Overview
Summer of Memories is a casual, easy-to-play narrative game set in Japan in the late Showa era.
Just pick a few items for our protagonist Sosuke to put in his backpack for the day, and off he’ll go to explore. When he returns, he’ll regale you with tales of his adventures. From bug-hunting to beaches to friends to family—many stories both sad and sweet await you.
So put on that swimsuit, collect everything under the sun, and come share an unforgettable summer with Sosuke and a wide cast of characters!

We loved this game from start to finish. The artwork is beautiful, the music is calming and pleasant to listen to and the characters are all very lovable. Its so rewarding to be part of Sosakes summer adventures as he gets to know the island and its residents. Everyone has a secret story of their own to discover! We felt genuinely sad when the story came to an end because we were enjoying it so much that we didnt want it to be over. Thank you for this wonderful game.
This is, not exaggerating, our favorite game in the app store! We would love to be able to play this again in Japanese, both to better appreciate the story and to practice our Japanese. With the overall simple wording, the ability to go back to previous conversations, and the easy pace of the game, this would be perfect for that! But, even though in the app store it says it includes Japanese under the languages, we can’t find a way to switch it. Developers, if you happen to see this review, any help? Is there a setting we’re not seeing, or does the app not actually support switching languages? Notwithstanding, this is a wonderful, cute, beautiful, heart-moving story. There are ads, as others have mentioned, but they’re really not bad, and we don’t see that they take away from the story. The artwork is beautiful as well, and the character designs are supremely cute!
Wow… Wow is all we can say. Summer of Memories was more than just a game. It gave us the privilege of stepping into young Sosukes life. We were there while he journeyed through the complexity of family. And we were there while Sosuke learned to understand the bond of family, and experienced how it could become unbreakable. While he found out more about his parents past, he managed to uncover more about himself and who he was as well. At the same time he learned how to be a kid, and just enjoy life. Legends, and treasure hunts, ups and downs, late nights, Japanese culture, and long days at the beach… Sosuke and we went through it all. It was incredible seeing the character development every single character had, and the ways they interacted with one another. We can honestly say you become attached. You quickly forget youre playing a game, because its such a cinematic, beautiful story. Please do yourself a favor and get this amazing game. We wish more people knew about it!

Dear developer, The game is so good and we love all those scenes with cute drawings like this. And many mysteries were solved in the 3rd point of view. However, when we reached the happy ending, it turned out it’s not happy at all. The ugly truth hit us hard there. Sosuke’s fiancee asks him to invite his friends on island in that summer vacation, but he said he can’t because he only know their nicknames. So that means he never went back to the island after that summer ever again. What happened? And it means he didn’t contact them either until his wedding. Why? And he doesn’t even try to reunite with them before his wedding by asking his auntie and uncle about their familes on island. How come? When we think about how he said he treasured the good memories with them so much but in fact, don’t keep in touch with them, that’s so sad and hypocrite. So it means the adulthood already makes him busy with his own life and sometimes "remember" about the good past when they’re mentioned. That’s deep and bitter. That’s not happy ending at all. I’d prefer see them all together for years. Physical distance also makes people distant? Anyway, it’s a good game, but after we read the happy ending and realize the ugly truth, there’s something bitter in myself and we want to bury this game forever so we can keep the good memories of cute Sosuke and his friends. What’s the point of rewinding the time to unlock some unfinished scenes when the ending is set? Sorry if we take this game too serious, but good job there. The game is so cute, but why the ads keep popping out even after we bought VIP? The ads are so disturbing, which prevents us from really loving this game.
Omg this has to be our favorite game of this type on the App Store maybe our favorite on the App Store! When we downloaded it for the first time we were really feeling sad but this game made everything better. Most calming thing we’ve ever played and everything we’ve ever wanted. The only thing missing is a bigger fandom because honestly this is amazing. We love everyone who worked on this to bring us this amazing piece of art.
Edit: to those complaining about ads, just purchase the 4$ option to opt out of ads. Its supporting the game and removes ads. Its not a lot of money for a game this high quality. Im not usually one to write reviews, but felt we had to for this game. Its beautiful, and the characters are super fleshed out and relatable and sympathetic. Our only real criticism is that theres not much to do in between seeing new people and places, but thats it. Oddly enough, we also wish there were more opportunities to buy things with irl money, because we want to support the game and the studio. Gorgeous graphics, lovable characters and a story that is very deep and touching. Definitely try it out!
This game was so cute. It reminds us of something that we would have played on our DS when we were little, The story is so interesting and the gameplay is so well-done, satisfying, and adorable. In addition, you can watch an ad almost any time in order to speed up or buy extra stuff. We hope we can find other games like it. It would be an adorable movie.
We just started to play for 10 min… And we had to stare at 10ads or more… That is on the excessive side. Almost too much for us to even give the game a chance.
We’ve tried every idle game made by GAGEX and this one is the best by far. There are no glitches and there is an option to opt out of ads completely. All of their games are extremely enjoyable but the ads often times either delay the game, glitch it, or completely prevent the progression of the storyline. Hungry Hearts and the Oden Cart were both playable in our opinion. But in both games the ad bar at the bottom of the screen would often times block the controls to make dishes and do other commands. Grannys Candy Shop on the other hand was a constant crash and unplayable. Regardless, this game right here is the best out of everything they have produced by far and is the perfect idle game with heart tugging stories that will make you wish you could relive it all again from the very start.

Its been awhile since we’ve played a game we truly like. This game is story driven, and the story immediately captures you. We think weve all had memorable summer vacations, so its very easy to relate to the story. And theres a little bit of something for everyone in the story. Honestly, we could write paragraphs and paragraphs about this game ( we actually wrote about the game on our blog). But Ill just say this. This game is definitely worth your time. Give it a try, enjoy the story!

