Love the game but dang they dont give you much to get going on your way to win games. We’ve tried a multitude of different deck combos but still have lost like 5 in a row on casual.

Maybe fun sometimes on the toilet, otherwise its the typical pay to play PVP garbage, where youll get flattened by anyone spending the tiniest amount of money on the game. Pro: hold events often Con: can never bear the events because unless you are paying for good cards youll get flattened by the AI.

Seriously. Massive balancing issues made infinitely worse by the matchmaking system. Pay a LOT of money or get rolled over, thats the game, its just gambling with a basic card fighter minigame.

The only problem is that we love the orks but it takes some time to get a good Amy of orks.

So Im playing a casual match right against a tau using exo suits whatever first card he pulls out is a necron vanguard so Im confused can tau use necrons or not and second of what is this ranking is just starting and im in arena 1 youd think it would be rookies to NOPE veterans and higher ranks are beating us fix this please.

The game is super fun but is also super glitchy. The campaign is fun just wish the rewards had alittle bit better cards for all the hard work put in. Over all fun game just wish it didnt crash.

Even if youre not a WH40K player, and dont know much about the universe and lore, Combat Cards is very accessible. Its pretty easy to learn the basics (the tutorials are pretty decent, both in terms of teaching and rewards), and without spending a dime you can amass a respectable collection and begin progressing through the ranks, which creates a positive feedback loop, making it easier to progress as you go without plateauing for long. Best of all, unlike many games of its type, you dont need to spend hours and hours building a well-synergized deck, because at most youll be selecting 9 card, including your Warlord, and there are no separate action or support cards, just combatants, some with special skills/effects, some without. But thats more than enough to give the super-strategic minds out there plenty to think aboutespecially since as you get extra copies of cards, they start powering up. Often its just an HP (Wounds) or Attack Stat bump, but sometimes they get new abilities all together, and all without increasing the base point cost of the card. And there are a wide variety of viable deck types, anything from glass cannons to overwhelming minions to machine gun decks that take a bit to spin up but are all but unstoppable once they build momentum. And if you want to learn the lore, flip the card over and get a bite sized piece that will give you a taste of just how addictive the WH40K universe can be. The game isnt perfect; some factions have a much bigger roster and more options than others and some warlords feel a little underwhelming compared to others. But its a great way to kill anywhere from 10 minutes to a couple of hours, either playing or reading.

Not enough players in the game. You face the same players with the same decks over and over. Everyone uses 4 card decks with huge cards. Makes it impossible for starters to enjoy the game.

You can sit around & wait for half an hour and theyll Rene their turn immediately afterwards. They also dont take their turn in interments or pause in-between moves; you can tell they arent human.

Literally unplayable, unknown error constantly prevents us from logging in Epic fail lol.

All the same issues the game had 4 years ago it still has to this day. None of the changes to the game were quality of life. Literally any change just affects the pocketbook of these greedy people. The game got so bad, the developers removed the internal forum because it was just an echo chamber of people complaining about the devs incompetence. The icing on the cake for all of this is, recently they added a modifier to campaigns that prevents you from using your dead cards. A concept that would be good, if the campaigns werent 30 levels long and at the last 5 levels are literally made for only people with thousands spent could defeat.

Things like Necrons having green bullets for a ranged attack? We think this would be an awesome addition!

We have been playing CC for 3 years. It is a great little game to distract you for a couple of minutes every day. Other the years, the cards of increased in complexity. Some cards actually get redefined. This is harder to do with a paper CCG. We are more of an RPG guy than a competitive card player, so we enjoyed grinding our way through growing our deck. Eventually, we decided to trade money for time, but you certainly dont have to. We love that the card portraits are pictures of the fantastic GW painted minis. We like the asynchronous PvP mode, although there are now occasional synchronous PvP events. However, we dont find these are compelling as say Hearthstone. Playing against the computer is fast, which we like.

Fan of war hammer 40k TOTALLY worth your time.

Great card battle game. Doesnt require any money spent !

Theres no solid tutorial and leveling becomes a pain (lots of losses). But once you join a clan, the first loyalty pack gives you a viable deck.

Despite not being extremely intuitive, if you play it long enough to understand how to play effectively enough to semi-reliably win we feel like youll get enjoyment out of it. Also the cards being the models that are perfectly painted is a beautiful touch.

So, this game starts out well enough- doesnt feel like a pay to win or anything like that- the matching system initially gives you the idea that youre going to be matched up against other players at similar levels. But eventually youre going to hit a point where your cards are at level 6-7, and your opponents cards are at level 10, so youre stuck. We get it- the game is made to make money, but at some point it would be nice to be able compete on a level playing field.

Make no mistake, we like this game and it started out with an honest set of developers who engaged their player base. However, over the past six months the devs have implemented changes to the economy which have been specifically designed to throttle progress unless you are a whale. They have also used dev blogs to gaslight players that it is for their betterment, even if each change has been accompanied by scathing feedback. Its like a switch flipped and they became the opposite of what attracted us in the first place. If the developers behavior changes and they actually show players respect by leveling with them, we will consider moving our rating higher.

