anyway…. We’re not quite to the "pay to stay" setting- but so far we’re less than thrilled. Yet again, mobile issues re: scale Choice of font, given its size, makes it much harder to read… . And love a challenge… Come on…. Custom Option (while appreciated) buttons are so tiny, we couldn’t select our exact settings, especially the ones that slide. And why the redundancy? "Show Full Tutorial" "No Tutorial Needed" Isn’t deselecting the first option sufficient? Solemn In S.F. PL: Premium Labeling?? It’s as though every new game receives this honor – interested to know the criteria.

We usually love Epix games but this one failed to deliver. There was not much to the story but mini games. We were really disappointed.

Its very frustrating trying to figure out the object of some games or objectives as the directions are often rather obtuse .

This was not one of our favorites. The mini puzzles werent very challenging, and the story line wasnt great. We can deal with that – really we can since we enjoy any game that helps pass the time – but we are especially disappointed that after finishing the main game, we were unable to play the bonus game. There are items in the Extras that will supposedly unlock after completing the bonus game but no way to access it to play. Disappointing.

Way too much chatter – and some puzzles do not work on iPad.

A poorly designed game with a nonsensical story line. Lets just grab a few characters from Norse mythology and hammer them all together.

We downloaded this twice and it crashes before we can set up a profile.

Did Big Fish forget this promise? We have bought many, many games, but they no longer play! Whats up? Signed by an very unhappy customer.

Would like to play it, but all we get is the title screen, before it closes. So, one star only.

We like the game and even played it twice but you cant access the bonus chapter. In the extra area, there is no where to click for the bonus game. Dont buy this game until they fix it. What a shame because its not a bad game and a good alternative to the horror ones.

It didnt grab us at all. We didnt even finish the demo. The graphics were nice, the voice acting, meh. We had to turn the music off right away. The map was not interactive. We didnt like the first HOG as it was a stained glass find the lined objects, rather than more realistic ones,

This was such a strange game and not in a good way. Some of the mini games didnt work at all. The game was all over the place and it felt as though we were playing a game that was old… Of course we know better because the older games no longer work!! (wink-wink, Im looking at you BFG)… The hidden object games were all over the place and we dont mean placement, we mean that there really isnt any reasoning involved. Im really sad that we wasted time on this. At least we didnt pay full price. We miss the great games we had come to expect from BFG! We cant even go back and play a lot of those because they have not been updated. What happened to Pay Once, Play forever that we purchased all these games expecting it to be true. Sorry, back to the review. We enjoy books, movies and games with Greek gods, demi-gods and love Thor, this is NOT anything like that! Bad game for so many reasons. We would not recommend to anyone. Very dated!

We bought this thinking it was really going to be epic and what a disappointment. They couldnt even decide on a storyline. It starts out that the Princess youre supposed to protect gets separated from you somehow… That wasnt very clear. And then you become this mighty warrior and the whole time Im thinking that all the ridiculous puzzles and hoops you have to jump through are going to lead you back to your original charge as the shield maiden to the Princess. You never see nor hear about a princess again. Instead its all VAGUELY about gods and wars and some stupid conflict between brothers. None of it made any sense and in our mind was a complete waste of money. The puzzles are just plain stupid and annoying and some of them literally have nothing to do with the game. Then, out of the blue the whole thing is over with! Really irritating… Take our advice and pass on this one.

Apparently cant connect to the App Store.

We couldnt get past the first several scenes. Shameful this game shouldnt fetch $.99 cents on a desperate bargain basement day. It should be free with warning! Who sold this game to BF? .. Big let down BF. Cant wait to delete and hide this from playlist.
