Dive into Tally Ho by Kreg Segall

Only a perfect servant can solve a perfect mess! Being the perfect gentleman’s gentleman or lady’s lady doesn’t make you an angel. Can you untangle your employer’s knottiest problems with elegance and unruffled grace? As the valet or lady’s maid of Rory Wintermint, you’ll go head to head with recalcitrant aunts, light-handed houseguests, manage a fox hunt and corral exotic birds!

"Tally Ho" is a 600,000 word interactive comedy of manners by Kreg Segall, where your choices control the story. It’s entirely text-based—without graphics or sound effects—and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

It’s England between the wars, and the 1920s are roaring! When your employer, a proper young gentleman or lady named Rory Wintermint is summoned to their aunt Primrose’s country house Ritornello for a weekend, it’s up to you to make everything run smoothly…or not! Glide gracefully behind the scenes to arrange everything from the flowers to their love life, or leave Rory to their own devices as you pursue crime, adventure, and romance! Will you lie, cheat, and steal to ensure your employer’s happiness, or will you insist upon personal integrity?

  • Play as male, female, or nonbinary; gay, straight, or bi, and even poly.
  • Help Rory sort out their love life, or sabotage it utterly.
  • Solve the case of a mysterious sneak-thief–or join them on a crime spree.
  • Aid spies, evade the law, calm flighty flappers, and unruffle Aunt Primrose.
  • Win an Exotic Animal Show and a boat race fairly, or cheat!
  • Dance the lindy hop, or a graceful waltz—or just tut disapprovingly.
  • Ride trains, motorcycles, zip-lines, bicycles, horses, and rusty jalopies!
  • Jazz it up in the Jazz Age, or remain aloof and cool as a cucumber.

You’ll be swinging from the chandeliers or serving the canapes in this madcap, but altogether elegant comedy.

Find out what gamers are saying about Tally Ho by Kreg Segall:

This is one of the best CoG games, we’ve played it dozens and dozens of times. The humor is great, if you like PG Wodehouses Jeeves stories then you will love this.

Great writing, immersive setting, fun characters. As a fan of Wodehouse, this was exactly like stepping into one of his books. One of the best Interactive Fiction games currently out there, IMO.

This is a very well written game with a lot of forks, you can play it over several times and end up with very different adventures. There are many interesting characters (including some you only meet in certain forks) and many options for romance but only if you want to go that way. We’ve played it twice through and there are still things we havent seen yet so may go for a third. Highly recommend this game.

This is easily the funniest CoG game we have played in a while. The atmosphere is fantastically comedic and the game adopts many tropes of its era, which we found very entertaining. Mixed in with the laughter are moments of genuine emotion. All the little things are great too, like homages to other classic CoG stories, or the meta jokes made in the latter half of the story. Great read, and a very fun book to play through again and again. Cant wait for the spin off sequel coming this fall!

Quite possibly one of the best choice of games on the market. Highly recommended.

Its so witty and quite frankly, one of the BEST CoG we’ve ever read. We love this story so much and have read it over and over and over again taking different paths each time and occasionally rereading a favorite. As an amateur novelist we greatly appreciate the witty repartee in this CoG. We’ve become so attached to the characters because of how life like they are and how well they have been portrayed. Rory is a HOOT! We CANT believe the price is so low for such an AMAZING CoG. Our only gripe is the occasional typo, but if you let a few hang ups keep you from getting this truly inspired CoG, then your truly missing out!

We loved the character development and different conflicts throughout the storyline based on the choices made. We also appreciate the many different endings possible.

Much of the story line was lacking cohesiveness. It read more like random, underdeveloped characters and relationships thrown together in one big incoherent stew. What a waste of money. We love Choose your own adventure stories but this was by far the worst with an ending that was lack luster.

We’ve bought their first game before which we thought was alright. However, this one definitely surpassed our expectations! We loved how many branches this game has and we haven’t even gone through all of them. Your choices do feel like they matter and the romance options and route satisfies.

Im a big CoG reader, so we can tell you with great confidence that this book is one of the best. We’ve already re-read it twice and Im about to start our third. If you like CoG books then do yourself a favor and get this book… Our only issue we have with this book is the same issue we have with many of the CoG books- LAME COVER ART! We almost didnt get this book because the cover art looks so cartoonish (which doesnt match the tone of the book) and it really dampens our interest in whats probably a good book… Otherwise, this book is a must-read for CoG fans.

Tally Ho has 600,000 words full of jam-packed action, fleshed-out characters, and plenty of humor to boot. The replayability is strong. We’ve had this game for a few weeks now and still find myself discovering new scenes. The game also has constant references to the real world, and if that isnt enough for you, youll spend ages unlocking each and every achievement. If you could only buy one game from CoG, you should choose this one.

Bloody amazing!! Not since Tin Star have we been so entertained!! More we say Dash it all!

We love how we were transported into the 1920s with all the decorum that goes along with it. The story is well thought out and extremely satisfactory in length. You will not be disappointed if you purchase this game. The characters are all developed exceptionally well and there are many options to choose throughout the game.

We’ve lost count of how many times we’ve played this through in the past couple of weeks, and yet we keep finding new narratives to explore. And every single one of them is a delight. Theres so much here and its so well written. If you get only one Choice of Games release, this should be it.

A ton of replay value with completely different story lines depending on choices. Characters are great. Highly recommend.

This is a really refreshing change from the subpar stories being put out by Choice and Hosted Games recently. It’s funny, well written, choices matter and the characters are all entertaining. Highly recommend this one.

We don’t often review games, but we simply had to for this one. We absolutely adored it: the take on romance, all the twists, the laughs. It’s perfectly combined to create our favorite story since a midsummer nights choice — And for this one we felt as though the choices had more weight, which we really liked. We hope to see more stories like this, and we cannot wait to play through again If you liked this, you may enjoy the aforementioned as well as Evertree Inn.

We’ve been buying these Choice Of games for forever and while we’ve enjoyed them we’ve never felt compelled to write a review. Tally Ho changed that. Fantastic story, great characterizations, consequences to your actions in a truly branching story. Just fantastic. You cant go wrong with this Choice Of game.

Honestly would play a whole game of just romancing Rory god we love him but also this game is really funny and we love how many choices and different outcomes there are.

This was worth every penny. One of the top cogs of this year. Multiple choices, great writing, good length and various outcomes.

After playing the sample of the game online- we were very excited to buy Tally Ho. We were quick to learn just how much would actually be taking place. While having multiple events in a COG is a must; we feel that this one had too many. We’ve played through three times and each time we’ve come to this conclusion. Theres no clear genre to the story. Is it a who-is-it mystery? A spy novel or a romance? All these moving pieces really complicate the story. There are of course goods; we enjoyed the length of the story and how involved it got us choice-wise. We found myself laughing at certain things the MC or supporting characters did and theres an abounding amount of achievements to unlock.