We enjoyed the first climb from rank 1 to 11 very much. Our favorite part was the tutorials which introduced different play styles for the space marines, Aeldari*, and Chaos. Our only suggestions to make it better would be adding similar tutorials for the Orkz/Tyrannids/Necrons/Imperial Guard/Tau/Ect., and perhaps a singleplayer mode with procedurally-generated/randomized decks for AI to use. The reason for the singleplayer mode not only allows people to continue playing the game long after pvp runs low on players, but maybe even allow them to do so offline(though we wouldnt mind if it was online).

This game is very simple but fun. If you enjoy games that require some math and thinking, and love the 40k universe, heres your game. As a personal aside, we wish they added the Alpha Legion in the game.

We feel like there should be some type of actual animation when they fight. All the cars are doing is touching each other when instead it could be those characters doing an animation or something.

We keep consistently marching with players multiple tiers above ours and theyre just wiping the floor with us. Ill be lucky to kill one of their cards which makes it tough to level up without spending actual money.

The game is fun and simple with just the right amount of strategy to keep it interesting. Our problem with the game is that we have had multiple casual play battles where the opponent is able to field more cards then we are making it almost impossible to actually win against them no matter how well your deck is set up. We understand that you can add more cards to your deck by leveling up but it is unfair to face someone who can hold more cards than you just based off their level. They will always win just cause of the higher number of played cards which leads to a frustrating experience. Matchmaking should be paired with people of the same capabilities as you.

This game is a lot of fun, but there has been a major bug that has ruined a lot of games where if we select a warlord but then select another warlord, it will go into the game with the previously selected warlord. We have lost important matches in the campaigns and ranked because we have an Ill-equipped deck with only a warlord or cards that wont help us, and of course there is no way to exit these matches.

The tutorial was completely lackluster, and during it we reached a point where we couldnt play. Couldnt start a match of any kind. Didnt know what to do. There was no instruction if any kind. It seemed like it wanted us to edit our deck, but there was nothing to edit. We were trapped in a no-play zone. Unfortunately, after many attempts we ended up deleting the game. Off to find a working card game.

Im a 40k nerd who has played everything but proper 40k tabletop, and this game does well by the ip. All your favorite characters and factions are there. Gameplay is fast and straightforward thanks to small deck sizes and simple mechanics, but theres a lot of depth to be found. Timing, learning the factions and warlords, tweaking your deck, are all very satisfying and tactical without being overwhelming. Monetization seems perfectly fine. We havent spent a dime (yet; waiting on some ork goodies to buy) and still feel like Im getting a full experience. Whether you like 40k or are looking for a new Hearthstone style deck-builder, its hard to go wrong with this one. To summarize: WAAAGH!!

Its a great way too experience warhammer without painting.

This is the first card game we’ve given a real chance outside of MTG, and honestly Im pretty happy with what we see so far. We cant speak to how complex, or balanced the game is compared to others like Gwent, but its still a great way to kill time. Thats not even mentioning the lore included with each of the cards, and using official models as their picture. Im very familiar with the setting, and we really appreciate that as a mega 40k fan.

2nd review cause this game cant remember. Great lil ditty. Throw back to the Chaos Cards of ol. Just a bunch a minis with stats! Cheers to the developers that made. Hazah to those that played.

It ripped the UI straight from clash Royale, which isnt an issue on its own, except that you cant swipe to move between menu tabs. Please god let us swipe to move between menu tabs.

Good game so far. While it is not friendly to free to play, the training mode does wonders for learning. Casual needs a matchmaking system code. It needs to detect who is new and who is not. Maybe even track who pays to win. We will continue to play this game and review as things go. So far so good, Id love to see this studio expand this concept with warhammer.

Overall we are enjoying this game. Fun easy rules, lots of factions. Ads are not obstructive. Our biggest problem with the game is that there is way too many bugs and interface issues. – we had a bug where the game would not allow us to deploy an edited deck. We would change the leader and cards but it would deploy our previous deck. – You need to be able to save and edit decks. – You should be able to surrender a game before playing cards. – The settings should be able to be accessed in game mode. – Should be able to see what benefits are unlocked in the next level. We’ve had freezes and crashes. Clean up the game and improve the interface over all. Then we may pay some for this game.

Before it didnt feel like pay to win but since they removed the 100 daily free coins it feels like such a grind.. And they started charging 500 plasma for a legendary card in the card shop which used to be 500 coins.. Theyre getting greedy. They changed the card shop so instead of paying 40 coins for 2 of a common card and next paying 80 for 4. Now its 160 coins for 4 of a common??! Why r yall double the price its dumb.

