Space Age is a game of cosmic adventure. Set in the retro-futuristic sci-fi world of 1976, it follows a small but determined band of intergalactic explorers who land on a seemingly uninhabited planet, Kepler-16. They soon discover there’s something both strange and familiar about this alien place… And what happens next is a clash of old and new, a battle of past mistakes and future fallout.

Hear from the Players – Space Age: A Cosmic Adventure Reviews

Find out what gamers are saying about Space Age: A Cosmic Adventure:

Reminiscent of Earthbound in the good ways. Excellent music, story, and gameplay. It took us a few times of playing to get used to the mechanics but we dont mean that in a bad way. It was different and enjoyable. A favorite, and not just on this platform.

This has a great story line totally worth the buck we spent on it.

Took a while before we decided to write a review because we usually dont write reviews for games unless they are underrated and are not receiving the positive reviews that they deserve, anyways, this is an amazing game, it has its own feel to it and is highly unique, the music fits with the artwork perfectly, making you feel happy and scared and then skeptical about what might happen next, this game always keeps you in constant suspense, wondering about what this brilliant game has planned next, it is like nothing that we have ever played before and we highly recommend it, we have experienced no issues when playing this game at all, whatsoever.

As an old school Sierra gamer in the 80s, this game was a fantastic experience. It is a quality story with that good quality feel of the original sci-fi of the 20th century. The touch control is intuitive and simple to use as well.

The one star person is being way too harsh. Theres a lot of text, but if you dont mind that (I like VNs so it doesnt bother me) its a fun adventure and we never felt confused or incapable of moving forward. We also dont work for the developers lol.

Been looking for a fun fresh new game lately, and this is it. There are some classic references for the sci-fi nerd here as well. We hope theres more of this style coming!

Don’t listen to the whiny negative reviews. This game is a great adventure game. There were a few difficult places that took many tries, but we got through it eventually. Look forward to the next one.

Theres no option to tap to progress the dialogue. It continues on its own and we simply cant read that small of text that fast. For an adventure game, youd think they would have this as an option as this is standard for every other adventure game. Please fix…

So far its pretty cool. A major issue we found we that bought this for the Apple TV. Theres one flashback level where you need to control two characters simultaneously. Its virtually impossible to do with the Apple Remote. We had to open game in the phone to complete it using multi-touch.

Dont buy this game unless you want to waste your money.

Entertaining story with great sense of humor. Fog of war mechanism is clever and adds to your experience as a space explorer. Gameplay is challenging, requiring lots of trial and error to find the correct way to complete each stage, but was never frustrating. Visually appealing retro graphics, music wonderful with headphones. Highly recommend!

A little hard to see since it’s so small, but the story, music and dialogue are wonderful. Not very fulfilling/creative in the "adventuring" department, but since it was an obvious project of love it’s entirely forgivable. Lost the sound for a bit (glitch?) but we got it back somehow. Good for fans of old school point-and-click adventures. The dialogue is a little long and usually unskippable (despite the available option to), so this is more of a watch and enjoy game. Pretty funny at times, too! Well worth our money.

This game is really fun and used to quit, but we told them and they fixed it fast. Great that they did that and we respect them because of it. The game is actually really fun and everyone should get it.

Fun times indeed. Space/Kings Quest fans will be right at home!

Reminds us of playing Kings Quest when we were young. Fun game, thanks.

Great game, with an interesting plot that keeps you wanting to progress and not waste time.

Absolutely fantastic game, great controls, puzzles are hard but doable, love the sci-fi story, love pretty much everything about the game and Im only half way through. Please make a sequel! Also please enable a full zoom out feature! Scrolling around to move people does get annoying at times, especially when the aliens come to the base to attack and a fast reaction is needed.

We can only smile at the reviewer who claims positive reviews are inauthentic. We’ve heard about this game from two friends, in 30s like myself, who couldn’t stop praising it. Once we decided to try it for myself we found out they weren’t exaggerating. The graphic style and dialogues are immaculately handled. The game brings back the best of early 90s sierra adventure games without any of the annoying aspects. It lasts a good three hours at least from start to finish, and as such easily deserves its price tag and then some. Can’t wait to play more from the creators of this.

Fun game. Beat it in a few nights. Some of the timing puzzles with doors, robots and dying in the last level were annoying, but reminded us of computer games we played as a kid like monkey island. We downloaded for a buck and the writing itself was worth that. Our only con is too short, but it also leaves you wanting more which we do. Well done.

Thank you for the option to adjust colors for colorblind accessibility.

Great game but the boss level is confusing and the level Godspeed made no sense it went from level eight to nine without telling me.

This game took us to period of 2 days to finish… But we loved every minute of it! Old school graphics, great sound track, not too easy or hard… All around 5 Stars!!

We loved everything about this. Great scifi story and beautiful environment to wonder through. One request, More! Give us more like this!

They did a great job using some really clever puzzles to guide you through certain story sequences.

This game is awesome! Good story, controls, and graphics. But it’s not very long, so you should make a Space Age 2 soon! Or, you can at least make a sandbox mode unlocked after game completion.

Controls were a little shaky, but we loved the characters and we love the ending. Awesome.

We burned through it in just a few hours, and the final boss needs work. Their is no indication that you are actually doing damage to anything, and it has no indication on what you are supposed to be doing for most of it. Other than that, an enjoyable experience.

Very unique game, a strange mix of nostalgia for platformers gone by will keep you interested. Very good storyline. Fairly easy but does have level challenges for hardcore completionists. We gotta say though what state of mind were the developers in with the end credits song? Buy it if you’re 40+. If not it’ll be hard to resonate with. But what do you know anyway, you young whippersnappers!

