We like the concept of this game, however, its very much pay to win, and has a hard time keeping up with demand. We started the fastnet with a full pack, but when it really mattered, we kept getting booted out of the game, so we couldnt tack or change sails sometimes until hours later, after we ran aground, or sailed many miles off course. More frustration than the game is worth.
Game continues to crash not allowing us to enter and change course. Seems like it only caters to paying customers and the developers close friends. We would not put real money into this game until the developer cares enough to fix bugs, and this developer does not give to squirts. Its fine if they want to give paying customers an advantage, but if youre going to do that then dont offer free play! Waste of time!!
We made the mistake of paying these people for an annual VIP subscription. Not only is the game glitchy but the so called Priority support is non-existent. Dont make the same mistake we did and stick to free.
It would be perfect if it wasnt for the annoying ads and constant prompts to buy credits.
We would understand having a layout similar to supremacy 1914 but in our limited knowledge of playing this cash grab why wouldnt we be able to buy boats to use in any race? We think rather than having to pay real money for upgraded before the race we would rather enjoy being able to get better boats to use in the races to come.
VR has raised prices and severely reduced rewards for finishing races with high rankings. While the features are excellent having system crashes that last 3 hours are unacceptable.
The game is fine. We’ve been playing for over 5 years now. (Mainly because we now live in Texas and miss sailing.) Why do we max out on level 14?
Love this game. The real time format is authentic and addictive. We are continuously trying to beat our children and best our own positions from past races. We love that you have to use actual sailing skills. A winner!
It keeps telling us to reset the game.
Love the game and have been playing for a couple years. Just completed the last update and can no longer load in. It prompts us with Caution: Reload the game. We have re-downloaded the app and still nothing.
Error message keeps coming up, saying reload the game. No longer be able to play at all.
We have been trying to unsubscribe from their relentless emails for weeks no response no accountability.
Ever since the update on May 4th or 5th, there has been some problems with the route forecast. The points that say hours 1,2,3,4,5 and so on disappear and reappear and give an overall choppy feeling. Also, we have had some trouble with app stability. The app will close after maybe 5-7 minutes after a series of choppy spasms. These occur when we zoom out and scroll around the map. We really love this app and would love for these problems to be fixed.
Turned it on to try it out, havent got a clue. No help, no steering, no idea. 3d is cool.
Game restarts every couple minutes. Cant be fun if you cant play it.

We have the VIP thing which is really only helpful for planning more than one day ahead. But to buy a full pack anymore is out of the question. Used to be $8 for short races, up to $20 for long ones. Now theyve doubled those prices. So no more decent finishes. Youre stuck in the middle of the pack at best with basic sails. Not much fun anymore.
The only thing we dont like about it is it kicks us out a lot.
We have played this game for about a year. If you’re into sailing it’s very entertaining. We have also met a great community of other players from across the globe. Unfortunately a few weeks ago the game was updated and now it shows long ads when loading a race. The ads cannot be skipped. That ruins the experience when you are in multiple races at the same time, which is often the case. Please go back to the previous model where you can play for free and pay to get more options. We’re fine with having zero chances of winning a stage. We just want to "sail" for weeks and have fun in the process.
New adds pop up that you have difficulty getting out of as you try to manage your boats in the different races. It also appears to zap a lot of battery power from the phone as well. The basics of virtual regatta have been fun but we will need to give up using this app after many years if fun play! ;(
There is an overall lack of resources for this game from the moment you first play it. The tutorial is bare bones and doesnt really teach you anything about how to play, navigate, use certain features, etc. You cant even get player support without paying, and why would you? The developers don’t give the slightest appearance of being player friendly or try to help out in even the simplest of ways. You end up having to search and comb the internet for resources just to learn how to play the game and operate the interface, but most of the information is located on websites or message boards that are extremely out of date or no longer maintained. Even though its not much better, there are more resources available for the inshore version of the game, and it is less complex. For a game that seems to want to make its mark on a more global scale, there needs to be a much higher priority placed on player support and generating a useful info base/community for players to interact and learn. More effort needs to be put into the game, especially if the ultimate goal is to get players to pay for the subscription service. Until then, theres no way this game is worth spending any money on, and itll be relegated to a time killer.
Good game, Im just a little bit annoyed by the differences in the shorelines at different zoom level which regularly get us stranded You are grounded!. Otherwise we enjoy the races. What explains our two-star rating is that this app is currently storing a whopping 3.48 GB (!!!!!!!!) of data on our phone. We fixed this twice already by scraping the app and reinstalling. We will not do it again. Please update with a fix or lose a player.
When the Skipper’s away, the brain can still play!
Your way to steer it be cool if you could see your boat turning and the boom swinging around. The game does get pretty boring after a while. We think you should be able to choose what kind of say about you have like a Hobie cat, pixel, 4-20, Feva, Optimus, laser, bic and more.
No matter what you write for support question, you keep getting responses they are awaiting a response until they close ticket no matter how many times you respond. This includes now trying to cancel VIP membership. Game is pretty good.
Very buggy, erratic updating, poor wind modeling and cryptic point and ranking system. And too many graphics where theyre not needed, like when the app starts, which uses huge amounts of data and slows down the app. Extremely frustrating app but also very addictive and compelling.