What is this ranking system??? Bro Im a veteran and Im getting match with people who are Eldiritch Raider. We dont care if their rank level is near mines, their actual ranking is not. Its not fair. They have more points and their cards are obviously more leveled up because they are higher ranked in general. Do not match based off of rank points, match based off of the level they are in. We hardly get matched with other veterans, its always people who are levels higher than us. We also need more coins and cards to level up. Its hard to especially level up the warlord, you would have to wait til that week comes to level up. And you can only buy one . We wish there were ways we could get the cards we want more easily than waiting for so long. We do understand that you guys are trying to make money, but we feel there might be better ways to do that. We think maybe instead of using plasma or coins to unlock the rewards, use ads. Although we dont know how much you would earn from that. We feel like maybe it would help, adding the options to watch ads to get the cards. Maybe have us watch ads 2 times to get rewards, please dont make the ads 15 or 30 seconds if you can control it. If the ads are 15 or 30 seconds long, we doubt people will start watching the ads. Also make sure to add it as a option, dont make it mandatory.

Its very expensive to actually stand a chance.

We cant get past the training mode we cant select unselected anything and wont let us deploy we dont know what too do.

After the last update we keep having loading issues to buy things, war, cant really do anything but load in and see our currency, cards and a bunch of loading.

We love this so far. We just wish more raven guard was in it. Such as Corvus Corax the primarch, or even Balsar Kurthiri the chief librarian.

We love the idea of this game, its cool dont get us wrong. But it never loads even with wifi, the PvP is incredibly unfair to newcomers, and is easily a pay to win game. We do hope this game gets better in the coming development, but for now its not good.

Any developer who makes apps that offer in-app purchases above $10 should be banned from allowing games. But Apple will always support it because its profit for them when someone is ridiculous enough to make those purchases. Before downloading a game the absolute first check we do is look at in-app purchases. As soon as we see $99.99, thats a given the app is inadequate in every way. There should be a way to ban this kind of money grabbing.

Update: (on top of the last review. Game freezes when a card is tapped during an animation. The bots in the game have level 5-7-9 cards, while Im coasting at level 1-2-3, maybe 4? Im not even a free to play player! It doesnt matter if the bot has the same deck size as you if all their cards are buffed to legendary stats. We cant even play the solo campaign) There are now twice as many commanders ( twice as many decks), but our rank is still the same as our best deck? We get blown up with no way of practicing the new decks. All the new content basically doesnt exist because we cant use it. The new event that maxes out your cards how do we even know which cards to pick now? If youre changing the numbers of EVERY CARD we OWN- reduce the challenge curve so we can at least try to win. When we pick an attack. Dont load for 5 seconds just to start playing the animation. Im sorry for the coders and the workers behind this project. Games Workshop the Corporation isnt giving their workers the resources to create a good game and it shows.

The game can be fun but unless you pay for better cards you only can play with cards you get in packs and youre gonna lose a lot.

Even with all the sounds and music off, theres weird upbeat childrens games type music with a girl calling for help over and over. Really unnerving.

Load times are super slow but other than that we like it.

Its fun at times, but when u start going on a losing streak which happens most often its not as fun. This is clearly a PAY 2 WIN game and most of the time u will be matched with someone who put their life savings into the game. These type of games thrive on people who hate losing and have lots of money. Im too rich to be a loser! Is the mindset of some of these players. Thats how these games make so much money. Its all about ego. We may be worthless in life, but at least Im number 1 in our game. Is also a mindset of some of these players. Im also sure that there are some players that will pay for their wins instead of pay for their food. Just know that if u dont want to pay, it will be a long grind. And u will lose a lot. There will be times where the matchmaking works and u have an even match. Thats when the game shines. IMO matchmaking should look at the stats of the players cards and deck size and pit players together accordingly. New players, dont be surprised when ur deck size of 120 with level 2 stats gets destroyed by a deck size of 250 with level 5 stats. It will happen.a lot. But dont fret and keep on grinding cause in a few years u might just have a decent deck of ur own.

As an avid fan of everything W40k and 30k we were very excited to get this game. Having played Horus Heresy Legions(which we enjoyed tremendously) this seemed like a logical choice to download next figuring it would be similar but would allow us to play as 40k teams as well. We couldnt have been more disappointed. Just take our word for it and countless others who have had the misfortune of playing this game, honestly we have no idea how it has as high a review score as it does its insane, DO NOT waste your time and inevitably your money on this title. Do yourself a favor and download Horus Heresy Legions if you enjoy card collecting PvP games set in the warhammer universe. It is everything this game is not and its still growing. Ulrac Branthen or Bust!!

This game is really good its a fun enjoyable card game. The tutorial is not so much it explains how to win what to do BUT it does not explain how to attack. Thats the most important part of the game though. The online connect to other players is needed would be nice to play with other players and have fun together. Overall its a pretty good game it just needs some improvement.

We have absolutely had a blast playing this game on our off time. It is very satisfying to win a battle and we love the missions that happen giving us a chance to get more cards of our preference. The only downside is that there is a slow load time and on one occasion the game completely broke and so we had to redownload the app it would be 5 stars but these are our only complaints.