It’s perfect for a dollar but any higher it wouldn’t be worth it. We like it but only in short bursts as some things can be frustrating.

Gameplay is simple, but it fits the story. Graphics and music play along as well. Pretty good way to spend a few hours during a cold night.

Overall, this is a good adventure game. The plot is fun and campy. There are some parts that drag a bit or where the instructions aren’t well explained, but the high points are great. The interface works well for most of the tasks. For 99 cents, it is hard to beat.

Holy Space is this game frustrating. We want to love it – the graphics, story and heart are all there. It’s just infuriating. We quit at level four after a dozen tries. The controls, mechanics and interface are opaque; we have no idea what to do or how to figure it out. We also apparently won some sort of medal for level three that is also inexplicable. Buy this if you’re a good gamer with a high tolerance for frustration, a masochist or curious about what’s buzz worthy in 2017.

Can’t bring myself to play for more then a few minutes at a time. It’s only a dollar tho so maybe get it if you’re bored? At least there are no in app purchases.

This game was cute and creative, but it was very short. It felt as though the plot or pacing could’ve been worked out a bit to produce more levels. The game mechanics only just seemed to get interesting at the end, so more could’ve been done to take advantage of the uniqueness of the gameplay. For us, there’s not too much replay-ability, since the cut scenes are so long and there are very few chances to skip them. This is a shame because the Achievements will make you want to go back and try levels again, but you’ll be deterred by the amount of time it takes to do so. For a dollar, I’d say this game was worthwhile, but it could’ve achieved so much more.

A collection of puzzles wrapped in a sarcastic story. The timing puzzles are too precise for us so we dropped it partway through. The writing is the big feature here, but the sarcasm ends up mocking, not honoring, the campy games of the 80s.

We get to the 2nd level of the game only to discover our character can’t move. Please fix it :(

Confused as to why this is so highly rated and awarded Editor’s Choice… It’s not much of a game. It’s mostly just watching dialogue. No, we didn’t get that far into it because if a game starts off with 10 of your first 15 minutes watching characters talk, that’s not a great game no matter how you slice it, regardless of how much setup you need for your story. Bummer, because it seemed like it had promise.

Look for yourself.. All the positive reviews are almost the same length and sound like they were wrote by a marketing person. There is about a minute of actually doing something to every five minutes of non-skipable "dialog". There is a skip button that appears and disappears at random and it doesn’t seem to actually skip anything. You are constantly set up to fail, having to randomly tap on things till you get the desired outcome. Example: One of the early missions you have a flashback and you have to lead/distract two characters away over a line. The point was to train you to lead some aliens away from your target character so you can rescue him. But there is no clear point to lead the enemies to and so many obstacles (trees, can’t walk between trees?!? Really?!) that you get killed many times till you figure out what you’re actually supposed to do. Making the game a pointless wreck. This is not a game it is an exercise to see how long you can put up with pure boredom and tedious tasks. Free would have been too expensive for this program, let alone 3.99. What a waste!!!!! Update, Dec 2015: Still the same! Just a horrible experience. Very poor gameplay design.

Nope not worth your time. Short game, controls are horrible. Long winded story. Don’t buy it looking at the rating. Should be free.

It took us ten minutes to beat the game.

An amazing and beautiful game, with a killer soundtrack to boot. We don’t usually rate a game before finishing it but it’s so well done!

This is a great game. Beautiful graphics that look great from our iPhone to our iPad to our Mac to our TV, an amazing soundtrack, but most of all an engaging story and terrific gameplay.

Hi Space Age creator! We’re loving playing on our apple tv. Controlling it with the touch remote works like a dream. One thing though. Instead of using the play button to recenter the screen, maybe there should be a toggle that locks the camera to center on the character. This would work much better on AppleTV we think. We keep pressing the siri button by accident. Thanks!!

We enjoyed playing this game quite a bit on our iPad. Now we get to install it on our new Apple TV, enjoy it in a new way and share it with others. The developer making the app upwardly compatible inspired us to come give it the 5 star rating we have always intended it should have.

We want to like this game, we really do, but the control and the A.I. Of your characters when you want them to walk somewhere is so bad that we’ve been trying to be level 11 for about 2 hours now. You’d think we would have accidentally beaten it at this point, but no. Their behavior when their squadmates are getting attack is ridiculous, and we would say it could be fixed by micromanaging them but that’s just not possible either because you have about .5 seconds between the time an enemy shows up and before you get one-shotted. Whoever made this game never let other people test it, and they clearly have no idea how difficult and unwieldy the game combat mechanics and squad control is. We’re demanding our money back on this one because it’s simply not possible until the developer does some tuning.

"Performance updates and bug fixes" or similar wording isn’t an update, it’s filler. If you’re squishing bugs, tell us what those bugs are.

Do not trust all the one-star reviews. We’re an avid mobile gamer, and never before had we played such a complex, detailed game on the simple iOS platform. Space Age has a compelling story and even better gameplay/gameplay mechanics. It’s relatively short but trust us when we say it has high replay value. Five stars, bravo, Big Bucket.

Having been born in the early 80s and growing up playing all kinds of Sierra games, Monkey Island, Zack McCracken and Maniac Mansion, this game was a wonderful flashback. The dialogue was a bit cheesy at times, but it didn’t take away from our enjoyment of it. Not sure if kids born on the graphics and cinematic narratives of games today will enjoy it as much, but those of us from ‘simpler’ time, aka the beginning of the Internet, it should be a big hit. Hoping for Part 2!
