Slay the Spire Reviews

Please provide controller support for backbone!

We cannot rate this game high enough. We played hundreds of hours on pc, and at least a hundred more on IOS. It may be tough to get the hang of at first, but after a few runs you learn a lot and get hooked in. There is a lot of depth here, and working up the Ascensions (higher difficulties you unlock) is a blast. Seriously worth every penny, you will get your moneys worth out of it.

Changed 2 star to 5 after they quickly fixed the issues that the patch had caused. Great game, 100% here and on PC but we keep playing.

Great game, v2.2.2 update made it very difficult to select cards, but v2.2.3 fixes it. Thank you!

One of our favorite games of all time. We’ve been playing since 2019 on steam and have around 400 total hours combined from steam, iOS, and Nintendo switch. Its a hefty price especially for an app but its the full fledged game that costs $25 on all other platforms so it really is a steal. The game runs great and the iOS port is nothing short of exceptional. Support indie developers!!

Love this game through and through. We are used to playing it on controller though and have had several instances where we will sometimes accidentally play cards without meaning to with touch controls. Not a big deal, but controller support on iOS would be a game changer for us!

One of our favorite games to waste time on and die in, even if you dont win, learning the enemy patterns and making ridiculous synergies is still a delight to do. We have yet to run into bugs and have played the game a ton on PC and it seems like a solid port. Would recommend.

Idk why 4.1 stars game has no flaws, exciting no adds and you can play for hours.

Quite a good ripping good time Daily missions are perfect and im a guy who loves his wife.

Huge fan of StS and have been waiting a long time for a mobile port. And now we play on the phone more than on the computer! The interface could be a bit better but it is improving. Some small fiddly options like toggling beta art seems to almost never hit the tough target. And this seems to be a straight port, as in your finger is the mouse and the game is 1:1. This has been updated a bit with some Menus being made bigger. As we put in our title we use a normal iPhone X, the game runs smoothly and we can still play the game smoothly. Great port! So happy to have it mobile!

We love this game but we would love for it to have controller support!

The game is great but could definitely benefit from connecting to a controller or backbone.

Excellent game with nearly endless replayability and the touch control issues have been resolved.

This game is extremely fun to play. As of Nov 2021 it runs like butter, and its pretty easy on the battery life too. Highly recommend.

Do NOT listen to reviews saying that this port is bad. If you are a fan of StS on PC you will not be disappointed by the iPad version. Not perfect, but not even close to as bad as many reviews are making it out to be. We avoided buying this for months because of the numerous bad reviews saying that the iOS port was shoddy and full of issues. Maybe the game was bad early on but its fantastic right now. 20hr in and we are pleasantly surprised at how good the game feels. Yes, sometimes you may accidentally play a card without meaning to, but we’ve only done it when our had was full or when we were moving too quickly. We can see it being a bit tricky on phone but its still been fine for us. If youre playing on an iPad you wont have any issues. Anyways, this is the best $10 you can spend on the mobile card game genre. Look no further.

This is a well known 5/5 game. Tons of replay ability. No micro transactions, legit quality game.

So we love this game and have put over 120 hours into it. It has an insane amount of replayability and variety. So the bug is sometimes when we beat an Act 1 or 2 boss, when we hit proceed after killing them, sometimes it clicks there twice, which skips the rare card+potion+gold rewards and goes straight to the relic. We cant save and quit or restart the app to go back.

The touch control update from version 2.2.2 has made this game nearly unplayable on iPhones without a home button. Whenever you drag cards up, the phone thinks Im closing the app. The high sensitivity before this update was much better. Not sure why the change was necessary. Update 9/25/2021 theyve since corrected this and the game runs smoothly.

We just got through posting this review when an update came out that seems to have made things better. Im totally going to take credit for this fix. Thanks! This is an amazing game. One of the all time greats. But the touch controls have always been iffy and this latest update makes them worse instead of better. We feel like the cards are always either not reacting to our touches or over reacting. We know that software development is hard but this should be a high priority.

We played this iOS port about a year ago and it was rough. Redownloaded recently and it is much, much better. Great game, great port.

Been addicted to this game for about a year and now we can FINALLY listen to music and play. We’ve give 5 stars to other things and we feel bad we did so: this is a 5 star app.

An amazing game that we play 24/7 and we’ve uninstalled and reinstalled but we cant open the game it loads up then kicks us from it.

Put 129 hours in to it, that explains it.

