![]()
Sym-a-Pix: Nonogram Symmetry is a Board/Puzzle/Entertainment game from Conceptis Ltd., first launched in 7th September 2016.
It’s rated 4+ and currently has 254+ ratings on the App Store.
What Makes Sym-a-Pix: Nonogram Symmetry Stand Out
Find the symmetry, paint the blocks and discover a hidden pixel-art picture! Each puzzle consists of a grid containing dots in various places. The object is to reveal a hidden picture by drawing a block around each dot according to the rules.
Sym-a-Pix are exciting logic puzzles that form whimsical pixel-art pictures when solved. Challenging, deductive and artistic, this original Japanese invention offers the ultimate mix of logic, art and fun while providing solvers with many hours of mentally stimulating entertainment.
The game features a unique fingertip cursor which enables playing large puzzle grids with ease and precision: to draw a wall, move cursor to the desired location and tap anywhere on the screen. To draw multiple walls, press and hold fingertip until the wall is drawn and start dragging to neighboring walls.
To help see the puzzle progress, graphic previews in the puzzle list show the progress of all puzzles in a volume as they are being solved. A Gallery view option provides these previews in a larger format.
For more fun, Sym-a-Pix contains no ads and includes a Weekly Bonus section providing an extra free puzzle each week.

Player Experience Highlights
Community Insight:
We really love these kinds of puzzles. The app works well. There are a lot of puzzle packs to choose from, with lots of size options and difficulty levels. Its easy to decide if you want a relaxing or challenging experience. We find these to be good at getting us into a flow/relaxed state, but interesting enough to keep our mind from wandering. We are also really impressed with the pictures used in the puzzles, they are detailed and appealing, even on smaller puzzles.
Ive played this for years. They have great color coding, but waste it on a lot of pictures of people. A carousel horse, the solar system, a coral reef, or just about anything other than another white person would improve the quality. So, we love the logic puzzle aspect, but am disappointed in the actual pictures created.
We absolutely love this game. There are no ads to constantly click out of, and while you can buy more levels to play, you still get plenty of levels to start off with that makes it worth it. Easily our favorite game on our phone.
Those people at Conceptis are the best. They have created another puzzle that requires some thought. We love it. We appreciate the free Friday puzzle each week. We also like that we can check our work. Great puzzle.
This is such a satisfying game. You start with nothing and build up to a picture. The difficulty ramps but there are built in ways to help you if you get stuck. There is a lot of free content and add on packs are cheap considering how much time they take. One of the few apps Ill do in app purchases.
Pencil puzzle lovers should try these – they're something new! Great interface and plenty of free puzzles, as always with this company.
Ive loved this puzzle game for years, and am very pleased with the app version that Ive only recently discovered. Works great on an iPad, with the bigger screen. Would love to see skyscrapers get an app release too.
Another winner from Conceptis and one of our favorites. The puzzles can take quite a bit of thinking about which blocks go with which "base" square. The pencil Mark capability really helps n those situations. We enjoy watching the picture take form as we fill in the blocks, and some of the individual symmetric shapes are really cool.
This is a great game, it starts pretty easy, but with progression, the games become very challenging. The only complaint is that most pictures use a white color option for some of the filled cells, and that white color is almost identical to the blank cells, which can make it a little tricky to tell them apart.
Have all downloaded. User friendly. Love the weekly puzzles and buy a few occasionally. Better than puzzle books.
The Best Movies 1 has someone holding a gun in seven of the twenty pictures. We play these games to relax and it is not relaxing to have a firearm pointed at our face! Maybe you should have someone responsible actually look at the pictures before they are released. Thank you.
Game will NOT stop asking us to rate it. Edit 1: still asking us to rate it Edit 2: still asking us to rate it Edit 3: STILL asking us to rate it.
We love all these Conceptis puzzle apps. We buy the occasional puzzle pack, but since we have like 6 of this companys apps, the one free puzzle per week goes a long way. We were doing their puzzles in Games World of Puzzles for years before we got an IPad, and we love them.
Sym-a-Pix is a fun game for exercising your deductive reasoning.
Suggestion for iPad is better support of Apple Pencil. It seems to be treated like the touch mouse than a pen. It would be nice to draw on or click to select the edge.
We saw this game in a magazine years ago. It was a simple deduction then and it got harder as you went on. Now there are a lot of clues (checking etc). The depth of deduction is up to a solver. We really enjoy the games.
This is a really difficult game, but figuring it out is very fun.
2nd edit: we are finally getting pretty good at these puzzles, but the logic to follow when Im completely stuck still eludes us sometimes. Really enjoy the feeling when we successfully fight our way through to the picture. Edit: we stand by our earlier assessment. We are becoming more and more impressed with how much logic this game actually takes. We used to spend a lot of time guessing, but Im getting better at them. Original Review: we thought they were way too easy at first, but the logical thinking needed as the puzzles get larger and more complicated is quite cool.
