WayForward, you did good on this game! But, the thing we're confused about is how to transform. We've been wondering for a while now, so we're just wondering how to become a monkey, elephant, and mermaid. Besides that, we love the game! We also kind of get scared of dying. -UnicornI, Jan 9th 2016.
Love all the features! Especially the belly dance. We played it on our Game Boy Color, 3DS, and maybe on the Wii U. We played the first one, Shantae Risky's Revenge, and Pirate Curse. Can't wait for Half-Genie Hero expected to come out in October which is right now this month, maybe. It's on Kickstarter, so you can start donating money to help the game. It should be on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS4, PS3, 3DS, and the Wii U, maybe. We don't know yet. But nonetheless and the moral of this review, we love Shantae and it deserves the hype it's getting. Keep it up, WayForward.
We have played the first game (on virtual console) and we loved it! The music really adds to the feel of the game and the artwork is beautiful. We're planning on getting the Director's Cut and Pirate's Curse. We can't wait till 1/2 Genie Hero comes out too! We can not stop playing this game! How could you put it down when the gameplay is so amazing! We are glad you made the transformations easier to remember.
This game is simply amazing! We had no idea that the iOS could support such good graphics! Flawless gameplay, amazing boss battles, and a genuinely quirky, funny story awaits! This game is a must for any platformer junkie.

Games like this make us love our iPhone so much more! We couldnt put it down. This is right up there with Across Age, Inotia, Space Miner and etc. This game really takes the cake! We cant wait for Shantaes other games.
Gameplay reminds us of those old time arcade games like metal slug. Graphics are a bit cheesy but grow on you. P.S. This game is tailor made for controller attachment. We use the Brick joystick which works fantastically on this game (usually use it for shooters/FIFA, but this is literally made for joystick attachment). 5/5.
We loved the game it's AWSOM but one thing is that in the pictures about the app ware it says mermaid powers there is another mermaid with a triton like the ones on land and we've never seen one underwater someone tell us whare the mermaids are underwater.
We really enjoyed playing Shantae. We couldn't put it down, and have been staying awake late at night the past few days until we finished it. We plan on playing the first game which came out for the Game Boy Color on the 3DS virtual console. We also look forward to the 3rd game, Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, for the 3DS and Shantae Half Genie Hero that's expected to be released in October for major consoles like XBOX 360, XBOX One, WiiU, PS3, PS4 and PSVita. It's a Kickstarter project which has been fully funded, but they're accepting Paypal donations on the Shantae Half Genie Hero website to help meet their stretch goals.
A funny and addicting adventure that's worth the price.
It's such a good game! There was a bug but the devs took care of that in a timely manner. This is one of the best games on the App Store. We wish we would have bought it earlier.
We love this game but a traditional platformer like this is nearly unplayable on the iPhone. You should buy this game on PC. It's great.
Purchased the full game when we got our first got our iPad; had to restore our computer that factory settings and lost a lot of our files, music, and app games. Now it's telling us to purchase the full version even though we've bought it in the past, Other than that, the game is amazing.
This game is awesome! But we only gave it 4 stars because of two reasons; 1.) we couldn't go past the green old guy. (STUPID LITE VERSION) 2.) Risky's boobs are HUGE.
We had bought the full version and had to replace our phone so we saved to the cloud but when we downloaded our file was gone and it wants us to buy the full version all over again. Other than that problem we love the game and can't wait for the two new Shantae games to drop.

Got this game before the no Iap version was available. Tried to install on new phone and there is no option to restore purchase. Buyer beware.

This version of the game works perfect with our iPhone 5 running iOS 7. The game is a fun and charming action platformer.
One of our favorite iOS games by far. We'd love it if the studio also ported their other games into the app store. Either that or a Shantae sequel please! Best platformer for iPhone :) UPDATE: Fixed the crashing issues, so consider us a happy customer :).
We do t like this title we just don't! The levels are too hard and we can't even beat one single level at all.
The new costume is cool, and really useful if you like to use spells, but perhaps add the new costume to the cutscenes.
Just crashes on our iPhone 4S with iOS 5.1.1 at the boot screen. Looking forward to playing this again though.

This game is great. Controls are nice and the story is adorable. We could hardly put it down. It's cool how they incorporate some different aspects that weren't in the original game. We'd say it is definitely worth the $2 for the full game.
The funny part is that when u wait a while the girl will grab her Braw and pull it up.
Speak to the freaking NPCS the girls at the first jump gate tells you how to belly dance.

This game is very fun! Old classic gaming on our ipod! Also for people who don't know how to belly dance you hold the action button and she'll do 3 different dances. The one you stop on will be her transformation if you unlocked it. Hope this helped! =^.^=.
Im a casual gamer but we know all the stuff gamers need to know. When we heard this game hit… Well, here we were so happy. This game is amazing. Only one prob. We DONT HAVE ANY ITUNES MONEY! We cant buy the full version, yet.
Probably the best iOS game we've ever played. Only problem we experienced was occasionally not being able to move because the movement stick is a bit unresponsive sometimes, but we love the nostalgic graphics, the soundtrack is fantastic, and it made you figure things out yourself it doesn't hold your hand through it. Difficult sometimes yes, but stock up on potions and you'll be fine.
Its a fun game but im stuck on the swimmin part of it.
We play this game all the time, on both our iPod and iPad. It is that awesome. We really wish a lot of newer games were more like this, instead you usually have to track down 50 different materials in order to make some shiny new weapon! We're really just tired of that cheap replayability mechanic. Magic jam for the win! (Though, still waiting on those UI improvements. Here's a hint: SEGA makes the awesomest interface!) It's a little short, but it's so sweet we hardly notice. It just makes us want to see the next game in this series that much sooner! Here's hoping. This is one of few times when product advertising meets delivery. It's incredibly fun and interesting, and, as others have said, it smacks of games like Zelda, Metroid, and Castlevania. We add that it still has its own personality, complete with a sense of humor about itself, and things that appeal to both kids and adults. And despite the scantily clad women, we would say it's innocent/cartoony enough to give a kid. Graphics are gorgeous, they are EXPLODING with color, something we would wish of our higher powered home-bound gaming consoles.
The game is amazing. Kept us entertained for awhile. Glad we finally beat it.
This game is a no brainer for people who grew up in the 8/16 bit era. Easily 5 stars. You owe it to yourself to purchase this game.
Ridiculously quality animation and graphics and fun platforming (metroidvania describes it well). Only thing is, there sure is a lot of jiggly boob in this game for what is ostensibly a kids game. And we mean, a lot. Not a negative, just odd. Anyway, enjoy.
Now, we've wanted to get the original Shantae for a while now. How much does it cost for GBC? Answer: $150? We were overjoyed to see it on the DSi and now can't wait to play it on an iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad! Short and sweet, this game is gonna be awesome once we play it.
This game is really fun. It is like a classic Metroid or Castlevania game.