This game should be super smooth on our iPhone 13 Pro Max considering how powerful the chip is and the 120hz display but it feels like its capped at 30 fps. Does this game still get updates on iOS? Hopefully they patch it so it takes advantage of the 120hz display. There also seem to be some bugs when selecting cards where it sometimes doesnt register and you have to repeat your inputs. The game itself is amazing. Be prepared to spend hundreds of hours on this.

Mulriple devices need cloud saves.

Unfortunately theres no controller support :( LOVE the game on the xbox though!

Near perfect but theres annoying touch screen bugs which will cause missed played cards.

Excellent strategy game, and they have fixed the control issues which is appreciated. Our only minor gripe is that the map icons are now too small.

Perfect game but we hope it can sync our saves among different iOS devices.

The game is incredible. We fell in love with it when we started on PC, but now mobile is our go to for convenience. The game functions pretty well on mobile with the exception of not being able to view upgrades for potential card choices. If they could add a feature to long press or something then this version would be 10/10 as its just not fun to swap to google if we cant remember the upgrade for a potential card.

We dont know how In the world this is supposed to be an improvement. The touch controls are unresponsive now and makes the game unpleasantly tedious to play. They were fine before why change it to THIS? Otherwise the game is awesome so we give it 4 stars for now because its a port of an amazing game. However please for the love of all that is good please revert this last update!

We’ve played hours of this game across different platforms and just patiently wait for controller support for mobile.

But the UI hasnt been updated at all for mobile, leading to extremely small buttons/potions on your screen, difficult to tap. Maybe its fine for the iPad version but until this is overhauled its a 4 star from us.

We have 1k hours in this game on the Pc. Also have a little under 200hrs on the iPhone. Cant play act 4 in the current state. Always crashes on the act 4 elite.

This is our go to on-the-crapper game. It is amazing – fun, replayable, challenging. Super great deck builder Then, They made an update and it broke. Then they fixed it. We would have given 5 stars, but this shows a lack of quality control, so we cant. But definitely worth picking up!

Slay the Spire is one of our favorite rogue-lite style games on PC and this is a stable port, however it seems as if animations are locked at ~60 fps (maybe less?) even on the iPhone 13 Pro. Since the PC version has native support for 120 and 240 hertz refresh rates, it would be great to see the app updated with the latest version of the API to support 120 frames per second. With that added it would easily be a 5* port for us.

Hey devs! Thank you again for another update! Id just like to say we dont like the improvements to the touch controls. They feel delayed or laggy. Maybe the team is still working out the kinks but we just wanted to give some feedback. Thanks again! ****original review – Hey devs! Thanks for the update! Been looking forward to it for awhile now. Glad to see all the bug fixes too. Keep up the good work. Thanks! Edit: yeaaaa the update broke the card selection. We cant grab the cards.

We know it seems silly for a mobile phone, but we really like playing this on Xbox with controller. IPad would be awesome too.

The only reason we did not give this game 5 stars was due to issues with accidentally discarding potions, and the clunky feeling when playing cards sometimes. The combat is simple, but can become complex in an easy to understand way. The game challenges you, but when you learn it the feeling of winning is very rewarding. Gameplay:10/10 UX/UI: 6/10.

Well we’ve played for quite a lot while on mobile its a great game would have given 5 stars if not for the update that zooms everything in while its is nice its pretty buggy now a lot of the text and stuff dont line up and it feels as if it came out of nowhere if they were gonna make a update that impacts the look of everything is to do a full job of it or not at all.

Long story short: almost everything about this game is great but it has a big flaw. The cards in your hand are so incredibly difficult to use, read, and a manage. We’ve lost count of the number of times when we accidentally play a card we were just trying to read or deselect. On top of that, the cards are where the iPhone swipe to close bar is. So if we ever want to minimize the app it almost always results in us playing a card. Solution: get rid of the floating cards crammed near the middle bottom of the screen. Spread them out so theyre easier to read and select. They could also make a specific spot you need to drag a card to in order to play it. That way it would allow you to read the cards, minimize the app with no down side, and only play cards you intended to.

Why no 60fps setting? Other platforms with weaker hardware than our iPhone/iPad run this game at 60fps. It might drain more battery, but surely 60fps is achievable. Otherwise we love this game. We own it on two other platforms already. We suppose we will continue to play it on those.

We tried android and pc version of the game but none of them have this weird lag. Plz do something about it.