Rarely accurate in its representation of your position in relation to other sailors in 2D view until you select that opponents boat. Cant see land or marker buoys in the 3D view. Once you realize this you learn to close and reopen the app rather than just stay online and believe what you are seeing. We hope we stick with the game after the initial trial and error phase. Could use more races simultaneously to keep us interested.
A bad sign to be sure, so we removed this game. If you are going to make a game free it would be nice if we could actually see it before you start the ads for upgrades.
Waypoints dont work properly. If you program in waypoints to go around an island, you should not run aground. Plus, in the most recent race, the game showed us racing for an hour after passing an island. Then it had a connection error. When we came back into the race it said we were aground. We’ve asked the support desk return our credits, but no reply. The game refresh rate is not fast enough.
We are 61 years old, all our life we have liked sailing and with this game we have entertained myself in the absence of the true sea and its sails in the wind, we like its details and as a good fan we would like you to continue until we make this game the greatest of the history, such as having a version where we can go to any port in real time, with views of the ports and cities where they are, something like a flight simulator but of the sea and its beauties ……. Dreams? Maybe, but think about it …
Love this game. We’ve never paid a penny, and thoroughly enjoy it. Im less competitive in many of the races as it takes us a LONG time to max out a boats features, but if you play your cards right, you can be competitive in the big ones. We’ve met a lot of people around the world, all sailors in one way or another. We’ve never played a mobile game that actually connected us with other people, and people with the same passion no less! Fun game, great people, 5 out of 5.
Its been 2 years since we played. A lot of good improvements. Like the navigation help. We thought we would be way behind in relearning but was surprised we could just pick up again. Good job.
Our mom and we love the Vende Globe, so we cant stop playing! Well, heres something crazy, we kept on begging at mom to get it for us, she kept on saying no, but finally, she got and its totally worth the time and… OFFICIALLY AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It would be REALLY fun if you could add some non-identified objects so that if your boat crashes into one of them, you have to do repairs.
We love to sail, but since we became disabled we dont get out so often and cant single hand. Now we can still race!
As a sailboat racer IRL, we can only say that this app is the greatest offshore sailboat racing app ever. It is so much fun and the developers do there best to give us a good amount of races to participate in. We are now racing around the world. WHAT A RUSH! This is a great app! FIVE STARS!!
Wonderful concept – access to compete against pros. Wish the fun and helpful features werent so expensive, but Im having plenty of fun with the free version. A number of programming bugs to be worked out, but very impressive. Looking forward to seeing how this game develops over the next few years.
Its a great game that has all the adjustments and consideration of variables one would have on the ocean.
Horrible! The support is non existent. Many features are not functioning because there are too many players. The potential is there for a great game but they cannot deliver .
Finally a real time sailing game. Im hooked. It was making our iPad crash but we were just out of memory. Works great now! We find the game better if you have weather4VR. Once you master that your in good shape. We also equip our boat w all the bells and whistles. Its hard to compete otherwise. Happy sailing to all!
There is no quick manual … We never pay for any of this and so we expect to be beaten by faster boats. Nevertheless, rudimentary tools should be available, like charting any waypoint we want and have the autopilot on. We want to force a plotted course and not have the system zig zag at it own if we dont want that. Also, why cant we see the position of other boats with their tracks?
This app made us buy a old Imoca 60.
Great game but it appears a bit heavy performance wise and locks up occasionally on slightly older devises.
We love the ability to set up the boat and then to race against others to all of these destinations. We wonder how it would be to also show the currents as well?
Started this game a little under an hour ago. Everything so far has been good other than receiving a few network errors that have since gone away.
The game is ok but we would like to see the ability to steer from the helm 1st person style and it would be nice if land was rendered into the first person as well. Additionally it would be awesome to see freshwater and food rationing in play. There could even be supply ship checkpoints that could be established along race routes to make it more interesting. Also if harbors and 1st person control were implemented then sailors could literally race to the finish line.
What started for us as a really great strategic offshore game, turned into an expensive experience. We have been playing this game for 6 months now and ended the last few regattas in the top 2-3%. However, we very quickly found out that in order to be competitive you need the (expensive) features. Without VIP account (almost $10 per month), which gives you more characteristics about the boat and the 7 day wind forecast, you are practically without any chance. Then, per race, in order to be competitive at all, you need to buy additional features, like heavy/light wind sails, foils etc. OK, you get some credit up front, but that gives you only very limited features which still leaves you without any chance. Ending in the top 2% of a particular regatta, gives you credits that only pay for one or two specific features in the next regatta. Then, what becomes really tricky, is that there are some regattas that cost you more credits (=money) for the same features. Long story short, even for a pretty decent virtual sailor like myself, you will be ending up paying close to $40 per month. Keep in mind that sometimes your credits remain stuck for months (for the duration of a regatta) before you even get only a part back following a good result. Alright, a good game/app should cost money. During the last couple of months however, we had too many issues with lost connections, data errors etc. Also the app on our IOS device seems not to visualize the situation on the games servers correctly. For example: leaving you thinking that you rounded a mark (even when showing it green), but then after some minutes when the screen refreshes, you ended up with short cutting the mark. Then when reaching out to the High-priority support desk to report the issue and asking for feedback: crickets….. For $40 per month we expect a better functioning app and a better response. Unfortunately we turned from very enthusiastic virtual sailor into very disappointed one.
Game is really fun to play. We like to put in 3D mode at night as we sleep to hear the water and wind sounds. We do wish you could keep your boat for future races. Thanks for the fun.