This game is such a cute adventure game! We love the whole concept and Im waiting to get to the end to see what happens, but its a great game! It would be really awesome if more games were like this, the background music is calming.
This game doesnt include flashy graphic or groundbreaking control like many other games in the market right now and thats why its so unique. The story in this game is just a peaceful, simple one in all of its greatness. We feel like youre in that very place with Sosuke and experience everything that he experiences. It leaves you with with a sense of emptiness when you complete the game because how much in connects you to the story. You feel like youre a part of it yourselves.

We absolutely loved playing this game! The story made us sad but at the same time made us feel fuzzy and warm. We needed something like this because we’ve been feeling down lately, thinking about death and this game really helped us out! This game is so cute and we love the gameplay but the amount of ads we get flipping between the menus is absurd! Ad after ad, even when Im just sitting at the family shop, we get a random ad! Thats our only issue with this game.
While the game itself has a cute nostalgic air to it, one of the innumerable ads that we were forced to sit through opened with a live action video of seated dark haired woman playing a matching game on a pad. A man walks up behind her and starts to swing a goddam chair at her head. But then he sees the game she is playing and becomes more interested in it than assaulting her. No context. Not cartoony violence. Just messed up. The frequent ads are bad enough, but this crosses the line. Deleting app.
Gosh, this game made us emotional. We grew so attached to Sosuke’s adventures and family drama that we admittedly shed a tear or two at the end. This company genuinely makes some heartwarming stories and Summer of Memories is no exception.
This game is spectacular. Its a small, brief game meant to be played in short bursts. More visual novel, story-esque than a game. Its a slice of life kind of vibe every visit to the game gives you a glimpse of life in the rural mountains for the main character.
This game was so beautiful. The art style is beautiful. The storyline is beautiful. Everything about it was amazing and we want more of these types of games. Sooooo underrated and needs more attention!!!
We are that kind of person who gets bored after playing a few days but this one is different. It is quite interesting with the storyline. Many characters make the game more interesting. We hope there are more customers so that we can get money and tickets lol. Overall, its a great game!

This was such an amazing game. It was very cute, very relaxing, but also very riling. The game play was really nice. We thought the fact that Sosuke chose when he wanted to leave was nice. That way it didnt really feel like an obligation, but that he/you really wanted to explore these places. We use he/you that way, because this game REALLY DOES make you invested in it and like want to go to these different places. See what theyre like. Plus the storyline. Ugh, dont even get us started. It was so- Cool! Thats the only other way we can put it. We personally, was hoping that Sosuke would decide to stay on the island where hes happy, but he does need to be with his mother. We feel like we also learned things that he learned with him. He really learned to understand her better and we think that was a really nice idea for it. We genuinely cried at the end, though. Seriously developers. We were in search of a nice game that we wouldnt get tired of. And that was this. Though it was short, it brightened our day every time!!! So 1) Thank you and 2) Great job. This was perfect in our eyes. <3.
We downloaded Summer of Memories because we enjoyed playing Hungry Hearts Diner. Summer of Memories is another relaxing game where you read wholesome stories of all the characters. You dont do much other than collecting coins from customers and packing Sosukes backpack. This game is for you if you like games that arent time consuming and enjoy reading dialogues of peoples stories that eventually turn into something deep. Thank you to the developers for another great game! We look forward to more in the future.
Having played the other games of this developer, we must say this is their best work yet. They clearly put a lot of love and effort into their games. The games are not much in gameplay and are almost all about the story (much like a visual novel game), which we throughly appreciate. This one in particular is very relatable and hits so close to home! We highly recommend for anyone and everyone to play this game. You wont regret all those peaceful minutes you spend in the beautiful world. It has some sad moments, some happy ones, and some funny ones too! Everything you need for an emotional adventure is right here in this little game. Please feel free to pick it up and support the amazing developers!

We were really wanted to get a fun but chill game for our phone. This game does not need WiFi and the story is great. Our favorite part is the artwork we absolutely love it. It is so Serene and beautiful it took our breath away. Please get this game you will enjoy it.
Simple, little strategy, but some. Low replay ability. Easy to play through in a few days. We really liked this. Its so hard to find good games with good stories that wont eat either all your time or your wallet. This one is excellent.
This game is a true stress reliever- its simple to play with an engaging story that doesnt force you or manipulate you into buying anything to actually play. There is a power up that makes the game completely effortless to play and there are occasional ads that give you rewards, but theyre inconsequential and not really needed unless youre trying to speed through the game. We finished this game in about a week, maybe less, and we honestly wish it were a bit longer only because we were having so much fun. 100% recommend this game, along with the developers earlier titles such as the Showa Candy Shop series.
We love this game, its so calming and wholesome and makes our day whenever we play it. But we have one question, WHY IS SAYAKA NOT THE ONE YOU MARRY IN THE GOOD ENDING!!?? They are so cute together, and often show emotions for each other, so when we started reading the good ending, we were so excited because we thought he was marrying Sayaka, but he wasnt! We feel like there should be an ending with the main character as an adult, moving to the island, seeing everyone again, and marrying Sayaka. Im not hating on the game, we just think it would be a better ending to leave players on.

This game is really cute as all other Gagex games are. We just wished that time wouldnt pass so fast, or that theres a pause function if you want to take a break from the game. We just got the game a few days ago and almost the whole month is gone. Also! It was really easy to complete most if not all the collections and memories, so we would like some new characters to appear. Maybe Sosukes mom can show up one day?
We used to love every game this creator made, and recently we redownloaded them and got this one, and realised we could no longer buy the ads away on most of the games, which made the once peaceful and calming journey riddled with loud, irritating ads that ruin the experience. It does not encourage us to share the app or buy the boosts anymore, because we cannot buy away the stress that pops up between every other screen.