Really fun puzzles — they start pretty simple but get harder. It's a pretty original concept, combining logic and visual thinking. In general, Conceptis puzzles work on the model where you get a small number of games for free, to get a sense of if you like them, and then you have the option to pay for more puzzles in batches. Personally, we greatly prefer this model to the in-app purchases approach, and there are no ads. The larger puzzles are better on an iPad but can be done on an iPhone with some difficulty. The controls are a bit counterintuitive at first but you get used to them. This is one of our favorite game apps. Update: Im still playing frequently. Usually the free weekly puzzles are enough, but once in a while we buy a new pack, especially for plane flights etc. Ive found a lot of the time it doesnt take that much concentration and is good for unwinding, much like a jigsaw puzzle.
Gameplay is a little cumbersome.
We really enjoy the Conceptis apps. They are well put together, and the puzzles are enjoyable. With that being said, this one was hard to get started. We wasnt familiar with this style of puzzle and the instructions were a bit confusing. Even now, we understand the concept, but its still quite difficult. Otherwise, we quite enjoy the app and the puzzles.
Could use more easier levels. It took a lot of restarts to get the hang of it.
We like this puzzle game. It keeps our brain distracted.
This is a game that challenges your logical thinking skills. Love it.
We generally love the Conceptis games and this is no exception. Lots of free puzzles so you can learn the game and figure out if you like it, then very reasonable packages of more puzzles, and of course the free weekly updates. If you like Pic-a-Pix or Block-a-Pix then you will love this too.
While not our absolute favorite puzzle type of the Conceptis series, we still enjoy these puzzles and of course Conceptis has done a wonderful job creating this app! If you like logic puzzles and are looking for something new we heartily recommend it.
Took a while to figure out how to work it, but it is fun.
We love this game but needs to have more free packs than paid packs cause we dont have the money.
Entertaining puzzles. We enjoy watching the patterns emerge.
These puzzles are fun and challenging. The problem we have is that drawing the lines is difficult, while it will easily place lines where you dont want them. Very frustrating.
We love playing this game. It is challenging, and fun.
We find this game to be a great way to pass the time. The only problem is that it gets hard to put down. A free puzzle is added every week.
This puzzle allows us to relax and spend time in a colorful, logical environment. It exercises both sides of our brains.
If you like picture logic puzzles, youll love the unique mechanic behind Sym-a-Pix. While the actual user interface is a little clunky, the idea is brilliant and the puzzles are fun. Well done, ConceptisIll keep coming back for new puzzle types.
This is a fun puzzle for people who like logic and graphics. It can be very challenging for the harder puzzles! Kudos to the developer.
We are very much enjoying this game.
This is our favourite puzzle app (we have many); it's actually one of our favourite apps all together. It's a relatively simple premise, but can definitely become challenging (in a good way). We have have lost some cognitive ability due to medical conditions & these are a fun way to continue challenge ourselves. We agree with the person who finds the cursor unnecessary for an app that can only be played on a touchscreen. That said, we do like marking the outlines rather than the squares. We have other puzzle apps that have you fill in the squares directly. Our only major complaint is that the additional packs are expensive. For the price of most of the 20 puzzle pack there are other similar apps whose packages give at least twice as many puzzles. The prices seem to be fairly standard across all the Conceptis Puzzles apps, but we've found apps that are essentially more affordable versions of their other types of puzzles we've liked. We haven't found anything else like this type.
This is our go-to activity when we have extra time or we're waiting, like flights, or waiting to pick up our kid.
Great puzzles. Especially good for absorbing time and thought on long air travel days.
We wish there were more free ones.
Would be 5 if our progress on puzzles could be synced. It's amazingly fun, but we would like to be able to pick up where we left off when switching between iPad and iPhone.
The game itself is a fun relaxing idea. We enjoy the picture you can make. But the controls are absolutely unusable. The fact that tapping doesn't select where you're trying to tap, but instead deactivates or activates the last thing you selected is pointless and only makes drawing something take 5x longer than it should. Also don't understand why you have to build walls rather than just select squares you want to be part of a certain color? If they fixed the controls we would love this but until then we won't let it waste space on our phone.
Great logic puzzle. If you enjoyed paint doku / fill-a-pix, you might enjoy this even more.
We absolutely love this app!! We have 3 other apps by this company and love them all, but this is our favorite! The only complaint we have is that there aren't enough puzzles yet, but we're sure that will change soon. Keep them coming.
Best game in a long time!!! Very challenging.
Took us awhile to get decent at these. But we love how large some of the pictures can be.
We have waited the longest for the development of this app for these puzzles. Now we need a lot more puzzles please.
Conceptis has brought us another addictive past time! Can't say enough good things about them.
Unique, challenging, and addictive. Great addition to this library of puzzles.
These puzzles are so beautiful to create! Because of the design of the puzzle, they look like stained glass as you proceed through each one. We love our other Conceptis Puzzles, but these Sym-a-Pix puzzles are our new favorites. It only took us a few minutes to get the hang of how they work, and now it is all about the beauty. To help learn, remember you can toggle it to tell you if an enclosed area came out wrong. Pure, stress-free joy.
