Hear from the Players – VMOD Reviews

Find out what gamers are saying about VMOD:

We love games like this, and we find the difficulty progression very well paced. Our only wish is that there were a minimum moves goal. Just so that there were more "puzzling". As of now, a bout a quarter of the levels lent themselves to deciphering the mechanics of the game, and some involved much more guess and check. Really great game, would reccommend.

This is a great puzzle game that is so simply its ingenious. However, the game wont let us pass level 21 despite completion of the level. Am we missing something?

Are you the kind of person who wants to push all the buttons? Then this is the game for you! Dont let the lack of tutorial scare you away as it is intended for the player to figure it out through trail and error. If you still struggle with it then honestly this just isnt for you. The only downside is that because all the levels are handmade there arent very many. (You better get on that dev, we crave more button mashing)

Great way to waste some time but after two times through the game we feel like bored of it because there are only 50 levels.

A really enjoyable, challenging and unique puzzle game. There seems to be a bug on level 29 though. Just like the other levels, we got all the buttons to display white but the game will not let us progress to the next level. App description says there are 50 levels…

We love it we read other reviews and some were bad because there was no tutorial but we figured out how to play it and it is time consuming and really fun!

Each puzzle is reduced to the Vertex Cover problem, which is mathematically categorized as NP-complete. In other words, it is among the hardest problems in computer science. Fortunately the size of each puzzle is small enough to be solved realistically. 10/10 would recommend to our professor.

So the game is so nice and the animations look clean. Our only issue is that theres no landscape mode playing for iPad and you cant scroll through levels, so that means we cant let our friends try the first couple levels without taking 5 minutes to go through levels. Other than that, Im really enjoying it and its a fun thing to play when Im bored.

The game is pritty good, but there are just 50 leves yet. It is quick to complete all levels end the fun.

No tutorial, but easy enough to figure out. The game is very short, but addictive! We hope to see more levels soon! Worth the dollar for this game!

Though not an original type, the puzzle is fine. What bothers us (being a designer/artist) is the box on top of the background. Its unnecessary. This is a minimalist design that focuses on the buttons. The extra box of a different color that sits on the background which, we suppose is meant to be decorative, isnt. Its only a visual distraction. Other than that, if you like this puzzle type, this one is an adequate form of it.

The solutions arent really clever or interesting, most of the game is tapping random stuff and hoping you stumble into the solution. A good puzzle should have a have a simple solution that when you see makes you go oh thats smart, and the process of solving it should be centralized around a catch. But you dont get many wow that was clever moments like that here, and the level design feels like not much effort went into it. Each level should have its own interesting idea to contribute, and solving each puzzle should be the players way of exploring those ideas. Of the few Ah-ha! Moments this game has to offer, most of them feel as if they werent planned by the level designer, and the way you solve a level depends completely on how you decide to try it. When there are a countless number of ways to complete each puzzle, how can any levels be thought out fully? So although there are some moments of actual problem solving here, overall its not great. If youre looking to tap random buttons, this is for you. If youre looking for some real puzzles check out the witness… Three stars because we understand making puzzle games can be very difficult. And as a puzzle game maker we’ve made games that had similar issues. Keep trying!

About 25 puzzles in, the boards become a mishmash of symbols and directional arrows. Theres no overall pattern to decipher, just grunt guess-and-check work to find which magic button should be toggled first. Eventually, we just hit random buttons to see if we got lucky. Quit playing after several of those boards in a row.

We know its only .99 but our kid wants instructions.. Seems silly to be the game of the day when its pretty basic and not much to the game. What makes an app game of the day! Will definitely make us think twice before we buy anymore apps.

Have no idea what this is or how we are supposed to play it because there are NO instructions!!!!

Even the usual sources online wont do a tutorial on this one its such a lost cause. Beautifully designed nothing.

In love with the simplicity that this game has and the look it sports. The puzzles are as simple as tap to light up the pegs, but as all puzzle game works, the difficulty escalates to where you have to think about each action you make. Something we noticed while playing is that with this game isnt about how its made, its pretty well made, but just the design of the game makes it really easy to accidentally complete levels or just trial and error until you complete a level, which kind of takes away some fun, but is just a niche nitpick overall. Otherwise we would totally recommend this game.
