Tinker Island 2: Survival Review

As of writing this we wholeheartedly know we’ve only scratched the surface of the story. From years of playing the first game we had the chance to play a unique type of analog game, to which we can only praise the development team on their vision. The pixel graphics have improved from the first game. As well as the system to frequently boost characters stats, as well as recruiting new ones. We hope to see more updates for the game in the future! -Zedd36.

We’ve been in love with this game since the first one. We love how your decision making affects the story, but yet doesnt stir the story completely its a perfect balance we recommend this game to anyone who wants a game you can hop in and out while dealing with your own life. Its fun and so enjoyable and even brought back the characters from the first one. If you are just starting with these, go back and play the first one first!!

Loved these games since the first, excited to see how the devs keep making it better.

Besides the part where all the characters sell out and say to leave a review, but good.

This update yall just screwed up food?? Im not paying 400k for a pie that takes mad grinding gold for like no energy?? Change it back plz.

The story line and dialogue are not interesting or engaging. Gameplay is pretty decent. What kills the game for us is the constant updates nerfing things. Resources that we gathered for weeks can be rendered almost worthless after a single update. They make it harder and harder to progress with each update. We have been through 3 updates now and each update made the game worse for us, not better.

Its pretty, the story is interesting, the look of it is nice. We like the fighting mini game. We were pleased until we got to the point where we realized you cant just go gather wood you have to have green gems which arent easily obtained Unless you buy them. Pretty lame. You have to wait hours for some areas to unlock. You cant just gather other materials either, money money money.

Honestly everything about this game is pretty similar to the first. Only thing is the energy cap. Making us wait hours after doing two things just to recharge energy.

Tinker island two has some fun moments, but we kept expecting to get past something tedious with no redeeming plot or novelty, and the second it seems to happen, another boring, unending grind emerges. It offers some dopamine, but unless you pay to play, the pacing is excruciating.

After you get the tent and campfire built, it tells you to continue exploring this would be easy, IF we COULD INTERACT WITH ANYTHING! Every icon in the game is non responsive, aside from dragging your characters to nowhere. We cant get anything done, and Im stuck. So we tried uninstalling and re-installing. Same bug. We wanna play the game so bad, but we barely got into the game and now we cant progress. PLEASE FIX IT!!!

When we played the first tinker island we were hooked bc of the dialogue. They devs have stepped it up a notch with how meta the game can be and we love that 4th wall breaking experience. The game is also really addicting but the writing is top notch!

Its a bit silly but in all our years of playing games, this one has sparked something new and creative. So far it has kept our interest. It has something unique that no other games have. Great job developers.

Hopefully doesnt entail with us needing to buy anything.

The combat are better then the wheel And im able to heal charecters.

We could play this all day for multiple days!

Chests are the main source of your item and character upgrades in this game. They are set on timers and are very much underwhelming overall. They are exorbitantly expensive using the in game p2w currency, which youll trickle in at 3-5 a day if youre lucky. You wont be. The higher end chests cost between 1.7 and 3k. But wait, we can watch ads for chests!! Just two, and they take awhile to refresh but its something, right? Theyre named exactly the same as the chests you would acquire in a location but NERFED as can be, maybe 1/4-1/3 of a normal chest reward. Again, if youre lucky, which you wont be. Hard pass on this one, another foolish decision to make a f2p into a tedious void unless you throw money at it.

We loved tinker island 1 where gems were a side thing but this game seems kinda just like a cash grab on the success of tinker island 1 may improve if you get rid of timers actually think about the grammar and flesh out the story more we were talking with the survivors when they were going on a day at the lagoon and the survivor said Rober instead of Robert and it was ver immersion breaching.

Id like to play it, but the game refuses to open. We have tried uninstalling and reinstall but it does not work.

Its a great game and we loved tinker island 1 as well! Great game idea, thanks so much for making this game.

This game is a little confusing because its not your normal survive on an island game. Its mostly story based which is nice due to their lack of robotic story telling. Often times story games are so robotic and repetitive that theyre not fun to play. But this one is based off of the many choices you pick, also some of the smarta** remarks are really funny. All in all it deserve 5 stars, it deserves more attention, and hopefully it will keep getting updates regularly :)

This is the most beautiful thing we’ve ever seen. Its here.

Loved it when we were younger and love this new one. Lots of memories!

Im not to far in to this game yet but we are likening so far.

Nice changes from the first one.

Its better than the first one. Well made.

Games cool and a good and slow starts.

We were excited for a sequel to one of our favorite mobile games, but there were so many changes to the core mechanics. Overall, it suffers. Good use of humor and a huge improvement to the combat system. However, having to drag characters over and over feels tedious. We understand the use of recharging energy instead of exploration/building/gathering time allows for more play time at once, but it feels cheap in comparison to the first iteration. We also think the puzzles during exploration were more inspired in the first game. Its hard to tell what they want and we end up having to guess until we can progress. For now we want to keep playing in hope that later game is worth the slow start. Also please bring back the garden puzzle mini game!

Its a good game, if you played the first game you know most of what youre getting.

All the worst parts of the first game and none of the fun puzzles. Not sure what the point of it is really, its just such a grind the whole way through.

We travel a lot for work so having a game that can work offline is such a perk for us, we played for years on the first tinker island and still adore it so when we heard about this new one we were excited! Its just such a bummer for no offline use we will have to refrain from using it for the time being.

The game is frozen on the load screen Im useing the newest iPad air4.

The game is really addicting and its really fun to play its like if a book was a game with the story.

We appreciate that you made the game a bit less money hungry, it would be great if the game let you get resources by using ads and not having to always use gems. It makes us want to play it more.

The game is simple and fun. It doesnt take itself too seriously. The constant 4th wall breaks are comical. The story is interesting enough to kill some time with.

First off; the timers that came with the new update aren’t that much of a hindrance. No spoiler; we’ve reached the point where you cannot continue until the next update comes, and it doesn’t take THAT long to get there even if you have the timers slowing you down. Focus on reaping the shard chests as soon as they’re available, and put Adam in your party. As he levels up, you’ll get a nice boost to your energy regen. Build, build, and build some more. You’ll reach max level for your buildings much sooner that the previews would have you believe. Your headquarters hits max way sooner than you think, and then after maxing out your buildings you won’t need to use up space for characters that have build related special abilities. You eventually want to unlock the Oasis spawn point for character shards, and then focus on farming gems from the resource generators and level up the Oasis spawn point. The characters you reap from that one are awesome, especially the one that’s a Cthulhu parody. The most fun for us is unlocking all the skins. There are some very cool ones.

A really good free game, theres no ads and and nothing their trying to push you to purchase also a fun story.

We havent played long, but this cute game is awesome! One complaint: It requires internet. Other than that, though, the character conversations, simple exploration system, undertale-esc combat system, and Question Marks starting dialogue are all fantastic.

Loved the first game this one is good too.
